A single Aid Another boosts AC/CMD against a single attack, and multiple AA's from a single ally don't stack (since I believe each has to be attributed to an incoming attack). So for that Attack of Opportunity, Scorp's Aid Another boosted Talon's AC to 18 ... so he still got hit. The rest of those rolls will go on any further attacks Talon is targeted with. And I believe the damage from that AoO is applied as a bonus against the provoking grapple. :/

Talon rushes past the spot where the crocodile disappears, running up next to Bambang and reaching out to try to grab the fox-man. Move up and grapple (this provokes from him)
Scorp is ready to intercept the fox’s reprisal.
Further Aid Anothers via Bodyguard: Aid Another, for AC, DC 10: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Aid Another, for AC, DC 10: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Aid Another, for AC, DC 10: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 Aid Another, for AC, DC 10: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Sorry, I should be back to regular posting now. Hoping he’s not too late, the Trog-Talon grows a pair of horns and unleashes with everything he’s got on the croc. Swift for Battleshape to gain a Gore attack, then full attack (with Power Attack).
Scorpion rolls: The scorpion will Aid Another to boost Talon’s AC versus the Croc’s first attack against him.
Aid Another, DC 10: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21; success! Then here are 4 more AoO rolls incase more attacks come in at Talon, all used to boost his AC.

Talon pulls a vial from his belt, shaking it up to activate its ingredients as he mutters a few power words. Then he drinks it. His form shifts and stretches until he's no longer himself, but a cave-dwelling lizard-man. He stomps forward, trying to relieve his new pathfinder friend. "I'm coming, Hanzo," the troglodyte-Talon hisses. Cast Alter Self into a Troglodyte. Then move forward adjacent to the croc.

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7 Talon, not seeing anything immediately apparent, begins circling the room, looking for more scroll fragments. unless interrupted, Talon will take 20 to search this room.

Talon watches they flee with a scowl. "Hopefully we won't see them again," he mutters as he checks on his teammates. "Anyone hurt?" Then he goes about helping the team search. Taking 20 on Perception for 20 total.

"LEAVE THEM BE!" roars Talon as he crashes through the water, bringing his huge sword down in a vicious chop. Close on the nixie (provoking AoO's from the tooth fairies) and CUT HER! (w/ Power Attack)

No problem. It's a big rules system with tons of details. Nobody gets it all right. :) Talon points at one creature, shouting out information about their foes. "She's a Gormandelle. A nixie. Water creature. Hit her with cold iron, but she'll resist magic." Then he points at the other two, "Tooth fairies. They're quick, can put you to Sleep or Paralysis, can turn invisible, and will explode when killed. Use cold iron on them." He takes a quick breath, then struggles through the water to hack down on the nearest tooth fairy. Move to closest tooth fairy, power attack it. (sword is cold iron)

Quick clarification, DM. Do they have DR against cold iron? Or is cold iron what bypasses it? "DR5\cold iron" means a creature is resistant to physical damage unless its dealt by cold iron. Just trying to make sure the team is well-informed. Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3 Id love to get that clarification on DR before I choose Talon's actions. :)

Sorry about the lack of Perception; I posted in a hurry. Talon watches the team work efficiently together, then nods at Bambang’s observations about what they’re likely to encounter next. Does Talon know anything about this Lady Gorger? He’s got a +6 in Arcana, Dungeoneering, Local, Nature, Planes, and Religion; and a +7 in History. I’ll make one roll.
As they try to force the door open, the big warrior throws his strength into the support effort. Strength check, Aid Another to Selter, DC10: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21; success! Selter's check is up to 24.

Talon watches stoically as the undead bird is shaftered and falls into the water. He waits carefully to make sure it doesn't rise again, then nods to Bambang for his efficient, powerful work on the creature. He pulls a wand from his gear, activating it to slowly heal his wounds. (One charge from Wand of Infernal Healing for full HP.) He holds it up for anyone else's use before putting it away. (Claim a charge from my wand if you need it, everybody.) As he further investigates the light in the water, he thinks aloud. "The scraps we find seem to reflect the creatures and situations we encounter. Let's see if we can find more scraps. Maybe they will give us an idea of what else we can expect." Are there more scroll scraps to find in this area? And does closer inspection give us more details about the light under the water?

Talon gives a quick look over at Hanzo, then watches the bird warily … his blade held ready. ”We’ll see.” Given that info, Talon will ready an attack on the vulture should it make any aggressive actions. Readied Attack: Greatsword, power attack: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 1 = 21
damage: 2d6 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 + 3 = 15

The Temp HP from False Life absorbed the first 8 of that damage DM (unless it’s worn off or something since I cast it). Thought that might simplify your HP tracking. :) Talon is rocked backwards by the attack. His mouth stretching into a muzzle as he howls in pain, then tries to lash back out at the vulture-thing. Swift to use Battleshape to gain a Bite attack, then full attack the vulture (w/ power attack).
Struggling to hit the thing, and hurting from its attack, he growls out to the team, ”This won’t last long if we don’t take this thing down.”

Seeing Selter and his sneak engage the flying worm thing, Talon turns his eyes on the undead vulture. He pulls a wand from his waist, sending an arcane orb to hit the creature unerringly. Draw Wand of Magic Missile, use it on the undead vulture

Alright, I’m back in town. :) Talon quietly observes through the interview … trying to pay attention but mostly being mind-boggled at a floating, talking fish. With a muttered thanks, the tall Kellid man follows the group down, whispering a Light into existence as the darkness overtakes them. Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11 With his greatsword shining like an unwavering torch, he steps down into the water, squinting ineffectually into the darkness, then down at the glowing thing. ”Hmmm…” he mutters, trying to detect for magic residue on the light as he pushes through the water. Casting Detect Magic and moving towards the source of the light. Remaining in the water (Talon's Strength alone is enough to succeed on that Swim check).

Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5 Talon splashes into the room, heedless of the water. He looks over his left shoulder in surprise, spinning a full circle searching before realizing he's once again the target of Ai's "attention". He moves forward, scowling as he readies to support her if necessary. Spellcraft, DC 15: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Talon gives Ai a small wave and equally small smile, though his expression falls back to a stony scowl at the exchange between her and Dax. Luckily, Shane takes the reigns of the conversation, and Talon is thankful to get swept up in the familiarity of a briefing ... as unexpected as this one turns out to be. He nods at Bambang's astute question, but shifts his attention over to the culprit of this mess. "What was done that started the flooding? Where were you in there when it happened?"

A young Kellid man walks up. Like many of his kind, he’s tall with long, well-muscled limbs. Unlike many of his kind, though, he doesn’t wear the customary kellid leathers and furs. Flexible, darkleaf armor fits snugly over practical, rugged soldiering clothes and boots. And on one shoulder rests the heavy blade of a massive two-handed sword. The rest of his gear is what most pathfinders have come to expect … a travel pack, vials, and pouches. He stops in front of Master Shane, his dark eyes touching on the inexperienced-looking man before returning his scowl to the Master of Scrolls. ”Talon. Reporting in, sir.”

________ And one important note, DM Batpony: Talon's familiar has the Protector archetype from the Familiar Folio. It's an important element of his defenses. His scorpion remains on his person, and pretty much spends every round using its standard action to either Aid Another to boost Talon's AC or Ready an action to do the same, and I try to be proactive round-to-round to inform you which opponent should be targetted by these actions. Additionally, because of the Loyal Bodyguard feature, Scorp can use his 4 AoOs per round to reactively use Aid Another actions to boost Talon's AC. Given the nature of PbP, how do you any to handle this? Should I put up 4 pre-rolled AoOs every combat round for you to adjudicate as they are needed? Or would you prefer to roll those for Scorp as attacks come in on Talon? Or do you have a better solution? Let me know.

Yah, I'm hoping to patch up that fall-off by taking a level of Bloodrager (w Extra Rage) and going Eldritch Knight. My hope is to be able to use Polymorph spells to give me combat oomph and flexibility. But I'm aware that he may only ever be okay. Until we get a true shape changing warrior (who isn't a tree-hugger), it's the best I can think of. KeeperofRunes has not created a profile. |
