Not played WotR at all yet, but you should also take into account that the first few adventures are always more luck based, because you haven't upgraded your decks at all, you have no improved skills or tricks, nothing, so your characters don't have much chance to be effective in their niches.

Question 1:
Vika's blacksmith power states

"When you would discard a weapon ([] or armor) for its power, you may recharge it ([] or another card of the same type in your discard pile) instead."

Just by reading the text, if you were to take the second check mark, it would read "When you discard a weapon ... for its power ... you may recharge another card of the same type in your discard pile instead." The naive reading of this would say that the recharging of another card of the same type replaces the original discard, so you have to discard nothing. I'm guessing that is not what it is going for and instead the power should read something like:

"When you would discard a weapon ([] or armor) for its power, you may recharge it instead ([] or discard it and recharge another card of the same type in your discard pile)."

Question 2:
In the blacksmith role there is another power that says

"[] When you would bury a weapon or armor, discard it instead"

Does this combine with her other power above so that if you were to bury a weapon ([] or armor) for its power, you can recharge it instead?

I'm in S&S adventure 6 with a four person group and felt he's been great. But we have a more balanced team than you have.

But yes definitely use your recharge on yourself liberally. I hope he's taken the hand size 7 power (or gets shapechange or whatever that is for a spell), as it helps a lot. Dimension leap is a ton of fun, and Divine Fortune works until the start of your next turn and helps anyone in your location. Combine the two and you can move your divine fortune bonus to another needy member in a critical moment.

I'm just angry that we've only even seen Holy Feast once in a location, and it went away from closing the location. Currently my spells are Divine Fortune, Dimension Leap, Cure, and the divine adventure 6 attack spell that gives you divine + d12, d10, and d8 or whatever.

I do wind up with about 1/4 of my turns where I can do 1 explore max and stop due to supporting everyone else, but that is what support characters do.

On Pirates Favor, it says when you discard it to add a die to a check, if the check has swashbuckling then you can play another blessing. But the Pirates Favor card has swashbuckling itself. So doesn't using it that way add swashbuckling to the check, therefore letting you always play another blessing?
