![]() The players guide suggests that I speak with my DM concerning appropriate patrons for my witch. Do you have any suggestions, or should I bone up on my area lore and come up with something? Something about a "Stone Spider" is mentioned, so a spider might be a good familiar? With the "Folklore Enthusiast" Background I've come up with a brief background. Magni's parents aren't originally from Willowshore, but originally hailed from a deserted village between Willowshore and Sze. A great sickness took her mother at a young age, and her father relocated to Sze when the lumber mill closed. As he had no resources to care for a young child, he turned over her upbringing to his sister and her husband in Willowshire. Magni was never a big talker, but these life changing events led her to speak even less. She could talk... just usually chose not to, so she became known as Silent Magni. Her adopted father/uncle was a reverent supporter of the Church of Pharasma, and spent much time working for the church, while her mother/aunt was a herbalist who supplied much for the village. Magni split her time between both parents, and though she revered Pharasma, organized religion wasn't her cup of tea, and she enjoyed gathering with her adopted mother, so she picked up some natural skills along the way. On one trip her aunt fell and could no longer walk, so she sent Magni to get help. The girl got lost along the way and encountered: Insert Patron : Though quite traumatized by this event it also set her along the path of discovering more about the unseen world. And now finally... finally she had been chosen for an abductee for the reenactment. She was escited... and almost talked to someone about it. Magni will take the "Foundling - Mysterious" option for her background if approved. ![]()
![]() Might I present Silent Magni then... Still some shopping and cleaning up to do, but mostly presentable. Magni is a large female Nagaji, with dark brown scales, and piercing amber eyes. She usually paints both her skin, and her chain armor with enough colors to make her more difficult to spot in the wilderness. She doesn't talk much. Magni was captured at a young age, and served aboard a sailing vessel. She ended up escaping at one of the many ports, and served as a guard for a while, but discovered that she doesn't like crowds of people that much, so she moved into the swamps of the area, and finds them more amicable to her sensibilities. She makes a living gathering rare herbs, and plants, and occasionally serving as a guide through the swamps to well paying clients. She needs some more stuff now, so it would be helpful to find a benevolent employer. ![]()

To be honest, this group is to much combat oriented. That's why I need at least two more players to move it forward. But, some games seem to be blessed, such as my Midnight game, and some - perhaps most - seem to be destined not to develop into something more. I just feel bad for players who put their time and effort into creating characters. You shouldn't feel bad. That's part of gaming...sometimes it clicks sometimes it doesn't. And besides creating characters is fun. ![]()

It's hard to get motivated to run a game with so little feedback. Hopefully we'll here from the missing villains, and get this thing rolling ![]()

Should have internet, but only later in the evening. don't want to hold up the game so post for character as needed. Also I just noticed that the post I'd made finishing up Magni's profile, seems to have been eaten somehow. Won't have access till I return on Thursday evening to find the necessary file.I know she had detect Magic however...so she'll use it to see if there is any residual or existing magic. DM
Spoiler: How much longer do we want to give the missing posters? Do we want to replace them with new players, or is this game dying? ![]()

Magni is neutral for a couple of reasons. She really has never been exposed to good in her life, and doesn't do what she does for evil's sake, simply that she's got no reason or knowledge to do otherwise. I don't intend to switch sides, but would like to have that option in case something happened to make her change. Her family and she have just always been servants of the Dark Lord, and her training the same. I'm not much on trying to max out characters using the rules. I had the image of a fearsome Legate that's stronger and more intimidating than just about anyone she meets. She will eventually try to go armorless and expose more of her muscles and other assets, when she finds a way to get her AC higher. I hate the Weapon bond feat, and think it is about the most unbalanced feat in the history of OGL, so I refuse to use it. Just a personal thing. ![]()
