I am thinking of playing a Wizard as it does seem no one has made one yet. No reason we can't have two. I was thinking about going more with a Paladin-lite sort of Cleric, and not so much the spellcasty kind. Wizard could also be cool, though. Don't let me stop you from doing what you want. If you do go Cleric, we could use that to sort of act like each other's foils a bit, RPing the differences in faiths. Could be really interesting in the Kingpriest era when they start persecuting neutral and then even other good faiths. Shalafi2412 wrote: Daniel the choices I have are the Dragon War with Human or the last Kingpriest. I am putting it to a vote. I'm good with either. It will really impact the build ad story of the character I make, though, so the more info we get the better. For example, if we go with the Kingpriest, I will drop the whole concept about striving to be the High Clerist, and probably go with something much more along the lines of a knight-cleric caught in the middle of two rights, struggling to pick sides or find the greater good.
Shalafi2412 wrote: High Clerist has to be a cleric of Kiri Jolith. Why a great healer if not a follower of Mishakel? Yah, I forgot about that and will probably switch over to KJ. As far as the healer, part of the character concept is that he is respectful off all the good deity's, believing that all of them have lessons to teach, but at the same time, he is most interested in the Knighthood. It's a way for him to improve it, and it's mostly going to focus on trying to learn from the various races as an out of character excuse why he would travel and be friends with elves, dwarves, and kender, something to work towards, and things like that. I'm not trying to be the best healer, (and I also do not expect him out of character to actually become the High Clerist), that's just a part of his motivation. I'm augmenting his original story a bit, because it's been a while, and the other game I played in was at a point before the gods returned, (so I had no magic and little actual knowledge of the divine). I'm still kind of tossing around idea, so let me write up a full background and we will go from there. Suggestions are always welcome, I'm just kind of still in the planning phase, and completely open to intergrating the other characters.
No worries. The basic storyline I was going to go with is that I was a minor noble whose family had fallen out of favor back in the day, and who is striving to become a Solomnic Knight (or is either way works). He is a preist, and is now trying to travel the world to learn the various styles and schools of healing, hoping to better incorporate it into the Knighthoods existing battle tactics. I was also thinking about retaining the lost heir of the last High Clerist, (keeping in mind that no one really knows what actually happened), and hopes to one day become the first new High Clerist. He is a faithful and mostly peaceful warrior-priest of Paladine. I'll write it up with more detail once I get a chance. On one hand, I would like to work towards becoming a Knight, but on the other, I don't want to push that one the game if there is already a story in mind, so I could go wither way.
I have updated the character sheet to reflect the above specified character creation guidelines. I wasn't sure if you use Traits, but I assumed so and included them. Let me know what you think. :) Also didn't know if I should start out as a Knight or be trying to attain it, or if you had any guidance on that. I could go either way.
I would love to join. I am a huge fan of the setting, and am really wanting to play a (non-jerk) Knight of Solomnia Cleric type. Paladine, Kiri-Jolith, or maybe even Mishakel or Majere, (depending on if you might allow it). I included (the avatar) an old dragonlance character I had, as an example of what I might go with if accepted, but it will obviously need rebuilt.
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
Sorry, redeployment classes and reintigration caught me a little off guard, (but that is all over now). My only issue is that I am completely lost as to what is going on. Even before I left, I honestly was not sure what we are doing or why, past finding the temple with the Hound Arcon inside. Also, since we began, we have lost a lot of people. At this point, I might suggest some sort of restart, like say from the temple on, but after recruiting a few more folks. I was really enjoying the game and want to continue, but (and it is my fault), I feel completely lost.
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
I assumed no, but I will see if I can identify anything of the banners, Know Nobility 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 I think that to send anyone yonder might induce too much noise for us to get a better look without being detected. The banner is that of a Red Dragon, creatures we now knoweth first hand might exist along with the darkness we hath already seen. I'm happy that little brother has found a faith to believe in, I am, but with what we saw whilst leaving Solace, and now this, perhaps another army, I fear we have fled the start of a war we might have made a real difference in. We need to warn people of what is coming, if it hasn't already reached them. We should travel to Solomnia. The knights there can fight these armies.
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
ok, then I'd like the shield (could have sworn it said heavy somewhere). :) Also, I forgot the rules for HP. I think I said I was going for the average HP, and I think there where special rules for that. If not, I'll roll. Everything else is updated, I believe. +1 Rank to Diplomacy, Know Religion, and Sense Motive, and I added Spellcraft. +1 Str, BaB, Fort and Will.
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
I'm leaning towards Paladine, but I also want to be a Clerist. In the book, it mentions a lot that Kiri-Jolith is the patron, but the mechanics do not specify you need to be a Cleric of Kiri-Jolith specifically. If you would allow, I'm ging to pick Paladine, though I still want to hold off a little for that, for RP reasons. Not too much longer, I just don't like the about face it would mean sort of out of nowhere. That being said, if no one else minds, I'm interested in the shield, the wooden case (though not the rocks, ha ha ha), and the dagger, most. None of them really matter so much to me though. I don't use a dagger, don't use a Heavy shield, et. . .
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
I'll level up soon. And Trap, why on earth would you want to be a Cleric when Kender look so nice in mage robes. And all those interesting spell components. And some much shiney, shiney stuff. And it's like a game. You get to walk around and shout incoherent mumbo-jumbo and make all kinds of funny hand motions. Being a real wizard is probably the most amazing thing ever. Well, I'll bet there has never been a KinderMage before. Plus, they give you more pouches...
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
I recognize the name, Paladine. The primary patron of the Knights of Solomnia, and head of the Order of the Rose. We call him Draco Paladine. Also the horned one, whose symbol is the Bison of Heaven, Kiri-Jolith, Sword of Justice, who also is sacred patron or the Order of the Sword and the Clerists order, and his brother, Habbakuk, sealord and Fisher King, know as the unlikely patron of the Order of the Crown. [i]I had always believed them to be important founds of the knighthood. Founders in a sense, though certainly mortal ones, made imortal through legend and fame. Didst thou speak to another elf, an elderly man some months or years back? And what meanist thou by "Marshal of the Fifth Golden Flight"? Art thou a knight? I'd like to roll a
I do not mean to be rude, but what art thou, Mr.(?) Y'lendon, and how is it that Master-Gnome Rumal is returned to us. I touched his body, myself. It was lifeless. There was not even the spark of hope of revival within him, and even so, his wounds where too fatal to survive. And yet, here he standeth? Does he have a silver arm?
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
I of course, am very interested, and would like to take the time to study both the discs, the dog, the waters, and all. Completely caught by surprize, and wonder at the dog speaking, it take a moment to form a thought. . . You say, "If one of you is to champion the return of goodness to the land". Does this mean that only one of us might be a champion?
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
And what nature of beast is this, that it's playful licking can revive the dead. Lil' Rumal, how do you feel? As I kneel down besides him to inspect, looking at his pupilar respoce, check pulse, etc. . . (does he currently have a silver arm?). Lay still, my friend, let us not look the gift-horse in the mouth and overexert thyself before ready. Tell me, what did you see? Do you remember us moving thee? Once things calm down a bit, That dragon, after slaying thee, left us in darkness, with a warning to leave. We retreated to a building filled with statues of "evil gods", and made a place for thine remains. The other began to look about, and I decided that such a place was not suitable for thee, even for a temporary accomidation, and began to carry thee to the next building. The, . . . dog (?) rushed at us from nowhere, and it licked thee, and thou awoke. I, I admit, with you falling, I hadn't the heart to continue. I, . . . You faught with bravery. I am proud of you.
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
I assume that I see a large dog running at me, some sort of fluid in it's mouth that wouldn't be mistaken for rabies at all, dashing at me from the temple the others are in, might cause me to stop and put his body down just on the odd chance that that might be the intentions. . . :)
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
Hu'tonkton wrote: He looks away and nods toward the other building. "Thought to have a look. Might be better to lay the gnome - Rumal, I mean - behind closed doors." You are correct. I am, uncomfortable leaving him in this place. I shall be right behind you., [i]as I collect up Rumal's remains and begin to transport them to the building Hu indicated.
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
Assuming the Kinder-Medic didn't deprive me off it, I'll go ahead and test my riddle theory by taking out my Bull'seye Lanters and light it, shining ti throughout the room. "Fear not the darkness; instead shine light upon it." It seems odd that they suggest to know the enemy, and to become enlightened to their tactics and weaknessess, but then hide them in a dark room,. . . :)
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
Once the body is down, and covered s well as we can, I'll pull out my Hooded Lantern and begin to helf clear the alter. I'll take the time to clean it, as I don't want to spill anything. Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 <Endurence Feat> As I'm probably the only one that can read it, I'll read it aloud. "Fear not the darkness; instead shine light upon it. For it is in the dark that evil hides. We fear no evil, we hold faith in Paladine and Mishakal, Kiri-Jolith and Habbakuk. In their grace, we shall banish these gods from the worship of men. See them. Learn them and their weaknesses, for it is this knowledge that shall help us defeat them. And keep to the faith. Stray not from the light." I'll "Take 10" on the Religion check for a 15. These seem to be a pantheon of evil. It is possible this is some sort of riddle, as they do seem to have been hidden away. Odd, it mentions the three patrons of my order, and the consort and mother of the three. Also, it speak of "the evil" as if they are real beings. Most literture I see, most priests and prophets takeh more a tone of an inpersonal force, or a pety immortal.
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
I'll take the time to bandage myself up, still looking very hurt. We need to decideth what we are to do now. With an army on the move, and our friend gone, I just don't know. I mean to say, I had heard rumors of war and evil building to the north. But, not of dragons. . . . I'm not delusional, am I. That was, indeed, a dragon, yes?
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
Continuing to work, even past the point he knows it is in vein, even going so far as to rip the patch the Kinder placed on him to keep himself alive, and ignoring the questions for a moment, hiding the single tear from the Kinder, He is gone Return this, . . . Gnome-man to Huma's breast. Beyond the wild, impartial skies. Grant to him a warrior's rest. And set the last spark of his eyes. Free from the smothering clouds of wars. Upon the torches of the stars. Let the last surge of his breath. Take refuge in the cradling air. Above the dreams of ravens where. Only the hawk remembers death. Then let his shade to Huma rise. Beyond the wild, impartial skies. The turmoil within his heart is like a frivolous ocean bounce from side to side. Within the temple, he remembered seeing a statue. A statue of one of the "true" gods, or so the elf had implied. They had ventured here, another quest in search of beings that, if they ever existed, had chosen to remain apart from the suffering we mortals bear. Choose not to lend a hand to those that would seek their aid. Choose not to hold back the darkness and the evil of old legends reborn. Choose not to empower true champions, true knights and warriors against te coming evils we have already witnessed prepairing. And yet, a Gnome. A brave and crazy Gnome, without their aid stood against that evil for his friends, and even a stranger traveling with them. Though it cost him everything, he stood so that others might live. With out them. It is for that, that his anger would wait. He had more important, more holy tasks at hand in carring for his friend. We need to find a place to lay him to rest. Does anyone know the Gnomish custom for such things looking towards Durom and truely hoping not to hear any of Trap's good natured, but crazy stories about his expeditions to Gnomeland on a 3rd hidden moon. . .. I vaguely recalleth tales of a "life-questing"?
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
I still live. Durom? Hu'tonkton? Rumal?. . . Rumal? Assuming a moment goes by, and the darkness vanishes as the dragon leaves, I drop my swrd with a loud clanging as I rush to the Gnome's side, quickly trying every bit of healing lore I can to save the already dead corpse of my friend.
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
Yes, I'm both rping and I just charged. Even if I 5ft stepped away for the next 4 rounds to avoid AoO, I don't see the dragon not at the least knocking me out. Might as well give the others a chance to flee, by soaking up either it's Full Attack, or something.

Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Either way, that just about does it for me, though. "Tell my father, . . . I faught . . . and died, . . . with honor. . ." "And this is the lesson the Elg-mage would teach us. That those who seek in honest faith, deities of old legend, shall be consumed in darkness that flies on black wings. Their souls sizzled away by a corrupting acid", he thinks as his life begins to flash before his mind's eye. "Flee, my friends. I am done for, but I can still buy time that thou may escape."
Male Human (Civilized, Solomnic) (Crusader) Cleric
His life, rather short, begins to flash before his minds eye as he beholds . . . it. How is this possible. No dragon has been seen by mortal eyes since the times of legend, and yet here, past all myth and story, breaking the bindings of reality and sanity, here, one stood. Filled with majestic cruelty and a heart as black and vile as the magic-induced darkness that seems to eminate from it. This fear, this utter fear, must have been what his ancestors, great Knights since the dawn of time had felt every time they had met such on the field of battle. To live in victory, or to die in honor. Was that what his life had led too. The first to fight a dragon, a real dragon in these dark times. SO BE IT!!! If this is the end, I'll not waiver now. And maybe, just maybe, . . . no time for that. "For Solomnia!!!" as I charge, filled with visions of glory.
I did mention what I wanted on my tombstone, right. :)
