I wish I could find the article, but I remember reading on cnn.com about an 18 year old who was convicted of statutory rape for sleeping with his 17 year old girlfriend (they were caught by her parents). That wasn't even the point of the article--when he turned 20, the two of them wanted to get married, but before they could he had to convince a judge to suspend a North Carolina law which prohibits granting marriage licenses to sex offenders. In the end they got married, but he is still required to register as a convicted sex offender whenever they move.

A friend of mine is in a similar situation, except he was 17 and she was 16. So even though he is now in hid mid-thirties and married with two kids, he's still a registered sex offender (which is so much fun when one has small children) and has had a nightmarish time getting a job. He often has to work off the books and has never been able to get hired in the field he studied. All for having consentual sex with his girlfriend when they were in high school. The system here is so ridiculously broken.
In Alaska the city actually puts a sign up in the neighborhood where a registered sex offender has moved. You log on to the site and it gives you his or her mugshot, name and address, but there's nothing about the crime or time it occurred. Thanks to a weird marriage of privacy laws and child protection, I only know that he's convicted and at that address. With nothing else to go on, I naturally assume he must be a vile pedophile, and if I see kids coming out of his house, do I call the cops?

Something like this happened to my mother-in-law's husband. He is on the registry and my sister-in-law and her husband were spending the night at their apartment. Someoen called the cops and told him that my mother-in-law's husband was holding a girl hostage in the house to abuse and that they needed to go rescue her. Luckly the officer who showed up was the kind who actually listens first and judges second, or it could have ended badly.

On the other hand, we have a registered offender living on our block. He was a teacher at the local high school and was convicted of having sex with some of his students. Now every couple of monthes another pretty young blonde who may or may not be legal shows up, lives with him for a while, and then moves on for the next girl to take her place. My other neighbors don't see anything wrong with what he did, since it was consenual. I've decided that it's because one of the other neighbors was sixteen when she got pregnant the first time and the father of her child was in his thirties. The moment it becomes wrong for the guy in our neighborhood to do what he did is the moment she has to admit that what happened to her was wrong.

I started this thread because in the last month I found myself not wanting to come and read the paizo boards anymore, because of all the politics. I worried others may have been doing the same.

See this is what I don't understand. Even if there is a seperate Politics section, political discussion will still be here. If you find yourself not wanting to come to the Paizo boards at all because of the political discussion in one section, how is that going to change with a seperate politics board. As I said the discussion will still be here.

On a more serious note, I wonder how much of the anti-American sentiment is actually based on differences we have and how much is based on a percieved U.S. hatred of their country? I have met many people here in the states that hate the French, or the Germans, or the Canadians because they think that they hate us. I wonder if the same is true in other countries and their feelings towards the United States?

Certainly complex. Kinda like one of those self-fulfilling prophecies.

Well, I'm willing to do my part to reverse this. Pls send all of the good-looking Canadian, French, Dutch, and Swedish women to the US and I'll do my best to demonstrate my capacity for love. Of course I may need some Viagra. ;)

Next I'll have to convince the wife that my country needs me.

Any volunteers to handle the other countries, or the men?

If my country needs me, than I will voluteer to do my part to change the attitudes of Asian women everywhere.

Yes, even the poodle cane see that 4th edition is THE ONE TRUE D&D. Let us trample down the 3.5 heathans and bring light, joy, and peace to the world. And once Sebastion finishes the Bella Serra conversion for 4th edition, we will add ponies to the list as well. ;p

Ok, so I finally get CotCT #12 and SD read through them once already and going through a second time right now.

So, as I am reading I see that Earthfall was caused by an Aboleth weapon that pulled a star down and basically nuked the Azlanti.

Then I remember that Zon-Kuthon agree to be bound into the Plane of Shadow for as long as the sun hung in the sky.

So the Aboleth apocolypse freed Zon-Kuthon. Could it be that the entity that possessed Dou-Bral and became Zon-Kuthon could be an immense aboleth or something.

It's the little details like this that make my brain kick into overdrive. I may never know if I am even close on this but it feels right and I believe it will be how my Golarian is ran.

Does anyone else see this like I do?

No abolith would ever demean itself by taking such a crude and useless form. Your "god" sold himself to the abolith in exchange for his freedom and now does our bidding to further our goals on Golarin, goals your feeble minds could never comprehend.

I am also a fan of TROS. I have tried a couple of time to get a game going, but must people get hung up on the combat and magic systems. The players around here also struggled with the idea that you only get experience for advancing your own personal goals and agendas. They have grown too used to getting xp for killing monsters.
