Thanks much! I don't think I'll ever get the chance to play the PrC much since we only play till 7th, and that will be the level I am able to take it. Otherwise, that's an interesting set of options. I'm a little curious about how to balance combat feats, (Like Martial Weapons) and healing feats though.
I'm getting in to a new group and am interested in playing a Battle Cleric.
I'm considering either Dwarf or Half-Orc, and would like to wield either a two handed hammer or axe. Heavy armor would be preferred. My worry is that if I lean to heavily on the thematics of my build, I'll end up being lousy at melee AND healing. Any advice?
I'm surprised that there isn't a sticky'd general info/FAQ thread here.
My 3yr old D&D group has been split up by career moves and various other details, but we'd like to continue the campaign virtually with some type of digital game table and vent voice server.
Picked up Pallid Plague to bridge Crown and Revenge.
My wife is about to start running D0 Hollow's Last Hope with the intention of running everything in Darkmoon as a series. We have two questions. Based on my statement above, Is the following order correct?
Does that make sense? Do you have any input on more adventures in between any of these? Which leads me to my second question. D1 and D1.5 are 2nd level and 5th level respectively. Does D1 actually lead the characters to 5th level by it's end? If not, what would you suggest for a intermediate step between D1 and D1.5?
I'm honestly completely shocked that Paizo would attempt this.
1.) Several other, more recognizable, established I.P.s, backed by very large video game developers, have failed miserably trying to release MMOs. (See Conan, Star Wars Galaxies, Warhammer Online, Etc) Though I feel Pathfinder to be an above average brand, I highly doubt it has the number of fans that Warhammer, Conan, or god forbid Star Wars brands have. 2.) The average video game budget is $23 Mil. That's the average. MMO budget's far exceed this. WOW had a budget of 40 Mil back in 2004. It is reported that Star Wars will have a budget of $100 Mil. when it releases. Maybe I'm way off here, but does a small pen and paper company like Piazo really have that kind of capital draw to engage even the low end of that spectrum? 3.) The rate of washout in the MMO market is astounding. Very few franchises manage to hold on to their subscribers for long enough to establish the longevity that one would want from such a large investment. What happens when, like has been mentioned above, the Next Big Thing comes out and everyone who is only casually interested in the I.P. bails out? Better to invest in the development of a good Single Player, or even better, a great internet served Multiplayer (Like NWN for example). Better yet. Invest in a highly functional, and robust online game table where people can play the table top virtually with friends from around the world.
Hello all, just dropping by to ask for some help on balancing an encounter I am building. Without going in to detail on the story (I’ll relate if you ask) the party is about to take on
Encounter details. 1 “Weakened” Spawn of Yog-Sothoth. Currently CR10 (Needs to be adjusted. Stats below) 1 Cleric level 7-9? High priest finishing up an incantation (3.5 rule) that will bring the Spawn to full power. 10 Commoner level 1 cultists assisting in the ritual. Each has a small vial, akin to a mini-phylactery, that guards their soul against being consumed by the Spawn while they complete the incantation. 5 Player characters all level 6, Cleric, Paladin, Bard, Ranger, Wizard, all carrying magic weapons of at least +1 and various other lower level magic items, like armor, potions, a scroll or two. All within the wealth by level 6 category for medium progression. They have a few extra feats among them, but nothing too over the top and we use a home brewed hero point system that almost mirrors the hero point system in the Pathfinder APG. The Encounter
The Goal
So with that in mind, how would you adjust the Spawn CR while maintaining his epic Cthulu feel, and what level should I make the high priest? Over all, I’d really like this to be doable for the PCs but only barely. Thanks in advance for your advice. Here is the original post since this seems to be sticking around. For those of you who have the module Carrion Hill.
I'm running the final encounter but have a few caveats I need to address.
My question is, what do you think the adjusted CR is for the Spawn after it has been weakened by "-6 levels" as is stated in the module. With the current CR of 10, it seems overly simplistic to assume the weakened CR to be 4. What do you guys think? Thanks for your input. -Stickman

I'm rolling up a fresh 3rd lvl Oracle of the Battle Mystery. I noticed that at 3rd lvl I get a bonus Mystery spell "enlarge person"
At 3rd level, an Oracle can only know 5 Orisons, 3 first level spells, and can not know second level spells at all.
So my question is, why are we given this bonus spell if we are too low level to know it or cast it? Or in the other case, if the Oracle in question has a bonus second level spell from a high Charisma, can they in fact cast the spell? Thanks!
