Only if you are certain it's not too much. I would rather have a hiatus to allow you to deal with whatever troubles you, than have you trudge on reluctantly out of any sense of obligation (not saying that's the case, but just using it as a frame of reference).

I would only want you to continue if it's what you really want. I have another game where the GM needed a break, and it's been 5 months and we still do a roll call once a month to keep the thread active. I can wait until you are certain you want to continue.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I have had great fun in the game. I will still be around if you find you are able to pick back up. Just send me a PM and I'll be right over.

Thaddeus looks at the Doctor, with scrutiny, "Wait a minute. You mean to tell me that a necromancer, the one this crazy man calls the Razor Man, is here in your cellar? Why did you not send word to the city, we could have arrived much sooner and removed this threat even before anyone had gotten hurt. You will have to answer for your possible involvement in these crimes."

Following Bel'Tanis' haste, Thaddeus agrees and confirms, to the half-ogre "Do what you are told, and lock this man back up." To Doctor Habe he adds, grabbing him by the arm, "You are coming with us to the cellar. I dare not waste manpower leaving someone to keep an eye on you, and am even less willing to leave you to your own recognizance and expect to not run."

Anything from the Doctor, based on what I asked him in my last post?

"Thank you, Brother Iron-forged.", he whispers as he pats the man on the shoulder. Thaddeus is worried about the conflict arising between Scoria and Khrondak, but he is thankful for the big man's presence of mind to help him in this instance. With the crazy man talking, he may have just gotten the lead he was looking for, "He wants her to join him? Where? She cannot reach him if she does not know where he is. Was it where he attacked you? If so, where were you exactly?"

Turning to Scoria he admonishes, "The man is not a member of the undead yet. If he can be cured of this ailment, then I must do what I can for him. Not everything is an absolute, and I worry about the reaction you would have if one of us suffered this malady and had not yet turned. Would you be so hasty to put us down if it were Brother Iron-forged, or Bel'Tanis, or me in this situation? I would hope not."

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus, also wanting to stop Scoria, but like usual he does so with words, "Scoria, No! He may be vile and corrupted by dark influences, but he is currently our only lead to the man that did this. If we can in any way dig through his mad speech and get what we need, it is more than we have. I say stay your blade."

Turning to the Doctor, Thaddeus scowls, anger evident on his features, "What is this talk of money and necro... mancy, mancer? You would be best advised to loosen your tongue, as I am of the more reasonable of the group, and it seems you have already angered my companion."

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus looks at the man, concern on his face and frustration, "Do you know if he is able to answer any of our questions, Doctor?"

While awaiting a response, he looks at the crazy man, and speaks clearly and slowly. "Grayst? Is that your name? Can you tell us who attacked you? Do you know why?"

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Sense Motive on the Doctor (for being so tight-lipped) 1d20 ⇒ 9

Thaddeus feels like the answer was a little too guarded and elusive, considering the harmless nature of the question, "Good Doctor, my colleague was not requesting names of any of your patients, or even a discussion of whatever maladies the patients may possess. He is merely curious about numbers. Think of it from a logistical standpoint. He only asked how many you treat at this facility. Maybe for the sake of whether you may or may not be over or understaffed, or whether your facilities are adequate to perform the work you do here. Knowing his line of academia, I would almost venture to guess he would be willing to volunteer to work with you, but that is not my place to say."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Worried that he might not get a chance before Matthias speaks up, Thaddeus rushes out his explanation. "Doctor Habe, I presume? I'm terribly sorry for the intrusion upon your work, but we are here representing the city of Sandpoint and are conducting an investigation. We were informed that you are treating a man here that was recently witness to a crime. We request access to speak with this man as soon as possible to get to the bottom of our case. Might we be allowed the opportunity.?"

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
I'm back from my trip.
Work computer connection is wonky, but if we got the crazy man's name, I use it so he knows who I'm talking about.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus was about to open his mouth to speak, thinking how to be clear and effective for the likely dim-witted half-ogre, but Matthias does his part before he gets a chance. He scrunches up his face, but accepts the fact that at least it worked. He makes a mental note to try and find a way to keep Matthias from 'helping' so often.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus straightens his apparel, and makes certain that his symbol of office is visible, before he knocks very officially on the door.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

This is just a heads up. I will have limited accessibility due to travel from 25 Jul until 9 Aug. I will have my computer, but will only be able to post as the wife and available internet access allow.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus nods, "Yes, I agree. It is the next logical step. As for the spreading of the undead state, I know both ghouls and ghasts can pass it via a bite only. If there are no bite wounds, it will be fine and the families can inter their loved ones as they see fit. I am surprised, Scoria, I did not know you were so well versed on the nature of undead. We should share what we know sometime."

Sorry, but I was the only one to roll a Know Religion on what we found (with a 25 total). It kind of raises the question of what all falls under 'common knowledge' when it comes to certain creature types.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus corrects, "Actually, Scoria, there was at least one link to all the murders we have learned of thus far. They all had the sihedron. Though in light of this new information, it appears that there is also a connection with Notick's uncle. The three men at the farm, and the Harker gentleman at the mill were all employees of his."

He lays a calming hand on Bel'Tanis' shoulder, "We have no reason to believe that Notick is involved. His name was just now introduced as query of being associated. We know his uncle was an issue for him, and he made no secret of his disapproval of the man's methods. Let's not be too hasty in lumping him in with the family business. Not all of us become what our parents wanted us to be." He says this last almost with a touch of shame.

"All in all we have but one person left to question, and sadly he is in a sanatorium, which does not bode well for the veracity of his statements. However, if the Sczarni are involved, we would likely find more truth from the mouth of the mentally unstable than from the habitually dishonest. So, I agree that we should question the insane man, for what it is worth." He appears to not relish the idea that his investigation hinges on the testimony of someone that needs to be locked up for his level of sanity.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus looks both worried and confused, "Mr. Thorn, you may not suffer the same details of death, but if you are convicted of this crime you still face death. If we do not get answers from you, and you are truly innocent, then this very thing could happen to someone else. However, if you are honest and forthright with us, we can bring the true perpretrators to justice. That cannot be done as long as you refuse to help by sharing any information you may know that could assist us in solving this crime."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

In spite of the man's misplaced rage, Thaddeus just sighs and bids Mr. Vinder a good-bye. Once he leaves the room he grabs the nearest guard, and gives him quiet instructions, "Officer, take another guard with you, and seperate Mrs. Vinder and young Miss Vinder out of earshot of one another. Then ask each of them where they were last night, and if anyone was with them. Do not, I repeat, do not ask them if Mr. Vinder was with them. Ask the question open-ended, and if he was, they will fill in the blank."

He turns toward the other cell for questioning and enters near the end of Matthias' spiel. He takes a deep breath, before facing Mr. Thorn, "Please excuse us for a moment?" and he waves Matthias to follow him from the room. Once in the hallway, he speaks to him in a hushed tone, Matthias, I understand your urgency to delve to the bottom of this case, but please allow me to conduct the questioning. I am in need of your capabilities in another way. While I speak with the prisoner, could you focus on any details of either his story or his person that would stand out as damning? While I am trying to coax answers from them, I am incapable of noting as much detail as you are."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
I know I can't influence Matthias, just using it to set the tone of my request.

He hopes it will be enough motivation to get the man to stop 'helping' him interrogate them. He knows at least Khrondak can be scary, and that helps, but Matthias unfortunately seems to come of as abrasive or cruel when he needs to be convincing.

Once he returns to the room, he directs his attention back to Ibor, Please forgive my late arrival. I had just spoken with the other suspect, and it appears he may be released from custody, and be cleared of the charges against him once his alibi checks out. That, sadly, leaves you as the remaining suspect. If you are unable to give us sufficient information, we have only what we know as of yet, and none of that clears you. I am merely trying to solve what looks to clearly be a murder, and unless you are more forthcoming with either information or an alibi, I have no other option than to detain you and let you face the full charges. Whatever fear holds your tongue, cannot be as bad as what punishment you are liable to face if convicted.

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Sorry, hoping you all weren't waiting on me. Was busy with the weekend of the 4th and all.

"Mr. Vinder, we have heard your return allegations, and find them to be misinformed and misdirected. Once we can verify your whereabouts, we will return to see you released, but until then I must ask that you comport yourself with a little more self-control. Might I remind you that the reason you are even a suspect is for your seemingly uncontrolled bursts of anger, and the potential threat they may be towards the young man that died at the mill considering he may have been there in a secret rendezvous with your eldest daughter." With that, he heads with the others to meet with the other suspect in custody, Ibor Thorn.

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
I'm not tracking why Ibor is a suspect? Was he the first to find the bodies, or was there a falling out between him and one of the victims?

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus pinches the bridge of his nose as Matthias and Khrondak 'help' him try to get information. Thaddeus raises his voice, only briefly, for attention, "Mr. Vinder!" before resuming in the most measured tone he can muster in the situation. "I am trying to solve your daughter's murder, and can assure you that regardless of whatever misconceptions you have about the man Bel'Tanis are wrong. I have witnessed first hand his willingness to put himself in harm's way for the greater good of this community, and any incident that happened with your youngest daughter was merely misperception on your part."

Having tried to clear the man's impression of Bel'Tanis, Thaddeus continues, " I am working on behalf of Sherriff Hemlock himself, and as an official member of the town guard. If you wish to be allowed to return to the daughter that still needs her father to be elsewhere other than locked up for the rest of his life, or worse. It would be in your best interests to clear YOUR name from our list of suspects. I am trying to do this the easy way. If we are unsuccessful, I fear my friend here is more than willing to make you more amenable to civil discourse. How, I am uncertain, but it may be the last resort. Now I ask again, where you were last night, and who can corroborate?"

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24, hopefully I can undo some of Matthias' 'help' ;)

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Once Thaddeus is sure the two men have had a chance to look over the bodies, he makes toward where he can question the two in custody. He will first speak with the shop owner, Ven Vinder.

Regardless of the suspect, Thaddeus tries to remain objective and unbiased in his questioning. "Good day sir, and I am sorry for your loss, but I believe you are held based on suspicions about your distatse for the man found with your daughter? What can you tell me about him, where were you last night, and can anyone collaborate this?"

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

EDIT: and Sense Motive for his answers 1d20 ⇒ 17

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus looks at the dead men, not confident in his own ability to spot any certain nuances about them that may lend any clues. He hopes both Mathhias and Khrondak have a better sense of it. Instead he asks about the other men at the garrison. "I heard there were also suspects in custody? Will I be able to speak with them?"

Perception for clues 1d20 ⇒ 2

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Not really 'back' to town, as the sawmill is in town.

Thaddeus is pleased, but disheartened, by the agreement given its apparant reluctant acceptance. He doesn't get why the others are so opposed to accomplishing the nearest task first, before haring off, when they all have the potential to be equally vital to the job at hand. He nods when Scoria decides to take Bel'Tanis with her to see Father Zanthus. He places a hnad on Bel'tanis' shoulder as he makes to leave and speaks softly to him, "Please, dear friend, I would appreciate if you took the lead in speaking to the good Father. Scoria, although rife with her own merits, can be both blunt and abrasive in her manner of speech. We are merely making inquiries as to the state of the dagger, and any information of what it takes to control ghouls or ghasts, but it needs to not feel as if there are accusations."

With that said, he turns his attentions back to the others, "I apologize for my apparant obstinance, but I do feel any clues we may find with either the suspects or the bodies will give us more clues to look for when investigating the scene. Correct me if I'm wrong, Matthias, but is not understanding the people involved in such crimes highly productive in solving them or finding what clues they would leave behind? Let us away."

Turning to Khrondak, he offers, "If you would like, you could probably continue to try and follow the trail you found, as I know it is a time-intensive task, tracking and all. If you left obvious markers for us, we could likely catch up to you before you got too far away. Thereby giving you a headstart to the path you wanted to follow. All the same, I hasten to warn you, that both ghouls or ghasts are very dangerous foes, and not ones to be trifled with alone. I fear for your safety if you were to take on this task outside of Sandpoint by yourself."

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus looks at Khrondak curiously, "Semblance of normalcy? Yet there have been five murders, in but a few days. If we leave town without securing the dagger, we risk more deaths locally. Securing the dagger and questioning those at the prison allows us time to make for the farm soon after. Yet if we go to the farm first, we may return too late for the safety of the community. I do not understand why the farm is such a focus for so many of you? We have people we can question, here and at the sanatorium, yet all the farm contains is where the attack took place where we can only hope clues have been left."

Question, how far away is the farm, and how long would it take to get there and back, by either foot or horse?

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus holds up a finger as a point of contention, "That is exactly my point, but your frame of reference is reversed. The farm happened prior to these murders, as did the man at the sanatorium. Meaning that the killer moved from outside the city to within. They are closer here than the farm or facility. Following the leads here can put us closer than to it than haring off after the older ones. Not to mention, if the dagger is involved, there is greater risk here with Father Zantus. I may regretfully add, that if he were corrupted by it's dark influence, he could potentially be powerful enough to have have control over a more dangerous undead like the ghoul or ghast."

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus puts his hands up haltingly, "Let us not be too hasty. We should look at this from a logical perspective. The sanatorium is most likely the furthest from us, and with the man locked up there, he is not likely leaving soon. We should check on the dagger first and foremost. If it is connected, it is right here in town. If it is corruptive, the good Father may be in danger or in a worst case scenario, involved." A look of concern wears on his face.

"We should expand our investigation outward. Start with the dagger, question those at the garrison held for just such. Then to the farm and sanatorium outside the city."

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus nods, and adds what he's gathered "The stink of the undead this strong could belong to either a ghoul or ghast, both more powerful than the average zombie or skeleton, and capable of genuine thought. To create or control one, there would have to be a caster of notable power. Unless, for some reason it was merely acting on a vengeance possessed before undeath took it in regards to the Sczarni men. The question, though, is how does this tie to the letter left for Midori?"

He begins to pace, thinking aloud, "We have the Sihedron, an attack on local Sczarni, a letter to Midori, and possibly a caster powerful enough to control a ghoul or ghast. I think Brother Iron-Forged's mention of checking on the dagger and it's current guardian would be the first and wisest course of action. From there we can try to work on the connection that ties them all together."

What all does he know about Ghouls/Ghasts based off his roll, and what did my local roll tell me about the two victims here in the sawmill?

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Knowledge religion, 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25, for smelly undead

Thaddeus looks curiously at Scoria for a moment, deep in thought, "Foul-smelling undead you say. I imagine they all smell in a sense, except maybe skeletons having nothing to rot, but smell more than usual to leave evidence of their presence." He mostly is talking aloud to think vice actually asking a question.

After the crowd has mostly cleared he returns to the scene itself. He is looking more for the personal clues, vice the physical evidence. "So, who are these two that they were killed by an undead in the sawmill? Do we have reason to believe that it was a targeted killing, or was it merely a murder of opportunity? Lastly, who was the farmer killed, and is there any connection between the three?" Again, asked mostly to jog his thinking, but he will look expectantly to anyone that may have an answer.

Knowledge local 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 for what he knows of the three victims.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus lets the others get to work at what they do best, specifically Scoria and Matthias investigating the finer details that may offer clues. Thaddeus looks grim at the word of the murders, and then before they get into too much detail, does what he's good at. He holds up a finger to the Sherriff to allow him a minute, then addresses the gathered citizens. "Please, citizens, return to your homes. I'm certain you are all curious as to what is going on, but the good men of the watch will be unable to perform their duties to the fullest if their efforts are spent on keeping people away from the scene. Besides, given the weather's gray turn, if you are to remain, you must all surely become ill standing out here in the rain. When there is official word of the goings on ready to be heard by the public, I'm certain that the good Sherriff or Madam Mayor will put the word out."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus takes the order easily and readily, with a hasty "Yes, Sir!" and a salute he makes haste to find the others. He does not run, mind you, as a running watchman could cause concern amongst the citizenry. He just walks with a prompt yet measured pace. He gathers the others in nearest to furthest before returning to the garrison, allowing him to inform them of what little he was told thus far, so that they may be prepared for an investigative mindset.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus is comfortable in the community, so would look to actually buy a house there. With his job as a member of the watch, he will become a resident of Sandpoint.

EDIT: So he will take the Average lifestyle (10 gp/month: The PC lives in his own small house).

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus spends the majority of his time performing duties as a member of the Sandpoint guard, and his evenings working on learning the spells that were in the spellbook they received. Nonetheless, he makes time to stop for his evening meals at the Rusty Dragon so as to spend some time with his new friends. "Hail, friends. How are you all this evening?"

Ready to move forward, just wanted to IC hear that they decided against going after Malfeshnekor. Other than that, in the downtime he will make all those rolls I did for learning the spells from the book (now that he has the time).

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)
From Shattered Star, which is all about the seven sins and Runelords wrote:

...The seven virtues of rule (charity, generosity, humility, kindness,
love, temperance, and zeal)...

...evocation magic, wrath, and kindness

I know it is listed somewhere else, but I'm not sure where.

So, Kindness is the opposite of Wrath, based off what I've seen.

EDIT: adding the others

abjuration magic, charity, and envy.

conjuration magic, zeal, and sloth.

enchantment magic, love, and lust

illusion magic, humility, and pride

necromancy magic, temperance, and gluttony.

transmutation magic, generosity, and greed

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus seems pensive, but adds his own thoughts, "Sorry, Bel'Tanis, but in this instance I have to agree with Scoria. She holds the key, which potentially means we control its ability to get out. I think we need to do more research or study if possible to find out what this Malfeshnekor is. If it is a lowly denizen of the Abyss, then we can dispatch it easily. We do not know that it is, however, and it could very well be some greater demon lord. Until we have a clue what we might be facing, we are probably best left keeping it contained."

That's okay, currently I don't think Thaddeus wants to check it out. As long as we maintain the key, he feels we are keeping it at bay. If something comes up that makes him think we should investigate, it will likely change his mind, but not yet.

Thaddeus merely nods in agreement with Matthias and Bel'Tanis' statements, not having anything to add.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

I keep forgetting where all we've found the Sihedron, and what we learned from the (gnome?) historian.

I know there was one on the door we didn't open, where we think the demon is, and now the one on the isle. Did we find one under the glassworks in that temple anywhere?

Thaddeus looks at Scoria confused, not understaning someone not wanting to do what he considers the right thing "How can you claim to be so certain of that Scoria? We did not find, nor face Nualia. We do not know what she plans next or where. We do not need a historian to tell us what the star means, we need to find out the relevant connection between the locations of every one we have found thus far. I personally consider no better reason than ensuring the safety of those of this community, but far be it for me to tell you what is more important to you. I had just considered you to be a valued member of our team, and your services most useful in what we have done for this town. I appreciate your work, and can only ask that you reconsider your decision to not be a part of our group while we investigate."

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

"Agreed. Considering there was the seven-pointed star there, as we have seen before, there may be some clues there that help us figure out what is going on with it, or with Nualia and her plans for the Malfeshnekor thing."

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

I presumed, when he told us to leave, he needed time with his son to grieve. I imagine he will handle the arrangements how he wants. Thaddeus will also want to see Father Zantus about the dagger before we return to the isle.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus says nothing, just turning and waving the others away. He hopes to avoid any disagreement with the man like earlier when they discussed his missing son with him in the first place.

As Scoria approaches with the wrapped form, Thaddeus is about to warn her to be mindful of her words, but she says nothing. He is relieved, as she is often blunt, and can be taken as rude by some that don't know her as well. "Mr. Korvut, let me start by saying I feel for your loss deeply, and you have my sincerest sympathies. We found what we believe to be your son, with a stuffed dog that looks much like your own pets. We wasted no time in bundling him with care, and bringing him back to you, so that you may know that he has been found. I can only apologize that we found him many years too late, and I wish there was so much more we could do for you to help in this time of mourning."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Thaddeus looks on at the child's remains with a blank stare, before he starts at Khrondak's words "Yes, of course. Though my Goddess is also one of battle, just in a different vein than yours. A prayer nonetheless is appropriate for now, then Father Zantus can beseech the gods as required when he performs the funerary rights that I can only assume Mr. Korvut will want for his son."

He kneels on one knee, and grips his holy symbol in one hand while resting the other on the wrapped remains held by Scoria. "Oh, Light of the Sword, I ask that you walk with this child through the beyond so that he may arrive at the Boneyard without facing further horror than what has already been visited upon him. Allow him to be held in warmth by your protection, and know safety as your light keeps wickedness at bay. I thank you great Inheritor for your gifts and for your fight against evil, that you would use them for those that cannot face evil alone."

He rises and looks to the others. "We found what we came for. I suggest we return and allow Mr. Korvut to find closure with the return of his son. We can come back later and investigate this place further, as I would feel at odds doing so with the child in tow." This last is more for Matthias, as he knows the man would like to thoroughly investigate the place and any clues it may hold on the Chopper.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus blanches when he discovers the knifes properties, "No one touch the knife. It appears to be a fairly powerful magical weapon, but there is a sinister and wicked malevolence become sentient within it. Who knows what ill this will bring. I feel we must find some way to destroy it."

Which would suck, because there is a lot of GP to be had for this thing :(

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Once Scoria calls up, Thaddeus assumes that she is no longer scouting and he can enter without ruining her hiding place. He descends the stairs, his blade held aloft for light, and once below he does as she suggests in searching it for magic auras. "I can look for auras that are magical in nature, but if it is attached to a darkness I will not be able to tell."

lol, I know I corrected my last Perception for not having my sword drawn, now I'm doing the reverse as I had specifically drawn it to use as the object of my light spell. So, I actually get the +2. Just doing my part to be difficult. ;)

Thaddeus looks around in concern as he too hears the sounds, "Mayhaps they are two different noises that feel as one due to this chamber. Possibly each originating from its own door. Shall we have a look?"

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus looks the room over, using the light on his blade to try and illuminate everything within. Seeing the statue, his curiosity is piqued, trying to remember if he has heard or seen anything like it before. Nothing immediately comes to mind. "The statue is a rather unique piece. I wonder if it represents anything in particular?" Looking at what caused such a reaction from Midori, he comments "It seems that is the same symbol from that door out in Thistletop."

Thaddeus looks at Midori with a raised eyebrow, as if questioning her, "The Sandpoint Devil? From what I have heard that is just a local story to spook kids into not wandering off. You do not actually think it is real, do you?" As Bel'Tanis falls Thaddeus is worried and prepares to move toward the hole, until the man calls out. Instead he draws his blade and casts light on it to help see down into the darkness below.

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Sorry, for slow posting, scheduling conflicts.

Thaddeus makes the long climb to the top with the others, making sure to move slow and steady. Once there, he also sets about looking the place over for clues, both inside and out, primarily focusing on any obvious magical auras that may give away some before unseen clues.

Despite hating the rule, I take 10 on the climb.
Perception in/around the hut 1d20 ⇒ 15
Using Detect Magic.

Thaddeus stops to look at the bones, trying to determine if he can tell how recent they are, and if they look like they were dropped from above or placed. Given that he never really learned a lot about that field of expertise, he asks Midori and Bel'Tanis if they could also tell what he is looking for by looking at the bones. "Please, examine these with me, there could be some clues within them. Do either of you know the best way to determine much about them?"

Thaddeus looks between the two, before deciiding to accompany Bel'Tanis and Midori, but not before indicating the others and asking Khrondak, "If you would be so kind, could you stay with the other two?"

Male Human Whiteblade Magus of Iomedae 4 (AC: 14 (18 w/shield) [T: 10 FF: 14 (18)] | HP: 34/34 | F+5, R+0, W+4 | Init: +2 |Perc: +0/+2 with blade drawn)

Thaddeus nods at Scoria, before addressing in general, "No worries. There should not be a considerable enemy threat, as it were, so close to the town that we need the expertise you showed at Thistletop. I say most of what we would be doing here is looking for any kind of clues from which we could try and garner further information. I say we start at the building and then move outward circularly from there, go over the island with a fine-toothed comb with our eyes open for more than the mundane." With that he heads toward the area of the hut, asking Iomedae to grant him aura sight as he walks.

He will cast detect magic and keep it going all the way to the hut, recasting if necessary due to duration.
