Hey all,

I'm building a gunslinger for a campaign and I have a quick question. We're using advanced firearms and I know that they have to use metal cartridges.

If I'm to make them myself instead of buying them directly, what would the cost to me be? Any help on previous threads, or if someone could do the math for me, that'd be great.

Thanks in advance.

Per the Gunsmithing feat:

Crafting Ammunition: You can craft bullets, pellets, and black powder for a cost in raw materials equal to 10% of the price. If you have at least 1 rank in Craft (alchemy), you can craft alchemical cartridges for a cost in raw materials equal to half the price of the cartridge. At your GM's discretion, you can craft metal cartridges for a cost in raw materials equal to half the cost of the cartridge. Crafting bullets, black powder, or cartridges takes 1 day of work for every 1,000 gp of ammunition (minimum 1 day).

Just got the book today and I also see the paper quality as being matte, though some pages come off as semi-gloss. Doesn't really bother me that much, just takes a bit to get used too.

Does seem though that I got a misprinted book though. Pages 161-192 are printed twice in my copy. Anyone else seen this as well?

Already got a replacement being shipped from Amazon, so no worries there. Just hope the replacement is correct.

My copy of Ultimate Combat appears fine in the siege engine section. Page 185 has some "gray" fill on the bold 'g' 'b' 'd' 'e' and 'a' with a few of the letters almost appearing completely filled in, but nothing that makes it unreadable and I wouldn't have noticed if it weren't pointed out that something might be wrong with the page.

Maybe I'm not as discerning as some customers, and I'm failing to see the problem with my copy, but I don't see anything worth a product return or even exchange, so there's a chance it doesn't affect the whole print run.

I'd say you should try to look at a copy in a brick-and-mortar bookstore to see if they're affected in the same way you're experiencing with your copy. I'm inclined to think it's likely just an error with that batch your book came from.

I'm going to check at a Barnes & Noble this weekend. They have UC in stock. I check at another B&N and almost picked it up there until I noticed that some genius thought that the best place for the antitheft tag was in the middle of a page.

I've had some specific issues on the page with the siege engines -- lots of filled in space on the letters ('g' 'b' 'd' 'e' and 'a' for example). There were some sections that were out of focus as well and other pages with similar fill in on the looping letters. Over all it's bad manufacturing and I don't like seeing it however it has not rendered the book unusable for me.

That matches what I've seen. If it wasn't for a bad page 185 in this copy, I could live with the issues on the siege engine pages.

Are there any plans for a second printing anytime soon?

I ordered Ultimate Combat from Amazon. When the book arrived, I was flipping through it and noticed that on some pages the text was not as in focus as on other pages. I ordered a replacement and when that arrived, that one had similiar issues as my original. So, I sent that one back and got a thrd replacement which also has problems with the text, page 185 is horrendous in that regards with all of the bolded text appears thicker than normal. At this point I'm probably just going to return for a refund. But, I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this or did Amazon just get a bad segment of the print run?
