I don't appear to be on the tally sheet, though I submitted before the close?

I previously played this character, a lizardfolk ranger, in an Ironfang Invasion game that petered out during the initial scene of the opening adventure. I'd love to give it a try again, though I understand if this is too far afield to fit what you have in mind, DM.

I'm a regular poster who's been on the boards for a few years and I run a few games, so I'm not going to disappear any time soon (barring some kind of disaster - let's hope not!).

I live in Pacific Standard Time zone, and I usually update between 1 PM and 5 PM PST on weekdays, or weekend evenings.

I am more than happy to make changes to this character to accommodate. He's designed to be able to tackle the front line and help the group with wilderness survival and travel.

Woot! You go!

I've updated:

* 20 point buy
* Level 4
* 6,000 gp starting gear
* Background skills

Ready to go!

I was playing this lizardfolk in an II game that collapsed due to the DM disappearing. Would be happy to reprise.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik moves into position to draw the enemies toward him from the bridge so that the others can run past.

Move, ready action to lash out at the first enemy to get into melee range.

Readied falcata attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 (probably miss)
Falcata damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Urrr... can we use the crane to cross the ravine?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik hikes up his pack and keeps his falcata handy as he turns and runs with his allies - though he keeps himself between them and the hobgoblins, just in case.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

How many in the patrol?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"To the bridge," says Shessik after speaking for Ko'Faahin. "We must hurry now."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Where else to go?" says Shessik. "What's left? Any time, or have the invaders overrun everything and we must go?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Cannot fight if carrying him. Your choice," says Shessik.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik responds quickly to Karist's call, putting his powerful frame to use moving the debris and the fallen.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik pauses as the wolf falls, and seems to take a moment to catch his breath before he growls, "Must keep moving."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik steps up to continue to threaten the wolf and brings down his falchion in a heavy chop.

Falchion attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Falchion damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Bite attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik easily blocks the wolf's charge with his shield and brings his falchion down in a heavy blow.

[ooc]Wolf moved on map, per request![ooc]

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Just change my attack into a readied action. Regular move, then standard to ready to attack if it comes in reach.

Shessik moves closer to the wolf, waiting for it to charge him, and keeps his falcata ready to bring down in a hefty swing.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik's snout seems to crumple oddly, and you realize that it's the same expression as when a human screws up their mouth with disappointment. Then he lashes out at the wolf as it charges toward the team.

Falcata attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Falcata damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

You don't get wild empathy?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik flicks his falcata once and bugbear blood sprays the grass. "Last call," he rumbles. Then he cocks his head at Karist and says, "Unless you can talk it out of fighting, nature-speaker."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

As noted in my latest post, I am really getting mileage out of that favored enemy: Goblinoids. So I ain't complainin'. ;)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

With the bugbear coming around the corner at Thakus, Shessik wastes no time in launching himself into combat against the thick-set, sneaky goblinoid.

Falcata attack, favored enemy: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Falcata damage, favored enemy: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9

Bite attack, favored enemy: 1d20 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) - 1 + 2 = 3

I'm sure getting my money's worth from this favored enemy.

Falcata confirm crit, favored enemy: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22
Falcata extra crit damage, favored enemy: 2d8 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 8) + 6 + 4 = 19

Wow. 28 points of damage from the falcata total.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik hauls his significant load back onto his back and winces slightly (an odd sight on a lizard face) before saying in a clipped voice, "Must get out. No time left. Running out of options."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik snarls as the hobgoblin batters him, and renews his attempts to bring his foe down.

Falcata attack, favored enemy: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 2 = 20
Bite attack, favored enemy: 1d20 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) - 1 + 2 = 3

Falcata damage, favored enemy: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik hisses and eagerly returns the attack on the hobgoblin that moves against him.

Falcata attack, favored enemy: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 2 = 19
Bite, favored enemy: 1d20 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) - 1 + 2 = 6

Falcata damage, favored enemy: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik moves to defend Karist and brings his falcata to bear against the hobgoblin, nearly crashing into the goblinoid with shield out before he slashes angrily with his blade.

Falcata attack, favored enemy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik hauls up the racks of slaughtered animal meat and says, "Temple. Rescue anyone else. Then bridge." He looks to Ko'faahin. "Agree?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik hauls his stuffed pack back up on to his back and says, "Need to find the way out before the hobgoblins close it off."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

In response to Ko'faahin's unheard mental voice, Shessik drops his backpack, steps into the trough, and submerges himself in the water briefly. Then he stands, rushes into the building, and pits his massive strength against the debris.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik looks about for some cloth that he can wet and put over his face. "Need cloth for my face," he starts to say, but then he sees Ko'faahin run for the trough. He lumbers over and picks it up and hauls it back toward the door.

This probably takes me two rounds.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik shakes his head in the negative.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik pushes the hobgoblin off of his blade and then jogs to assist with smashing down the door, putting his massive shoulder to the task.

Strength check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Blotting out Ko'faahin's mental anguish, Shessik pursues the hobgoblin with murderous intent.

Falcata attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Falcata damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Free the people while Karist and I finish this," growls Shessik.

Falcata attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Falcata damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I also can't move my token.

Shessik advances to strike one of the goblins.
Falcata attack vs. favored enemy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Falcata damage vs. favored enemy: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Goona try to update tonight. Currently stuck on iPad, can't see map.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik keeps a watch for further attackers and says, "Check him for anything useful."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik pushes himself to his feet and advances into close combat with the hobgoblin.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik continues to be useless.

Falcata attack, prone: 1d20 ⇒ 6

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Undaunted by being pulled to the ground, Shessik simply continues to hack at the large wolf.

Falcata attack, prone: 1d20 ⇒ 6

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Undaunted, Shessik moves up to engage the wolf-beast (and use it for cover against the hobgoblin's arrows).

Falcata attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Falcata damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Keeping his falcata and shield raised, Shessik hauls his pack back up and looks in the direction of the local blacksmith to check for smoke or signs of fighting in that area.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik relays Ko'faahin's words:
"We thank you, sir. We will do our best to get as many people out as we can and meet you across the bridge. Blowing the bridge is a great idea.. it could allow us to escape to the forest while blocking pursuit. Where is this concoction and how do we use it?"

He stuffs as many provisions as possible into his wicker-and-leather backpack, then hauls it up onto his back again, apparently unbothered by the weight.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik keeps his weapon drawn and takes a cover position near the door. "Check. I guard."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

First!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Ko'faahin does not believe we should set the building afire, but will not stop us if we decide to do so."

Shessik keeps his falcata drawn as he focuses on Karist and replies, "Be quick."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Shessik pauses, then says, "If the enemy is too strong to defeat so that you can retake this place, yes. Deny them the resources."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Get food, get people, get out. If it is an army, they will surround town, burn it down. We must leave before more come."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Incidentally, with my masterwork backpack I have a light carrying capacity of 100 lbs., of which I am currently carrying 65. My medium load is at 101-200 lbs.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

That works fine if you are in a tabletop where you can pass a note or send a text on a device and then the other party member can mangle it, or if the players know each other well enough to have a level of trust for ad-libbing when the speaker says stuff that implies what the other character said. In this case, Ko' doesn't know me and I don't know her, I would have a hard time making guesses as to what would be all right and what would imply too much or the wrong thing; AND, in the PbP format, this means that every time Ko' wants to say something, she must ALSO wait for me to translate it. Wookie ruling it means that she can just say what she wants to say and the assumption is that Shessik said it without getting into "I'm repeating what the computer said, it's a dumb job but it's my one job and I'm going to do it!" land.

For specific scenes there may be opportunities to create that sort of implicit conversation or misunderstood dialog, and there may be times when Shessik says something that is not quite what Ko' meant because he's trying to put his own perspective on something (think about the conversation in Planescape: Torment when the Nameless One asks Dak'kon to translate for Fell, the tattoo artist, while he (Nameless) can already tell what Fell is saying, and does this to expose that there is something Dak'kon doesn't want to talk about). For day-to-day gaming, there will be plenty of times when Ko' wants to say something and we don't need to make a production out of it, and we shouldn't hold up the game just because I wasn't online at the same time! :D
