Kingmaker Table 1

Round 2:

Mikmek: Spear, flanking, against prone: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 2 = 14 dmg: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Sootscale: Club, flanking, against prone: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 2 = 24 Dmg, sneak attack: 1d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + (1, 4) = 7
Andreas: Miss
Gage: Readies attack on spellcasting
Gird: Hits Tartuk for 8
Mamise: Words
Tartuk (31L, prone, disabled): stands to die on his feet, provoking: 1d20 ⇒ 21d20 ⇒ 101d20 ⇒ 201d20 ⇒ 151d20 ⇒ 171d20 ⇒ 181d20 ⇒ 20 2d10 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 = 9
Other Kobolds:

Andreas misses as Gage prepares to prevent the sorcerer from casting any more spells, and Gird strikes the creature within an inch of its life. Mamise keeps everyone in the know, as the enemy--knowing he is done for--decides to die on his feet.

Tartuk stands almost expectantly as Andreas brings down his sword opportunistically cutting his enemy's throat, alongside everyone else's attacks.

End combat

The purple usurper falls bleeding faster than he tried to stand, and the cave erupts with joy and cheers of "Death to Tartuk," "All hail Sootscale!" and "Hooray for the tall-ones!"...in draconic that is.

Once the tumult dies down, Sootscale turns to Andreas and says, "Many thanks tall knight, you and yours have done many great services for the Sootscale tribe: routing the enemy mites, and cutting down the false teacher Tartuk. If tall ones want to settle nearby lands, not Kobold lands mind you, you not get troubles from Sootscales."

He sees you eyeing a pile of trinkets and baubles, and continues, "We plans to burn all what Tartuk touched, no telling what lasting taint he leaves on his things. You can go through them first and take what you like at own risk."

At first glance it seems to be a pile of worthless shiny objects such as quartz, mica, bits of metal, broken weapons and armor, etc. Upon further inspection however, you find coins valuing 589 gp and 4 sp (mostly coppers), a masterwork light metal shield, 7 +1 flaming crossbow bolts, a pair of boots of elvenkind, and a soiled leather bag containing the treasures stolen from the mites (who stole them from Oleg's). Among these are platinum, gold, and silver pieces valued at a total of 411 gp 1 sp; a plain brass wedding ring set with a pearl (Svetlana's wedding ring); and a pouch containing a single dose of dust of illusion.

On Tartuk's body you find a wand of magic missile (CL3, 38 charges), a mwk cold iron sickle (sm), bracers of armor (+1)(sm), and a journal written in Undercommon. In the back is tucked a scroll of fly.

It's been a pleasure GMing for you all. You all have the ability to edit the map/slideshow; when recruiting a new GM, feel free to just give them the link and they'll be able to take it from there. I will put the values of the mite lair loot in the discussion tab.

Kingmaker Table 1

Sorry for the delay, had to make good use of the weather the past couple days.

Round 1:

Mikmek: move, attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Sootscale: barks order, holds action, move, club 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Gage: Trips Tartuk
Andreas: Miss
Mamise: fail to id Tartuk’s spell
Gird: Miss
Tartuk (2L, prone): scythe floats over to him, he makes an attack from prone against Mikmek 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 5 - 4 = 3 Fail.
Other Kobolds: Tartuk AoO against first Kobold: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 4 = 4, Miss
Spear 1, against prone: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 Miss.
Spear 2, flanking, against prone: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 1 + 2 = 22 hit, dmg: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Sling 1, vs prone into melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 4 = 6, miss
Sling 2, vs prone into melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 - 4 = 1, miss
Sling 3, vs prone into melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 4 = 8, miss
Sling 4, vs prone into melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 4 = 4, miss

Gage successfully trips the sorcerer as Andreas and Gird fail to connect with him on his way down. Mamise has trouble determining what spell he used, but being as she understands what he said in Draconic, she could probably deduce it. In all the commotion, you may have noticed the sorcerer’s sickle floating over to him. He grasps the hilt and takes a swing at Mikmek for attacking him, but misses from his awkward position. Two of the kobold soldiers make their way into the melee, provoking an unsuccessful, opportunistic attack from Tartuk. The first spear thrust finds only the ground, but the second hurts the sorcerer. The other soldiers file in and attempt to pelt the fallen kobold with their slings, but none can seem to overcome his position on the ground and the friendlies surrounding him.

Perception DC 12:

The sickle is floating at shoulder level, and travelled in a path which avoided other creatures and inanimate obstacles.

Spellcraft DC 11:

Above, and these are the effects of the unseen servant spell.

Round 2:

Mikmek: Spear, flanking, against prone: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 2 = 14 dmg: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Sootscale: Club, flanking, against prone: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 2 = 24 Dmg, sneak attack: 1d4 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + (1, 4) = 7
Gage:
Andreas:
Mamise:
Gird:
Tartuk (14L, prone):
Other Kobolds:

Mikmek and Sootscale team up on the sorcerer dealing a great deal of damage, but it seems the purple kobold still has some fight left in him.

Party up!

Kingmaker Table 1

Let's finish strong! I'd like to leave you in an easy place for another GM to pick you guys up, you're an awesome group!

Kingmaker Table 1

Thanks, it's been a fun 1.5 years!

Kingmaker Table 1

Fair warning, after this encounter I'm probably going to have to quit. Between work, my IRL campaign, my family (in reverse order), I don't think I have the time to adequately GM this game; at least not to my standards.

Sorry.

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 2:

Mikmek: move, attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Sootscale: barks order, holds action, move, club 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Mamise:
Gage:
Andreas:
Gird:
Tartuk (1L):
Other Kobolds:

Sootscale barks an order at Mikmek getting him to flank Tartuk with him, but both of their subsequent attacks fail.

Party up!

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 1:

Sootscale: Another hit attempt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Mikmek: attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 dmg: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Mamise: Fall on Tartuk, Tartuk Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 negates
Gage: Disarms Tartuk 1d10 ⇒ 10, sickle falls in Gage's square
Andreas: Double move, lies
Gird: Double move
Tartuk (1L): 5' step, spell
Other Kobolds: one sling 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 miss, the rest TD

The sorcerer takes a step back, makes a gesture with both hands fig 1, and says, "щит."

The kobold soldiers outside file in as best they can, but don't make it past Mikmek so the one in front slings a stone toward the traitor, but misses; the rest take a defensive stance.

Kingmaker Table 1

Does somebody want to bot Gird, so we can move forward?

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 1:

Sootscale: Another hit attempt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Mamise: Fall on Tartuk, Tartuk Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 negates
Gage: Disarms Tartuk 1d10 ⇒ 10, sickle falls in Gage's square
Andreas: Double move, lies
Gird: Move and TD? Double move?
Tartuk (1L):
Other Kobolds:

Gird, please pay attention to the map. You cannot move in to attack (assuming you followed Mamise in). You could double-move to get in position for next time, but that would provoke. What do you want to do? I've placed you on the map assuming you've already moved 5' diagonally this round.

Kingmaker Table 1

1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Moving quickly and quietly, Sootscale hurdles the fence, slinks up to Tartuk and swings his club hard twice, just as the purple kobold leans his head down to smell the concoction in his pot.

Initiative:

Andreas: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Andreas:
Mamise:
Gage:
Gird:
Tartuk (1L):
Other Kobolds:

Mikmek runs forward, "Death to Tartuk!" his spear finds the would-be cleric's outer thigh, bringing a smile to Sootscale's face.

Party up!

Kingmaker Table 1

The chief is delighted to hear of the support from the "tall ones" and Gage's sneakiness, he pats his chest, "Sootscale sneaky too, all the sneakies, follow Sootscale," he points at the heavily armed and armored Andreas, "Everyone else follow Mikmek to big entrance to 'Tartuk's Chambers'," he spits at the words, "we catch nasty Tartuk by surprise," he calmly thrusts his fist in the air, "Death to Tartuk!"
His followers answer him in kind, "Death to Tartuk!"

At that Mikmek finishes arming himself and waves a hand for Andreas and the six kobold warriors to follow him southwest, and Sootscale leads Gage northeast. After a quick jaunt around a few curves, Mikmek's group arrives at a hall with a small pool and odd smells emanating from the end of it; Sootscale's group squeezes through a tiny walkway and come to a rickety wooden fence-like structure and can see into Tartuk's quarters.

Sneak DC 12:

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 Tartuk doesn't notice, and you get a surprise round action. The kobolds other than Sootscale will wait for combat to start so as not to throw off anyone's stealth efforts, and if anyone can act in the surprise round, Sootscale can.

Gird and Mamise: pick a side; map updated, if you beat the DC, you can act!

Kingmaker Table 1

Chief Sootscale's eyes light up with excitement, and before anyone can stop him, the spry old kobold snatches the relic from Gage's hands and shatters it on the stone floor.

The kobolds in his employ, including Mikmek, all stand agape at the actions of their leader; Sootscale himself is beaming with joy, "Thank you tall ones for freeing Sootscales from awful curse;" he turns to include his tribe in the next part, "We free from Old Sharptooth's reach, kin! Now we cut down his usurper, Tartuk!" he looks back to you, "You join us?" This seems more like an invitation than a plea for help, Chief Sootscale is overflowing with confidence.

About Tartuk:

If pressed, Chief Sootscale will tell about the strange purple-scaled kobold who came to their camp recently telling of the divinity known as Old Sharptooth, and how he demands sacrifice or the members of the tribe will suffer a curse (and he showed the effects of this awful curse at the time); so the Sootscales have been ritualistically and periodically killing one of their own until they'd been reduced to half their original size. The Chief believes that without the relic (or the cleric, Tartuk) Old Sharptooth will not be able to harm them any further, since they didn't have a problem before they showed up.

Kingmaker Table 1

Chief Sootscale seems very impressed and excited by Mamise's show of power, and says in a barking common, "Very happy to see draconic power in tall ones. You can truly help us recover relic! Come, we speak with Tartuk so he can explain relic to tall ones." He waves for the kobolds in the room to follow.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

If you want to show him the relic before he takes you to Tartuk, feel free, it will change the events that follow.

Kingmaker Table 1

The afternoon passes without event. And as the sun sets, the heroes light their torch(es) and follow Mikmek past an outcropping of large boulders emerging from the weathered face of a nearby hillock. A narrow opening in the rock leads into darkness below. A fallen sign reading "Oaktop Silver Mine" in Taldane leans against the side of the cave entrance, and a cage made of branches and sticks housing a mite sobbing bitterly to itself sits on the other side.

As they approach, they hear a surprised chirp from behind one of the boulders. It turns out it's the lone kobold guard, whose name, you gather, is Nakpik. He gets a very scared way about him before he sees Mikmek, and starts speaking to him in Draconic:

"Мікмек! Я не можу повірити, це ти!"
"Я знаю, Накпік! Я подумав, що я точно знаєш! Ці люди погодились допомогти нам отримати релікт назад, ми повинні побачити головного відразу!" Mikmek replies, and Nakpik looks up at you, nodding hopefully.
Nakpik waves his hand, gesturing into the cavern, and Mikmek leads them forward saying, "Watch out for pit-traps," and pointing to fairly well-hidden, but now obvious square areas in the floor which seem to have a different texture than the rest.

I'm using Ukranian for Draconic. If your character knows Draconic, feel free to put the script into Google translate to find out what they're saying.

Past the traps, the hall narrows such that a small creature may pass single-file, but anyone larger must squeeze.

As you pass through the tight entrance, you notice a pair of alcoves on either side.

Perception DC 20:

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 You notice a kobold guard hiding in the first alcove on the right. He sees Mikmek guiding you all and seems to be content to let you past.

Perception DC 24:

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 You notice a kobold guard hiding in the second alcove on the left. He sees Mikmek guiding you all and seems to be content to let you past.

Mikmek leads you to take a sharp left where it comes to an opening which seems to be a highly trafficked area of some kind: there are two low stone tables in the center of the room, one steeped in blood, the other clean. On the walls are charcoal and blood cave drawings of the same looming sharp-toothed reptilian devil depicted by the statue. "This is where Sootscales listen to Tartuk's talks on Old Sharptooth," He points at the cave drawings, "That," he points at the clean table, "is where mites stole Old Sharptooth relic from Sootscales."

Finally, he leads you through another tight opening at the other end of the "temple" to a wide open space. The air in this large cave feels warm and close, thick with a reptilian stink mixed with smoke and burnt meat. Numerous beds of furs lie scattered throughout the room amid smoldering cookfires, while to the south, a ten-foot-wide alcove contains a large mound of furs framed by dozens of sticks on which are mounted the skulls of many birds and small animals all smeared with ash.

As the heroes enter, Mikmek makes a b-line for that alcove. As your eyes follow his path, you see a large black-scaled kobold wearing a red-feathered headress, with a murderous look in his eye staring straight at you. "Головний Соцкард! СТОП! Гаразд, вони зі мною. Вони кажуть, що вони допомагають знайти реліквії Старого Шарпуфа!"

Chief Sootscale, you guess, sits back on his couch of furs, his murderous look changing to an inquisitive one, he leans his staff--a small primate's femur by the look of it--toward you indicating that you may approach.

Now that you have time to look around, you see three other kobolds returning to their places of rest after the hubbub, and three others seem to have wandered in after you, curious as to why you are there.

Map Updated

Kingmaker Table 1

Mikmek agrees to sleep while they move. Perusing the heroes' map, he marks the general area with an x with his claw, and it doesn't seem to be far from here. can't adjust the map right now, but it's one hex southeast of the one with the mites' lair

gm:
1d100 ⇒ 30

In fact, it's only about four hours of mildly quick-paced travel before they arrive at what appears to be a cave in a hillside.

Mikmek rouses a bit and recommends waiting until nightfall to go inside, "Kobold's extra cranky when waked up by strangers."

2 people marked this as a favorite.
Kingmaker Table 1

Between Gage's whip-crack, and Andreas' sword-strike, the final mite falls.

End combat

On the far side of the room, the heroes see where the channel they took down to the room with the centipede-trainer branches back to the room they're in now, and are able to climb it successfully to the opening of the tree.

Blinking they step into the sun. There's more to see than can ever be seen, more to do than can ever be done. It's the circle of life, and it moves us all.

Specifically, it moves Mikmek--hand over eyes--to remain in the darkness, "Mikmek no like sun, chief and other Sootscales asleep now, anyway; and all landmarks different in daylight. Maybe we wait until sun goes down to travel?"

Mamise is up!

Andreas is up!

Kingmaker Table 1

Mikmek takes the dagger and nods affirmatively, if shamefully at the knight. He makes ready to stealthily follow Andreas and the others into the next room.

As the heroes move forward, they see that the opposite end of this room ascends a shaft DC 5 to climb, feel free to take 10.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 221d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

As your heads reach the opening, you see "[t]hree crude, wooden workbenches occupy[ing] the center of the room, their tops strewn with various tiny tools, metal and wooden hardware, and blocks of wood." --Tim Hitchcock, Kingmaker

Stealth DC 22:

You also see a pair of mites playing with a contraption that seems to catapult caltrops; they seem to be shooting them into each other's mouths...
Anyway, they don't see you.

Kingmaker Table 1

"Kobolds eat big yummy bugs and other beasties, mites kill them just for bug-slop! Of course Mikmek can take you to see Chief Sootscale, how else you get shiny reward?!"

As the party starts to move on to the other opening, Mikmek has two objections, first, he's certain the statue was taken back the other way, and second, he'd feel much more comfortable moving through an enemy camp if he was armed and/or armored.

"Mikmek strong warrior, helpful to team!"

Sense Motive DC 8:

Again, the grateful kobold is sincere in his attestation that he will help and not harm you if armed.

Kingmaker Table 1

Mikmek thanks Gage for cutting him loose, and begins speaking, "Sootscales and nasty evil mites been fighting hard since stupid blue mites been stealing Sootscale loot and prey. Last raid, mites took holy relic of Sootscales and so Chief Tartuk mounted big attack on Old Tree to get it back...Mikmek last to survive...so mites torture Mikmek for information, but Mikmek say nothing." He finishes with a spit on the giant ant's corpse and a nod to Andreas.

"If nice mammals help Mikmek get statue back to Sootscales, Chief will be very grateful, maybe even have shiny reward!" He nods eagerly, seemingly as much for himself as for them.

Kingmaker Table 1

Since he can't hear the whispers (and possibly couldn't understand all of what was being said even if he could), Mikmek starts to get antsy. The kobold squirms against his binds, "Can nice people please untie Mikmek? He promises to stay right here, just very uncomfortable."

Sense Motive DC 8:
He's telling the truth.

Kingmaker Table 1

Sorry for the delay, I've tried on 3 separate occasions to post, but this is the first time I've been able to finish...

Also, I'll be gone until Sunday afternoon, so don't expect a post (I'll still have my phone, so as long as it doesn't take a long post, I should still be able to post, but...GM posts are usually too much for my phone).

Kingmaker Table 1

"Stole it! Yes! Nasty thieving evil mites!" When asked what it looks like, Mikmek struggles to produce piece of paper from his bound hands, "Chief Sootscale gave Mikmek picture so I not forget," as you carefully unfold it, it looks like an artist's rendering torn from a reference book See Map. You notice that it is indeed the one you found in the room with the tick.

Mikmek is starting to appear very uncomfortable with all the conversation considering he's still tied up.

Kingmaker Table 1

The kobold's wounds heal entirely. He struggles against his binds as he begins to speak with Gage, "Mikmek on important mission to retrieve Holy Relic from evil mites!" The kobold almost spits as he says evil mites.

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 3:

Mamise: Attack, miss.
M (7NL, Unconcscious): 5' step
Andreas (21/25): Miss
Gage (1NL, 13/18): Hits the mite for 6 NL damage, KOing it.
Gird: Hits the ant for 7 damage, putting it down
GA (20L, dying, unconscious)

Andreas takes a futile swing at the ant as a whip crack from Gage to the Mite's temple, and an arrow from Gird's bow into the ant's thoracic joint put an end to all the fighting.

End combat

"Tank you! Tank you! Lovesly bigguns for rescue Mikmek! Mikmek so grateful!" The tied-up kobold chirps.

Heal check DC: 8:
Mikmek is badly wounded.

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 3:

Mamise: Attack, miss.
M (1NL, Staggered):I messed up, the mite couldn't have taken a 5' step last round, so I'll call that its action for this round.
Gird:
Gage (1NL, 13/18):
Andreas (21/25):
GA (13L):

The mite steps to the south as Mamise's swing goes wide.

The guys are up! Let's see it!

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 2:

Mamise: hits ant for 6
M (1NL, Staggered): 5' step, dart #2 at Gage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 dmg: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

Gage (1NL, 13/18): Miss mite
Andreas (21/25): Misses
GA (13L): 5', Bite at Mamise: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 miss

None of the men can live up to Mamise's example, none finding their target. Luckily, the ant has the same experience as it steps out of Andreas' trap and bites the air around Mamise.

Mamise is up!

My bad, I wasn't clear

Round 2:

Mamise: hits ant for 6
M (1NL, Staggered): 5' step, dart #2 at Gage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 dmg: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Andreas (21/25):
Gage (1NL, 13/18):
Gird:
GA (13L):

Mamise cuts deep with her scythe, and the mite launches a dart at Gage in retaliation for the whip-crack 2 dmg.

Andreas, Gage, and Gird are up! Finish 'em off!

Kingmaker Table 1

Mamise is up, unless she's going to continue to hold action.

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 1:

Mamise: Readies an attack of 12 for 6
M (1NL, Staggered): 1d6 ⇒ 1 Dart #1 at Andreas: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 hits; 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Andreas (21/25): Miss
Gage: Successful K (Nature), staggers mite.
Gird: Hits ant for 7
GA (7L): 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (5, 4) + 9 = 18; Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Gage's K(nature) succeeds, he knows this is a giant ant; you can ask 13 questions.

Andreas steps up and takes a swing at the ant as Gage recalls a great deal about giant ants, and staggers the little mite with a whip-crack. Gird's arrow flies true in the midst of this melee. The ant squares off against Andreas, but its bite proves just as deadly as the knight's swing.

Kingmaker Table 1

Sorry for the delay; busy baby day yesterday...

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 1:

Gird: ST or delay
Mamise: Readies an attack of 12 for 6
M: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Dart #1 at Andreas: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 hits; 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Gage:
Andreas (21/25):
GA: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (5, 4) + 9 = 18

As Gird and Mamise prepare for the battle against the giant insect, the mite moves back and slings a dart at Andreas 1 dmg.

Kingmaker Table 1
Sir Andreas der Eisfalke wrote:
Gird, can you attack as well with the studied target ability?

Yes he can, ST is a move action. I'm going to go ahead and move it along, counting Gird as delaying his action if he chooses to use his standard action this round.

Kingmaker Table 1

Mamise’s fears are confirmed as they climb the tunnel to find a mite, the one who escaped the explorers last time, egging on an ant the size of a pony to torture a tied up black-scaled kobold.

Initiative:

M: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
GA: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Mamise: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Gage: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (17) - 3 = 14
Andreas: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Gird: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Round 1:

Gird:
Mamise:
M:
Gage:
Andreas:
GA:

Gird and Mamise are up!

Kingmaker Table 1

Sorry, yes, I assumed that was a take 20 search to find Mamise's dagger(s). So you find them. Also, Andreas, that post would likely have been better suited to the discussion tab. Thanks.

Kingmaker Table 1

Gage can't quite keep his grip on the rope on his first try, but 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 as the distractions die down, he makes it with ease.

Picking through what he assumes are the creature's feces, Andreas finds the remains of rest of the soldier's troupe: a set of chain mail, a flail, a heavy steel shield (all medium), 7 gp, flint & steel, a pot, and a mess kit; a pair of manacles (small), 6 gp, and a utility knife; an alchemy crafting kit, a flint and steel, an empty inkwell, an inkpen, an iron pot, a mess kit, a longsword (small), and 43gp.

Kingmaker Table 1

Andreas strikes true, bringing the huge big down on him and Gage, covering them in centipede guts.

End combat. Gird, you can save that arrow. 200 xp each.

Among the guts, you discover the remains of the centipede's last meal. A soldier, you guess, based on the glaive, 15 gp, and the mostly-digested remains of their hide armor. Other gear that survived digestion includes a flint & steel, a pot, and a mess kit.

Kingmaker Table 1

Gird posits that he could climb across on the handholds and hit the centipede with his sword, but no other options are clear to him.

Round 3:

Gage [(14)15/18]: Stand, provoking: GWC AoO: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 miss. Keeps his footing. Draws dagger, 5' step to the north, 10' beneath the body of the centipede.
Andreas [(23)24/25]: Hits GWC for 11
Mamise: Tie off rope, repel down.
Gird: sticks GWC for 11
GWC (30L): GWC unsqueezes and bites at Andreas 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Miss.

Not sure what you're tying the rope off to, Mamise, but Perc: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 1d2 ⇒ 2 you successfully tie it off on a strong handhold.

Gage stands, and is ready for the centipede's tail this time, as he draws and retreats from the creature's head and Andreas. Andreas cuts the creature hard just behind the mandible. Gird, not to be outdone, sticks the centipede just behind the head carapace. Reeling from the pain of these two attacks, the creature unsqueezes, revealing it was twice as wide as the heroes thought 10' of space, now threatened by Gage as well as Andreas; having done so it bites at Andreas, but the knight is ready and dodges the attack.

It's almost down, finish 'em off!

Kingmaker Table 1

Just waiting on Gird's move this round.

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 2:

Gage [(14)15/18]: Stand, provoking; Inspire Courage. GWC AoO: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Andreas [(23)24/25]: Stand and draw
Gird: sticks GWC for 8
Mamise: Miss
GWC (8L): 4d8 + 20 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 1) + 20 = 34 Move, bite at Andreas 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6. Miss.

Gage stands, but is tripped as he begins to sing 1 NL dmg. Andreas stands and draws in time to deflect a bite attack by the centipede. Gird's arrow finds its way through the creature's carapace.

Party up!.

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 2:

Gage (15/18): Stand, provoking; Inspire Courage. GWC AoO: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Gird:
Mamise:
Andreas [(23)24/25]:
GWC:

Yes, Gage is tripped.

Kingmaker Table 1

Round 1:

Gird: Longbow shot, miss.
Gage (15/18): stand, heal (unprovoked)
Mamise: fling/lose a dagger
Andreas (23)24/25: Make noise at mindless GWC for 14 (using your attack bonus to make noise, since centipedes don't understand language) 1d20 ⇒ 9
GWC: Move, whip-tail: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 1d3 ⇒ 2 Andreas Ref save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Gage Ref Save: 1d20 ⇒ 10 Fall damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2

As Gird and Mamise attempt to hit the creature with ranged attacks, Gage stands and heals himself. Andreas taunts the centipede, but he gets more than he bargained for as the noise draws it out of its compact coil, revealing a 25' long body as it stretches out along the east wall beneath the knight, out of everyone's reach, and whips Andreas with one of its two whip-like tails 2 nonlethal, tripping him down into the chasm on top of Gage 1 lethal damage each, and both prone.

Kingmaker Table 1

Gage is squeezing, not Gird, sorry; I used the same name twice, when I meant to say Gird then Gage...sorry.

Kingmaker Table 1

Yes, using the space afforded by the chasm, Gird wouldn't take a penalty, but the chasm closes to virtually a point, so while Gird doesn't take a penalty to attack from the low ceiling, he does take one for squeezing (-4) unless he chooses to climb the wall first (where he can attack with one hand at full bonus).

The path/opening is a little over 5' wide. The chasm is 10' across from ledge to ledge, and 20' deep as I've said, and the bottom closes to a squeeze. It also closes to a squeeze at about 20' to the north and south of the path (the path is bisected by a 40' wide chasm).

The reason I haven't posted a map, is there isn't one for this chasm: most of the combat will be taking place on the wall, or on the ledge. If you are beyond the ledge, everyone in the chasm has cover and concealment; otherwise you're in a 10'x20'x40' rectangular prism, or squeezing.

Gird is standing on the far (west) ledge. Gage is squeezed into the bottom in the middle of the path. Mamise is on the west wall just below Gird, and combat started before Andreas could move from the near (east) ledge.

Kingmaker Table 1

Initiative/Perception cont’d:

Gird: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Gird shouts down to Gage, ”Look out, there’s a giant centipede down there with you!”

Round 1:

Gird:
Mamise:
Andreas:
Gage:
GWC:

Party up!
