Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

It's a real shame, but I understand the importance of RL over games. I wish all of you the best of luck, may our paths cross again someday.

** Talon angrily smashes out of the roof **

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

*Cala sees Talon do 100+ damage with one hit*

"Make sure we leave one alive..."

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Welp. Talon nuked the s~%* outta that healer.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Talon roars; his fury at the guerrilla warfare, the cowardly attacks, the cleric who won't die. He passes a hand over Rygat lighting fast, letting the weapon completely open itself to the flow of magic as it bursts with electricity, then he brings down the weapon on their pesky healer.

Casting shocking grasp, using 1/day empower on it and full attacking.

Dice and Math:

Attacks: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 281d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Damages: 1d6 + 7 + 1d6 + 9d6 ⇒ (3) + 7 + (4) + (3, 1, 1, 1, 6, 6, 3, 6, 1) = 421d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 7 + (1) = 14 28
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
Crit Damage: 1d6 + 7 + 9d6 + 1d10 ⇒ (5) + 7 + (6, 3, 4, 2, 6, 2, 1, 5, 1) + (5) = 47 30

28 to hit on first, 32 to confirm. 14+12+5+58(1.5)=118 damage.

14 on second if it hits.

Wow, dead. That's just mean.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Not to rain on the parade (or my flanking buddy), but aren't summon monster spells normally full round actions?

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Understood, thanks.

Talon arrives in the room, the words of the latest ritual just barely off his lips. His already shortened temper from the guerrilla warfare and nearly being interrupted is not helped by the blatant attack on his work (well, somewhat his). He goes strait for who he assumes is the divine caster (female robed person), flying forward and passing a hand over Rygat to engulf the weapon in flames. The sword comes down towards her neck as Talon roars his anger.

Charge Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 13 + 2 = 33
Damage: 1d6 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + (1) = 9
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 18
Crit Damage: 1d6 + 7 + 1d10 ⇒ (6) + 7 + (10) = 23

Spending 1 arcana point to enhance my weapon by +3, then spending all of it to make Rygat keen and flaming burst. Then charging the (I assume) spellcaster.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I'm still doing the ritual, aren't I? Or is that over? How many rounds did I have to prepare? Sorry, been a long week for me.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

S~%#. Talon's almost sick of thinking the word. He heads up cautiously but quickly, sword drawn.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I understand that the dice just weren't in my favor, s~!# happens. Talon is massively frustrated. Between that and the ripoff guy he wants to seriously blow off some steam. That and Cala being taunted by the creature too powerful for him to handle aren't helping.

Cala's call on the Golem. She knows the most about it.

I'm all for the throne plan. We could do some simple traps as well as some more alarm spells (we should get a wand of that).

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

S!@%. Talon casts shield on himself, then flies through his wind wall to see if the archers are still around.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Spellcraft;Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 181d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 Derp.

Talon moves directly towards the mouth of the cavern, then casts wind wall at the mouth. "Now come out and fight me like men!"

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

"S$%&. I think we're under attack. Contact the others, I'll go try and see what's going on." Talon leaps headfirst out the nearest window, diving down before snapping his wings open and coasting over the slaughter. He tries to find the source of the arrows.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Talon shakes his head, hard frown set after the departing Ezra.

Auran:
"It was my own fault, I was careless with my words. I forget that under all her rage there is loss. I understand that better than most."

Talon absentmindedly picks at one of his feathers. "I don't like the idea of Sindran, or any of us, doing that every day. You don't get cut up as often as the more martially inclined ones of us do, but every wound takes a bit away from you. A wound that serious is numbing."

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I didn't realize that hit so close to home for her. Still, gotta RP that 6 charisma beyond "I don't say anything".

Talon nearly draws Rygat when he realizes the jab was a lot more insulting than he intended. Fighting her was not something he looked forward to, especially since she didn't fight in the style of mortals. Most of his training would be useless.

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17

Talon is too preoccupied by the sudden onslaught to concentrate.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

"Bet you miss it, don't you?"

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Talon nods understandably. "Of course." He walks over, standing next to her with a hand on her shoulder protectively.

It's interesting to see the strength/int character who dumped charisma feeling a connection to the charisma/int character. Like, he's ugly and socially inept, but they have the same interests and trust each other. It's a classic possibly-tragic love story that's interesting to see in the midst of all this evil scheming.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

INT: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Talon frowns. "We know there are four...but that doesn't mean there isn't more than four."

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I'm not killing something, so my rolls are low. Trust me, if that cleric suddenly tried an escape attempt and I attacked her I'd roll a 20.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

You crafty bastard.

Haha well done IB, those completely slipped my mind.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Oh that would be hilariously cruel if IB gave us an 'untrue' follower of Sarenrae.

Remind me, what is the third sacrifice?

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I'm pretty sure that adventuring party had a cleric of Sarenrae who is currently residing in the dungeon.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

On don't worry about it DM, winning them all makes it boring.

However in game, that bastard is dead. Especially since Strix naturally hate illusions; they literally get a bonus against them.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Oh he's dead. I assume you rolled Talon's will save off screen?

Talon checks the arrow again to make sure it's real, then furiously heads back to the town. Once on the fringes he uses his circlet to disguise himself as a fairly normal looking nice human; the idea is to look like a good target. Then he goes wandering into the same area with a worried expression on his face.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Thanks! I think it would be interesting if Talon every got to see his tribe again. There would be...interesting conversations. However that's probably quite a few miles from the tracks of the main campaign.

Talon nods, grabbing the book and arrow and tucking them away on his person. He moves his way out of town, and once he circles back to make sure he wasn't followed drops his guise and takes off to the Horn.

So what did you think Rygat? Did you approve of my actions? Talon has decided that instead of living in fear and confusion of the blade's abilities, he would become more familiar with it.

Once back at the horn Talon let's the others know what he has acquired, then sits down and begins reading.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Oh dear 24 int haha.

Talon thinks for a moment, wanting to give him something real but not sure what he wouldn't know that wouldn't compromise the knot. Finally he settles, somewhat reluctantly but with an air of acceptance.

Talon tells the scholar of the strix tribes. He tells him how they were scorned by the gods and sent to this land as punishment, how humans hunted them for sport, how their culture and family works, and some of their brief history. He includes much detail on the subject, but carefully avoids telling of their location at all. When he finishes he stands in silence for a moment, then picks up the items. "I trust that will suffice?"

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Ya. I'll win that one.

Talon looks at the arrow, then scans it with magic.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I changed Talon's sheet to a neater, more updated version but in the process accidentally deleted my loot. I asked for help in discussion but nobody seemed to remember anything.

"And what would such an arrow do?"

"I had more of...information trading in mind. That is your pursuit, is it not?"

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

"One does not have to wish to kill a dragon to learn how. There are many things I know how to kill that I have never met." He grins, going back to the draconic book. "An information gatherer you say. What would you say to...a trade?"

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Sorry, my bad.

Talon sets down the book, turning to look at Thelmon. "You still didn't answer my question."

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Talon scratches at his neck absentmindedly, perusing the rest of the available knowledge. He doesn't appear to be about to take action or get violent at all. Rather just having a philosophical discussion about hypotheticals. "You didn't answer my first question." He gently leafs through another tome. "What is your name?"

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Talon looks at the book for a moment, letting it hang loosely in his hand. "And who put the idea in your head that I wanted to kill a dragon?" He gently sets the book down. "And even if I did, what would prevent me from simply taking the book? Not exactly a reportable crime considering the contents of the book and the situation."

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Talon listens carefully, growing a small amount of respect for the man. He steps in slowly, looking around at the books. A type of knowledge seeker himself, Talon generally peruses to see what the man has, keeping an eye out for anything about silver dragons.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I don't even know what I don't know. Although I suspect he poisoned me when he shoved me.

Rolls: 1d20 ⇒ 121d20 ⇒ 111d20 ⇒ 1 I think the dice gods are unhappy because it's not open combat.

Talon growls, getting up on his own. "You've got about two seconds to start talking, I'm tired of this run around b*&*&$#+."

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Int: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Time to take the BSF approach.

Talon looks the man up and down, eyebrow arced. "Is that so?"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

"Seems like a good idea than." The man seems trustworthy, but all the same Talon suspects an ambush. He makes sure to keep his senses sharp and his hand on Rygat.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Well the Baron has one thing right. Talon gives a smirk as he follow Cole.

Since Talon is useless at anything charisma based he will follow Cole around for information gathering then do some scouting in the sky.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I wasn't aware I was with the Baron, I thought Talon was going around town trying to find stuff out about the dragon. Not that he's any good at that. Perhaps Talon could fly around for a while and try to spot it, they can't be too hard to spot.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Oh I don't get a choice of how Rygat progresses. He has become +3 now, has an ego of 12, and now I can teleport him into my hand. I can't remember if his arcana pool got a bump, but I don't think so.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Great. Silver dragon. Talon (in disguise as a tall white haired elf) asks around about the dragon, including questions like the dragon's strength, age, and where he could speak to it.

I don't know what rolls would be associated with that. Maybe a gather info and knowledge check?

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Also DM, note the changes in Rygat. He gets significantly more powerful at this level, including a bump in his ego that increases my chance to fail a will save against him by 10%.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Talon is updated for level 9. I chose the Ghost Blade magus arcana as well as some utility spells; this level added a lot of versatility to his build. Also, making Rygat a brilliant energy weapon is going to be hilarious.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

HP: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

"Completely depends on how powerful the dragon is. I have no intention to start s+%% with a dragon that's beyond our power."

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Ooh-la-la, Talon and Cala time ;)

BTW Cala I really liked that picture for Talon you found. Once he can cast in heavy armor he'll look pretty close to that.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

That fight was epic hahaha.

As the message arrives Talon stands. "I think I'm best qualified to go scout about this message."

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

That. Feat. Is. Fantastic.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

New magus arcana and teleport blade. Hmm, maximize arcana maybe?

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

Ya the will save vs the black blade isn't terribly hard at this level. At higher levels it gets more dangerous, doubly so because of a magi's damage potential at that point.

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

S##$.

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Talon forces down the will of the blade again, but still feels it's power growing stronger. These are not wild beings with no self control, they are potential minions who can help us achieve our goals!

Male Strix Magus (Bladebound) 9

I was totally thinking Cala was going to say "Yeah I can help with her." *Raises her as a zombie*.
