Since it looks like I have another day to play around, I'll be brainstorming ideas for a character to turn my 4th level blob into. I'd hate to play down and overshadow the other characters.

Hmm, I'm considering whether or not to flesh out one of my GM blobs (which would turn into a 4th level). That way I wouldn't be playing down... but OTOH Sovyal has 1-05, 1-16 and AP#1! I'll have to lock in my decision tomorrow.

I haven't played/GM'd this scenario yet.

I believe my only freed up 3-6 right now is this fellow (a 5th level)

Thanks Skeemo! Everything looks good on my chronicle. This was a very cool adventure. Felt really overwhelming when we got there and had to deal with so many dangerous things at once. And then big story revelations when we got inside. Loved it.

And thanks to the rest of you guys too for a great game. I hope I managed to make Sovyal come off as a charmingly vile scoundrel rather than an unpleasant jerk. Working on the characterization to try to hit a sweet spot in each group. He sometimes ends up really goofy too, which seems to be where we went this time. :>

I should have thought about this earlier, but Gab has such easy access to flat-footed, I should be applying off-target instead with my debilitating trick.

Sovyal gives Elminar a broad, unsettling smile "Line? You can be assured that everything that leaves my mouth perfectly unique. And hand tailored in class and sophistication to my current companions. Low effort ice puns are typical in elven circles, are they not?" He waves his pistol in a rough circle in the air as he gestures towards Elminar. Mid-gesture, he pulls the trigger and sends a surprise shot towards the ooze.

If enemy is shaken, the shaken penalty also applies to their weapon damage rolls. Also, they are off-target for all attacks except those made vs. Sovyal for the same duration as shaken. As far as I can tell, oozes don't have immunity to fear or mind-affecting in starfinder.

Here's another place where being able to draw weapons on a trick attack would be very nice.

As Elminar imparts his knowledge of oozes, Sovyal clicks his tongue in irritation. He quickly draws a skinny black pistol from his coat and points it lazily towards the ooze. "No fire? Not a problem. We'll have this thing on ice in no time." Drawing a calignous shadow pistol. Going to use its entangling fusion to try and entangle the ooze.

Calignous Shadow Pistol: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Calig. Shadow Pistol damage (C): 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
If a hit, enemy is entangled for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds. Entangling wep rules: A creature hit by an entangle weapon becomes entangled until it escapes with an Acrobatics check (DC = 19) or a Strength check (DC = 24). An entangled creature can attempt such a check as a move action. See the entangled condition.

Seeing as we're jumping into more combat:
Sovyal takes a 10 minute breather to refocus himself and brainstorm appropriate ways to mock and belittle an ooze. (-1 RP, healing SP)

Sovyal gives an elaborate bow to the two surviving izalguun "It was truly my pleasure to return you to your senses even as you smashed us to within inches of our deaths. While I don't blame you for these injuries, I do hope you learned your lesson about vaccinating yourself and your children. You risked their lives rather recklessly."

As for the Tear, Sovyal eyes it skeptically. "If this is the source of that wretched radiation, I hardly feel good returning it anywhere other than to the Home World of our direst enemies." he muses.

When Gab asks his question, he nods "Ah yes. We should deal with that thing before we leave. As the Society handbook says 'Leave no potential foe unslain!'... or perhaps it was 'Leave no stone unturned'. They are so very similar..."

HeeNee is totally a significant enemy... because she's here to turn on us the moment we deal with the izalguun! :P

In the off chance that the izaltoad is still up:
Sovyal dashes off to the north, weaving between the rubble, until he can see the izaltoad once more. He calls out "Ah! The fly you were licking earlier is delicious honey!" to attract the mutant's attention, then fires his pistol to try to disable it.

Yeah, its more our bad for not being able to cover you Elminar. I know from first hand experience with my own technomancer how tricky it is to extricate yourself from melee range. I'm looking forward to taking the Flash Teleport magic hack at 8th level on mine and never worrying about being pinned down again :>

"Arratoi, are you truly positive we don't want this thing dead? Absolutely certain? Because it seems intent on killing you. And I have a few bruises I would appreciate it paying for." Sovyal's lighthearted tone contrasts with the shot he quickly takes while the izaltoad is distracted.

Though it rankles him to not get a full and gratuitous revenge on this creature for the non-consensual tonguing, he moderates his shot to knock it out rather than kill it.

But its clear his heart isn't in the nonlethal takedown.

Yep! Considering that the green izalguun is 40-60 hp from KO, I figured I'd be safe not taking the penalty for now.

Seems like even if the vaccine is working, the izalguun is determined to fight us. Sovyal doesn't have a nonlethal weapon, so we'll be counting on you to deal the finishing blow Gab!

"Dear Elminar is right, though this snail-paced vaccine won't help us keep him alive. Let's bring our slimy friend down before we join El on the floor." Sovyal dashes to the side to get a clear shot on the last izalguun, then grins as he makes a froggy-izalguun croaking sound. While the green izalguun is turning its head, he fires his pistol at it.

"As for you, Izalguun, how about you stay still until that vaccine finishes working? How about it? It would be a shame to try to kill you."

He guarded steps back, keeping the rock between him and the Izalguun.

I just realized I never asked what those black splotches are where Sovyal is standing. I assumed they're rubble and boulders that would block a large sized Izalguun from getting through without squeezing and/or provide cover. Is that right? If not, I may revise where I'm about to move Sovyal to.

Sovyal slips free of the sticky tongue and adroitly tumbles away from the Izalguun, drawing his survival knife as he does. Dryly (or maybe quite wetly due to getting licked) he remarks "Dreadfully persistent, aren't they. Can you all handle yours? I'll see if I can't distract this fellow."

He beckons with his knife at the green Izalguun. "Come and get me, you slimy menace!

Sovyal seizes upon Elminar's distraction, encouraging the two mutated izalguun with a call of "Ah! Look, there goes a juicy elf-shaped fly! So very delicious, follow him, quick!" As their heads turn, he fires off a shot at the red izalguun.

"War it is." Sovyal delivers a sinister smile as he cuts loose with the corona laser pistol at the incoming red mutant izalguun!

Probably a missed attack because the trick attack failed, but I'm optimistic that at least the demoralize landed.

After his attack, Sovyal dives away from the creature and scrambles over the pile of debris on the south end of the room to end up in the running water beyond. (If that water isn't shallow enough to stand, please leave him 1 square to the NE of his current location on the map)

Hmm, looking at the map, we have a wall between us and those izalguun (I put an arrow pointing to the wall in question). Is that a low wall/low barrier of some kind that leaves us with line of sight?

Sovyal raises his hands and calls out at the sound of croaking "We come in peace! Unless this is an ambush. In which case we very much come in war."

With the others seemingly all looking at the same things, Sovyal does his own once-over of the yellow case. "Allow me, dears."

He stays silent when he realizes he's not discovering anything other than what the others have seen. Clearly he's getting rusty.

Nice! You guys are making me want to buy a jetpack ASAP :O Makes hazards a lot less hazardous.

"Splendid." Sovyal sounds a little disappointed that there's nothing more dangerous down there. "No exits down there? Perhaps that means we'll have to head down outside to join our laser ooze?"

The west end corridor of the computer room looks like it has collapsed on the map. Did that look like something we could clear?

Sovyal unties Gab, then spins the end of his cable line in the air. "Arratoi, HeeNee, are you absolutely SURE you don't want to be dangled from the end of a cable? What if... the fog below eats jetpack fuel? You wouldn't want that now, would you?" He smirks at the two brave folks willing to head down.

"Ah, and if there is another of those oozes, just scream and we'll fire madly in your direction!"

"Hm, seems like a plan. And if there are any hungry fish down there, you'll double as a fine lure to pull them back up to our level." Sovyal's eyes sparkle with mirth as he pulls out his cable line and ties it securely around Gab. Before he sets about lowering the ysoki down, he heads to the previous room and grabs a small piece of metal debris.

He tosses it off the edge and tries to judge how far it falls into the inky black smoke before it makes a sound.

Idly, he adds "This must be the trash disposal, so keep an eye out for it."

"My dear fluffy Arratoi, you cannot lose hope. Think not on your likely transformation into an unthinking avian monstrosity and instead focus on the slim possibility that the cure is still potent!" Sovyal smiles broadly at the ysoki, perhaps thinking humor will bolster the fellow's spirits.

If the door appears to be clear of any dangers, Sovyal will keep one pistol in hand and slowly ease the eastern door open.

Sovyal raises an eyebrow at the video log after the creature's speech is translated. "What a mad creature. Determined to perpetuate a race of mutant monstrosities, it seems. Tragic." He shakes his head with regret, but without much empathy. "Gab, I suspect you are very much right. We can only hope that Prima and its progeny are long gone by now, and our task remains a stroll in the park."

He looks idly around the storage room to the south, but sees nothing of obvious interest. He begins inspecting the east end of the storage room and its door for any traps or hidden nastiness.

As he searches, he adds offhandedly "Ah, the monstrous Prima mentioned a cure being thrown in the trash. Perhaps we all keep an eye out for any yellow vials that might restore Arratoi to strength before the fellow starts squawking on us."

While Elminar attempts to pull the data from one of the robots, Sovyal takes out his own engineering kit and attempts to extract one of the corona laser pistols. He smiles with bemusement. "Very nice of them to bring superior equipment to us. And for free too."

At Elminar's revelations regarding the last logs on the security robots, Sovyal audibly mulls over the information. "So we've seen what happened to the birdlike one, Ralveen. Prima must be the toadish fellow. Perhaps it too will be nothing more than a pile of bones. Or perhaps the intervening years caused its mutation to reduce it into an ooze?"

Sovyal spins his gun back into its holster and turns his attention to the video message on the screen. "-So. As we were saying, it seems as though the Izalguun here were subject to uncontrollable mutation. And from our friend on the screen, it didn't agree too well with them." He looks over at the bones that Gab grabbed. "The vaccine certainly seems to have failed to stop them from dying."

"Though, Arratoi, it may be a good idea for you to give it a try. You were saying you felt sick, didn't you? Perhaps that is the first stage of turning into a giant bird creature."

I think there's a second file to decode in the computer, though I'm not sure if we can access it yet?

Sovyal spins his pistol jauntily in his hand for a moment. "Kidney wipe, is it? Well then kidney wipe, please relax while we dismantle you." He fires quickly at the remaining robot.

Sovyal considers the absolute insolence of the orange robot firing at Arratoi and decides some prompt retaliation is in order. "You won't need those treads now, will you?" He mocks the robot before firing right at its torso.

He raises an eyebrow at the three robots. "You pieces of scrap metal interested in cleaning this room up a little? That's likely all you're good for."

Uh oh! I was thinking about maybe getting in to destroy them while they were deactivated, but then we started rolling forward with the 10 min rest and the computer and I forgot.

For the robot IDing, give me weaknesses and the other ability?

Sovyal peers at the computer readout, humming with interest at the video and images. "It seems our dear Izalguun friends had suffered some variety of...-" He cuts off when he hears the door to the security robot chamber start to open. "Oh my- I think its time for a small interlude to stretch our legs and our trigger fingers."

"I expect they are Gab. Give them your worst." For his part, Sovyal draws both a laser pistol and a shadow pistol, then repositions himself to get a clear shot on the robots.

With the group resting and regrouping (and preparing themselves for serious radiation exposure), Sovyal spends some time working on clearing the door to the south. He does so with obvious displeasure, muttering "Sooner we get through with this radiative hell, the better, no? Ah, but an undead slave or two from our dear Eoxian friends would be a perfect solution... We could be back in our ship sipping cool drinks while they break their backs hauling scrap."

Sounds like we have 15 minutes of downtime. Sovyal isn't taking a 10 min rest, so he'll make 10-30 mins of progress (depending on who else helps) on the junk blocking the door in case we still need to go that way.

Sovyal wades his way through the junk and taps the wall where he found the secret door. "Ah, how wonderfully considerate of the builders! They anticipated that we'd be in hurry and not want to clean up their mess, and they left this second door for us!" He smirks at the rest of the group. "Gab, once you're done with inspecting that locker, come and take a look through this door here. We can leave the computer for once we're desperate for answers."

Does that room have any exits out of it, or does it look like a dead end?

In the robot room, Sovyal looks rather pleased. "I would hardly call every last defense inactive. We have that laser-toting ooze outside, after all. These on the other hand may very well be the answer to our prayers!"

He inspects the robots to try to determine their purpose.

Does it look like the cables in this room are charging cables? Like they'd plug into the robots? Or do they seem to have some other purpose.

Even without Life Science, can we tell how many limbs the skeleton had, and then make an educated guess about its origins?

"What a strange collection of circumstances! This fine fellow takes a bath and is killed... or was perhaps dropped here by an assailant after being struck. As for the hollowness of the bones, well, maybe the radiation is to blame." He moves a few of the bones about, then picks up a small one and pockets it.

"For the body to have been reduced to a skeleton, it must have been a while since the fellow died. If I was his attacker, I'd be long gone by now." He shrugs nonchalantly. "Then again, who knows if the thing that killed him didn't have a reason to stay?"

Sovyal gives the room a once-over for any objects or clues the group missed and then joins the others at the door heading south.

Sovyal eyes the southern room with narrowed eyes. "Ah, so very many places in here for something dangerous to hide. Let's make sure we don't get immolated by a hidden laser ooze first, then think about the computer."

Once he's done, he comments "The door to the south seems like our only way to continue as well. Now would be a good time to reveal that someone brought an industrial-strength tidying droid."

Can we work together to lower the time on fixing the computer?BTW, looks like if we don't want to dedicate the time, our only other option is going down to the ooze and heading that way.

Sovyal strokes his mustache, or tries to, instead encountering the sealed face-plate of his armor. "Hm. How very very curious. The doors are sealed by functioning technological means while the room is a wild mess." He waves over the others. "Come on ducklings, lets find ourselves a nice radioactive pond to swim in."

He takes out his engineering kit and waves a sensor over the eastern door, trying to disrupt the magnetic lock while one of the true experts tackles unlocking the door.

Sovyal eyes the 'nest' in the room with interest, but also draws a shadow pistol from his coat in the process. "It certainly gives off that lived-in aura. But whatever new friends may live here are, without a doubt, radioactive monstrosities that I will relish putting down."

He spends a moment or two quickly looking to see if the Tear or any other important valuable may be lying inside the nest.

And then he turns his keen eye to the eastern door out of the room. He tries to estimate if the door holds back significantly more water, if its locked, and if there might be traps associated with it.

When I GM, I've always ruled you can use serums with your environmental protections enabled. Otherwise people are impossible to heal in so many different situations. It never dawned on me that you'd be restricted in drinking serums while sealed.

Now that I think about it, I've allowed most things that seem like they wouldn't be allowed logically with enviro-seals engaged: Natural attacks, breath weapons, touch attacks, serums, spell amps, etc

Yeah, we don't know yet if the radiation has something like 10 minute intervals or 1 hour ones. Resting could prove slightly counterproductive if its the first of those options and we start failing saves.

Sovyal looks Gab over with interest. "I am constantly delighted to see how a little positivity from the victim can dramatically reduce the severity of laser burns." He smiles toothily, then sobers just a little. "Happy to see you pulled through that gauntlet with as few injuries as you did little fellow."

"As for your assailant, I admit I failed to get a good look at it, whatever it was. Just a lot of laser flash in the mist. If we find a cache of two dozen ancient grenades in here, I say we deliver them to whatever is down there from the safety of this perch."

With the path westward looking slightly less perilous, he joins Elminar and HeeNee in heading to the northern door. He pauses and listens for any audible dangers on the other side before pushing the door open.

My vote is for hoisting Gab the rest of the way and then engaging this gun-ooze on our own terms later. And yeah, Gab, I think the GM's last post is describing you as 30ft below our platform at the time of being shot, so Inspiring boost could reach you.

Ooof, that is some serious damage. I'm going to assume we're going to want to stay together.

Sovyal calls out to Gab over comms. "Ah, you didn't die from that! You are quite the rugged little fellow. Here, rather than wandering about among all the trash, why don't you join us here where we're slowly being burned to death by radiation. At least we can then all stay together when the inevitable mutated monster pops up to give us a hug." Before advancing, Sovyal surveys the hallway to the west for any traps or additional hazards.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

So normally, radiation is a 1/round poison with no cure beyond not being in the radiation emanation. Meaning that if this effect sticks to those rules and we don't immediately close the door again, those of us who aren't immune will rapidly die to HP damage in about 5 rounds.

I assume this doesn't work that way. Do we have any way of knowing what the frequency will be?

Sovyal has 6th level Ysoki refractor suit, with Grim Trophies and the Radiation Buffer in its two upgrade slots. He doesn't have special vision, so he'll be relying on his armor's suit light and any lights the rest of you folks might be providing.

Sovyal peers off across the chasm. "So that's our way in, is it?" He pulls out a 50ft long titanium cable line. "Arratoi, if you'd like to do the honors of flying Gab's tightrope over? I'll see if I can make this a little safer for the rest of us." He takes out his engineering kit and fashions his length of cable into a crude harness, looping it around Gab's cable to catch anyone who loses their grip. He leaves about 10 ft of slack.

Thanks to all you guys bringing my attention to it, I'll also get a radiation buffer. They're surprisingly cheap and stack their bonus with other stuff.

"Everything is ours to take? Why, how generous!" Sovyal smirks at the izalguun. "If there are any of your custodial fellows there, I will be certain to spirit them away." He lets out a throaty laugh.

"If we do end up meeting your custodians, is there something you would recommend to help us show them that we mean no harm? Some kind of sign, or something we could say?" He frowns "I can already imagine angry custodians trying to eradicate us for some perceived slight."

No other questions from me. I'm probably blanking on some obvious thing, but lets hope it doesn't bite us.

At the starship docks, Sovyal peeks into the hovercart with its 'nukes'. "I suggest you store them in your cabin. That way if we're attacked in transit, you'll be able to personally deliver them to our enemies." He winks at the ysoki. "Are you really expecting to need them?"

To Arratoi, he adds "Ulyapses seemed to speak common well enough. Perhaps we'll not need any particular capabilities beyond what your tetrad device can accomplish."

Sovyal gives the rest of his team a thin lipped smile before licking his lips. "Ah. Ah, yes. We're all together now, my fluffy little sheep. Gab, Elminar, Arratoi and Hee Nee. A pleasure to meet you all." He manages a courtly bow that borders on ridiculous. "I am Sovyal. I look forward to seeing all your... delightful... talents... as we undertake this rather important mission."

"It does indeed seem important. If we're to pierce the Godshield, as you say."

A gaunt and pale skinned damaya lashunta strides into the room looking a bit preoccupied. He runs a thumb against barrel of a pistol hanging on a golden chain from his well-fitted black business suit. To a casual inspection, he gives off the air of a corp executive. His long face, jet-black hair and waxed mustache seem perfectly in line with that assumption. At a second glance however, your eyes are drawn to his strange earrings, which seem to be made of the preserved eyes of some alien beast, his bracelets and necklace, which are made of jagged and rusty-colored bones, and his suit's tie which appears to be made of a patchwork of blood-stained military insignia from a variety of worlds.

He seems to realize that he's reached his destination as he locks eyes with Luwazi. In a flash, his whole countenance brightens "Ah my dear Luwazi!" He sweeps a bow, black coattails fluttering. "It is ever an honor to work with you. You are looking exceedingly radiant today, if I may say so."

He raises his head to inspect the alien. "And an absolute pleasure to meet you as well, Ulyapses. If I am not mistaken, you are quite the rarity indeed." He eyes her with a predatory gaze. "Well, welcome to Absalom Station."

He looks thoughtful as the holographic scene fades and the alien explains their slim lead to breaking the Godshield. "So, my dear Uly, your people saw this Tear arrive and you immediately disposed of it. I admit I'm left puzzled. How did you know it to be a key or beacon or even relic of your previous enslavement? As our adorable ysoki friend here asks, does it carry some inherent danger? At the very least it seems as though the Tear is mobile. Do you know with certainty that it remains on your moon?"

He pauses, considering the mission. "If it is there, we will be sifting among all your other technology to find it, will we not? Among the other technology stored there, what is there that we should be wary of?"

Other relevant info the GM should know: Sovyal is designed around debuffing enemies on a trick attack.

Thanks to the Star Knight Challenge ability, the first time he trick attacks each enemy, he gets to attempt a free intimidate check to demoralize. Additionally, the Challenge ability makes it so that while the enemy remains shaken, it is also off-target against every creature other than Sovyal. Furthermore, thanks to his grim trophies armor upgrade, enemies he makes shaken also take a -2 penalty to their damage rolls.

So on a successful trick attack and successful Challenge, his victim ends up potentially: flatfooted from trick attack, shaken (plus shaken applies to damage rolls), and off-target vs. non-Sovyal allies.

I think you absolutely did justice to the scenario. For all of Sovyal's cavalier attitude towards everything, I was convinced that we were going to screw something up and have the whole complex descend on us. Basically, you did a good job of playing up the atmosphere!

Of all the SFS scenarios I've tried that have had an infiltration theme to them, this one was by far the best, despite being kinda easy. Loved the interrogation at the beginning (though it wasn't super useful) and the trap ridden complex that felt very clinical and secret-base-ish.

Sovyal twirls the end of his mustache. "Personal time? How curious. How very, very curious."

"As for this group manipulating the markets, they do that enough and they'll find some very angry and very violent people looking for them. I'm not saying it'll be a group of Starfinder Society agents. But our venture agents have a history of... let's say... audacious altruism." He adjusts his coat. "My dear Naiaj, it was as always a pleasure."
