Steve roars with laughter as he steps forward.

"Smell you later, losers! Hami, I'll be seeing you as soon as I get back. We'll talk business then! Also, Nabu? Bite me."

Says Steve as he steps forward. He gives the mayor a smug look as he shakes his hand, although he does watch for anything... strange. He'd lived in this town long enough to know better than just accepting things as they are.

"Alright, I'll compromise with you. We'll go 35% off of what you make, deal?"

Win or lose, Steve moves on.

Steve wanders over to where the rest of the competitors had formed a little group, amused at the goings-on.

"Say, you guys wouldn't be interested in placing a little wager, would you? Hami's got some good odds on you lot."

He says with his most winning smile. bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

"Oi, Hami! You know there's only one bet if you wanna win, and that's ME!"

Calls out a voice. Steve is shaking a fist towards Hami, mostly ignoring the other competitors. In his eyes, they weren't worth much anyway, even the one that solved the riddles at the same clip he did. Instead he verbally sparred with some of the more interesting townsfolk, occasionally defending someone while joining in at taking digs at others.

"Well, at least half of this group looks decent. You wouldn't believe some of the trash that tried to get chosen."

He exclaimed rather loudly, eyeing some particular faces in the crowd.

Good luck everyone, and whoever get's chosen remember to have a good time!

I think two games where the two teams interact with each other would be interesting to see.

Well, Kaito is/was very worldly before he joined the voyage that killed him. He dealt with eastern races and that's what they called him, so that's why he'd go with that name considering it's a similar type of people, at least in his eyes. Just makes things easier for everybody, at least in his eyes.

I have no problem with being loyal to the party as far as not killing them is concerned, but I will be opportunistic and/or cowardly as fits the situation. Think of me as the evil Han Solo.

Evade: A swashbuckler is a fluid combatant, relying on quickness rather than heavy armor to deflect blows. When wearing no or light armor, the swashbuckler adds his Evade bonus to his armor class. This is considered a dodge bonus and whenever the swashbuckler is denied his Dexterity bonus to armor class he also loses his Evade bonus.

Evade may be substituted for the Dodge feat as a prerequisite for other feats (for example, a swashbuckler with Evade +1 need not take the Dodge feat in order to select the Mobility feat).

Weapon Finesse: With a light weapon, elven curve blade, rapier, whip, or spiked chain made for a creature of your size category, you may use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls. If you carry a shield, its armor check penalty applies to your attack rolls.

Two-Weapon Fighting: Your penalties on attack rolls for fighting with two weapons are reduced. The penalty for your primary hand lessens by 2 and the one for your off hand lessens by 6. See Two-Weapon Fighting.

Toughness: You gain +3 hit points. For every Hit Die you possess beyond 3, you gain an additional +1 hit point. If you have more than 3 Hit Dice, you gain +1 hit points whenever you gain a Hit Die (such as when you gain a level).

The Skinny

Tris Clegg is a scoundrel of the worst kind. As a young boy, he discovered he had a knack for talking the gullible and the foolish into doing his bidding, and slicing the throats of those who would not. Out only for himself, he uses his natural charm and devilishly good looks to make both men and women give it all for him. After conning his way into the pants {and coffers) of one too many rich noblewomen, he was captured by a band of bounty hunters as he slept off his latest escapades in a brothel. Turned over to a press-gang by the bounty hunters for a little extra money, Tris is determined to turn the situation to his advantage. Whether it be his silver tongue or his rapier that does the turning, he leaves up to his captors. Said to descend from one of the greatest pirates to ever roam the seas over 200 years ago, Tris is determined to not only live up to the name of his unknown ancestor, but leave a mark no one will soon forget.

I'm thinking chaotic evil Sorcerer or Swashbuckler, since I know how to do it without being chaotic stupid. I'll get the sheet down in a few hours when I get to work.

6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 5, 4, 2) = 24 16
6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 6, 2, 6) = 28 18
6d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 6, 1, 2) = 21 14
6d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 1, 3, 3) = 14 10
6d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 1, 3, 5) = 24 17
6d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 5, 6, 4) = 25 16

Hm... Not bad. Maybe a swashbuckler or a sorcerer. That low INT score though.

I'll roll up something later today.

Skulls and Shackles works fine for me as well, although I initially wanted kingmaker. I haven't played either of them. But I am intrigued about fusing the two.

I'd be interested in playing a Kingmaker campaign. I haven't gotten a chance to do that, and I've always been interested in turning a PC into someone responsible for the welfare of many as a lord.

And here he is!

Pirate, Adventurer, Thief, Scoundrel, Ladies Man, Kite has done it all in his adventures. Born in a coastal town, he signed on for a position as a sailor when he was a boy and never looked back. He sailed all across the world and back again, gaining and losing fortunes at the whimsy of the sea. A suave talker and expert fencer, he can cut his way out of any situation he can't talk himself out of. He is generally jovial and gets along well with others, although he can certainly be snide when the mood takes him. Never one to worry too much about morality, he takes what he wants when he wants, although he shows loyalty to those he considers friends and allies, and isn't above a good turn now and again. He signed on to the Salvation due to the captain, an old friend of his from his early pirate days who was desperate for experienced sailors, promising him one last big score he can finally retire on.

I'm interested in this. I'll start working on a swashbuckler. Haven't gotten to use one in awhile. :]

DM Lil" Eschie wrote:

As for the sandals... does the name "Conan the Barbarian" rings a bell for you?

"Know, O prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars ... Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet." -- The Nemedian Chronicles

and into the 1982 film, the prologue:
"Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And onto this, Conan, destined to wear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!"

Conan the Barbarian's prologue-Anvil of Crom

Conan! What is best in life?!

I'll be editing the post with his background to include the character sheet. Or would you prefer that to be sent to you some other way?

Steve is a sorcerer by trade, human by birth. Descended( allegedly ) from the great Ekat Kassen himself through a bastard son, Steve is prideful and arrogant, much to the chagrin of everyone in his general vicinity. He is the first magically talented person born in his family line, and considers himself even more worthy of respect because of this. Steve's goals are to gain wealth and prestige for himself, at any cost. At such he is deceitful and a cheat, but intelligent enough to only do it when he can get away with it. He likes casting flare to startle small children and the elderly, summoning extra planar creatures and long walks on the beach. He generally dislikes anyone/anything that isn't himself.

I'm interested. Steve the Black Mage may just ride forth online before real life.

Are we restricted in alignment choices, or can we get creative there as well?
