Male Human Fighter 1
Breathing heavier from the action, Thaniel takes a step back to wipe the blood from his blade, giving the surroundings a quick glance before speaking to the rest of the group. "Off to a fair start so far... it seems we have the advantage of a swift start that they did not expect."

Provided that Hookshanks isn't incapacitated by the time my turn comes around, then Thaniel will attack again. With the dangerous and belligerent halfling backed into a corner, it seems to become a reasonably straight-forward affair to continue the onslaught... 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Male Human Fighter 1
By my understanding, the extra bonuses are +2 from flanking and +1 from Inspiration, correct? If not, feel free to subtract the necessary amount from the attack bonus. In the perfect position against this Hookshanks character, whom is meeting a relentless assault from the whole group, an opening is clear and Thaniel attempts to strike home... Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 As the outdatedly well dressed man steps away, Thaniel lunges but the blade goes far too wide. Round 2 action Hearing that reinforcements are coming, Thaniel rushes over to the side of a doorway readying himself to skewer any enemy who dares cross into the room. Attack on the first one who enters the room

"Agreed. Perhaps we should do this swiftly in order to maintain an element of surprise. If Lamm were to know that a group has come together to put an end to his schemes, they'll ready themselves. It sounds as if the man has grown quite comfortable, feeling untouchable. That may work to our advantage.

After the group disperses, Thaniel realizes he has terribly little in order to contribute to their information gathering, and thus spends much of the day pacing in his rented room... practicing his swordsmanship on occasion, but simply too anxious to sleep in anticipating of what's to come. Inevitably, as evening sets in... he travels to Zellara's home, yet is slightly surprised to see it as barren as it is. Regardless, properly outfitted and armed, with additional dark blue bandana in pocket to conceal his identity once things turn to violence. He'll take his same place at the table and listen to anything that has to be said.

"Perhaps one of these someones which he doesn't personally know could keep a subtle watch on the place for sometime? Just to see who is coming and going from there. I'm not a terribly well connected man around the city, so I wouldn't know who to trust personally for information about him."

Never having put much faith into Harrow readings, yet the gravity of Zellara's words impact Thaniel more profoundly than he would have expected. He sits back in his chair letting it all sink in for a minute before Orlando's words breaks the silence. "It's true, we have very little idea of Lamm's fishery or what it contains. I'm in agreement that if we manage to either grab someone who works for him, or even pay off one of the children enough to get an honest response, we should have little difficulty determining exactly what is in that building. We should probably also make sure that when we do strike, it's at such a time guard presence on the street is minimal, just to avoid any complications from them."

Finishing his drink, Thaniel sets the glass on the table, thinking more on the strange fortune to have come up. "Knowing where he lives now... that may be more than sufficient help in seeing justice done. You may consider me in. I would agree that we need to know more about this hold up of his. I would not refuse a reading in the meanwhile as we form our plan."

Thaniel sits back in his chair and things heavily on Zellara's words. "It's true, he seems to be too slippery for the guards to do anything about. If this Westpier 17 is the very core of his enterprise... we may be able to put him and his lackeys down for good. Except for the children, of course. I... am not entirely certain how to handle them. Still.... consider me in."

From what I know about the gradual nature of PbP, I think the more posting is certainly the better. Oh, but advanced warning. I'll be absent from early Saturday until late Sunday. 12 hour work shift, followed by birthday celebration for someone, followed by liquor-enhanced gaming, and possibly even some sleep in there. If it happens that the party is totally ambushed by ninjas, or some kind of dread horror from between space-time, feel free to use Thaniel as you will. I won't be there to post as him.

"I will not judge any for their actions against Lamm. I was to be married, but my love was slain in the night... all for some stupid ring to sell off. None of the guards want anything to do with Lamm, though. It has to stop sometime. The only way an infection like him can be dealt with, is to cut him out. I simply hope that this invitation isn't some kind of lure... a way for Lamm to take care of his enemies in one stroke. I'm very hopeful." Taking a slow sip of his wine, Thaniel sits down at the table in an attempt to get more comfortable.
Male Human Fighter 1
"Perhaps that is in fact the common factor between us", he says to Xu. "If you 'have it in' as you say for Lamm, then I am of like mind. This man must be dealt with. Maybe finally he's made enough enemies? All we needed was something to unify us? That is of course... if that's what's between all of us. The card itself DOES say..."He takes a moment to read his card once again before continuing, '...Others like you' are to be here." Looking over the room casually, Thaniel holds the glass of wine poured for him but does not yet taste it.

To Briar:"I apologize, my name is Thaniel. If no one seems to be answering, maybe something is amiss? Was the door locked?" As Aleixica approaches, Thaniel turns to reply to her. "Indeed, miss. We all received the very same sort of... invitation. However, if we all have the same thing in common, perhaps it is not so safe for all of us to be discussing it on open streets?"
Male Human Fighter 1
Thaniel let's out a breath of relief, the comfort that other strangers are in the same situation lessens the mystery somewhat. "Strange, I'm not familiar with cards like these. But if none of you know who sent these out to us, perhaps the person who lives here does? If so, then we're probably expected. If nothing comes of this, then it's good to know I won't be drinking on my own later."

Having already lost much of his day to aimless meanderings, taking in the city and it's people, and to thinking of the mysterious card. As sunset nears, he reaches Lancet street, still holding the card open in his hand. Approaching the third house carefully, he looks about to anyone who may be there, his posture non-threatening.

Yet another night of restless sleep passed by for Thaniel, he awakens in his room at the Laughing Wave. After a long week of pressing any opportunity for information about Lamm yielding little gave way to ale-ridden despair. Now is a new day, however. He does his best to shake off the weariness, but it grows thicker. The strange card falls out of his glove, a curious sight. He is caught off guard at the faint sting at first, but looks it over curiously, thoughts racing regarding its intention. 'An ally? A trap? Surely, anyone who slipped in and hidden this card must be of some skill... what have I more to lose?' Spending much of the day taking a walk through the city streets, calculating the intentions of this enigmatic invitation... eventually he decides to make a leap of faith and just visit this Lancet street home to see what comes.

No no no, I say keep the Nick Cage face. I usually envision games as TV series and so forth, so it'd be good to have the celebrity casting. Currently working on a restatting of Thaniel. I assumed that urban based game meant having a horse would be more relevant than "leave at the dungeon door", but if it'll still be a burdonsome thing... I've no problem going Free Hand Fighter, something more dexterous. Should be done soon. |
