One thing i don't get is if the only way you can get Resolve points is through the Challenge ability, why aren't they the same amount?

At 9th lvl the samurai is allowed 5 Resolve points - but can only Challenge 3/day.

Is this right?

Basically, i've run into a problem with Intimidate. First off, my character is a 6th lvl Half-orc Inquisitor with max Intimidate (25) and i was in town trying to sell off loot.

The merchant offered me a price that was pretty low, so i tried to use an Intimidate check to force him to act more favourably to me (while i roleplayed the haggling, telling him that i wouldn't suffer his cheating ways and to give me what it's worth). I rolled something stupid like 39 on my check.

Well, that didn't work so well, instead of offering me a better price, he went to a panic button and told me to get the hell out of his shop!

I was prepared for him to react poorly next time i go there, but i didn't expect to be intimidated back, instead of it working.

Is Intimidate appropriate for this type of thing? Or do i need to get Diplomacy for trading?

Just checking, am i right in saying that only 1 small creature can fit in one 5ft. square, right?

One of my player's contracted Zombie Rot, but i can't see it anywhere under diseases.

Does anyone have experience with this disease?

*edit* wow that was weird. my post cast Mirror Image. and you can't close your eyes to circumvent it lol!

Just wondering what wicked combos people have for spells? I'll kick things off with my 2 faves. I allow 3.5 spells but for those that don't i'll put a note on 3.5 combos.

3.5Druid: Entangle; Briar Web; Plant Growth. Opponents have to make a Strength or Escape Artist check to move, if they try they take damage, if they succeed they can only move 5 ft.

Sorc/Wizard: Wall of Fire; Wall of Force. Shape both walls into rings, they burn and die. hilarity ensues.

If you've got cover (+4AC) do you still threaten?

I know you don't get AoO but nowhere does it specifically say what constitutes the threatened condition.

Can anyone find a reference to what is threatening and does cover nullify it?

Cheers.

Hey, had an idea for a new forum, if you guys like i think it would be pretty successful.

I was thinking, a lot of threads start, either in General Discussion or Rules Questions - now in the Advice Forum, about possible character builds.

There are HEAPS of builds and combinations of classes that Pathfinders talk about, maybe we could put them all in one forum - Builds?

I know Paizo wants to encourage single class characters, and i like the idea of that as well. But even within a single class there are many different combinations. Think single class Fighter builds, for example.

Anyway, just a thought. What do you guys think?

First, if this is in the wrong forum, apologies. I thought this would be the most appropriate place to ask a question concerning a 3.5 issue.

If you can double your natural healing does that double the amount of ability burn you heal, as well as your ability damage?

Specifically, I have a Elan Psion with the feats Body Fuel (recover 2 power points by taking 1 ability burn) and Mind Over Body (heal ability damage and burn = 1 + Con mod). My Con mod is 3.

So say I recover 16 power points - I take 8 ability burn to all my attributes. After 8 hrs of rest I heal back 4 ability burn.

What happens if someone casts Healthful Rest (SC) on me? Normally, this doubles my natural healing in regard to ability damage, does it also double the amount of ability burn I heal?

Does anyone know why if you're flat-footed/prone/paralyzed you don't get a penalty to your Reflex save?

Seems weird. I mean if you're paralyzed you have an effective Dex score of 0. So you have a -5 penalty instead of your normal modifier. I guess that's a penalty but IMO you shouldn't even be able to make the save - how can you have reflexes if you can't move???

So in protest at the redundancy of the Evoker and sick to death of Summoners (the wizard variety) and 'God' wizards i'm trying to optimize a blaster.

Allowed resources are PFCore, Completes, ToB, XPH.

I'm 6th lvl and gone Wizard 3(Evoker)/Master Specialist 3. Planning on taking MS to 10, then maybe Archmage?

I've taken the feats: Precocious Apprentice, Spell Focus (Evocation), Craft Wondrous Item. Planning on taking (Gtr)Spell Penetration.

Next lvl i get Gtr Spell Focus for free as a MS.

So...any ideas on maximising the damage output from my AoE spells? Feats, ACF's, Magic items?

Hey, last game we were confronted with a gold dragon (the same one that killed my last character) and we were in a bad way. I had no spells left that could turn the tide (i'm an evoker) but we had been given a 'infinite spellbook' that contained every spell up to 6th lvl from the Spell Compendium. I had the idea to use the spell Prismatic Ray straight from the book as a scroll (thereby removing it from the book).

I'm pretty sure it was legit, but any thoughts to the legality of this?

hey, can anyone find where it says that amulet of natural armour, rings of protection etc. are limited to +5? Or can you go as high as you want?

I thought not, but am struggling to find a specific ruling.

Hey, just writing a new character, thinking about taking Monk 1/Sorcerer X build. Gonna take Ascetic Mage feat. Any ideas for optimization?

Playing Pathfinder RPG. Allowed books are PathFinder Core plus 3.5 Completes, ToB, XPH.

Party includes rogue, cleric/crusader, fighter. 6th lvl party.

Stats:
Str - 10
Dex -16
Con -14
Wis -12
Int - 12
Cha -18

I'm still not 100% on this build. I'll either play a aasimar or elf (if i end up with a wizard) pumping my primary stat to 20 - headband of +4 with crafting will make it 24. Going 1 lvl of monk improves my AC by 8 and it keeps going. Is it worth it tho? My other consideration is a gish with (close to) max CL. Thoughts?

I'm writing up a conjurer (specialist wizard) and trying to think of feats/ACF that would be handy. I want to be more of a strategist than a summoner, so not that keen on Augment Summoning etc. I've checked out TreantMonk's guide, pretty good, just wondering if there's anything else that can give my wiz a bit of a kick.

I'm thinking Elf Conjurer
Feats: Not sure yet, maybe Dodge, Toughness, Great Fortitude etc. Basically defensive, but not really happy with that. I'd prefer better/more spells.

Any ideas?

btw, only Core PF and 'Complete' 3.5 books allowed.

and no summoner :(

If you're attacking with 2 weapons do the attacks occur simultaneously?

If so, if you're invisible is the target flat-footed for both attacks? I'm not talking about surprise round here - middle of fight, wizard casts invisibility on rogue, rogue 5 ft. steps and has full attack action on 2 seperate opponents - are they both flat-footed?

This is widely open to interpretation, what i'm looking for is a specific reference to the rules pls.

So, we had a random encounter and the DM rolled a young gold dragon (CR 11). The 4 man party is 4th lvl. Not surprisingly everyone flew away (yeh, they've got wings being 1/2 fiend and 1/2 dragon). I don't have wings, so it's me and a gold dragon (oh, i'm evil too), and somehow I managed to convince it that I would betray the party and lead them to its lair, so he can devour them. We're now 5th lvl and nowhere ready to take on a CR 11 (plus all its minions, etc).

All 'Complete' books are open as well as Spell Compendium. So i'm gonna load up on anti-dragon scrolls + Assay Spell Resistance.

Any ideas on how to turn this one around? Tactics? Cheap tricks? anything at all at the moment is better than the bitter taste of desperation.

Cheers

Hey, first of all, i know that there's been many threads on monsters as PC's and i have no intention of starting up a discussion on whether or not PF should make a Savage Species-type book. I'm aware that p.313-314 of the Beastiary is just a guide, however I'd like clarification on what it actually means please in relation to a half-fiend template.

Here's how i understand it, if anyone could explain if (and how) i've got it wrong, it would be much appreciated.

When the group's between 6th & 7th lvl, I go up a class lvl, and then again at 7th. So everyone in the party is 7th lvl (and i get xp as a 9th lvl, CR +2)

When the group's between 9th & 10th lvl, I go up a class lvl, and again at 10th. So now i'm an 11th lvl character and getting xp as a 14th lvl character (CR +3)

What i don't get is why when the party's 10th lvl, i'm 1 lvl in front.

If someone could please explain how the progression works that would be excellent.
