Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Hi, Everyone!

First off, apologies for leaving anyone in the lurch by my weeks-long absence. Unfortunately, it’s my turn for that “real life” stuff to get in the way of all my fun. *sigh*

Between the time spent on my studies and other commitments, I simply have neither the energy nor the wherewithal to carry on with role-playing. Sadly, this means that I have to take a hiatus from role-playing. A real shame, as it is one of my favorite pastimes. I sat down and had a good think about it, but this is for the best, as my studies have to come first.

Playing with everyone here has been a pleasure. I always enjoyed seeing how the stories we collaborated on in the RPG environment move along nicely. It has been a pleasure and an honor playing with everyone here. I wish I was able to continue, but it would be profoundly unfair to everyone else (players and GM) if I could only commit to a sporadic appearance at best.

As the Romans would say: “Valete!” (all of you be strong/be well/farewell)

--------------------

PS: @ GM Omelas: free to bot Sorkesh as you see fit until someone else can fill my shoes.

"Is this still part of the show then?" Sorkesh asks...

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Will, DC 22: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12nope, definitely not!

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh looks in admiration at the shape of the stage.
"Interesting. My sister and I once met a copper dragon.
"Uðon
('OO-thon') was her name.
"Very nice to Senana and I, she was.
"That stage brings back memories, that does."

Sorkesh talks about meeting Uðon casually, as if it were a chance encounter with someone ordinary..

Unless someone asks him for details, he's oblivious to any long faces of what he said about Uðon.

He then bows slightly at Ahmose and goes to the front row, as directed.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Do you think his leaving is a bad sign?" Sorkesh whispers to the others

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Think we should ask about the night time fun and games on offer here?" Sorkesh whispers to Theshen and Shu-Kri.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh writes back:

Quote:
Maybe that's how she gathers secrets?

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh shrugs, but has another look/listen at the floor:
perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

but notices nothing apart from a solid floor.

Then he quickly jots down a reply on Theshen's parchment:

Quote:
eavesdropping maybe?

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Well, she has done well for herself, no doubt of it."
... Sorkesh says to nobody in particular

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Thanks. That was kind of fun, actually.

Having some natural charisma, but being a bit of a putz/clown/dimwit/prat with subtle diplomacy.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh looks at Theshen, puzzled (and clueless) ...

"What does the weather have to do with anything?" he wonders

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 ... duhhhhhh!
Oh well, every character needs defects and foibles, I reckon.

"Hello, I am Sorkesh, from Soklu in Katapesh.
"From a merchant family, me. Just admiring this place.
"Very nice indeed!
"My friends here"
, motioning to Theshen and Shu-kri
... had some questions, though."

diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Way more charm than tact, obviously...

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

You're still with us, that's the main thing...

After scarfing down a few pastries ...

In a typically blunt and tactless manner, Sorkesh will ask the servants tending to them, "Who owns this posh place? MUST be minted!"

Lack of tact:

1: How thick can he be? WIS check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6 ...quite!
2: Can he charm is way out of it? diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 ... I doubt it

This is in keeping with Sorkesh's character. Despite his upbringing, he's neither wise nor well versed in the social graces.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

That's fair enough...

Appended my action with another post. I used the random element to determine how blunt and tactless he could be.

Of course, I rolled low. But that should be in keeping with his character: since tact, guile, and subtlety are definitely not his strengths...

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh starts tucking into a few pastries, but otherwise keeps quiet.

As far as a plan goes, Sorkesh is happy to leave it up to the Theshen and Shu-Kri as he knows he's out of his element here.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

And the massive overeating that comes with Christmas too, of course!

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

Sorkesh is oblivious to all these niceties.
He nods and smiles occasionally to feign attentiveness...

bluff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorry for my absence; been busy wrapped up in all manner of real life stuff lately

I'm Normally able to post once a day. These last few days have had a lot of real life distractions for me of one sort or another.

Nothing worse than a lingering cold, but haven't been able to focus very well for all the distractions. I should be okay, now.

Oh, and welcome back Shu-kri!

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh nods assent, as he knows that being roundabout is not his own forte.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh just looks around, wondering how they should go about asking questions, now that they're actually here...
perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"The well of secrets sounds interesting."

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Might be the same cold I've got that's been lingering for a good long time! :P

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

@ GM Omelas: What were the two tasks left?
My brain is mush after a day reviewing ancient Greek grammar... :P

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Agreed! The sooner the better."

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"I guess all we need do now is slip out unnoticed.
"And take careful not of this place, should we need another quick way in or out of town again."

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

@ GM Omelas: This abandoned house we're in; was it like a mansion, or a hovel, or anywhre in between?

Sorkesh will help Theshen search their new locale:
perception, to aid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Well! This is a bit of luck!
"We should remember this.
"Never know when it could come in handy again.
"Should we look for anything useful here before we carry on?"

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Hope this does the trick." Sorkesh says as he lights a torch to see down the tunnel.

perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
I seem to keep getting jammy rolls for perception despite being my worst skill. :D

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Thank you so much" Sorkesh says politely.

Sorkesh goes to check the narrower curtain on the Eastern wall.
perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Oh, no thank you. I'm not hungry at the moment.
"If you'd be kind enough to tell us a path by tunnel into the city that would be lovely."

diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Sorkesh is not exactly fibbing here..
He is a half-orc, but he's never been desperate enough to eat what she's offering.
Whatever it is, beyond vile smelling...

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorry! Just been flat out tired studying and stuff...

Trying to get caught up with all my on line business now...

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Sorry. We've had a few scrapes in this town. Can't be too careful around here, it seems."

Mishtes sheathes his Gladius, avoiding any sudden moves.

He then holds his hands forward palms up to indicate he's not holding any weapons.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh is wary, but will let Theshen do the talking for now.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh readies himself for a fight.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Sorkesh will have his gladius ready; just in case.

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Well, might as well check this opening, since we're here anyway."

Sorkesh lights a torch and goes in, cautiously, first.
perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19 There's a bit of luck!

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Hope that goes well for you!

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Shall we try that site near the well? Hope it's not a trap, though."

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Trifling details! :D

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Didn't Shu-kri somehow find her way out through one of the tunnels earlier?

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Provided we don't get lost, we should be fine."

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"I've got some coin (8 gp max) to put toward the levy, if needs be.
"Or we could try our luck with those tunnels again."

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Well spotted, Theshen! At least we're not coming out empty handed!"

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Not seeing anything resembling a shipment, Sorkesh says "I hope there's something in here after all this bother!"

And then starts searching the room to see if there's anywhere a shipment might be hidden:
perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
...but doesn't find anything (not too surprisingly)

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Are you well enough to get this shipment out of the way first, Shu-kri?"

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

"Agreed. I think we also need more practice dealing with snakes!
Didn't first think something so small could be so fast."

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Round 6

Sorkesh strikes at the snake with his gladius (yet again):

gladius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
(not much of a wallop, that!)

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Round 5

Sorkesh tries killing the snake, again, with his gladius:

gladius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
(p/s damage)

Male Half-Orc Magus (inactive)

Thanks...
