Gnome Cunning. You have advantage on all Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against magic.
Artificer's Lore. Whenever you make an Intelligence (History) check related to magic items, alchemical objects, or technological devices, you can add twice your proficiency bonus, instead of any proficiency bonus you normally apply.
Tinker. You have proficiency with artisan's tools (tinker's tools). Using those tools, you can spend 1 hour and 10 gp worth of materials to construct a Tiny c1ockwork device (AC 5, 1 hp). The device ceases to function after 24 hours (unless you spend 1 hour repairing it to keep the device functioning), or when
you use your action to dismantle it; at that time, you can
reclaim the materials used to create it. You can have up
to three such devices active at a time.
When you create a device, choose one of the following options:
✴ Clockwork Toy. This toy is a clockwork animal, monster, or person, such as a frog, mouse, bird, dragon, or soldier. When placed on the ground, the toy moves 5 feet across the ground on each of your turns in a random direction. It makes noises as appropriate
to the creature it represents.
✴ Fire Starter. The device produces a miniature flame, which you can use to light a candle, torch, or campfire. Using the device
requires your action.
✴ Music Box. When opened, this music box plays a single song at a moderate volume. The box stops playing when it reaches the song's end or when it is closed.
Folk Hero. You come from a humble social rank, but you are destined for so much more. Already the people of your home village regard you as their champion, and your destiny calls you to stand against the tyrants and monsters that threaten the common folk everywhere.
✴ Defining Event You previously pursued a profession of crafting potions and simple devices, but when the monster struck I stood alone against it driving it away from the city.
✴ Rustic Hospitality Since you come from the ranks of common folk, you fit in among them with ease. You can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other commoners, unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them. They will shield you from the law or anyone else searching for you, though they will not risk their lives for you.
✴ Personality "I'm confident in my own abilities and do what I can to instill confidence and others."
✴ Ideal "Sincerity. There's no good in pretending to be something I'm not."
✴ Bond "My tools are symbols of my past life, and I carry them so that I will never forget my roots."
✴ Flaw "I have a weakness for the vices of the city, especially a hard drink."
Spellcasting. As a student of arcane magic, you have a spellbook containing spells that show the first glimmerings of your true power. Spell DC is 17, spell attack is +9, slots recharge with long rest.
✴ Cantrips (At Will): fire bolt (3d10+5), frostbite (3d6+5), mending, message, prestidigitation
✴ Spellbook (28 spells): 1st level: comprehend languages, detect magic, feather fall, find familiar, identify, mage armor, magic missile, shield, tenser's floating disk, unseen servant 2nd level: misty step, invisibility, see invisibility, spider climb, shatter 3rd level: blink, counterspell, dispel magic, fireball, fly, leomund's tiny hut, melf's minute meteors, nondetection 4th level: dimension door, leomund's secret chest, otiluke's resilient sphere, wall of fire 5th level: bigby's hand, mislead, teleportation circle, wall of force 6th level: chain lightning, magic jar, sunbeam, true seeing
✴ Prepared Spells (1 minute per level to prepare): magic missile, misty step, invisibility, see invisibility, shatter, blink, counterspell, dispel magic, fly, melf's minute meteors, dimension door, otiluke's resilient sphere, wall of fire, bigby's hand, mislead, wall of force, sunbeam, true seeing
✴ Ritual Casting You can east a wizard spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you have the spell in your spellbook. You don't need to have the spell prepared.
✴ Spellcasting Focus You can use an arcane focus as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells.
Arcane Recovery. You have learned to regain some of your magical energy by studying your spellbook. Once per day when you finish a short rest, you can choose expended spell slots
to recover. The spell slots can have a combined level that is equal to or less than half your wizard level (rounded up), and none of the slots can be 6th level or higher.
Evocation Savant. Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy an evocation spell into your spellbook is halved.
Sculpt Spells. Beginning at 2nd level, you can create pockets of relative safety within the effects of your evocation spells. When you cast an evocation spell that affects other creatures that you can see, you can choose a number of them equal to 1 + the spell's level. The chosen creatures automatically succeed on their saving throws against the spell, and they take no damage if they would normally take half damage on a successful save.
Potent Cantrip. Starting at 6th level, your damaging cantrips affect even creatures that avoid the brunt of the effect. When a creature succeeds on a saving throw against your cantrip, the creature takes half the cantrip's damage (if any) but suffers no additional effect from the cantrip.
Empowered Evocation. Beginning at 10th level, you can add your Intelligence modifier to the damage roll of any wizard evocation spell you cast.
Simo gets his name from his pointy head and white hair, which he has become proud of and keeps cleanly shaved.
He was a humble small-time magic shop owner making healing potions and small common items for home use when the city he lived in the suburbs of came under attack. During the attack he came face to face with a Gauth summoned by the teleportation magic used in the battle. He held it off while the borough escaped to the safety shelters, and was the last one in that day and saved dozens of his neighbors.
Since then his adventurer career has snowballed, allowing him to grow to rare heights in magical power. Even so he spends his off time in the neighborhood he still loves and who treats him well despite the occasional rough night at the tavern.
