Ganzi Oracle 1
Thermidor begins pondering the strands of fate, preparing to adjust them in favor of the defenders. Ill Omen on first enemy in range to attack (us, kobolds, or golden guardian). My reroll ability is still available to everyone. I'll use it when enemies if they roll 18 or higher on attack rolls or saving throws. Kobolds, the Guardian, and any other allies can use it on an attack roll or saving throw of 10 or less, assuming it hasn't been used by a party member or on an enemy.

After conferring with the others about what they know, Thermidor will take the lead, making a few educated guesses to fill in blanks. "After coming to the surface during the Quest for Sky, the dwarves of Jormudun came to Numeria, and found the artifact we know as the Sky Key during the Reign of Stars. A conflict with the duergar led them to come here, founding Ashkurhall. A disease ravaged the community. They left some of their artifacts with the Grippli, whom my comrades assisted. The descendants of Ashkurhall now live on as the Taralu of Kibwe. Is it them we should speak with?" Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Though some distance away, Thermidor will try to analyze the significance of the statue and murals, hoping for information which will help them communicate peacefully with the kobolds. He begins slowly entering the room for a better look.
Ganzi Oracle 1
Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
Thermidor is not fluent in Dwarven, or particularly cautious, but extensively studies dead and archaic languages, so he approaches the statue, attempting to read the book. "This inscription seems to imply the original settlers were indeed descendants of the Jormudun exodus. It says 'Home is far behind, our kin scattered to the four winds, but we endure.'"

History DC 10: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Baffled by the developments, Thermidor quietly comments, "There is a nearby door that seems ajar. Perhaps we can seal ourselves in there before the 'pet' arrives. We should not linger in these halls."

Spellcraft Wand: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 "Ajaline, would it be possible for you to open the door from a distance? That way we can enter safely after any collapse. We might be able to use that on the other door as well to let the 'pet' come to us" Looks like you have open/close. Thermidor will start to inspect the two doors along the hallway as well, while asking for someone with extra training to give a second opinion. "Would either of these doors be safer, or is there the same risk of collapse?' Door 1: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14

History Site: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 "Built in a hurry, as far as I can tell based on the workmanship...but for what purpose? Defense? Burial?" He will also begin inspecting the statues, looking for magical auras as well as trying to identify their significance. History Statues?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Ok. I'l go ahead with Thermidor then, and get working on the digital sheet. I can only give out one reroll per round, and once per creature per day.* *Though I do have a similar racial ability, Quibble, which means one PC can get two rerolls per day. For fluff purposes, I tend to describe the ability as fiddling with the space-time continuum (speeding up an arrow mid-flight, slowing down the attempt to dodge a spell, etc.). My thought on general reroll policies: Using for Enemies If none of the PCs have already requested use of a reroll, I'll trigger the ability on the first eligible critical threat (i.e 18 on a Scimitar, 20 on a battleaxe, etc.) Using for Allies It's probably easiest to go first come, first serve on this, if there's an attack, skill, or saving roll you'd like to try again. If you'd like an enemy to reroll a save vs your spell/ability, feel free to trigger it on my behalf. Does that make sense?

Hi everyone, I'm the previously mentioned newcomer. I've played and run parts 1 and 2, but part 3 is brand new to me. I expect I'll play Thermidor, my dual-cursed Ganzi Time oracle (level 2). This character is probably my weirdest mechanically and thematically, so I don't expect to get an up to date sheet posted until tomorrow. A couple caveats: Immediate actions can be a bit clunky in PBP, but I have a few ideas I'll share in a follow up post on how that might work. If this sounds like too much of a hassle to deal with in this format, I can hatch one of my credit babies, which might also take a little time to get together. |
