We need to send Kraven to look at that gargoyle statue and dead ends it seems.

He also should have seen through the illusions immediately. I don't want my 6th level slot burned without being useful...

Now that I do feel sorry for, I was very much attached to sparkle. Had he died in a typical fashion he would simply have returned to the plane he came from, Simo says with a sigh, Still - I much prefer unmaking a familiar than myself.

I found a hole down this way, is there any good quick method to scout it out? I can bond with a new familiar if needed.

You tell me, what's the point of magic eyes if you can't tell if anything you see is magical or not? All I know is that I don't trust that fog, so there must be some trick again.

Yeah, paladins hit like trucks. An extra 2d8 compared to a Sun Sword or something similar is pretty brutal - especially with their Improved Divine Smite. Right now, at level 12, a 6th level magic missile deals between 56 and 80 force damage for me as a wizard.

They're absolutely something you need to build encounters with them in mind and have enemies approach intelligently or die from.

I don't see how you can expend one spell slot to get both a smite and activate that ability. Costing two spell slots is a pretty heavy expense.

That UA for warlocks is one of the best things published for 5e right now. I hope the entire thing makes it to print.

Simo pokes around the room while his see invisibility lasts, moving slow and steady and turning each stone and tracing masonry in the walls with his fingers. He also investigates the urn the gargoyle was near.

If we rest, Simo does this at the end. If not he does it right now.

Very well, come here Kraven! Close your eyes, this stuff will blind you if you don't hold them tight, Simo applies a pungent savory-smelling salve onto Kraven's closed eyes, This paste will hold them shut and open your deepest mind to the weave, boy.

Simo steps back and waves his hands in front of the kneeling Kraven, there is a visible aura around the two of them as Simo chants the words of power. When he is done he taps Kraven's forehead. When Kraven stands his eyes are covered in a pale dried glue while in the center of his forehead glows a magical censor. Simo is breathing a little hard when he says, There, with this you can see anything that lays before us in its true form.

Simo has cast true seeing on Kraven, using one of his material components on it. For the next hour he can do all this. He also can see out to his normal range of sight too, I just liked the flavor.

Simo snorts inside the room, More secret doors. I want to open someone's third eye - someone that is the point of the spear. But first I want to make absolutely sure no one wants to rest first, because I'm not wasting powerful magic without getting the full hour's worth!

Wait!, Simo says, The spell is undone by death, but the creature lives. This is why you don't take shortcuts in your magical training. It also had a necklace that could be important to this room, we must make a decision how to act but if we destroy it - by say throwing it into the green face's mouth - we lose the items it carried as well.

It begins...

I consider this a good sign! Simo laughs a little as he cals out a song of ice and grips his fist an an awkward way causing a layer of frost to form on the creature.

The creature must make a DC17 Constitution save or take...
Frostbite Damage: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 6, 5) + 5 = 18 cold damage and it has disadvantage on its next weapon attack roll it takes on its turn.

Simo studies the device for a time while the door is being cleared, This is a simple three-part code. I don't think anything has mention green yellow and blue so far. Damn, if I hadn't sent sparkle to his doom I could have figured this out! Curse my haste! Sen, come back - your location is probably more dangerous than the door in the wall. When can come back to this door later if we get stuck.

Simo says, No one go near the face. Sparkle wasn't simply killed, but unmade in some fashion. I don't think there is anything that can survive such magic, and continues his ritual.

Fortunately, we don't have to mess with anything. Sparkle, crawl into that face opening, Simo says feeding him a little treat first, Sorry for risking your neck, but we both know the deal. Sparkle crawls down his back and down the hall into the darkness inside the face. That should take care of that.

One of you bruisers start smashing holes in all this plaster, there has to be something more here. It's not like we care about preserving this... art.

Simo sits, I'm going to investigate these glowing stones, maybe the nature of the enchantment will give a clue. Simo takes 10 minutes to perform identify as a ritual.

Well, then, Simo exclaims angrily, You're the last hope, Sparkle! He holds the pot and paces Sparkle inside. He hangs the pot from a 10-foot pole and says, OK, now you extend that pole into the fog and I will try and see the other side.

And Simo will concentrate on sharing Sparkles senses as the pot is extended through the mist.

Well that didn't work, Simo hurrumpfs, I was hoping I could make a small window, but I will have to use less refined methods.

Time for some expirementation! Simo yips with a bit too much glee. Holding the edge of the pot he inserts it into the mist to try and create a small hole around the metal. He is careful not to touch the mist.

Sparkle is on his forearm ready for action if it works.

It's a door... a sophisticated one. It uses these stones, Simo says pointing, to allow those with the knowledge to bypass it. I suggest this may be the best path forward over whatever trap nonsense is going on with that face. Simo stares into the mist for a time, But how deep is it?

Simo pulls the iron pot many a crappy stew has been burned in and thrusts it out, Can someone take the flat end off this to make a big tube? I doubt you'll miss my night to cook.

Erik, Elrick? Wolf-guy! My familiar didn't set off anything ahead, but about 100 feet up there is an obvious trap face carving and a dangerous doorway filled with thick fog. Make sure to put some weight on those tiles before stepping use a staff, sword, or pole before each step! Let us know when we can approach, I'll send Sparkle to get the others.
