That is a brilliant idea! And I love the Wild Effigy archetype, you could also flavor a gargoyle-themed shifter with it.
Hello again, everyone! Next on my list of "what ifs" is the Swarm shifter, a bizarre archetype for the base Shifter that lets you "shift" into a large swarm. At level 1. And it's not a polymorph effect. Let's elaborate on this a little The only thing that really changes about your character at level at level 1, is that you're affected as a modified version of enlarge person and some natural armor. What this tells me is that you're still a humanoid....just made of bugs, beetles, rats...and that baffles me. Lets discuss! I can see this working with Ratfolk swarming trait with the appropriate feats, you can share the space of at least 4 different party members, if not more, and benefit from your swarming trait and teamwork feats. Kobold style can let your swarm self dog pile an enemy. If I were a generous GM, I would allow the use of the Gruesome Shapechanger feat with the Vermin Aspect. Does it make sense rule wise? No. Would it be awesome for your character to fall to literal pieces onto the floor while a swarm bursts from your own pile of viscera? YES. Personally, I'd run it as an Android, my nanites concealing into a literal swarm, able to attack and dismantle my enemies into component pieces, making heavy use of Harvest Parts and Grisly Ornaments feats to essentially become a living 3-D printer!
This post flew off the rails in the best possible way! I never even thought to make the possessed hand a tumor familiar as well. It could even take the Die For Your Master feat, giving it even more tank potential. I was pretty attached to the idea of having them Medium, but this just a concept I slapped together, feel free to modify it how you see fit!
Thank you for clarifying, that was what I was trying to get at. Also, that thread is very inspiring! Skin send is a great extract for Alchemist, especially with infusion. I was also thinking Vomit Swarm and Vomit Twin, both of which flavored to look like tumorous amalgamations of various kinds. Imagine a skittering swarm of goblin teeth, fingers and eyes coming at you!

What a flavorful feat! I'll definitely keep it in mind. And Oversized Goblins are a subtype of Goblins that change their ability bonus and size, so you are indeed correct, you read my mind with the melee bit.
I'm glad you spotted that Fox Soul! Actually, if you read the feat for Hands Detatchment, it says you CAN opt to take it as your familiar. It already lists the abilities it gains and has before it even makes any mention of making it become your actual familiar, just use the statistics for a Crawling Hand, give or take a couple type changes and abilities. Thank you for the feedback guys! I often make alot of theorycrafts that I tell myself I'm gonna play, and then never do, so I've opted to start posting them so at least SOMEONE can get some enjoyment out of them.
Says it all in the title! I had a rough idea for a flavorful, if a touch creepy, Goblin Alchemist. He will be an oversized, mutant Goblin. He boasts to all his tribe mates "I'm so tough, I ate my brother before we were born!" Little did he know the two were twins and they actually fused! He cant quite get the nagging voices out of his head, and the constant gibbering and bickering drove his tribe mates mad, and he was thrown to the wild. Shanks' parasitic twin Giblit was always plotting and learning, twisting their corrupted body to suit his purposes. Shanks was just happy to be big, tough and feared. This brawny little freak will be an Alchemist combo of Preservationist/Vivisectionist.
I'm open to suggestions! Im honestly not sure if this is a character I'd ever actually play, so feel free to use him for your campaigns if it tickles your fancy. Let me know your thoughts and opinions!!
I love the potential for flavor and role play as well, by leaving your adaptations intentionally vague aside from crunch. Are you an Android with specialized nanites that can alter your form at Will? Or a fleshwarp experiment gone horribly right, able to manifest mutated tendrils and creepy quills. It looks like it could be a lot of fun, without sacrificing any power.
I appreciate the input! I was thinking of flavoring my Nagaji as a proud hunter type (think Trandoshans from star wars) relying on his own wits and instinct to survive. I was also going to give him a frill like the dilophosaurus (I couldn't resist!) Any ideas for weapons, armor or traits for this kinda guy? I want emphasis on using his venoms, maybe grappling. I hope this doesn't get shunted to the advice section, haha.
This'll be my second time posting a general option about an archetype, but this one especially caught my eye. I love the emphasis on venoms, and the fact that they're pretty powerful (and they're combat feats, so fighter feats galor) and versatile is pretty neat. If you're wondering, it's a part of the potions and poisons supplement, which I won't bother linking cause I botched it last time. I guess,if you know what I'm talking about, what's your opinion? And how would you flavor a snake man around it?
I just wanted everyone's opinion on this interesting racial archetype for the Ghorans. If you're wondering, it's a part of the Ultimate Wilderness source. Let's discuss! http://www.d20pfsrd.com/occult-adventures/occult-classes/mesmerist/archetyp es/paizo-llc-mesmerist-archetypes/aromaphile-mesmerist-archetype/
I'll certainly make an attempt, but I don't have much to compare with on the Create a New Race page. I thought about pushing it into a feat, either forcing the character wanting it to take it at level 1, or later. Would it be wise to make the Temporary Graft feat require 5 ranks of Heal, since it can provide Fly in the right circumstances?
Here's a recent playable race I've been working on recently, keep in mind, this is a pretty rough draft and i'm mostly looking for input and critique. If anyone would like to play-test this at any time, i wholeheartedly approve and ask only that you submit feedback on your experience so I can continue to work on this literal and figurative Frankenstein project. I do have plans in the future to add more feats, race specific gear, archetypes, and more. Let me know what you think! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EKaOM9w_AA0yrnA4WrG1tAwllAVcQEkSvAwm-Y7 EyeE/edit?usp=sharing
I was steering more towards it an option for the character to explore other role-play options, maybe form a symbiotic bond with another party member, but if their goals and alignments come in conflict they enter a kind of power struggle for control. Also, it can be a nice buff to your party martial character that stays relivant in later levels. So for role-play purposes mostly, yes.
Initial disclaimers I feel I should put. 1. This is wholeheartedly torn directly from Marvel's Symbiotes, I just wanted to make them into a playable race for Pathfinder. So all rights go to them, etc. etc. I have no intention of ever trying to monetize this, that'd be stupid in and of itself.
3. I have never playtested this, and have no clue if its even remotely balanced. With all that said, if you're still with me, greetings!! Ever wanted to play as a Symbiote from the Marvel Universe, but don't want it to be your whole class, your whole shtick? Well I've got some (hopefully) great news for you! Presenting.... file:///C:/Users/Trevor/appdata/local/micros~1/windows/inetca~1/content.mso /wordwebpagepreview/klyntar.htm By all means, tear this pet project assunder! I'm looking for any kinds of input, good or woefully bad. Is it fun? Is it neat? Is it a piece of s***? Let me know!!
I think you guys might be slamming the Metamorph a bit hard.Monstrous physique can net you 4+ natural attacks alone, combined with feral mutagen with a form that lacks claws or bite and even better, plus the added stats mutagens bring to the table. Don't forget discoveries. Bonuses to stealth, fast healing lite, mummification and preserve organs. Abd, people may have missed, their mutagen is an extraordinary ability, it can't be dispelled.
