Right now I am playing a Halfling sylvan scorcer riding a lion, it's way too much fun, the party often jokes that all ever I do is buff my Lion, they accuse me of being a dedicated lion fluffer. (which is not entirely true I also blast things as I ride the Lion). Or more accurately they also joke I am playing a lion with a pet halfling. Along these lines, I rolled up a whole party of Lion riding halfling. The cleric may be a better Lion fluffer than the sorcerer... Really

Priestess (or Priest) of Fur & Imagination in the cult of the Divine Lion Fluffers ---- a Halfling cleric with the Domains of Fur and Imagination.

Your first feat should be Boon Companion. the second feat should be selective channel (no concentration checks from violent movement while riding) Take Halfling outrider and the traits Calvary Rider and Focused Mind... now Ride is a class skill, max it out. and you have +4 (+Dex) on top of that. Your only three stats that matter are Wis, Dex, & Con Iif you max out your ride, you can make a free action mount/dismount most of the time at first Lvl.

Throw a Sanctuary spell on yourself before you ride into combat, then the Lion's pet halfling only does three things: Buff the party/Lion, Channel from the middle of the combat. And the crazy cool Domain power for Luck/Imagination which will make your Lion's multiple attacks a shredding machine.

"Bit of Luck (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, giving it a bit of luck. For the next round, any time the target rolls a d20, he may roll twice and take the more favorable result. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier."

Heroes want to be heroic, in a epic fight and win against epic odds, but it dose not always work out like that, I often play a crazy sorcerer who does not have the sense to keep back, it's a lot of fun but sometimes I die.

But on the other side, party's of PCs can be real stupid and overconfident, picking fights with the last forces they should pick a fight with... that happened to me the last time my group let me DM... A second level party, got a long winded background of the mountain fortress which has held back massive armies of Orcs for the last 20 years, When they meet the Sergent of the guard, accompanied by a mixed platoon of Heavy tower shield fighters and javelin-chuckers who hide behind the shield wall, does the party seek employment as scouts and smugglers as I had intended... No, of course not, they try to pick the pockets of the sergeant of the guard.

Just because these grizzled veterans employed the standard tactics of Roman legionnaires, the party thought I was being horribly unfair. But I don't think that was the real issue... as a DM if you ever achieve a total party kill, no matter how much the party deserves it, and no matter how much you want to say it ... don't say the words. "Yippi your all dead I Win"

1 person marked this as a favorite.

OK you have the major roles covered, I think the 5th should be a duel-role who can also cover being the second, front line fighter.

There are lots of good options will give you a second front line combatant but what I would do, is bring in a Halfling cleric with the Domains of Fur and Imagination. Now your a halfling has an animal companion now your halfling is riding a lion.

This would also free up your other Cleric, to do more than just heal.

In my current game, I am playing a L8 Halfling Sylvan Sorcerer riding on a Lion, which is so cool. It's so cool, I rolled up a whole party of Halflings riding Lions just to roll them up. And Alienfreak is right three feats is a whole lot to pay for a Animal Companion at -1 character level... but for the sake of role playing it should be allowed.

Now this is why it is allowed, Firstly: (busting out my best rules-lawyer voice) ... you guys keep focusing on the sentence fragment "counts as your bloodline arcana"... OK what! counts as the Bloodline arcana? That comes in the first part of the sentence, "This bloodline power" ... so it is a bloodline power which counts as ... It's a bloodline Power end of story.

And to answer the second question, Wildblood is an Archetype! It says quit clearly that I have mutated blood. But it's still my blood. And I am not the only Sylvan sorcerer, heck I bet you can find some lines of us around the planes... So Sylvan is an Archetype and a Bloodline, all at the same time.
