Yes, good to hear from you and that everything is going well. Happy New Year to all.

Thanks for the kind words back in October Ovirid. I missed it until now :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Since it seems this PBP is not going anywhere I just wanted to take the opportunity to say how much I have enjoyed playing with this incredible group throughout our adventures. I have many many fond memories and feel like I had a fantastic run with Sykala. Hopefully, you all are still periodically checking and will see this.

Tarren: A straight up fantastic DM. Raises a glass in toast.

Ixius: you have been there since the beginning and we had some incredible times floating down the jungle rivers on Esteban's pleasure cruise.

Korian and Jinx: I can't tell you how much fun it has been watching Korian try and stem the Chelaxian tide while discussing (and laughing) about his antics with Jinx behind his back (Thank the gods you had the little animal to set you straight so often!).

Ovirid: You always made me laugh with your matter-a-fact observations and the dwarven accent was done perfectly. The unassuming dwarf will always remain a truly fond memory always getting himself in over his head (with this group how could you avoid it?!) but coming out of it through sheer dwarven toughness in the end.

Refina: I felt our religious similarities and differences had a lot of mileage left in them and am just sorry we didn't have more time to explore them. You, however, seemed often to be a sole voice of reason reining in some of the more hot-headed members of our lil party (I am not counting myself out of that group).

I feel I must give an honorable mention to Asim. ::moment of silence::

and to Esteban, that snake would have outlived us all...

::Her hair being tussled by an unfelt breeze the druidess gives you all big hugs before slowly dissolving into little cloudy wisps of wind that slowly disappear into up the sky and sunset...::

P.S. don't worry she got you all out of the pyramid with her burrow spells ;)

Well, it's been over a week and no word from Tarren. I haven't seen him post anywhere. I hope he's ok. Actually, it's been about three weeks since he has posted anything.

Not sure where the tiger will fit but she'll try and go for the closest to her. If that doesn't work than one of the others.

Casts Strongjaw on Tiger.

Tiger claw #1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (8, 7) + 8 = 23

Tiger claw #2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (7, 5) + 8 = 20

Tiger bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Damage: 4d6 + 8 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 4) + 8 = 20

Tiger Rake: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 1) + 8 = 15

Tiger Grapple claw #1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28
Tiger Grapple claw #2: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
Tiger Grapple bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29

Tiger claw #2 possible crit: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (1, 3) + 8 = 12

Not sure what to make of the fanged humans hanging from the walls, Sykala summons a nasty tempered feral feline from the wilds to take care of the threat.

I'll wait to see the results of Korian's and Refina's actions before attacking with the tiger.

We're in the archives?! ::pulls pbp out of archives::

I am going to be out of town (at GENCON WHOOHOO!) til next Monday so please DMPC Sykala until then. Thanks!

P.S. She intends to come out of the wall cast Strongjaw (basically doubles the rolled damage dice for the summoned critter) on her newly summoned tiger (large critter so it should be able to reach the ceiling and also has pounce) and have it pounce the closest (to her) vampire and tear it to shreds.

I think if I understand the initiatives and timeframe correctly that Sykala is just starting her Summon Natures Ally IV, this round. So she will take a five foot step into the wall/floor/ceiling (whatever is closest) to protect her from being interrupted.

Figured I had too so that I could see my target for my spell and I think Stoneshape is touch? anyway but not sure as I don't have my book here.

She will begin casting a summoning spell though as she senses she might not like what is about to come out of the mist.

The lil druidess moves ahead of the vapor and seals the other direction with a wall of stone.

Cast Stoneshape, I think it is enough to create about a 2 inch thick wall of stone over the corridor (assuming it is 10' foot square).

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Sykala looks down into the hall through the trapdoor. It isn't until the vapor shifts of it's own accord that she comes to realize it maybe someone or something in gaseous form instead of poison. Thinking maybe we should stop it until we know more she quickly intones a prayer to Gozreh. A roaring wall of wind springs up to impede the progress of the vapor. Shifting down through the ceiling she watches the cloud closely.

Cast Windwall directly in front of the vapor, trapping it here with us.

Hmmm, what types of auras are there? Concerned this may be another illusion.

Thanks, totally missed that.

The little druidess reappears in the ceiling trapdoor and waves the others up. She watches them for a few moments to see if they can manage to get up here without her assistance.

She'll Detect Magic on the stuff in the room while she is waiting.

Ah, we are waiting on Ovirid's search for traps then? Makes sense. Was waiting for the description of what Sykala saw up there.

She will take a look.

Well, since she is just assisting Ovirid and cannot fail the roll I just left it as a +2 to his roll. However, if you need a roll for other reasons she is going slow and taking a 20 (for a total of 35 since she doesn't want to accidentally set of any traps....and it definitely looks like there is a trap). On the off chance she needs a perception for something else: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

She'd start with the ceiling since that is where Ovirid noticed the discolored stone. Then she would go to the left wall, floor, and right wall in that order.

Seeing his concern, Sykala will sink through the walls and assist Ovirid's search attempt.

Sykala pauses letting Korian and Ixius take the lead as it seems we have found what we were seeking.

She'll head to the closest corridor off to the left and look in.

She returns to the surface and shrugs at the others before stepping out onto the massive piece of stone cautiously.

Perception for traps: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16

Having seen stone floors slide up and down as traps before Sykala holds up a hand to indicate the rest should pause a moment and disappears into the stone floor.

She'll go down 30' feet below the floor of the room to see if this is some sort of mechanical counterweight trap (having had personal experience with them).

Sykala is definitely leading with her. Yes, I think we are all sticking together at this point unless someone states otherwise.

Sykala shrugs but hands each of you a pair all the same. She doesn't keep a pair for herself as she is constantly flowing into and out of the stone walls and floor at this point. She'll search the walls, ceiling, and floor for secret doors as you all examine and experiment with them.

The druidess waves the others to approach and examines the floor on the way over to examining the benches and sandals.

She takes a 20 as we are not in any rush. She'll also detect magic on the room and it's contents. If no danger presents itself she'll pick up a pair of sandals.

The girls ARE waiting but getting impatient.

Sykala cautiously creeps up to the smaller corridor and looks in.

Ok, around the corner it is...

Waiting for the others to fill their flasks and bottles Sykala takes time to examine the floor and walls until the bend. Once they are ready she looks around the corner and leads the expedition further.

So are we boys all on our own without the girls? I thought it was understood we were all going together? Would be pretty foolish to do otherwise, especially considering how we've fared in here so far

I know that Sykala certainly wanted to keep everyone together and assumed you were sticking with the plan and following her. I'm not sure she realizes you are not there until she reaches her destination (can she tell how many gaseous forms are following her or does it simply look like mist behind her?). If she can tell, then no she would wait til everyone was with her. If she can't you are going to find a very upset druidess on the other end. Korian's sudden need to do experiments is not what she expected but now understands that she should have.

No, no, she was just checking the destination room out. No further.

Sykala warily searches the place to see if any more bloodthirsty sword wielding ladies are lurking about.

I thought of that too and was ready to go into gaseous form if following along the edge of the tube didn't work. She'll guide her companions down the other tube that does not dead end in sand. I'm assuming that is the correct one as it is the only other one going someplace we haven't been. If that doesn't sound right to her then she'll try leading down the other tubes until she gets the right song.

Used to mimicking birdcalls the little druidess whistles the tune over and over again as she waves the others to follow. Changing into her stony elemental form she disappears up the song tube while listening for the others following.

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28

Sykala simply turns around and walks out of the chamber. As she passes Korian she says in Elvish, "Let's go get get you fixed up then."

She stops and focuses on the man in the chair trying to make out details about him through the illusion.

I'm back :)

Having never met the man before Sykala enters the room and begins to circle warily to the right. She tries to determine what the real ground beneath her feet is made out of and to find a wall where there should be one.

Will save against illusion if she gets one: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

Going on vacation for the next week. I'll try and post when I can but DMPC Sykala as necessary please.

The druidess begins to shake her head but then suddenly stops and pulls her masterwork cold-iron spear from her back, "This work?"

What kind of magic do we detect? Illusion?

Immediately distrustful but wanting desperately for the oasis in front of her to be true Sykala sniffs at the air and carefully scans the room for magic auras.

Detect magic

Korian, no need to rework your character. Negative levels just give you minuses to rolls and 5 less hitpoints per level. You memorize at the lower level too. Specifics are on page 562 of the core rulebook.

Take your time Ovirid, no reason to rush into traps.

Double doors? Back down the shaft? I vote double doors.

I think your right Ixius. Wondering if there might be a map of some sort in the cards for us to look at.

Spell list updated. A few spells from APG and Ultimate Magic.

Sykala makes herself ready to further search for the seeds.

Ready to go :)

Sykala's angry look turns to one of exasperation, "No, no, it not come. It stay den. If wanted come, could come. Not want. Maybe...not can. We weak. Not hurt much. No reason run."

I will rework my spell list. Thanks, I was just waiting for the word that we had fully rested.

Sykala gives Korian an angry look that plainly says she thinks he is an idiot and says in elvish, "The pack sticks together. Your not sick, dying, and a danger to the pack are you?! If you were than I would be the first to chase you off. If you keep talking like that than Jinx will probably eat your eyeballs to save you from yourself." She gives the other men the same scathing look as they comment, "Why go down?! It not come up. We look for seed... not fight. We get out. We make Korian better!" Her short hair whips around agitatedly in the invisible breeze.

No Korian, have been suffering from the stomach flu for the past few days. Might be until after this weekend before I am up to posting much again. Sorry for my absence.

Seeing the normally unshakable dwarf so out of sorts puts the druidess on edge, "Is just bad dream? You go more sleep?"

Did Ovirid fall right back asleep or something? Been waiting for him to share his experience like he said.
