"True. Please forgive me for being so stubborn. I will go talk with the people in town to buy oxen. So, will you come now that we have means of bringing your and your followers?" With Apex

![]() "Not if they are willing to walk for 11 or 12 hours a day, in which case, even though the caravan will be much faster, your tribe will be able to catch up to it every night." That's only true if the caravan waits for the goblin, if it goes at its own pace and travels for 8 hours, then, if the goblins travel around 11 or 12 hours per day, to should catch up to it, although exhausted. ![]()

"Yes, there will be horses too, unless you can find other animals to do the job." ![]()
![]() please, consider the following occuring after Irnk speaks to his tribe. After Sybil is done taking care of finding new wagons with Dao, she heads toward the temporary campsite of the goblin tribe. On her way, she stops by the guard to remind them, politely, yet one more time, to be patients with the little monsters. As she enters the camp, she keeps away from the green creatures and goes to Irnk as fast as possible. She approaches looking quite serious and decided to have it her way. "Irnk, hi. I know you have said that you would think about going north with the caravan. However, I really think you should. There is no need to hesitate, it is your best chance to take your followers somewhere safe. Moreover, after talking with the wheelwright, I know that I can purchase the necessary wagons to carry your folks." she pauses, waiting to hear whatever arguments the paladin might have. ![]()
![]() Guys, I updated the loot sheet with what was in the chest... please take your pick of treasure and notice that everyone has around 2000 gp worth of money right now! Even more if some of the items are sold! ![]()
![]() Upon hearing the half hidden "insult" toward her family name, Sybil's eye grow wide and her face slightly reddish. However, she recovers quickly by repressing her anger and trying to hide it behind a half hearted smile. Once he leaves, Sybil turns to Dao, looking still flustered. "Dao, chick, does you brother always act so... foward?" as they make their way to the Wheen's Wagons to look for extra wagons to buy. Took the name of the wheelwright from the RotRL (which I am currently running) to find possible places to buy wagon stuff. ![]()
![]() Upon being called pretty and so overtly, and insensitively, flirted with, Sybil rolls her eyes in her mind. Yet, she keeps smiling. "Please mister Vhiski, call me miss Vekker. It will be my pleasure to help you. Thank you Dao for your vote of confidence. Shall we go and try and find a wagon or two for Irnk's tribe?" ![]()
![]() I filled most of the sheet for the caravan. I will be posting it soon (tomorow?) for everyone to peruse. EDITED Here is the fire repelant. That is all I could find. However, it states that it only lasts for a single hour. That's kind of problematic. Can we make it so that, it lasts for a week or more on the wagons? Otherwise, we are facing lots of fire hazard from the goblins. Going to post my next in character post as soon as all the caravan is paper ready. Also, can one of the goblins be a driver for a caravan... I doubt our characters will find anyone to drive a caravan full of goblins (I already have Irnk for the first one, but still need a driver for the second one). ![]()
![]() I went over the caravan yesterday, and it seems that the best roles for the characters would be: Apex: Spellcaster (acting as a guard).
Also, since our characters are level 2, the caravan gets a feat. I think the defensive circle or whatever the specific name would be best, since the defense of the caravan is not increased by any job. ![]()
![]() For the relationships, it is simple. Sybil is always going to try her best to have good relations with people, being polite, trying to "take care" of them if they need it. Unless insulted she will try to be friendly. However, she won't let others get close to her. Neither will she give gifts or anything of the sort. I can see Sybil getting Shalelu mad by trying to show what is good in Irnk and the other goblins but making up for it by getting mad at him.
For Koya, definitely friendship. Considering her history with her mother, she would do anything not to antagonize the woman. For Sandru, considering she might appear to the man as a control freak, I think we could start with competitive and change it later. For Ameiko, friendly, but not overly so. ![]()
![]() Sybil nods, business discussion, this is her natural environment. Her mind races with ideas to make the trip as profitable as possible as well as reviewing the people that she knows further north. "Of course we will help. I have been on caravans before and know how to make them profitable. As for organization, it will be my pleasure to help Sandru. The most complicated with most assuredly be to organize wagons for the goblins... I think we might need fireretardant materials... I guess I could try to find some alchemical concoctions that would do the trick." The dwarfette stops for a moment, before continuing: "I do wonder, why would Shalelu come? I always had the impression that she travelled alone..." During the week, Sybil will try to create alchemical material that is non-flammable to impede the natural tendencies of the goblins. Also, she will try to give a hand to Sandru in hiring people and directing the caravan. She might get a bit too involved for the man's taste though. ![]()
![]() Sybil, still sitting on her chair turns to see Irnk leave. Disappointment has now replaced her burgeoning enthusiasm. Slowly shaking her head, she turns back to the others. "I suppose we will have to wait and see for Irnk. I will try to convince him later." Turning to Dao, her smile comes back, if still somewhat weaker than before. "I do not think so, but I am glad that you will get the chance to travel. Miss Stormshard, I am truly glad that you appreciate this chance. I will make my own preparations for the trip." Edited to remove the part about the week of preparations. ![]()
![]() Sybil took a few sip of her drink while listening to the others talking. She nods with appreciation when Ameiko states that she will be going north with Koya and smiles with relief when the Tian women invites Apex to join her. Good thing, with Ameiko with her, she should be safe from becoming to harsh and will be traveling, thus harder to track down. With the added invitation for Dao and Irnk, Sybil feels like a weight is lifter from her shoulders. Here expression clearly soften. She then turns to Dao to pat his hand gently. "Woe to the north, your pranks will reach it." she jokes. Then, the dwarfette turns to Irnk and gives him a nod, her eyes expressing optimism for the goblin's tribe. Finally, she turns back toward Ameiko and Koya. "I will be glad to accompany you north in Sandru's caravan. I have myself been wanting to travel north for personal reasons, and now that I possess a new chest, it will be quite beneficial to have a caravan to carry it. As for adventures, I think I have had enough for now. Of course, if the caravan is ever in danger, I will help defend it and his members to the best of my skills." ![]()
![]() Hey! 1) Yes, I don't mind taking care of the caravan all by myself if need be. It will be fun to try these rules (even more so with goblins). 2) I wanted to try this AP over the forums because PBP is good for RP and because this AP is more geared toward exploring relationships with NPCs. I would suggest to use the rules (or use them as guidelines), from my point of view they are there to improve RP. As for the interest, I will come back on that later. Note: RP post coming up tonight. ![]()
![]() Sybil nods in undestanding to Apex's comment, yet grows somber. "The citizens of Sandpoint owe him their safety. It is true. However, Avan's gift to them is but a consequence of the one he gave you.... us. For what he did was not to keep the town safer, but to keep us safe. I believe it is all four of us... and maybe even more so you... who are the most indebted to him. As such, I will always remember him and be thankfull to him, more deeply than most of the people of this town. So will you. I believe these memories and the wish to carry on his will are what we owe to him." answers Sybil, trying to be understanding yet affirm her own beliefs. She smiles faintly to the sylph and goes on walking in silence for a while. Finally, she turns to Irnk. "Irnk, do you have any idea what you will be doing? How will you move your tribe to a safer location? Any idea?" == Once inside the Dragon == That is what I feared... thinks Sybil upon hearing Apex questions. With a worried expression on her face she answers to the wizard:
Try rping a LG character giving advice to a CN one.... wooo! So hard! ![]()
![]() Once everyone stands up, Sybil walks toward the mayor and shakes her hand. "We are really appreciative of all your thanks, even though the loss of our friends might mask our gratefulness. Do forgive us. Have a nice day mayor Deverin." Sybil than goes outside with the others to receive their reward which she puts in their newly acquired chest. After trying a few times to lift it, unsuccessfully, Sybil turns back toward the sheriff. "Sheriff, may we borrow one or two of your guards, this chest is getting a little heavy for us. I do not think we would be successful in reaching the Rusty Dragon with it." she asks in a nice tone of voice, eyeing two guards sitting in front of the garrison, right across the street. After Koya and Ameiko speak to them about their proposition:
As they walk toward the inn, Sybil approaches Apex. "Miss Stormshard, do you have any idea what you will be doing in the near future? I approve of you coming out of hiding, yet, I cannot stop from being anxious for you. Do you have any idea where you might find some kind of peace haven?" she asks, looking truly worried. ![]()
![]() Arriving at the town hall, Sybil is dressed in her freshly cleaned blue and white dress. Having arrived 'slightly' too early, she waits for the others outside. When she first sees Apex, she is indeed surprised. "You truly look magnificient." she first says before hearing the Sylph's explanation. "Let us hope this does not happen. I guess this is a good first step, but I am still worried about that girl... what will happen to her? Now, what is it that you plan to do? How do you... oh, they are letting us in. Let's finish this conversation once we come out." Upon being let into the Town hall, Sybil greets everyone, shaking hand which each of the present person and exchanging a few polite pleasantries. She sits, barely smiling, at the table and profusely thanks the mayor for the monument. She is even more thankfull to receive the contents of the chest -they should sell well in a market-. Sybil stays surprisingly silent after Ameiko reads the letter. She does not know what to do with it, feeling like she heard some personal matters that she should not have. She looks at the tian woman, trying to capture how to act toward her. sens motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

![]() Unlike Apex, Sybil did not cry at the funeral. Yet, even though she had seen countless humans be born and die of old age in her own life span, she was more affected by Avan and Tharjuk's loss than she expected. She wondered why... maybe it was because she felt she was the one in charge, maybe because they had died to save her life... a service she coud never repay. Shaking off these thoughs, she notices Apex's cries and takes a few steps toward her before slowing rubbing her back. ![]()
![]() Sybil passes the end of the day and the following morning making sure that everything is in order. That is, she makes sure 1) that Dao stops first to see Koya, 2) that Irnk spends time with the Licktoad, making sure they are not interested in bugging the longshanks, 4) that the guards of Sandpoint know that they must keep far from the goblins and not antagonize them, 5) that father Zanthus has everything in hand for the cremation and that whether or not he requires her help, 6) that Apex is not left alone too much, 7) that she properly thanks Ameiko for the support she provides to Apex, 8) that the treasure chest is safe in her room at the rusty dragon .... 20) that she brings the chest to the meeting with the ruling familes, 21) that she is well dressed for the aforementionned meeting, and that she arrives exactly on time to it. "Anyone want to roleplay anything between all these actions? Hope you liked the style of this post, it was made to reflect how structured and mommy like Sybil is." ![]()
![]() Sybil, concentrating on ending this awful trip unto the marshes does not go to Apex. Instead, she keeps her mind of the task at end, carrying the heavy chest with Dao. Her eyes are set on the road as they make their way toward Sandpoint, her mind trying to make sense of the horror they lived. Heading for the rusty dragon. Drop off the chest then call for the priest to come and get Avan. Does everyone agree? ![]()
![]() As sole answer to Irnk's annoying, yet smart comments, Sybil opens the chest. Upon seeing its contents, the dwarf's eyes grow wide. After a moment, she starts looking at their surroundings, trying to understand how such an honourable warrior would have been left in such a cave with this treasure. I hate to admit it, however, Irnk is right, this is not a tomb. Yet, with such honour in battle, it seems unlikely that they would be thieves. On the other hand, if these skeletons guarded the treasure until someone returned for them, then they were forgotten. I guess that taking it might not be taking if from its rightfull owners and would be acceptable. "Dao, would you mind helping me carry the chest?" she asks with a gentle smile. --Upon exiting the cavern --
"It should be burnt. Irnk, would you mind taking care of this since you plan on staying here? Also, once you are done making sure the skeletons do not wake again, would you mind returning to your tribe? I think they might need some supervision." she turns toward Walthus. "Mister Proudstump, would you mind helping us to carry our friend back to town? He deserves to be buried were he lived in the pas few months." Sybil definitely leaves the items of the skeleton where they are. Also, I will assume with Corsario's last post that Irnk accompanied the group to the exit of the cavern.
