Tall and lean nearly to the point of being scrawny. Slarus bares copperish hair due to the combination of deep red and brown hair that sprouts upon his head. His eyes are a deep purple, a sign of his ancient lines tie to the legendary Azlanti. While his dusky skin tone shows the more recent infusion of Varisian blood with in his family and their Korvosian branch. His features are strong and sharp while still complimenting his long limbed form rather then contradicting it.

Normally Slarus wears comfortable yet stylish clothes. A denizen of city streets while taking the lessons of the wider world he learned from his past to heart. He is never without a walking stick or staff, often covered in designs, motifs, or gems. As well as three belts around his waist, two hanging crooked in opposite directions with rows of vials and pouches while the third is stright holding wands in their own holsters on one side with a scroll box on the opposite end.

Background:

Prologue

Slarus Leroung was born a scion of the Great House Leroung, yet he was not the oldest or even of the direct line which had long ago been split between multiple nations as the house grew in both power and number. Such his fate would never be tied to ruling even a branch of the great house save under rampant loss of scions across the inner sea. Still he would have all that a noble of house Leroung was afforded. A comfortable and well educating childhood that was cut short with his impressive mental abilities. Something that was not uncommon among the lore focused house, that coupled with a talent for study and the understanding of magic made it clear that his path was one of wizardry. Among the youngest to ever be accepted into the famous Acadamae, his survival was guaranteed by virtue of his family name. Still the Acadamae did not suffer the unworthy and while his house would grant him safety it would not grant him an easy path in the magical college. In this respect Slarus had little to worry, for not only was his knowledge advanced by access to his families many libraries but his talent held true. Finding conjuration the most interesting, more so it's ability to teleport across space and even planes, he made it his school of choice. With a ravenous drive and hunger for knowledge he ignored nearly all other petty concerns that other students occupied their time with. In effect causing his abilities and understanding of magic to increase at a much faster rate. In a unheard of and some say scandalously short time, a mere three years, Slarus passed the test of graduation and left the Acadamae a full fledged wizard.

Travels

Quickly growing bored of Korvosa having devoured the lore of it's greatest arcane college and tasted all it's delights soon after. Slarus finally made the choice to set out into the world. Starting with his homeland outside the city walls he had always known. Varisia was a land of ancient mystery and forgotten power. With his families wealth and earned knowledge he set out for the many ruins of Varisia, as well as her other major cities and budding villages. During his journey around Varisia he interacted with the native Shoanti and wandering Varisians. In fact he grew interested in the mystics among the varisians that practiced ancient tattoo magic. Earning one of his own from them upon his final days before moving on. So did Slarus move about the Inner Sea learning and picking through the many lands for lore and knowledge. Making a point to visit ancient sites of magical history.

Slarus Leroung
DC 5- Slarus Leroung is a scion of the Great House Leroung.

DC 10- Slarus is a wizard of some power, not only a graduate of the Acadamae but is among it's youngest entries and shortest enrolled students.

DC 15- Free from the Acadamae, Slarus left Korvosa for years exploring the world and foreign lands. Upon reaching Absalom he had a tower of black marble from Janderhoff built in the Foreign Quarter. Opening his shop on the expanded ground floor he called it Tome of Wands.

DC 20- A worshiper of the All Seeing Nethys, Slarus often visits the temple of the god of magic in the near by Ascendant Court. He is also known to be able to gain magical items of minor power upon request without fail. While this makes him a tempting target of thieves he has shown himself to be an unbending and dangerous man to fool with. Paying out of pocket for professional mercenaries to take care of the thieves that dared to attempt to steal from him or threaten him for protection money.

Duke of Shadows
DC 15- A man, or so they say, that works out of the Foreign Quarter. Hard to get in touch and even harder to deal with. Only people of means or with little to lose deal with him.

DC 20- He knows a lot about almost everything, can make papers, and get just about anything too. But he's not cheap, even if all your paying is a favor or a few.

Twilight Serpent
DC 5- The Twilight Serpent is a masked man that dwells in Absalom.

DC 10- Twilight Serpent is a friend to the people of Absalom, preying on the wicked.

DC 15- Twilight Serpent is treated differently by the organizations of Absalom. The Varlokkur are slow to chase him as while they may not completely agree with his methods they do not disagree with the results. The City Guard tries to capture him at every turn yet is reluctant to kill him in the process.

DC 20- The Twilight Serpent has a vicious streak about him, especially to those that deal in trafficking or using people. Strangely he has never gone after Misery Row in the Coins. While many think the name has to do with his favored serpent staff and the magic it spews forth, others know better. Twilight Serpent does not always catch or kill his targets, some escape him. Yet they always find their lives ruined, poisoned by the Twilight Serpent. Crimes laid bare, secrets exposed, and the likes of the Varlokkur and City Guard come to call.

Persona's:

Slarus has a number of persona's he takes on as needed.

The Noble Merchant
The most exposed and used persona of Slarus is the one many people see on a daily basis. That of a noble turned merchant, the shop owner of Tome of Wands, who runs a lawful business dealing mostly but not restricted to tomes, magical items, and rare components. He is fair minded, generous, and diplomatic. Playing the politics of local law and noble intrigue as needed yet remaining out of them as is his families way.

The Duke of Shadows
His underworld persona, the duke of shadows, is a refined dealer in all things arcane. As well as a skilled forger of documents. He is a source of forbidden lore and seeker of secrets. Not above taking favors as payment when costumers lack other means. He deals only in the Foreign Quarter and claims that district as his territory. Something that is rarely contested, for those that do quickly find no end of trouble, legal or otherwise.

The duke of shadows is known to deal by way of middlemen and agents. On the rare occasion when he deals in person he is dressed in wealthy clothes of black and brown with a plain black mask and always in shadow. Leading many to think he is a worshiper of the king of thieves Norgorber.

The Twilight Serpent
His most notorious and well known persona, twilight serpent is a tactical minded and systematic combatant. Known to target the wicked he is considered a friend to the people of Absalom. Relentless, merciless, and seemingly with endless effort he is dogged in his pursuit of evil. While he tries to be as precise with his efforts as he can, he is not above causing damage to achieve his goal. This aspect does not include innocents and bystanders as he never puts them in the line of fire. Reserving his most vicious attention for those that would be foolish enough to consider this a weakness to be used against him.

Twilight Serpent is always seen in black robes with white trim wearing a black and white swirling patterned mask. A black hooded cloak often covering his blonde shoulder length hair. His favored staff of a black serpent with white stripes ever at hand.

Nemesis (Yarcil Feyheart):

Yarcil Feyheart was born to a powerful elven sorcerer with strong ties to the first world. Ever lustful and roaming, his partners were many and often short lived affairs. One such lover was a succubus that oddly enough was with child after their encounter. While the succubus was interested only in spawning a pawn and tool, the sorcerer despite his nature and short lived interest had a surprisingly strong fatherly side to him. He quickly found out about his would be child and guessed the fate in store for them. Finding the succubus and demanding his child be turn over to him upon birth he claimed her. The succubus after giving birth attempted to take back the child only to find the sorcerer was not as weak as he appeared. Viciously defeating the demoness he warned her never to interfere with his daughter on pain of death, for he had only spared her to avoid becoming the murderer of his child's mother. Banishing the succubus he proceeded to raise his child.

Choosing the River Kingdoms to temporarily settle down, or remain with in it's borders at least. He went about raising his daughter Yarcil as best he could. With no small amount of help from the fey of those lands as well as those that came from the first world she grew up well if not normally for a tiefling. Discovering a talent for witchcraft she then learned from the fickle fey witches of the forest, favored by their own patron in trickery. Yarcil's father took less of an active role as she grew older and more of a independent woman. Finally she chose to travel the river kingdoms on her own, that was when she met Slarus Leroung on his own travels. The two quickly got along and formed a romantic relationship. While it was not the first affair of ether and both were used to moving on in time, Yarcil felt more strongly for Slarus then any before, not long after following him more then sharing the same roads. Yet Yarcil knew nothing of romantic love or such relationships, having the mentality of a fey more then anything else. Her possisive nature grated on Slarus to the point that they had a rather unpleasant falling out. Left by the one she loved and unable to cope she lashed out by attempting to harm him. While Slarus had enough feeling for her to restrain her rather then attempt to bring great harm to her, Yarcil cared not at all for collateral damage. Causing destruction and death with in difference in her actions against Slarus. Forcing the wizard to use lethal means to stop her which resulted in her death.

Still Yarcil's father would not let that be the end of his beloved daughter. Regardless of how she had died he would not allow her to remain so. Yet despite his sorcerous strength, bring back the dead was often the realm of the divine. Ever cunning with secrets of the first world granted by it's masters he would use it to return Yarcil to the mortal world. Using a ritual of magic he summoned Yarcil's mother to a crossing of the mortal world and the first world. The succubus delighted in her wayward daughters fate quickly found herself bound. For the sorcerer would not return his daughter as she was, he would have her reborn as more then what she was. Using magic of the first world along with the soul of Yarcil and the body of the succubus she was reborn as her mother was destroyed.

Yarcil Feyheart returned to a body greater then her own, one made of fiendish flesh and first world magic. Yet her father warned her that her soul was now part of that body and tied to the first world. This was the price of her death and rebirth, their would be no third chances and he would serve in the first world for the favor he had been granted. Promising to return one day and wishing her a better second life he left to the first world.

While Yarcil took her fathers words to heart she could not forget Slarus and her feelings for him had not diminished. She would not be reckless again, she would plan and shape events. She would have Slarus and everything she desired in time and by any means.
