Gnomey sprints forward and recklessly places himself right in the middle of the three goblins, more ferocious snarls escaping his throat.

double move

Gnomey stares down the mounted goblin and lets out a surprising ferocious howl.

Demoralize attempt 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
The DC for this check is 10+target hit dice+WIS mod. If successful target is shaken for 1 round and duration increases by 1 round for every 5 above the DC

The wolf lets out a accompanying howl and eyes the goblins closely, waiting for them to approach.
Ready action to attack any goblin that comes in range

Spyro’s wounds certainly seem to have improved but have not completely gone away. Now that the final goblin is down his fatigue takes over and Spyro drops to the ground.

”I don’t think I’ll be much help against more Goblins” he mutters from where he lays exhausted.

I also don’t think I’ll stand a chance in Rappan Athuk. Maybe this isn’t the life for me

Spyro falls asleep despite all the chaos that continues around town

I’m gonna drop in new character now. You can thank Brandi for the amazing name

No worries you do you

Honestly it’s just funny at this point

Spyro tries again with the dagger.

Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Honestly kinda assumed Ashalla would have finished this. New character does even less damage - literally doesn’t have a weapon or attack spells. I guess maybe the wolf that comes along might have better luck? If this is how things go might have to even consider a different third approach haha. Fingers crossed we will get him this time.

Spyro feels the pull to rage on this goblin but is too tired to manage the effort. Instead of attacking, he tries to corral the pest into a bear hug.

Fatigue grapple attempt 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

this provokes an attack

Seeing the prone goblin, Spyro casts a quick sad glance at the club he left on the ground. He pulls out a dagger as he steps forward and tries to drive it down into the goblin laying in front of him.

Still fatigued attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Spyro heads up the stairs to the east and draws another chakram from his belt. Once he gets an angle around the cart he throws it at the goblin.

with 40ft movement speed I’m fairly certain I can get to a spot that the cart no longer provides cover and also in 30ft range of the chakram

Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Spyro allows the great cub to drop from his hands. He prods a little closer and takes a chakram from his belt. Still requiring visible effort he flings the chakram at the last goblin.

Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Unless Ashalla already knocked out the goblin, in which case Spyro just drops the club and drops to his knees in his fatigue

Spyro eyes the goblin that remains between him and Ashalla. He takes a sluggish step to adjust his positioning and with effort swings his club again

Attack with flanking 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

21 damage total for Spyro (temporary HP from rage gained and lost already included) out of 28 HP. Just easier to keep track here

Tired but still in the fray, Spyro continues to hack away at the goblins with his club.

Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Yeah that was my plan. If you could really timely kill me then my new character can make a dramatic entrance but maybe fatigued Spyro will get his shit together

So obviously the rolling has been terrible but I have been considering a different character that might work better for this two man team. The balanced barbarian just doesn’t seem to function that well since it doesn’t kill things fast enough and the rage wearing out mid battle is pretty awful. Basically all I seem to be adding is a really high HP. Frankly the kineticist is doing solid damage so a mediocre barbarian doesn’t really add much variety to the group.

Anyway my alternative idea is an Oracle that would be a tank/healer. It would literally do zero damage but would come with an animal companion. We would still need to hire other helpers I’m sure but seems like it would work better as a pair to Adams character that can be a consistent damage dealer.

Thoughts?

After another vicious swing Spyro suddenly has the anger drained out of him and becomes visibly fatigued

I am fatigued now, used up all my rounds of rage

RAGE EVERYWHERE SWING WITH NO CONTROL

attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

you have got to be kidding me. I am ready to retire Spyro for his incompetence

”GOBLINS DUMB. CLUB DUMB. SUPPOSE TO SMASH FACE”

Rage swing better.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Club smash yeah! Again! Again!

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Rage rage rage. Swing club swing!

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Uggggghhhhhhhhh

More raging swinging!!!

Great club attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

F&&% these things

After the repeated slices from the Goblins, Spyro unleashes his anger and takes an even more aggressive swing at the Goblins.

Rage

Attack with great club 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Spyro carefully slides back to try to prevent the goblins from completely surrounding him, then takes a strong two handed baseball type swing at the goblin he had hit with his first swing.

Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Great club out, Spyro sees the goblin induced chaos and charges into the fray.

Their large heads make such great targets

Didnt look like I would make it this round even with 40ft movement but I head toward the nearest Goblin. Whenever I do get in range I attack with great club

Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage if hit 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

I am assuming I have taken up some kind of residence in Sandpoint so I would sleep at whatever place I’ve rented.

I am cool with going whenever, so generally that would mean in the morning and missing the festival. Unless you have some GM reason why we should be around for the festival in which case I can be the reason we don’t get going super fast

Not sure if this is the help I was looking for, but at least she is crazy enough to come with me.

”Well then, tomorrow, let’s make some bad life decisions.”

Spyro downs his ale much quicker than he had earlier that day.

[b]”Cool will that be happening at Rappan Athuk or are you going off on some other melodramatic issue? It’s kinda hard to follow your thought process or get a read on you.”[\b]

”Seems like we should get a closer look ourselves. What are you doing tomorrow?”

Spyro’s eyes light up at the mention of Rappan Athuk.

”Wait, you know about Rappan Athuk? How do you know about that place? I guess I should clarify. I don’t actually know all that much myself but I have been trying to learn more. You see, I have to explore it. Not that I really understand why, but I was pulled to this place. All I know is it might involve dragons.”

Noticing Ashalla renter the bar, Spyro goes to join her at her table.

”Couldn’t help but notice you trying to avoid everyone. Figured that was a good sign you needed another one of these.”

Spyro slides Ashalla another ale.

”What are you working on that is so important to distract from tonight’s festivities?”

Spyro leaves the tavern shortly after Ashalla and walks around town for a while to enjoy the weather. When evening hits he makes his way back to the White Deer for another round.

Not really doing anything in particular, just enjoying the day. Will casually listen in on things at the tavern and would get more interested if anyone mentions Rappan Athuk but not specifically asking about it myself.

”Might be a little overkill but might as well enjoy it! Although it looks like I’m already falling behind in the enjoyment department this morning.”

Spyro takes a much more casual sip of his ale.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

”That’s a rather dire way to start off this morning. However that was a pretty fancy trick you pulled off to go with your name that’s not going to be yours much longer. Did you sell your name along with your good spirits? The ale can only fill such a hole so much, but I bet Garridan will keep trying.”

Not exactly how I expected the day to start, but I was hoping for interesting.

Spyro nods his head at Garridan. He then turns toward Ashalla.

"Cheers and happy Swallowtail Festival! I am relatively new to town and don't think we have met. I'm Spyro. Any big plans for the upcoming celebration?"

"That it is. It feels like I have been in Sandpoint for quite a while but really its only a few months. I know the new cathedral is the big ticket item this year, but what is usually celebrated each year? Think there will be a lot of outsiders coming in for the event? And I guess if I am enjoying myself I'll take an ale when you got a free second."

"Good morning Garridan. Likely to be a busy day today. I'm still trying to decide if I should help someone prepare or if I should help someone start making profit. Any preference today?"

Money to spend exploring or possible information about that place. Either way should hopefully be a good day.

Spyro steps out into the beautiful morning.

Hmmm, probably should be looking for work but hard to pass up the festivities today. Maybe I can learn something interesting from all the excited people around.

Spyro heads out toward the newly finished cathedral, although rather than going to the building itself he angles to the nearest tavern.
