Hey everyone,

Still alive! I've been struggling with a major depressive phase coupled with some actually bad stuff going on IRL. I struggle with whether to come back or just drop out (semi-)gracefully, and I would like to continue if it's all right with y'all. I know it's been frustrating with how much trouble I've had lately.

Syretia winces at Bydar's pronunciation of some of the words, but it's not like she's ever been good at talking to strangers.

"Agreed, the mushrooms will certainly make for a nice gesture, but they're not why we're here. Let's contact the Iruxi first."

And I managed to get COVID at the same time, which is why I was absent for so long. Sorry guys.

"We've heard rumors of iruxi in these areas recently, and were wondering if you might have heard or seen anything. We've been hoping to make contact with them for a while now."

"The scarecrow is likely to respond if we breach the fence. Negatively, I'd guess. I think being polite is the right call here." She gives Christian a nod.

Syretia smirks, then looks out with her magical senses, looking for traps, enchantments, or anything else that might be dangerous.

Casting detect magic and sweeping the area.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

"It makes sense to me," Syretia says with a nod.

Syretia simply gives a single, emphatic nod.

"The current rulers of Taldor are already our enemies," Syretia says, her expression thoughtful. "I doubt they will give us any grace if we were to eject the two of them. I say we let them stay."

I wouldn't mind having a nicer dagger, but it's not essential.

"Unfortunate it came to such bloodshed, but I doubt they'd have offered us anything different," Syretia muses.

Apologies everyone, I've been having a really difficult month with my health. I'm trying to get back into things, hoping to get some proper posts up later today after work.

"Brandt," Syretia says, gesturing at the vines, "any suggestions on how to handle these? Or should I just burn them down?"

Syretia nods grimly, her mind full of grisly thoughts.

Syretia bows deeply to their rescuees, a broad smile across her face. "A pleasure to meet you, despite the circumstances."

Syretia raises an eyebrow at the others, before gesturing toward the fallen fey with her free hand.

I could try casting lipstitch on her, though I'm not sure if it would stop her either.

Syretia, accompanying Orlog, rejoins the others and offers a slight bow to each of the two women they've rescued.

Syretia shakes her head in dismay, but does as she's told, rushing down the stairs as fast as her quickened feet will take her.

Ugh, I really am not trying to be such a drag here.

Needing no further encouragement, Syretia whirls to sling another blast of ice magic at their remaining attacker.

Snowball: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Cold: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 3, 1) + 5 = 22

It does, unfortunately, though I forgot about the +2 from his challenge ability.

Syretia wastes no time, hurling a conjured ball of snow across the room directly at the dancing lady's face!

Snowball: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Confirm?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Cold: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 5, 5) + 5 = 25
Crit total if confirmed: 5d6 + 5 + 25 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 5, 5) + 5 + 25 = 53

My old one worked as well, but unfortunately they just...ran out of it and the pharmacy didn't tell me until I was completely out as well. Took a few weeks to get a replacement and, of course, it's more expensive.

Will: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 2 = 22 Does this count as a gaze attack? It would be an extra +2 if so.

In the tight confines of the keep (and the potential for collateral damage), Syretia's first impulse to simply burn the monsters to ash is replaced instead by an urge to act quickly. With a word, she enhances the speed and reflexes of herself and her companions.

Hey everyone, I apologize for being MIA for so long. Going cold turkey on psychiatric medicine is not something I recommend. I'm on an alternate one now, and feeling way better. I am very sorry but it was just really hard to do much more than get through each day in the meantime.

"I could try to unravel any enchantment magics, certainly, assuming that I am not also ensnared by them."

"I can hear what are likely rats or some other kind of vermin from over there," Syretia notes, pointing to the northeast, before turning to the central tower. "I can just barely make it out, but there's some music up there, along with a peculiar magical aura. If Brandt is right, I'd guess that's what lured them up."

Syretia quickly casts a pair of spells to enhance her senses before following the others into the ruins. Once inside, she scans the immediate area for any magical auras.

Casting heightened awareness and then detect magic.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 2 = 17

Syretia watches with trepidation, knowing that she has precious little to contribute to this particular task.

Syretia opens her mouth to suggest the very same, but nods in agreement. "They have good reason to be wary of someone following them. Best that they know we're here with good intentions."

"Family can be a strange thing..." Syretia muses.

Syretia, who had been taking a sip from her waterskin, coughs and sputters in surprise.

Syretia makes a gesture somewhere between a bow and a curtsy to the pair. "Thank you for your help," she tells them, smiling.

"We should find her at once," Syretia declares suddenly. She flinches back, almost surprised at the steel in her own voice, but recovers quickly. "Taldor's rulers already mean to make subjects of us and our people, but she might be more willing to leave us be. And if not, then we need to remove her from our lands before she brings even more trouble down on our heads."

Syretia's mind reels from the implications. A princess in exile? Here? Fighting trolls? She's probably an enemy to the Whitehallows, but does that mean she is a friend to us?

"Noblewoman?" Syretia says, perking up. "Did they give a name? Can you tell us what they looked like?"

"Are you a tiefling?" Syretia asks, creeping up behind Christian and Bydar with a look of unrestrained curiosity. Then, with a sudden look of embarrassed realization, "Oh! I'm Syretia. What's your name?"

Syretia waits patiently behind Brandt, ready to burn them out if they prove to be recalcitrant.

"This is interesting," Syretia says, fascinated by the coded message. "This puzzle could keep me busy for some time, I expect."

Syretia takes the scroll and removes it from the tube, deciphering its contents.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27

Syretia looks embarrassed by the praise, but grins despite herself.

"Easily done," Syretia says, climbing to her feet. Before the wyrms can retreat out of her sight, she flickers back into visibility, finger extended in their direction. A tiny red sphere travels through the space between before erupting into a massive fiery explosion.

"A drake, and tatzlwyrms," Syretia says, her voice coming from thin air behind the others. "Territory dispute, mating season, all that stuff."
