Each of them has a home, people they've left behind, dreams that had to be put aside. Shandi, the one closer to him, is doing her wizard things. He's felt recently closer to her due to his interest in magical investigation and application. Where would she come from? What's her life like back home? Does she have kids? Are her parents still alive? "Hey, Shandi" he breaks the ice, "what's your home like? Is it anything like this?" he asks, presenting the landscape around with his open arms.

Now, according to that, it's not a bad idea to have a rough sketch of what you want to do in the character's future in regards to ability score increases, feats, and class features. These games in which you gain power by level punish making wrong decisions because once you select your level up gains, your can't go back, and thus you might regret your choices several levels after. For example, this is my plan: 3 levels in Artificer to get Thunder Gauntlets
That's for 9 levels, if we go further the character will probably go back to Artificer. If we fall short, however... well, then I'll have a problem :p In any case, kind GMs (and I think we are in good hands here) usually let you adjust some wrongly chosen options. But don't abuse that! :P

If you go up to Sorcerer 3 (almost not a dip anymore) you get Metamagic, or can use sorcerer points to get more slots if you stop at level 2. Divine Soul is common, for the +2d4 to one save and access to cleric spells (Bless!). Also, starting Sorcerer gives you Con saving throws.

Now mechanically, and if you want my advice, active non caster classes to casters it's not the most optimal until you know what you're doing (like 2 levels of fighter for specific burst builds of something). A caster class still gives you spell slots so it's not as rough. It depends on what you're looking for (for example, bards also grant expertise of that's your aim). But of course, the most important is to have fun. Almost everything can go together with the proper choices and tactics. Just don't go Barbarian xD

He bought it and carries it from level 1. He reads it every night. And now is the time to put it to this use, because he's going multiclass. Now, I need to talk this with Shandi, because the original plan was multiclassing Bladesinger. It won't be the usual Bladesinger, instead focused on hitting people with his gauntlets to debuff them. I don't know how do you envision yours, but I'm sure we can make them different enough will add to not overlap. HOWEVER, if you don't feel like it, first of all know that I understand you. I'm the guy who looks for crazy combinations and options because he hates two characters that mechanically overlap their roles and/or mechanics, so I totally feel you. Second, I have some alternatives that would only require a tweak or two (maybe changing Sven's feat which, honestly, he took from level 1 but didn't use up until level 3 - it's not that he was ultra profiting from it). So yeah. You tell me, we need to be comfortable with each other :)

Many authors use other cultures as inspiration for their adventures and settings, but sometimes their research is a bit lacking. I remember reading names and other things about Castille in 7th Sea and having a good laugh with my friends. In this particular case, the setting (from beginning of the 80s or ending of the 70s) is a salad of Transylvania with Russian, Polish and all other things that sound like Eastern Europe. Damn, even Strahd has a funny surname. But the adventure is good, and Strahd's story is beautiful and sad, even with those little silly details.
