I don't know about best, but I really want to play this guy.


Yeah, besides Master Chymist, there's really no PrC that improves your alchemist-iness.

Evoker/Mindchemist Vivisectionist/Arcane Trickster sounded like so much fun that I built one for fun, but I doubt I'll ever get to play him. He's also hard to really call an alchemist, because the mutagen is really the only part of the base alchemist he retains.


I built this guy as a thought experiment, and really, I just couldn't get over how I felt like "How the hell would this guy survive low levels?"

If you go Wizard into Alchemist, you're level 4-6 with a whopping +1 to +3 BAB. You sure as hell ain't sneak attacking anything, and you give up your bombs, which normally would make it capable of holding its own. Sure, you've got a handful of extracts to buff with, and you're still technically a Wizard (with Magical Knack, you're only down a single Caster Level at level 6) but it just... doesn't really feel like it has the kind of oomph that my other low level characters seem to have. I can't say for sure that it'd be painful, just that it sounds like it'd be really tough going in the early levels.

Though if I started a game at level 7, I would totally play this character without a second thought!


I threw together a level 7 Vivisectionist/Evoker/Arcane Trickster, I imagine replacing the Wizard levels with Magus could work pretty well. You'd be less cast-y but more fight-y.

Bite and Claw are Primary attacks, and I have Weapon Focus:Bite and Weapon Focus: Claw; the Claw attacks only get 1x Strength bonus to damage. Wings and Tail Slap are Secondary attacks, so they get -5 to hit and only 0.5x Strength bonus to damage. Smite Evil only give +2 damage after the first round.

Soryn roars and flies into the arena, landing roughly 20 feet in front of the Red. "I could not have been more fortuitous! Come, let us do battle!" The tiefling begins to concentrate deeply, his attention focused inside and on the opposing dragon.

Question:
Can Soryn cast spell normally? Or do I have to use Still and/or Silent Spell to cast in this form?

Soryn uses Detect Evil as a move action.

Spellcraft DC18:
Silent Stilled Haste (Caster Level 17)
When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with one natural or manufactured weapon. The attack is made using the creature's full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation. (This effect is not cumulative with similar effects, such as that provided by a speed weapon, nor does it actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round.)

A hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves. Any condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose dodge bonuses.

All of the hasted creature's modes of movement (including land movement, burrow, climb, fly, and swim) increase by 30 feet, to a maximum of twice the subject's normal speed using that form of movement. This increase counts as an enhancement bonus, and it affects the creature's jumping distance as normal for increased speed.

You also gain one bite (2d8), two claws (2d6), two wing attacks (1d8), and one tail slap attack (2d6). You can use the firebreath weapon as often as you like, but you must wait 1d4 rounds between uses. The firbreath weapon deals 12d8 points of damage in a 50-foot cone, and allows a Reflex save for half damage.
