the Chantry teaches us that it was the hubris of men that brought the Darkspawn into our world. The Mages had sought to usurp heaven. Instead, they destroyed it. They were cast out, twisted and cursed by their own corruption. They returned as monsters, the first of the Darkspawn. They became a Blight upon the lands, unstoppable and relentless.
This recruitment thread is based entirely upon Bioware's masterpiece, Dragon Age Origins, converting it into a home brew pathfinder module of my own creation. I am Leif for at most four experienced, well written and experienced players who share my love of the game and world of Thedas and would be interested in playing in a pathfinder version of it. The race and class systems are slightly strict to keep with the original content of the game. Any who are interested please let me know!

George R. R Martin? Yeah most likely, although did you know the original idea for his 7 kingdoms came from a collection of pet turtles he had as a kid? long story short they were short-lived animals that came with plastic castles, he had seven of them, and they kept dying off, so he made up stories about them all trying to kill each other. lolz fun author facts. getting to work on full profile here in a bit
Ah ok, I could easily do that. In that case, Rainer would simply gain regency of the land through her abdication, since she would view Rainer as a strong defender and able ruler, although he would most likely go to her on matters he wasn't as familiar with until she eventually passed away, which would also explain his rank in Knowledge: Law.

So if I did take over the country of Aerenwe, could I do so in a way that would not require me to kill the Queen and allow her to remain on as an advisor? I only wrote it that way because I wasn't sure if you wanted me to upset the balance of power that already exists in this world with my backstory. As a DM, that's one of my biggest things I don't like my own players to do, but if that's ok with you, I don't mind at all to Rainer taken complete control over the land of Aerenwe
Rainer Orkning, Bernsson: Raised among the Aegilsgaard tribe of the Rjurik clans, Rainer grew up drilled constantly on the art of warfare, combat, and glory by his father, Bern, a renowned warrior of the tribe. He joined his first battle at the tender age of ten, and embarked on his first Viking with his father only four years later, already a hulking youth, tall of frame with raven-hair and eyes as bright as the open sky. Hearing tales of the verdant lands to the south, once a fully grown man, well respected by his tribesmen, Rainer embarked on a Viking raid of his own, taking along his most loyal soldiers, his bride-to-be Aerda, and marched southwards. It was a hard journey, and his fellows were unsure what truly drove their young, proud-eyed leader onwards through the marshes and bleak winter lands of the north, and eventually to the verdant fields of Aerenwe. Unknowing of the region, he found his first true taste of combat in this new land, not as a part of a raiding party, but by helping drive off a raiding bandit clan from one of the many farm-villages that dot the three occupied provinces of that land. In thanks for his aid, the Aerenwaens hired him and his guards to defend them as mercenary militia for a time, until he had earned enough renown in the land, battling against dangerous creatures and would-be raiders, to be introduced to the Queen of Aerenwe, Liliene Swordwraith. Instantly awed and humbled by the venerable ruler, Rainer showed her every respect, and as reward for his services, the Queen named him ruler of one of the four as of yet unruled coastline provinces of Aerenwe, tasking him with defending the country against invaders as his primary duty. Taken completely with this new, bountiful and warm land, Rainer took to his new duties with a fervor that many of that land found surprisingly inspiring, and while many still consider him a barbarian of the north, he is no doubt respected for his immense skill at arms, knowledge of warfare, and fearless heart in the face of danger to his new countrymen. He remains a proud son of Rjorik but has found a good life for him, Aerda, and his guards, and will fight to the death before relinquishing it.
so I have one extra feat to spend since my character is a Landed regent? will have the typed backstory up in just a second GM only: I am a little hesitant to try and change things too much, I would very much like to say that my character, trying to decide on a name, is the ruler of the Aerenwe province, but it already has a prominent queen, and I certainly don't want to depose her. I could use a little help in establishing how my character, Rainer or Storm, becomes the ruler of that area? I'd really appreciate any help or suggestions you could give me, as I am completely new to this. After reading up, possible my character could have served the Queen as a warrior and defender to earn himself his own coronation in one of the four as of yet unoccupied provinces in that area?
Ok so renaming Bane Ordis is a slight roadbump but I love Viking, Nordic and names to that persuasion so here goes! It may not be on the list but how about Aerrik? it's a Nordic name, but if that doesn't work, I'll just pick a few I really like from the list instead. Brand
As far as the last name, definitely Bernsson
Wow, those all sound pretty good, although I think the most likely for Bane Ordis is either the Conanesque or the Viking, or possibly a combination of the two. Would it be possible that way to become an unintentional hired sword by the queen of Aerenwe and be granted a kingdom of his own, or earn it through conquering/raiding?
The character I have in mind is a Rjurik Fighter warlord named Bane Ordis, but I don't know if he will fit in anywhere other than the Rjuric backgrounds or lands, although on the wiki on the .net site I really like the Aegilsgaard clan, but I'm still so new to all of this that I'm unsure what to do from here In a pinch the original character concept works just as well as a Barbarian
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
Yeah gonna go with the second ...

Ah I wasn't aware of that rule change, but I won't contest it in the slightest. Bastard swords are heavy, in fact they're like the name suggests, just a foot or so away from being actual two-handed swords themselves. Either way, I love them, although one of my favorite character builds is a character (Fighter or Cavalier) who uses a bastard sword one-handed (with feat) and shield.
I don't honestly see why the flavor text was brought up at all on this messageboard at all to be honest after reading all of this board's notes on "two-handing" a bastard sword. In the rules, as everybody has already said, you can wield the bastard sword two-handed as if a martial weapon, unless you have EWP BS which allows you to use it as a one-handed weapon. Attempting to use it one-handed without the feat doesn't mean you can't use it altogether, you just treat it as if not proficient with a martial weapon (-4 to the attack roll) The actual reasoning behind them saying that in the "flavor" text is the actual construction of a bastard sword: Made primarily for mounted combat, since the standard 3-foot "longsword" was not always long enough to reach the opponent while charging from horseback, weaponsmiths created a slightly longer-bladed weapon, a sword with a blade length of 4-4.5 feet long with a hilt which gave the weapon the name "hand-and-a-half" sword, because the hilt was a full hand and a half length long, allowing someone to two-hand the weapon when a shield was not available. In some references, it's also called a "Knight's sword" because it was used primarily by medieval knights charging in on horseback, once their lances had been used and disgarded. The actual reasoning behind the wording on the flavor text incorporates it. I myself own two full-life-sized bastard swords, being a weapon collector in my pastime, and I can protest to just how hard it is to wield the weapon one handed, even with my past experience practicing with the weapon. It's large, ungainly, and heavy, but it's also a beautiful weapon, and my favorite out of all other kinds of weapons. I know that everybody has already said much of what I have said in this post, but I thought I would add my two cents to the discussion, as it concerns my all-time weapon.

So that they can get on and see it and check in with their characters before I get the actual game session set up. I haven't used this server in a long time, so I wasn't sure how to set up the thread without going to here first *shrugs*
Also as a note, this game may or may not incorporate slight changes to the original Kingmaker adventure path, not to say I am a better mind than the geniuses of Paizo and the writers of the original game, but I do have some custom house rules which will be addressed later. Also, if I am unable to get my hands on the proper Paizo approved Kingmaker materials, I will instead be running an online instance of a Home-Brew campaign known as the Wyrmscar Campaign, also passed onto me by Robert B. Borum its original creator when he ran out of time to game. This game, other than the world, races and several names of important characters, belongs entirely to my creation and is one of my proudest works in years. To sum up, don't argue with me onlookers if you don't like how I DM unless its an obvious breach of GM rulings, I am a little new at DMing but I love it. Also, this may or may not be a version of Kingmaker that most of you are familiar with. And lastly, it may also become an entirely different game if I can't get Kingmaker.
Welcome to Squee the Goblin's (that's me) Kingmaker adventure path. Please note that in this game I will be using custom created races and and an all new class system known as Sub-Class that I have taken the time to design by myself with no outside help, so please help me keep it that way and don't interrupt unless you find a serious problem with the mechanics rather than the ethics. Also, there will be no new Character submissions, as this is an online version of a tabletop game that will be run at the end of the summer in person with me and the players at our college campus, or continuing online if this works out for the better. Please do not approach me with character submissions, I already have the maximum amount of people I want for this game and unless several of them drop my game, I will not be taking anyone new. This game features Races originally created by Robert B. Borum but were passed onto me with full usage as I see fit by him. These races include
