What about the Enruned Dagger third party Arcana? Is there any way to make a bastard sword into a light weapon?

Thinking of doing Strength because I am thinking about a Bladebound Hexcrafter with a one level dip into fighter.

Not optimal by any means, but I think I want to take:
Possessed Hand
Hand's Autonomy
Two Weapon Fighting

I'll use a Major Drawback to get there more quickly, since I settled on Half-elf for the Elf Magus Favored Class bonus. I may decide to get my Exotic Weapon Proficiency from Half-elf too. The other option would be to get my Exotic Weapon Proficiency from the Weapon Champion 3rd party Fighter Archetype. It would make me proficient whatever other swords I might want to use too.

Two weapons might be nice when my arcane pool starts to run dry.

Liberty's Edge

Okay. What if I remained dual wielding, but ditched the levels in Arcanist and didn't attempt the second black blade?

Keep in mind that wielding two weapons isn't necessarily two-weapon fighting. Two-Weapon Fighting involves gaining additional attacks over and above your iterative allowance from BAB. But you can fight with two weapons using just your iterative attacks and it isn't TWF; you suffer no attack penalties nor reduced Str bonus to damage because neither weapon is an off-hand. So, for example, you might have Defending on one weapon and stack the other one with more offensive abilities. Lets say you have 3 iterative attacks. You could make the first two with your more offensive weapon, then make the last attack with the Defending weapon, pumping all its enhancement into AC bonus. It doesn't matter if it hits or not, just that you attempted to attack with it, and now you have some AC bonus by burning your least accurate iterative attack (that, lets face it, probably wouldn't have hit anyway).

Though, honestly, I'd find it more interesting to have a Double Sword with a different intelligence in each end. Maybe a pair of Black Blades that were welded together?

A Black Blade has to be a one handed sword, a rapier, or a sword cane. I'd like to stick to my concept anyway. Human, two Bastard Swords.

I'm not sure if there's a way to give them the Defender enchantment, but I'll look into it.

I really like your idea for how to play it, but I'm not sure that I fully understand. Basically you just stick to the number of attacks provided by your base attack and you don't receive penalties for making use of different weapons?

There's also the 'Animate Weapon' Magus Arcana. A second sword doesn't necessarily have to be in hand to be of use perhaps. It would possibly keep me from having to use Still Spell feat or Spell Storing equipment.

There are already multiple threads about whether or not it is illegal. It's ambiguous. I'd much rather focus on trying to make a build that could work than discuss the legality, because that will come down to the specific GM in the end.

Two bastard swords is not ideal, but I'm not trying to minmax. Just trying to make a fun character that doesn't totally suck.

Boon Companion wont work unfortunately, as they are neither animal companions nor familiars.

Liberty's Edge

Hi there.

After reading about it being possible to have two Blackblades, I decided that it might fit a character concept of been trying to fnd a way to create for a while.

Here's the thread I found it in: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2rfsm?Would-you-two-Shut-UP-Twin-Black-Blades-a nd

Requirements: It means I'd apparently need to take 3 levels in Magus (Bladebound) & 3 levels in Arcanist (Blade Adept) to have both blades.

Preferences: I'd very much like to be a Human (maaaybe a Half-elf) who uses two Bastard Swords (I'm aware that it is not the best choice, but it's how I envision the character).

Problems I can see with it: Casting spells with somatic components (with full hands), being weak in the late game, Shortage of feats (unless I am Kensai), reduced spellcasting ability, and low AC or BAB may be a problem (depending on build).

Anyone have any ideas for builds that could make this character somewhat viable? I don't them need to be the strongest character ever, but I would like to get some help with making them the best that I can within my modest parameters. All input is appreciated.

I have been contemplating following the Eighth Act of Iomedae:

The Eighth Act
Convincing the graveknight known as the Black Prince to throw himself upon his sword as punishment for his evil is considered Iomedae's Eighth Act. This righteous suicide redeemed the undead knight's soul and allowed him to be judged in the Halls of Aroden.

If I need to give my life to save others, then I readily make that sacrifice.

Well, this would follow a certain inverted symmetry. Somewhat similar to the destruction of the black blade actually.

Give your life to save another, rather than take a life to safe your own.

Get judged.

Get resurrected.

I think you were on the right track.

Hi,

So, I'm pretty new to pathfinder and I'm building a character for a pirate themed game. I think I want to go with the bomb and gun awesomeness that is Grenadier/Pistolero, but I'd like to do the reloading and whatnot with Witch's Prehensile Hair, rather than a Vestigial Arm or Tentacle.

I'm considering Sea Witch archetype, because of the theme of the game, but it would require me to take 2 levels in order to get the Prehensile hair, I think, so I'm not set on it necessarily.

So, I need your help with most parts of figuring out the build please. What classes/archetypes, feats, and so on, at what levels? I start out level one, but will be playing this character for the foreseeable future. I'm pretty sure I'll only ever need 5 levels in Pistolero. I know that much from reading through the forums. I'm open to being other races, but Human (or Half-elf, or something relatively close to Human in appearance,) was the original plan.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. I really appreciate it, as my head is spinning from trying to absorb everything Pathfinder in a very short amount of time.

Sindalla, Green Faith Acolyte confuses me. You have to be able to cast level 3 divine spells to become one, but it has this ability:

Companion Bond (Ex)
At the indicated levels, a Green Faith acolyte increases her effective druid level by 1 for determining the abilities of her animal companion. If she has no animal companion, she instead gains a druid animal companion, treating her effective druid level as 1/2 her class level (minimum 1).

I'm trying to figure out how I could use it.

Liberty's Edge

I am aware that shooting a bow while riding is bad unless you have a feat. I haven't decided yet if I will get the feat or only ride when necessary. I just think the option is kinda cool.

The eagle domain idea is a good one. I'll look into it.

Thank you, Sindalla. I'll check it out.

Liberty's Edge

Aditionally, I just discovered that i can take qinggong monk to better optimize my monk levels, since there are a number of useless abilities for an archer type. It, for some reason, is allowed as a second archtype for monk.

Liberty's Edge

Fair enough. I was thinking of making up for the poor AC with spells and keeping attackers at bay with companions. I feel like the stat synergy is there and, for druid, charisma is not a complete dump if you want anything to do with animals. A low strength and constitution are how I make up for it.

Str 10
Dex 14
Con 10
Int 12
Wis 18
Cha 14

I'll consider ranger, but that means my animal companion level will take an even bigger hit and I will only be allowed one. Boon companion couldn't even make up for that and I would be forced to defend myself in melee with a modest AC because of a lack of spells and companions. I also wouldn't even have a weak companion until level 4 and it wouldn't get much better until level six.

Any ideas how to make druid work? Boon companion is sweet. Thanks. And I can make up for it only being for one animal by taking some extra care with their advancement.

Barkskin, cure spells, hydraulic push, entangle, ect. can be used to help keep me safe at low level. Spells will continue to make up for reduced monk AC from leveling(which wasn't much anyway)

The archery side of things is trickier. Reduced BAB, no STR for composite, and not as many bonus feats as I could have. Not much druid synergy that I can see. Magic fang on the buffalo, keep it alive with cure, and shoot people in the face with multiple arrows when not casting?

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The traits I was talking about. I'm also considering paying the cost for a third one in order to shore up my skills or to actually have enough gold for a longbow.

Enlightened Warrior
&
Finding Your Kin

And I think his first and most important animal companion will be a Buffalo or Auroch (same stats), which is one of the animals you can ride.

Liberty's Edge

So I have this idea for a monk druid archer with animal friends. He doesn't wear armor and he uses a longbow.

The problem I'm running into is this:

-Without increasing monk levels my armor class doesn't go up.

-Without increasing my druid levels my animal companions and spells suffer.

-No social class skills on either front. Diplomacy and bluff sure would be nice.

I could really use some advice. I'm dead set on my race, Agathion-Blooded Aasimar, but aside from that I'm willing to consider any options. I care very little for wild shape and do not want to focus on it at all.

One of the things that this character has going for him is that because of a trait he can take monk despite being an unlawful alignment and because of another trait, both monk and druid can be favored classes at the same time. Also antlers... he has antlers.

Liberty's Edge

Wow! Thanks so much! Any thoughts on how I should take my feats or attributes?

Would multiclassing for some skill points have any validity?

Liberty's Edge

Okay, so I have a concept of what I want my character to be like and need help figuring out the optimal way to create him while maintaining pathfinder society legality.

-I want an Aasimar who uses two bastard swords, breastplate, and has a wolf companion that doesn't die really easily.

-Hermean Blood is a secondary request, because I'd love to take bunch of social skills or use magic device, but I get that it would come at a great cost and could leave it out if I must.

He doesn't need to, and clearly wont be able to, do all of this at level one. My concern is making him an effective character throughout the levels, despite his unconventional choices. Obviously I'm a roleplayer, not a roll player, but having a terrible character is no fun for most of us and doesn't do the party any favors.

I'll go human if I need to, but would really prefer to stick to my Aasimar concept if I can. Just for the appearance and the dash of charisma really. I like having some small measure of social ability in TTRPGs.

Can you please help me plan this character out? I've been struggling with it. This is my first pathfinder character, though I've played quite a lot of 3rd. I appreciate any and all assistance you can offer with it.

Thank You!
