"Hmm, so if we use the wand to make Crin weak, he becomes strong?" I hope this isn't too meta, but the penalty seems to equal the strength bonus. So if your strength score is negative, it might provide a bonus. Can more than one person stand on the dais?

Sorry, I'm still here. I had a project dumped onto my lap after returning from my trip and have been working on it since for the most part. I should be reliable again after getting caught up. I didn't post it here apparently and apologize for that. The next thing on my schedule isn't until October atm, so hopefully no more issues in this game.

If we don't have the materials on hand, could we possibly purchase them still?

I suppose looking at group setup the investigator would have trapfinding (plus I wouldn't mind seeing how it plays!). Not really sure how needed it would be here, but only thing I see lacking off the top of my head. But really I'd say which you want!

Strat Spineshank, cleric of the Dawnflower. Focused on clericing. He was my first PFS character as well back a couple Gencons ago. I beleive this should get him to level 4, but I"ll have to double check. Strat's pretty straightforward, he doesn't quite get complicated plans that well. Quite a few time's his strategy has been to stand in front of a door to hold off some foes while keeping everyone alive with channels. Not intended, just the way it works out. He focuses on range with firebolts and melee with his falchion. He's not the best battle cleric, but he tries. Skill wise Strat pretty much has Sense Motive maxed and that's it. I live in Illinois as far as time zones go, posting time fluctuating between all three shifts pretty regularly (I need a better sleep pattern).

I'll be honest. I'm not as familiar with familiar's (HAH!) as I wish I was. I believe that yes, it can deliver the spell for you and not provoke. That doesn't mean it's not susceptible to harm. Also you'd have to have it move in such a manner to avoid AoOs from movement. Also it needs to take into account the PFS rule on only one combat companion per player, which I also don't know as well as I wish I did, about if it can target it or not. Since it'd be doing the spell, I think that the minotaur could still attack it directly regardless.
{HP21/21 | AC 18 FF17 T11 CMD 16 | F/R/W 5/3/8} Male
Remember touching a target is a free action part of the spell. So you could, as an example, read the scroll, move next to Rhyno, then touch him as a free action that doesn't provoke. Also depending on where you stand you can avoid the AoO with cover. Since he has reach, as long as you aren't adjacent to him, cover is applied as a ranged weapon. Try to find a square where he can't draw a line from any corner of his square (corner being the 5' squares not his full space) to all four corners of where you want to stand.

That's a decent idea! It's a will save so possibly a decent chance of succeeding depending on this thing's will bonus. Of course the DC is only 13, but the chance of blinding it could save someone's life for a round. Also no SR on that.

I often try to play the batman style character in having a variety of items, but for some reason I haven't kept up as well on Strat. A 10gp smokestick in this case could easily negate an AoO from the big guy and help us out greatly. An obscuring mist would be even better. Sure it gives up a 20/50% miss chance too in that case, but better for us with multiple attacks than him with his big attack. Throw in a tanglefoot bag and it would further hamper him. Another thing to consider for the future, Terrill, is Litany of Sloth. That spell is ridiculously good, has no save, only a swift action to cast and negates both the ability to cast defensively and make AoOs. Combine that with step-up and casters hate you, plus being melee, you can get an ally to flank that much easier, or get into melee of a reach monster. (Note: I haven't checked to see if Litany of Sloth is allowed in PFS play, and if not disregard this post)

I'll check out the link above when I get home Seoni! As far as the weapon, I have to agree with Wise Fox on the ruling that it would provoke, regardless of whether it makes sense or not. As the rules state, it would provoke in this case, and if Wise Fox says that's his ruling I would agree to it. That said, I do think the grounds for an arguement do exist. Drawing a weapon does not provoke, but picking it up off the ground does. In this case, if his weapon had been stowed on his person, such as a sword in a sheathe, it wouldn't provoke, but picking up a weapon that conceivably landed near his hand does? Realistically I don't see it making sense. But this is a realism vs. game mechanics arguement and not always a valid one for Organized Play. Other options at this point? Hard to say. Ideally a darkness spell or maybe obscuring mist could provide enough cover to negate an AoO, but I'm not sure we have those options available to us. Standing on his square while unconscious would've given him the cover needed, but can't be done while conscious. If one of us took total defense and tried to provoke the attack, that might work, but his attack bonus may well be pretty high. A risky idea no mater what. If Rhyno wanted to simply take total defense this round while prone, I'd understand the reasoning. Another possibility is that I could pick it up from the ground. Terrill is providing me cover thus negating his AoO. I could pick it up and then hand it to Rhyno. But it'd have to be next round to do it since I already acted this one.
{HP21/21 | AC 18 FF17 T11 CMD 16 | F/R/W 5/3/8} Male
I'd have to agree, attacking from prone is probably your best bet. If I understand smite correctly, you'd still be under his effect, and standing would likely just get you killed. To feign death would probably need a bluff check. So real hope is maybe to take him down before he takes us down.

My understanding was it took a round to load regardless, then next round you could fire as a standard. So no matter what only every other round. Just wanted to clarify for future rounds. It might be needed :) Also, 'bout dang time on the wand! I debated wand or channel, figure save the channel next round for when the big guy attacks again.
