"I understand," says Stig. "I think I will take these to the priest to show my appreciation, but good to know your prices in case I gather more."
Stig heads toward the location Orrin pointed out, eager to enjoy a good meal. As he does so, he is sure to keep an eye out for the bullies he ran into earlier or any other unfriendly faces.

Stig returns the shopkeeper's smile as he moves into the store. "I'm a traveler, foraging for what there may be along my way. I found some choice mushrooms growing in the forest not far from here and thought I'd see if they were something a person might value in this town. The priest, Orrin, said your establishment was the place to visit. I also wanted to check for any wares you have that I might need as I continue my journey. I'm not looking for anything in particular, but I always like to know what's available."

While Stig is relieved to find a friendly face, after the rude welcome to town, he is still a bit leery of a stranger. He looks into this young man's eyes to see if he can judge the character within.
Stig stretches out his hand to his new acquaintance, "I am Stigyndir. Nice to meet you." 'What have you been hunting?', Stig asks, nodding to the game bag.

"You mean this satchel?" Stig slides the pack off his shoulder, deftly attempting to slip the mushrooms into a pouch on his belt. sleight of hand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 "I am but a poor wanderer, and I have nothing to offer you." Stig shows Gaston and his companion the now-empty satchel.

While Stig does not spend much of his time with people, he straightens himself and puts on his most agreeable smile. "Well, sirs, I wasn't aware there was a tax to bring goods into this town. Might you be the mayor? Perhaps we could go back to the pub for a drink, where you could explain more about your town? If I went to the general store first, I may have coin to buy you both a drink.' diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Stig turned from the sight of the grinning goblin sign, a bit disturbed by the memories of the foul creatures. He continued down the street to what appeared to be a general store, hoping they would be interested in mushrooms. Although he gathered most of his belongings when he snuck away from the goblins, it was always good to get some extra coins. Stig was sure to keep vigilant as he walked through the unfamiliar town. He was easily able to take in everything going on around him, and yet be an unobtrusive presence to others.

Stig watched the girl as she started towards the approaching caravan.
I wonder if I will make it to the bridge before all of those others, Stig thought as he proceeded cautiously along the side of the road.

I'm somewhat confused. I assumed I had already come to town and sold my wares, so as to explain why I had gear and money after being with the goblins. Is it okay that I appear with my self the way my character is equipped already? Do I have to explain it in some other way? Like maybe I stole from the goblins?

Stigyndir is also known by his name's short form, "Stig". Backstory: Stigyndir (also known as “Stig”) is a half-elf rogue from the town of Bellespire, which is in the forest that ranges from the Coppercross mountains to the coast.
Stig’s human father grew up in the town. His father a simple craftsman who makes and fixes locks, as his father before him. Stig’s elven mother lived in the forest with her elven people until a chance encounter with his father in the forest. The two have made a home for themselves on the outskirts of Bellespire, raising Stig and his younger sister there. The family of Stig’s mother worship the goddess Gozreh, and she has instilled the beliefs in her children. She chose the name Stigindyr, as it meant "dwells in the forest" in one of the ancient languages. Stig’s destiny would be to continue life on the fringes of the Bellespire society, crafting the locks as his father has taught him. However, Stig is enchanted with the wild. When he comes of age, his decision is to go exploring to the south, where the weather is more temperate for sleeping under the night sky. Stig’s father expresses great disappointment, but Stig’s mother understands his wanderlust.
After one such a venture, Stig found himself awakened to being roughly pulled up and arms bound behind him. Stig realized that the meal and drink he enjoyed the night before were too much. He had been captured by a band of goblins. They rightly judged Stig’s muscular build as being useful in labor at their stronghold. The goblins gave him some type of poison that kept Stig dazed, and yet still able to be their slave. Over the period of several weeks, Stig became accustomed to the drug and started to teach himself to move about with more stealth. He learned bits of goblin language, so he was more aware of the comings and goings. Finally, Stig was able to reach the locked gates without notice of his captors and easily picked the lock to gain his freedom. Stig regained his full health as he moved comfortably through the forest again. He resumed his habits of foraging and surviving in the wilderness. When he came upon a grove with an abundance of an extremely rare specimen of mushroom, Stig decided to pick a bundle to take to the nearest town. As he followed the stream, he came upon a new town. From fellow travelers, he found the name is Kingsbridge. Stig looks for a place to sell his precious wares. With the coin he gets, he can buy new gear and supplies. While Stig prefers his own company, he is glad to be in the company of those folk other than Goblins and hear the common tongue again. He decides he might look for a group to join in travel for awhile. |
