I knew Omara was a potential rival, and I think her teasing of Tavlor is an entirely enjoyable experience :). Lissa too, is a perfectliy reasonable rival. Those two relationships in mind, there is no reason we can't all be friends, and mutually share friendship/devotion with Ameiko. By no means do I intend to take the central role in that relationship at the expense of other PCs.
Sorry to double post, but I had a quick question about the relationships. I'm not sure what benefits they might add later on, and I have been under the impression that we can have relationships with any of the NPCs, but I was wondering what everyone had planned for their characters, as I don't want to step on anyone's toes, or if we are in competition, I wouldn't mind knowing that either ;). I don't want anyone to be annoyed by it, though, so if anyone doesn't like the direction Tavlor goes, please let me know. Tavlor is definitely going to pursue a close friendship and romantic relationship with Ameiko, although, as with all childhood crushes, he may get close and find it's not a relationship he wants to be that close. That will depend a lot on the NPC. He is also going to try to get a rivalry going with Shandru. The guide seemed to suggest Shandru and Ameiko were close friends, and Tavlor is going to be jealous of that. Also, I'm interested in how the AP is going to deal with rivalries. I'm looking forward to meeting him so I can craft a good insult ;). All that said, DM Wellard, or anyone else, if you have a problem with anything I roleplay, I am more than willing to change :).
Tavlor looks serious at Ulf's request. "I'm afraid I must admit a level of ignorance. The battle yesterday was my first real confrontation with evil creatures. Though I was here the last time Goblins invaded Sandpoint, I wasn't able to do anything. Undead... well all I have learned is from Father Zantus. I'm afraid I've spent my learning on topics of magic, rather than those I might battle with said magic." He smiles at that thought. "I was wondering, if we haven't sold that jewelry we found, if we could show it to Ameiko. If it originally came from the Kaijitsu Star she might recognize it or its style or something."
I'm all for you keeping track. My suggestion is no one does anything to their totals until you say so. Maybe put it in bold or something :). I'm waiting until the total comes in before subtracting the fan from my total. Just remember to include it in the total treasure everyone should get a part of.
Tavlor wakes and sees Ulf leaving the church, just as he is getting ready. He hurries, trying to catch up with him, but doesn't catch him until they arrive at the Rusty Dragon. "Good day, Ulf. It will be surprising if we can have quite the adventure we had yesterday, but we should give it our best, eh?"
@Omara I don't mind paying for the fan, I don't really need cash for equipment anyway. If we sell the Hairpin and throwing stars, and figure the "share" of the fan we all get, I can pay the 140 for the fan. In my other campaigns, we usually have one person volunteer to keep track of the treasure and tell everyone what their share is... I don't generally like to volunteer for that job, but if no one else does it, I am willing. However, I would add this warning, I've recently decided to apply for grad school, so at least until my applications are done (Dec ish), I'm going to be seriously busy with that... although I'll need breaks, so I should be able to maintain my frequency of posting. @Rhys I'm sorry to see you go, I would rather you stay, and have a character you like more... but then I want you to be able to GM our other game well too :)
Tavlor enjoys the evening along with everyone else, and has a few drinks that are bought for him, enough that his cheeks are nice and rosy, but his voice is clear and his stride is true enough. Before heading home for the night, he approaches Ameiko one last time. "Ameiko, you have my word I will find out everything possible about this boat and anything that might have been on it." He bows as deep as he can, which is slightly more difficult than he thought it would be.
So, with that roll (barely), unless you want to give me the -4 :(, then my relationship score would go up 2, to 12 There are also levels to the relationship, which have Experience rewards for reaching them, but I wasn't sure you wanted to use that. The move from 10 to 12, would move Ameiko and I from "Friendship" to "Fellowship" so yay :D Whatever that means ;). I'll add the score to my profile.

Well, you're in charge, so you can do it how you like :). But, since it is supposedly a big part of the AP, I think it will be fun. Here's a summary: 1. Score with each NPC starts at your Charisma Modifier.
For Gifts/insults:
Romances:
So, if I am understanding things correctly, my score with Ameiko before the gift, would be:
The Gift should be a DC 10 diplomacy check, which I shall roll over in the gameplay thread.
"Uh, yeah, you can keep the fan," he smiles. "But i'm pretty sure the group wanted to see about any treasure that the map might lead to. We weren't sure exactly where it led, but if you know, I'm sure everyone would be willing to help find out what was there. According to the goblins, if they can be trusted, there were 'bony longshanks' at that spot. We assumed that would be some form of undead, which probably needs to be taken care of if it's so close to Sandpoint."

"No, it wasn't intact. It was kind of a mess. I was only just barely able to see the name of the ship. I had thought to come straight to tell you of it, but as a group we decided to take care of the goblin threat first..." A clouded look passes briefly over Tavlor's face at the memory of that argument. I should probably apologize to them for that. Then his face brightens, "It's a good thing we did, as we discovered more. After we defeated the goblins that attacked us and captured the chief and a couple of others, we were able to learn what had happened with the ship. Although, of course, we had to discern what was truth and lies, and what was just nonsense." Tavlor pauses, a little excited to be presenting his first real adventure to the seasoned veteran in front of him, he does not want to seem too amazed. "In any case, we learned that the goblins had found the ship, and there had been a sorceress living there, named Vorka, apparently she was a cannibal! I'm not sure I believe that bit, but in any case, the goblins killed her, and discovered the fireworks that gave them the confidence to threaten Sandpoint again. It may be presumptuous to assume they were originally on the ship, but it seems likely. Among the treasures they found there, they also found this..." Tavlor takes the fan from a pocket and presents it to Ameiko. "I can't be sure, of course, but it might have come from the ship as well. Do you recognize it?"
Tavlor hesitates a moment, surprised a little at his own boldness. "Ahem... well no, of course not. I wouldn't play any games with such as this. I was going to tell the whole story, but I suppose the rest of the group might fare better in that respect, so I'll get right to the point... as it were." He pauses as he takes in Ameiko's imposing stance, and tries to give her a smile as he delivers such important news. "Earlier in the day, as we were headed to find the goblin village, we found the wreck of a ship. We weren't sure how long it had been there, but it bore the name 'Kaijitsu Star.' As far as I knew, the Valdemars were the only ones with ships around here, so I was surprised to see your name on a ship, but I thought it might have something to do with your family." Tavlor hesitates again, not sure of Ameiko's reaction.

Tavlor smiles broadly at the sight of Ameiko after the long day, and laughs off her concern. "No, no. I don't think they would have been mine to lose in the first place, but they have gone to the sheriff to deliver the goblin chief to him. We managed to capture him alive. It was quite an adventure, but I wanted to come straight here to tell you what we found on the way there, as I believe it may concern you."
