With gargoyles blocking her view of her original target and more of them closing in, Shon'dar takes a step back and picks a new target at the far end of her bowrange. I think the others can take those closer three beasts. Crunch:
Notes: GM, would you pick a gargoyle to be my studies target or would you prefer me to do it? Don't forget my allies do not offer any soft cover Round 2 action: Rolls: Longbow, attack, deadly aim, haste: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 14 - 2 + 1 = 33 for piercing, cold iron, magic: 1d8 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 4 = 13 Longbow, attack, deadly aim, haste: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 14 - 2 + 1 = 23 for piercing, cold iron, magic: 1d8 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 4 = 7 Active Status effects: -Posted with Wayfinder

that gargoyle took 26+ damage and is still flying. We may want to run from this fight, unless several of you feel confident you can dish that much out each round. -Posted with Wayfinder

yeah, this may be a tough fight. I'm concerned about how little damage Shon'dar's arrows do. :-( -Posted with Wayfinder

looks like I'll be targeting the one I marked in red. I'm not positive, but I think he's the only one with no range penalties. If he goes down the other two next to the griffon would be the next targets. -Posted with Wayfinder

Yeah I also figured that as 6th level characters we had been adventuring together for a while. -Posted with Wayfinder

I was also puzzled about why Triela was next to us when she said she was by the gargoyles. I also thought we were more like 140 feet away from them. Also, Shon'dar's assumption, in character, as well as that of most of the other party members, I imagine, is that everything in Rappun Athuk is 1) evil and 2) trying to kill you. Nothing in the lore about gargoyles implies to me that we should think these to be an exception to that general assumption (and there may indeed be exceptions). As for initiative, the GM calls for initiative whenever one or both parties have hostile intent. In this case the gargoyles must have had hostile intent, as we had not acted on our hostile intent yet. So you could have started diplomacy (a 10-round action) but the gargoyles would shred you before you finished. I also don't think there was anything wrong with your characters choice of actions, other than that from a teamwork perspective the party was strongly leaning towards a different course of action, and you forced our hand a little bit by getting close enough to trigger the gargoyles. -Posted with Wayfinder

I prefer regular initiative, but just going by posting order within blocks of allies. -Posted with Wayfinder

no, I delay until Triela and Estel have acted. Then I take the listed action. You can't technically ready more than a standard action, but it gets tricky with PbP, where you can essentially post a delayed action ahead of time -Posted with Wayfinder

Shon'dar takes a breath and waits to see what her companions do. Once they have acted she takes a step forward and lets three arrows fly at the gargoyles. As she nocks and releases them in quick succession, she says to Triela, "This-- sees why--we wanted--to shoot first. There were spells I could have cast to make this easier; distance we could have put between us to give us more time before they reach us." Crunch:
Notes: token is premptively moved on the map comments on attack types (in this case, piercing, cold iron, and magic) is inline with attack rolls Note that between Precise Shot and Solo Tactics + Volley Fire, Shon'dar is never penalized for shooting into melee and is never penalized by soft cover from friendly creatures Coordinated shot applies here since the Griffon is friendly and adjacent to Shon'dar's target Round 1 action: Rolls: Longbow, attack, deadly aim, coordinated shot, haste: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 14 - 2 + 1 + 1 = 21 for piercing, cold iron, MAGIC: 1d8 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 4 = 10 Longbow, attack, deadly aim, coordinated shot, haste: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 14 - 2 + 1 + 1 = 28 for piercing, cold iron, MAGIC: 1d8 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 4 = 7 Active Status effects: -Posted with Wayfinder

Studied Target has a range of sight Shon'dar pauses, bow held ready with a handful of arrows. "If there are no gargoyles near the entrance we choose, I will shoot no gargoyles unprovoked this day. I do not trust Gargoyles to leave us alone if we get close to them, though." I'm fine with shooting from up to 330 feet away. Studied target doesn't apply to more than one creature at a time for 2 more levels.

perception: 10 + 20 = 30 Shon'dar looks carefully around for anything that might be hidden or lurking. When Baldhus takes the key, she reacts similarly to Summer, diving away. At Summer's suggestion to shoot the gargoyles, Shon'dar says "I can do that." presuming no one else does anything else, she will use studied target on one of the gargoyles and prepare to shoot some arrows at it -Posted with Wayfinder

Although Shon'dar and Estela would probably both spend all their healing resources for the day to help them (I know Shon'dar would) I presume most of the rest of the wounded just tell us the same sort of vague things? -- If so... Shon'dar joins the others at the inn, a little tired from helping so many injured people. She tells them "The temple is full of wounded people, mostly unconscious. Some of them were in a Caravan going north. They were ambushed in the night and lost consciousness. They don't know what attacked them, but it sounded like they were not civilized humanoids." She sighs and sits down, massaging her temples for a moment before asking, "Did you learn anything?"

On my phone right now. If you go to the Ultimate Equipment page in the Paizo store they have a link to the changes in the product description. i can give you the gist though. Shon'dar says as she binds wounds and offers healing. untrained heal, take 10 for 16 to assess injuries and apply bandages, etc. If there is a "creature with fewer than half its maximum hit points" she will use mend the broken up to 9 times on said creature(s) to heal 1d4+1 hit points. intelligence vs. DC13, guidance: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 percentile: 1d100 ⇒ 65 What is your policy on taking 10? Its not relevant to me here, since Shon'dar has an INT of 10, but I'm curious for going forward--I usually prefer to take 10 on checks I think my character is likely to succeed at. -Posted with Wayfinder

If the designers had intended for familiars to advance outside of what they explicitly stated, they would have included mechanics for it. Familiars are clearly supposed to be a mechanically small part of a class--as opposed to the animal companion or Eidolon features. -Posted with Wayfinder

Yeah, I don't think familiars are supposed to advance beyond what is explicitly stated. When are we starting? -Posted with Wayfinder
- INACTIVE - (GM abandoned game)
Yeah, familiars don't get feats and level progressions and all that because that's not their role. They're not remotely like animal companions at all. GM, level 4 sounds perfectly fair to me. I'll update my sheet soon. -Posted with Wayfinder

I may have to make some tweaks based on the GM's response, but I think I've got everything lined up except mundane equipment. I might swap out the cloak of Resistance so as to take full advantage of the efficient quiver. -Posted with Wayfinder

GM Zen Archer gets Point Blank Master at level 3 as a replacement for Still Mind. Old Monk got Still Mind at level 3. Unchained Monk gets it at level 4. At what level does Shon'dar get it? Zen Archer gets Zen Archery at level 3 as a replacement for Maneuver Training. Old Monk gets Maneuver Training at level 3. Unchained Monk doesn't need Maneuver Training because of full BAB. What feature does Zen Archery replace for Shon'dar? Fast Movement? Ki Strike (Magic)? A smaller Ki Pool? -Posted with Wayfinder
