In the last AP mod we played, we needed to find food for a group of people in danger of starving. You might know which one this is, but I don’t want to mention it because it’s a spoiler (and could affect PC purchases). At one point, my Erastil-worshiping Warpriest thought it would be a good idea to use already-dead bodies as food for the community. There were differing opinions about whether this is something Erastil would agree with. The GM decided that it wasn’t, so that was that. However, since the mod is over, I wonder what other people’s opinions are.

Real-world religions have indicated that emergency cannibalism is OK. In 1972, a rugby team that crashed in the Andes (you know, from the movie “Alive”) and survived by eating the ones that died. The Catholic Church justified it by saying if they didn’t, it would be considered suicide, which is a worse sin than cannibalism. Islam is a bit more direct in stating emergency cannibalism is OK.

Erastil is known as a very practical god. And he seems to think that turning people into food is OK in certain circumstances. Gods and Magic and Inner Sea Gods states “His anger is reserved for followers who betray his principles, and he usually punishes them by changing them into something more useful to their community, such as a pig or fruit tree.” On the other hand, he is also very traditional. And while emergency cannibalism may not be evil, it isn’t exactly lawful.

Anyone have an opinion?

Or are we not supposed to use melee characters in any of these modules? Because as written, these rules overwhelmingly favor casters.

Sanity points are calculated using the sum of all mental stats.

Sanity threshold is the modifier of your highest mental stat.

Sanity edge is half your sanity points.

You start off making a will save, which of course has a better progression for casters.

Sanity point recovery is based on charisma.

I understand wanting the system having some verisimilitude by using mental stats, but really?

So, I was thinking of creating a paladin of Shelyn, but was wondering how to interpret part of Shelyn's paladin code. Specifically, the part that states:

"I am peaceful. I come first with a rose. I act to prevent conflict before it blossoms."

Now, at first I thought this was metaphorical, but the picture next to it actually has a (very stylishly dressed) paladin holding a damn rose. So, do I really have to find roses somewhere? What about a dry, wilted rose when I can't find a fresh rose supplier (e.g. the desert). Do flower merchants in Golarian sell roses by the dozen? Would I need an atonement if all I can find are carnations?

Also, what do I do if I am a ranged Paladin? Do I have to saunder on up to the evil drow noble or whatever and present a rose, then run back to shoot my bow after she takes a swipe at me? Can I tie a rose to the shaft of an arrow and shoot it into the ground in front of the potential opponent? Now, shooting a rose arrow into the drow I concede would be bad form, although that could be a potential loophole.

Wife is using "my" Ipad more and more, meaning I get to use it less and less. Plus half of its capacity is now used to store Sex and the City videos.

Anyway, if I break down and get an iPad 2, will page turning in pdfs be any faster?

Part of my wants to wait until a new Nook Color is out and root it, but then again Jason said at Kublacon that the Pathfinder iPad apps would be out "very soon".

So, True Strike is on their domain list, but not their class list. For 3.5 this was easy, as spell trigger was ok for "anyone with a spell on his or her spell list". PF changed this. Rules under spell trigger now say:

Spell Trigger: Spell trigger activation is similar to spell completion, but it's even simpler. No gestures or spell finishing is needed, just a special knowledge of spellcasting that an appropriate character would know, and a single word that must be spoken. Spell trigger items can be used by anyone whose class can cast the corresponding spell. This is the case even for a character who can't actually cast spells, such as a 3rd-level paladin.

This issue is relevant for other classes as well, of course.

"You can channel positive energy like a cleric"

Clerics need a Holy Symbol to channel.

"The divine focus for a cleric or a paladin is a holy symbol appropriate to the character’s faith"

So, do you need to pick a deity to use this ability? If not, can you use just any old holy symbol?
