Hi it said on my order history that my world of darkness core book was shipped on the 12th, i even payed for faster 5 days shipping and its now Sunday the 21st. Should i be worried that it was shipped some were else or some thing wierd is happening ?
The book hasnt come out yet i was snooping around the white wolf fourms and some guy was complaining about it. But aparently its pretty much the same thing exept adapted for the Forsaken setting. Im not to sure though how it will work out, even though i didnt play Apocolypse it seemed that there was more of a chaotic feel to it. So that would be pretty easy to insert that kinda thing into it. Im not to sure how there going to make them playable to fit in with the forsaken mythos though.
turns out i dont have to worry about it there comming out with a book of different shifters i belive, like they did in the OWOD.
would it be difficult to adapt the werewolf the apocolypse rules of these creatures to werewolf the forgiven??
really ?? were the foxes pusses or could they hold there own ??
and do you know the source book i could possibly buy it and adapt it to the new rules
DUDE you can be some thing other than a wolf ??? i would love to be a werefox!!! im guessing thats in the OWOD though or could i find that in NWOD ??
whew thank godness i was like WTF there only as good as mortals when thye arent changed!!! thanks you for saving werewolves in my eyes =D

Grimcleaver wrote: Here's the very basics of Vampire and Werewolf (the above posts were at times a bit heavy, so I thought I'd chip in--granted my knowledge of the new game is somewhat fragmented and minimal compared with the old).
Vampire--
You play vampires in a darker horror version of our world. Predatory and instinctive, but social, vampires are driven by necessity to hide their existance from the world, an instinct enforced by the vampire lords (Princes) of various cities. A lot of the action is between more sedate, traditional vampires trying to hunt down crazy rogue vampires threatening the peace--or younger rebel vampires looking for some freedom and representation, yet constantly trying to avoid ending up a pawn of some dusty elder vampire. There are crazy groups of "evil" vampires--especially a terrorist group called VII. Also a lot of the vampire societies either don't get or else actively oppose each other. For example there's an organization started by the Roman centurian who became a vampire after stabbing Christ with the holy lance--who are all about converting all vampires to christian values or destroying them. Another was started by Dracula, detailing ways a vampire can evolve beyond human or monster to something greater. Needless to say they all fight plenty. On top of that you have conflicts with other supernaturals, ghosts, spirits, and of course mortal authorities.
Werewolf--
Same setting but you play werewolves, but not just any werewolves, a group of renegades responsible for the slaughter of their god the Father Wolf. Most other werecreatures hunt you endlessly and your existance is pretty pitiable, since most of the forsaken tend to feel pretty bad about what they've done and are forced to live spartan rootless lifestyles. There's a different type of werewolf depending on what phase of the moon you first changed under that determines if you're a sneaky scout/ninja type, a mystic, a judge, a burly buttkicker or whatever. Mostly the fighting here is trying to band together and survive against the...
why yes yes it did thanks you very much. mmk i understand that does any one have any insight to Changleing: the lost because i have a feeling my friends will choose vamp. but im leaning more towerd werewolf or changleling. (and yes it will be a mixed group)

I would sure love to take part in a good urban vampire war, but in the new system it seems they got rid of that element. The Werewolf Wiki. explained a little more and so far im liking it better, it reminds me alot of the bleach anime. Yes, the new Vampire system got rid of the Camarilla and the Sabbat, the two vampiric powerhouse factions that were constantly at each others' throats. Instead, it's been replaced with the five Covenants and their scheming and maneuvering to secure territory and prestige for themselves. The new Vampire is definitely a more political game, but that doesn't mean that there's no combat. Especially if you work the plot so that the in-fighting between Covenants isn't taking center stage. What if the plot centers around a group of vampire hunters who have come to town? Where did they come from? Why are they here? How much do they know? Your PCs will certainly have all kinds of fun thrashing hunters... until they find one that seems to be more than meets the eye! Is he a rival vampire who's taking revenge? A powerful Mage? It's all up to you! WOW now i like that, sounds more.....hmm subtle, nice ive also been taking a look at changeling ive read about it, but what are some player reviews, and would it be difficult to run a cross species group of vampire werewolf and changeling ?
honnestly i would love for the teifling to be in it my favorite race to play is the teifling there, i love playing the misunderstood good guy who allyays tries to help. and if there core then that will have more people clearing up there name....bot every one likes playing a evil guy so change him to a good guy whoes haunted by his ancesetory. it will make stories richer....teiflings are alot more interesting than a human or an elf.....we know just about every thing about them lets explore some thing else for awile

erian_7 wrote: I feel compelled to respond, as one who faced Bargle decades ago and has used him as a villain in many games since...
Bargle is a cunning, nasty wizard and has survived through countless threats against his life in the world of Mystara. I encourage any DM running this module to play him as such. He'll try to kill the party if he can, and run away if he can't he will not stand around and get killed without significant party preparation and effort.
Now, it looks like the DM for this particular game cut some corners and gave the party an easy fight, perhaps to increase the enjoyment of the game. That's no problem and is the DM's prerogative as the person who must judge what the group as a whole will enjoy. However, when player as written in the adventure, it's almost impossible for an APL 2.5 party to kill Bargle (a CR 7 full-caster), especially in so few rounds. Even without some creative use of "4.0" magic, he has significant magical protections active when the party enters, can lay out a massive amount of damage (compared to level 1-2 characters' hp), and has even more defenses planned if the party gets close to taking him out.
AH with the sanctuary spell i just read the quick cleric description, i was confused. but the Dm didnt try and make him easy he nearly killed the cleric but since he only had 19 hp and was droped down to 10 in the very first round and the adventure called for him making a run for it at 5, he had no chance once that 10 dmg got rolled in round 3 after he dazed the fighter. im not saying he was weak just....we over wealmed him before he could pull out any thing strong.
hah man, thanks for all of the new posts im glad im not the only one who has experienced this. and THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH !!!!.....hah douche baggins, classic
thanks guys. this helps things so much more =)
man i love waking up to great tips in the morning, thats guys for the information you gave me im pretty sure now that my games will be alot more fun and if i have to teach some one else how to DM now i can tel them all this great stuff you guys have told me thank you a million times. i can't wait to create crazy little quirks for my players that are embarassing but hilarious for the other players at the same time, and instead of flooding my PC and myself with Detail just let it slowly leak out and gain speed as the adventure progresses. thanks again guys.
Jake
I vote for Malchanthet ( i probly mispelled that ) shes incredibly dangerous, she creates terrible childeren with demorogon and shes incredibly seductive she can make any one do her will just by being sexy. i mean c'mon shes like the D&D version of poison ivy from bat man. lets just hope she does'nt have demorogon open a portal to the material plane have demorogon destroy and conquer and then cast banish oon him so she can rule.......=(

thanks for the advise i have a few questions about it though. since i usualy use Eberron and Forgotten Realms...
To start with you are lucky that you use those two worlds, as they nearly the only ones getting any 'official' support these days. As far as your question about how to get them intrigued with the setting you need only think about what got you hooked. Was it the pictures of Sharn that you fell in love with? The intermingling of expanded races? Did you like FR because of the characters involved in the world? Maybe the vast amounts of fiction that has been written about the setting?
If they are your friends and they are people you can tolerate for a few hours each week, then you probably have some idea of what makes them tick. Use their particular interests to you advantage in this. Think of characters in movies that they like and figure out what it is they like about them. Get inside their heads and then throw those little details that you know they will bite upon instead of generic problem/reaction/solution situations.
I hope that some of this helps and I hope (know) your games will improve. WOW thank all of you guys you opened my eyes to alot of things. how to be a better DM for one and how to make my role playing experince for myself so much better. I agree i see now i was trying to hard trying to make it dramatic and serious but i found out my friends liked it more when they had to cross the river while gnolls were shooting arrows at them and slipping and being dragged with the current, while one single character makes great rolls and make it across no problem while the other glare in jealousy , and laughing at each other at the same time thank you guys SO much and i think i have alot of new ideas on how to make my party really like the NPC or completly hate the NPC's the are dealing with. and James thank you for pointing out that i was trying to hard, haha not every andventure has to be the quest to destroy the ring and my characters will never do what the DM expects. Thank you again guys
looking forward to RP in a new light

Jake,
Do not take offense to the lack of wanting to create a character. What it seems to me is that you are over-focused on story. What they may be most interested in is "what cool stuff can x guy with x stat possibly do." If they don't want to create story-based characters, then creatively create characters that they know. Say "party Rogue" has an old drinking buddy that just got "party rogue" in trouble. This drinking buddy, as it turns out, is possessed by a fiend that "party cleric's" clergy has been hunting for a few years/centuries. After figuring this out, and much ROLE-playing and investigation later, boom the players become more enthralled with your game world.
Now, as to setting:
Are you using the core rules (generic rpg)or
Greyhawk (slightly expanded on the core rules)
Forgotten Realms
Dragonlance
Iron Kingdoms
Kalamar
Ravenloft
or a Homebrew world
(I could list more worlds, but this starts me out).
When using settings, invest the characters in the world, either through contacts & stuff they could "lose" or people they care about. This may help, it may not, but I find it encourages RP-type behaviors. Remember, reward those players who RP better with slightly better XP awards, mainly to show that this is what you want.
I could go on, but I'd like to be more useful rather than giving generic details. Personally, I didn't want to invest into a character for the first 4 or so years, until I started to get the rules down better (mind you, I started in second edition, which was far from a "rules lite" system). I started expanding on my characters about year 3, when I realized it would make the game more fun for me and the other players. Now, I tend to play "rules lite" games, with RP taking over Rolling, but there are players and DM's out there who really just want to roll, and that's okay. Balance the actors with the grunts & go from there.
/d
thanks for the advise i have a few questions about it though. since i usualy use Eberron or Forgotten realms how could i educate them on the world.....what i mean is how could i describe to them how there being subjected to maybe a racial haterd of some sort. and how could i get them involved in the game world by taking some thing from them with an emotional tie. since they dont have a back story i couldnt just be like your mother was killed by a barghest and he soul was transproted to a lich queens lair go save her....oh what you dont remeber you mom she gave birth to you remeber. i like the exp reward thats brilliant i'll have to use that. manly what im trying to get at is they want to take part in the story listen to what i have to say ask questions and when the fighting takes place not only make it bloody but let them glorify there chracters a little bit. all and all just RP and not roll dice

In other words, will WotC honor the fact that Kyuss has been destroyed in the previous AP or that Demogorgon may or may not be destroyed in the current one, or is what Paizo does with such characters irrelevant in their eyes?
Just a thought I'd like to throw out to the Paizo people.
that would be pretty weak if they did i mean what happens in the D&D worlds should be lasting unless tehy of course get resurected or something of that nature if WOTC just blew every thing off like used up eraser shreds...i would start a protest for Paizo
ive been playing D&D for all most 3 years now i've played with a few different people but nobody seemes to be as passionate about this game as i am. none of my friends that i play with want to give there characters back stories and just make the game fun. they dont want to learn about how much awsome stuff they could do. and all they have to do is open up a players hand book or DM's guide and learn really interesting stuff. since im usualy a DM because my friends have about as much imagination as stagnant pond water I try to make the game action packed because i know they would think its boring as hell if they had to be diplomatic god forbid. im just getting really artisticly frusterated because they just dont care. so do any of you veteran players out there have any advise on how to find good passionate D&D players.
Thanks

And yes, the woman in question is one of our iconic heroes; she first appeared on the cover of #124 (and got almost the entire cover of #125); she's appeared in dozens of other illustrations in Dungeon since then. thank you guys so much. you helped alot oh one more thing in the forgotten realms setting it says tieflings get to cast darkness as a special ability well i plan on using a ice devil or some demon, that have a cold subtype as its ancestor so could i alter that special ability to like a chill touch 1st lvl sorc/wiz spell or could i go for some thing stronger ??

any one know what she is??? I would be interested in creating a character of a male version of her race
She's a tiefling, one of the planetouched races in the Monster Manual. Tieflings are basically a mix of mortals and creatures from the lower planes (demons, devils and such) so while horns, hooves and tails are standard there are a number of variations. FYI, she appears in a lot of shots featuring the Dungeon iconics.
GGG whew....teifling eh hah well i didnt think they could look like that, i usualy make the misunderstood teifling as my PC so thanks its was killing me see looked like she would be a different form of an outside thank you so much for your help cripes i have horrific spelling
