Background:
Sindarin was born to an elven father and a human mother in the nation of Nirmathas. His father, Feralon, served under Irgal Nirmath in the Freedom War. Feralon continues to serve his nation as part of a group of rangers that protects locals and those traveling through their region. When Sindarin hit later adolescence, his father and his father’s friends started to train him and his brother, Aldrin, in the ways of the Nirmathi rangers. There were a couple others their age that joined the group at about the same time and the four quickly became a tight-knit group.

Aldrin and Sindarin loved the work – and especially the attention that came along with it. The rangers have a bit of a reputation for being intimidating and mysterious and Sindarin and Aldrin liked to play this up when around strangers, particularly the women. He is warm and open with his friends, however, and professional with those he works with. When not showing off, he and his friends often goofed around within their group and frequently tried to one-up each other by trying to sneak up on each other and saying things like, “Daydreaming about me again?” Despite these antics, they were also good at what they did and took their duties as protectors seriously. They even developed a vow for their group which they are quite proud of:

I am a Nirmathi ranger.
If by my blade or my bow, I can protect you, I will.
In the name of Gozreh, I protect the lands and waters of this earth.
In the name of Iomedae, I protect all that is honorable and good.

Increasingly disturbing and detailed dreams have sent Sindarin to Breachill in search of answers and to offer any aid he can. See journal entries for details.

The dreams have returned and they are becoming more and more frequent. For years they have plagued me, but I never knew what to make of them. Mother and father swear that I never had an incident with fire. I have stopped talking about them much, just another recurring nightmare. Or, so I thought. We recently saved a caravan from a hobgoblin attack. Their wagon was damaged and Enna and I stayed with them while Orom and Aldrin went for help. There was a traveling scholar with them called Neera. She sat with us while we ate and asked about our lives. Enna is always wanting to read more, so Neera gave her a book on dragons as a thank you for helping her. Dragons of all things!

I thought is was funny and nothing that we would ever need, but Enna loved it and I watched over her shoulder as she flipped through. Suddenly, she turned a page and it was like a punch to the chest. There on the page, clear as day, was the very symbol that I’ve been seeing in my dreams! It sounds impossible, but I know it’s the exact same. I asked Enna if I could borrow the book and read what I could. It turns out that its’ the symbol for the dragon God Dahak. God to evil dragons, mind you. I read the entire entry, but there wasn’t much there. What can this mean? I’ve been having dreams about a dragon god??? I admit I am unsettled by this, but I need more time to think on it.

Things have changed completely now. Last night I dreamt again, but it was so much more detailed than before. And there was a name on a building – Breachill Town Hall. Then the whole town burning, as usual. I don’t know what to do. Am I evil? What is wrong with me?

-Later-

I had a long talk with Aldrin. He thinks I am being called by Gozreh or Iomedae (or both!). He doesn’t think it’s me that there is something wrong with, but that I have been called to help. As soon as he said it, it felt true. I am convinced Breachill is a real place. I haven’t told father yet. Or Enna or Aldrin, but I know I have to go, and soon.

I’m on my way now. I came across a temple to Iomedae (Awesome*. I have never seen anything like it. Who knew buildings could be that large!). They allowed me to use their libraries and read what more I could about Dahak. I can’t understand the connection to these dreams. I keep thinking maybe a dragon comes to Breachill, but what can I do against a dragon? Enna offered me her book on dragons when I left, so I took that as well. It makes me think of her everytime I see it.

*Awesome is used in the traditional sense here, as in "awe-inspiring".

I have arrived in Breachill. It IS the place from my dreams. I cannot believe it. The town seems normal enough. They have a "Call to Heroes" later this month. I will stay at least that long...I haven't told anyone why I am here. What would I say? "I had dreams about your town burning?" I'm sure that would not be taken kindly. I will wait and see what happens.
