"We're being followed. Around five. Short, grey to green. They're trying to stalk us." Ti utters quietly to Saafris as he starts looking for an area to set up camp. Whatever the campsite is, it needs to be defensible in case those short things attack. And fire, fire's good too, right? In small quantities, anyways?
~ Urtienko
Ti is impressed at the strange local trick that causes the wounds to disappear. He's not sure if it's a confidence trick or not, but he isn't going to be rude in this apparent 'temple' place-thing. "No time for small talk, remember, lots of people hurt we need to get moving to see... right?"
~ Urtienko
Ti will bow slightly. "My traveling companion here was injured putting out the fires in town. Do you think you could help him get better? It is our goal to go and seek out any other fires and prevent them from spreading in the woods." It's not even a lie. They are looking for parts of the ship, and they do cause fires.
~ Urtienko
"Thank you very much for your time and patience thus far. Though we may appear strange to you, rest assured it's in all of our interests to get this situation figured out and taken care of." Wayfinder? I guess that term works? How tired are we after fighting the fires and the subsequent interrogation? Does it feel like we need to rest, or are we good to go? The bird-like being glances at Saafris, as if registering the injuries of the larger being for the first time. "Do you have a doctor in the house to tend to my companion's injuries?"
~ Urtienko
Ti will sit on a stool if one is available, and attempt to eat the food. "Much like Saafris said, we come from some strange ship, and we were trying to find parts to fix it because we have a friend that's trapped there. The parts are far away, though. As far as how we're able to understand each other? I honestly don't know. But we saw you were in danger and came to help, because, hey, if WE were in that situation, we would appreciate a hand or two?"
~ Urtienko
Ti watches the guards. It'd be so easy to just take off and fly away right now, but then what about helping that AI on the ship, or getting off the rock, or... "Look. If we had bad designs, we would have waited for the fire to do something, right? We risked our health and lives to help you out, okay?" The bird-like being looks over at Saafris worriedly.

Urtienkos: The crowlike Urtienko are known as a race of scavengers and irrepressible thieves. Covetous creatures predominantly motivated by greed, they are vain and easily won over with flattery. Deceptive, duplicitous, and cunning, urtienkos seek circumstances in which they can take advantage of the situation, often at the expense of others, including their own kind. They can be highly competitive, but impulsive and rash. Some claim their behavior is innate, while others believe their selfish mannerisms are cultural and developed as a learned adaptation that has enabled their people to endure through centuries of oppression. Physical Description: Urtienko are avian humanoids whose features strongly resemble crows. They have broad beaks and both their arms and their legs end in powerful talons. Urtienkos who wish to be more easily identified by other humanoids may bleach certain feathers or decorate their beaks with dyes, paint, or tiny glued ornaments. Though they are about the same height as humans, they have slight builds and tend to hunch over. An urtienko's eyes sit slightly back and to the sides of his head, giving him binocular vision with a slightly more panoramic field of view than other humanoids. Like many avians, urtienkos have modest musculature and reproduce by laying eggs. Ability Scores: Urtienkos gain -2 Str, +4 Dex, +2 Int, +2 Wis, and +2 Cha.
I'm envisioning this race as being the 'predecessor'/'ancestral paragon' for tengu -- ie, what they may have BEEN at one point, but have since devolved from over time.

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 The bird-like being gets close to the fire but thankfully doesn't CATCH fire as it works on the flames to start. Reflext Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 He seems to be getting the hang of things... Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 He seems to get really 'into the groove' and now 'feeling' where the drafts of flame are about to flicker out menacingly he uses his wings to buffet the fire back even as he hops and dances out of the way. I hope the others are doing as well!

"Seems as good as time as any to check the winds." The bird-like being takes off the cumbersome pack and launches himself skywards -- or attempts to. They SHOULD be able to fly at one-planetary-mass-attraction, and after working up to get some height they'll attempt to get a better look inside the wooden walls, minding carefully if anything or anyone points or brings any sort of device to bear at them.

The bird-like thing keeps an eye out as the party moves along, appreciating the fresh air and soft grass in this apparent brand new world. Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 Tried to build character in Herolab and having a hard time getting it to give me a 'Monster HD', so using base Wisdom.

Welcome back to the land of the virtual! Ti makes his way outside warily, then the avian entity points in the direction of the smoke. "Betcha an impcred that's been caused by our arrival. We should probably check it out, see if there's anything handy or worthwhile by it, right? And it looks like it's a bit of a haul, too..." Whatever an 'impcred' is left to the imagination of the listener, it's apparently some sort of currency...

The bird-like being goes into the previous room and whispers out of relative earshot. [/b]"Testing, Testing, Testing."[/b] He will then come back after the test of the communicator. "Sixty to seventy days or years... gonna be a bit tight. But let's make it happen." Ti will request the equivalent of the following, and request any suggestions for things he may have missed: Backpack (2g)

"Not going to turn down any gear that might be of use, and yes, let's try to get you some power because hey, it'd be kind of a shame to have someone who's a 'fully aware AI' not stick around, right?" There's of course some selfish motivation there, but also some common sense. With support and resources...
~ Urtienko
"Hello, SIG-MA. Let me note for the record I'm kind of glad you saved some of us too. You said main core drive... that sounds kind of important and power-y. How are you still working without power? Are you going to cut out on us at some point?" While the Urtienko isn't a technical genius, this is in the 'average questions a person might think to ask'. At least, he thinks so.

"Well, if we are considered personnel, and we're getting that message, then there's probably some sort of way to manually release the door, possibly something hidden, even?" Ti peers at the only apparent exit, then heads back to the pile of wreckage that some folks came out of looking for something that could be turned into a crowbar, or a rudimentary lathe, even...

"We're going to need a map or chart, any supplies, and probably whatever equipment we can scavenge along the way. Though there might be a temptation to take all the shinies, let's leave that for now and work on stuff we really might need?" The avianesque being pulls itself up and checks through all of its limbs before looking for some sort of indication of direction, signs, maps, anything...
~ Urtienko
The bird-being places manipulative appendages over the sides of what appear to be its head. A strange raucous language:
"Oh, open sky, MAKE IT STOP!" And then the message changes and there's a slight relaxing because, hey, droning strange voice he can understand has changed... oh, no, it's repeating again. Agggggh. "That doesn't sound good. What's a 'Sigma' and what's a 'key chamber'?"
~ Urtienko
The curled-up avian-ish entity flops out of the curled-up position as it recognizes the breathy words.. A possible airy language:
Auran:"Can you *ugh*...nderstand me?" And then the plant-thing touches and the spores sizzled a bit as they fought with the bird-thing's blood, though any nicks or scratches are slowly healing up even as it pulls itself to an upright seated position... dry heaving a couple more times. More airy language: Despite the rather loud outburst that emanates from the winged thing, it isn't moving to attack, instead watching the others warily... Auran:"What the bloody hell is going on here? Where are we, who or what are you, and why the krak are you smearing stuff on me?"

... There's some flopping and some flailing as an obsidian-limbed entity tries to get his? her? its? bearings in the insanity of pain and... falling... they don't fall... they... something... wait... it.. The natural reaction of instinct would be fight or flight. But for individuals that may have developed sentience, there's also the recognition of pain. Weakened by the overwhelming sensations of sensory overflow in addition to a gut-wrenching nausea, the strange beaked being does the third option... curl up into as tight a ball as possible and wrap every limb around itself in the vain hope that perhaps reducing the input might help in the recovery process. Perhaps if the din settles and the searing agony stops they can focus a bit more? |
