Signy crosses her arms as Meleeka is brought in. "You be careful with her Captain, she's got a couple odd ideas about what it means to be strong. Odd ideas about getting revenge, lettin' your anger fester, and a lot more. She needs a guiding hand."

"All that said, the statue's back where in needs to be, and we're all done." She shakes Junior's hand right back "It was a right fine little trek. I'm sure we'll see each other again soon."

Signy shrugs at the students "Alright, well, ye going to need to find a new teacher and new boss. Good luck kids."

"But, ye know, WHY were ye following her? Did she promise ye something? Or what?" Signy crosses her arms, unsatisfied by the response from the students.

She nods to Ulvard "The Venture Captain might have some kind of plan for her. I doubt it's going to be a punishment the Society metes out, but they might want to ask her some questions about her favored fighting style. Say what ye want about the Society, but they never give up the opportunity to learn something - especially if its rare or unusual. And Meleeka's angry phoenix style is that alright."

Signy takes out a rope and passes it to Ulvard for him to put some properly tight bindings in place.

Once we get the story from these goons, do we want to give the complex another sweep for things we missed and then head out?

Contradicting Junior, Signy instead calls out to the fleeing students "Ey! If ye don't want to fight on her side any longer, we don't have any problem with ye. And we wouldn't mind a second opinion on what ye thought you'd get out of this, considering how yer hearts didn't seem to be in it."

Signy almost lowers her hand after Meleeka falls, expecting the woman's allies aren't that loyal. However, the response from the apprentices take her by surprise. "What, you want to be punished with her? We can oblige if ye insist."

She tosses another arc of blood into the air, connecting lightning between the two apprentices directly west of her. She follows by drawing out a small globe of blood and firing it at the most injured foe.

Signy sighs "We were up front and honest with ye. Shame ye couldn't be the same." and steps up. She waves her bloody hand through the air and a trail of bloody droplets fly in an arc. As they get between Meleeka and her disciple, an arc of lightning manifests between them.

Signy peers over Junior's shoulder as he flips through the book. She grunts as he gets to the part about stealing the statue from the Lodge. "Forbidden Techniques? Think they had some kind of mystical reason for forbidding them? I reckon they just wanted people to not go hurtin' themselves and gettin' angry all the time. That can't be healthy." She shrugs "Still, it doesn't seem too wrong to me. The Society's got its share of power at any cost types that might like to learn this martial art."

She looks over at Meleeka. "If you're looking to legitimize yourself, ye can't go wrong with going and apologizing for stealing this little boy-" she points at One-Who-Waits "- then inquiring with the Society about starting your own little training school under their auspices. They're pretty open minded. Accept all sorts, so long as ye follow a few simple guidelines. Ye've got to be on the straight and narrow."

Still sensing the phoenix symbol, Signy scowls as Jini explains what she spotted "What kind of weak hearted trap is this thing? Sends a little scorch yer way when you get close, then runs away to go hide somewhere else? In the stories yer traps are always old rusty scythes with enough force behind em to clean take your head off, even if they haven't been sharped in a right age." She shakes her head. "Junior, if ye want to go grab our prize, ye don't have to worry. I'll mend any burns ye end up with."

As nice as it is to pick up a treasure hoard, looting Meleeka's ancestral technique scrolls seems a little petty.

Signy approaches the largest bath and wrinkles her nose at the stagnant, murky water within. "Something magical in there. Careful." (Not sure if I can read aura without being able to see it. But I will if I can) She turns back to the room's entrance, scowling at the sound of another member of Sanvara's little crew showing up.

"Let's get the statue quick if we can and then find out what happens next?" She looks over at Junior, hoping he has a nose for statues.

"Huh." Signy crosses her arms and eyes Sanvara. The story stank, but she couldn't get a read on the woman. "Ulvard, want to stay here and watch the door so we don't get locked inside?" She steps after Junior and casts her magical senses out to get a feel for what auras might be in the room.

Detect magic, followed by read aura if the spell pings off anything visibly unusual in range.

Signy doesn't like any of this. Why go to the extent of stealing the statue, then use it for such a simple thing as training to hit a gong, and then just offer to give it up. It just doesn't seem right. She follows Ulvard, but looks back at Sanvara "Yer not coming in with us? We could use yer help finding it, at least, if ye've stored it away."

Perception +5 to sense motive, can I get a feel for if she's being honest or setting us up for a trap?

Signy's pleased to set the bowl down with at least some liquid left in it, even if Ulvard conquered the challenge with much greater ease. "Reminds me of some of the challenges the boys used to dream up. Climb the mammoth, swing from tusk rock into the pool below, and other games. Plenty of broken bones to mend after those." She grins "Yer more safety conscious here, seems like."

She leans back and watches the novices as Junior steps forward to compete against them in the third task. They seemed unusually incompetent for aspiring fighters and acrobats. She couldn't help but wonder what their intention was in all this. Were they also here to wait for Meleeka to slip up so they could steal some treasure?

"Never forgot how ye've been wronged, and then just stew on that hurt forever to be able to use yer martial art?" Signy grimaces, then looks over at the two apprentices "You two eating up what she's serving you? Ye do realize there's a whole pile of perfectly good martial arts that don't require ye to be constantly worked up into some kind of bone-headed nonsense?"

Assuming they refute her statements or are indifferent, she shrugs. "Alright lets try the Master's training exercises."

She watches, impressed, as Jini and Ulvard tackle the gong challenge. She steps up afterward. "That's going to be hard to follow up, but I'll give the soaring ashes a try."

"Playing coy, is it? Well, that'll be fine, so long as you stay with us for these challenges. Plus, these two could use something a little more interesting than stepping on coals, right?" She grins at the two shifty scoundrels.

Signy steps just barely into the room, wary of the two students and bracing for a fiery response from Sanvara. Following Ulvard's bold introduction she says "Right, we're here for the statue, not training." She continues to hold her bloody hand at the ready "Ye'd think ye shouldn't need a little statue to start yer own school. You got yer knowledge, you got yer students." She waves to the two pupils "Just hand over the statue and we'll forget about this."

Bold works just fine for Signy, better bold than a shrinking violet. In any case, she's more than used to reknitting the wounds of the young bucks of her clan after they return from their hunts. She stays to the back of the group and cuts a slit in the tip of one finger to draw a bead of blood. She paints on a series of wavy rays across her forehead, then holds her hand out and at the ready.

(I forgot to roleplay this out, but Signy would have given Ulvard a small tied bundle of mugwort, her Root Magic talisman, which has the following effect - "The first time that day the ally attempts a saving throw against a spell or haunt, they gain a +1 circumstance bonus to the roll.")

"Well, she did lose in the first round of a tournament and then went off to form a new school with herself as the Master. Bravado's not something she's lacking. Let's get in there and find her. Maybe she'll consent to settlin' this with a duel with ye Ulvard. Rest of us can find the statue."

Signy thanks the crew and captain and checks over her scrolls in advance of landing.

"Start her own school is it? Ye'd think she'd have the sense a mind not to have her first act be to steal something from another school. Not if she's looking for respect." Signy crosses her arms "Thanks for the tips."

Following Junior's comments she adds "Pirates and brigands? Can't imagine they like some stuck up Master coming around and telling them she's starting a school. Maybe we can ask them where to find her. That or she's already pulled a few apprentices in with tales of becoming big fighting hot-shots."

"Ugh, the Sea." proclaims Signy "Never been a worse invention by the gods." she joins Ulvard to talk to the Captain, listening to the impressions of the thief.

"Shame she didn't slip up and reveal she was a thief. A biggish, somewhat heavy lumpy thing sounds like the right shape and size for the lost statue though. I'll see if we can find ourselves a first hand impression of our lady." She excuses herself from the captain and goes around looking for the crew member that recognized the thief.

Looks like the VC missed my question about what is on Vedeesha. If she doesn't have any info, I assume we don't have enough time to Gather Information in town prior to leaving?

Signy nods "I'd like to know what we're going to find, before we throw ourselves into it, but-" she shrugs "-maybe it's best we move fast before this lady gets too far ahead of us."

"Captain?" Signy surveys the crime scene, looking for signs of a struggle "You get a bunch of trolls or something through here? Looks like a whole horde of them and their pets smashed and grabbed this place. Left a hell of a lot behind though."

She shows her teeth at Junior as the elf joins the group.

Hi all, I poked my head into 2E PFS right when the system came out and haven't tried it again until now. There may be some PFS specific things that I've forgotten or misunderstood, so I may end up asking some questions here. Otherwise, glad to join everyone.

A small orc woman with long auburn dreads looks out at the ship that'll be taking the group to their destination and scowls. She's dressed in a heavy leather and fur coat that does not seem suited at all to the mild weather, and no amount of fanning herself seems to be making a difference. She bears no weapons of note, but an amulet of a crescent moon rising from behind a mountain hangs from her neck.

"And I'm Signy. I rightly reckon we're in for some bleeding trials and tribulations before we even get to that island with the House. I'm all set to turn to a puddle fore we even set on the ship." She grins "And I haven't heard of ye big boy, but you'll have a chance to make your big tales soon."
