Dawn is breaking as the sun crests over a thick forest canopy. It is a cool, crisp morning and the song of birds is loud in the nearby trees as the population of Purple Falls Trading Post rouses to wakeful activity.

Bartholomew breaths out a long sigh of relief at the sight of the familiar trade town and another trip that saw no bloodshed as his caravan trek comes to a close. It is rather chilly this morning and the breeze makes it even more so. Though it is only just dawn, Bartholomew is tempted by the warm hearth, filling food, and familiar comfort of the Foam Fresh tavern.

Lhain spends this morning as he has spent most mornings in the last month, walking through the doors of the Foam Fresh tavern the moment they open and sitting down for a good large breakfast. He notices a rare occurrence; someone else is up just as early and is already seated at a nearby table sorting through papers and nibbling at what’s left of what looks to have been biscuits and gravy with rabbit.

Corvus was up before the sun this morning. He has been on the hunt for some weeks trying to find any clue where his prey may have run off to hide. An upstart gang in Purple Falls seemed to be his best course; so here sits Corvus, in Purple Falls pouring over local maps and his own notes, racking his brain for any idea of where Petarin might be.

Does the extra arrow from the Manyshot feat count as a consecutive attack for the purposes of determining additional damage from Hammer the Gap?

Manyshot (Combat)

You can fire multiple arrows at a single target.

Prerequisites: Dex 17, Point-Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, base attack bonus +6.

Benefit: When making a full-attack action with a bow, your first attack fires two arrows. If the attack hits, both arrows hit. Apply precision-based damage (such as sneak attack) and critical hit damage only once for this attack. Damage bonuses from using a composite bow with a high Strength bonus apply to each arrow, as do other damage bonuses, such as a ranger's favored enemy bonus. Damage reduction and resistances apply separately to each arrow.

You repeatedly strike the same location, causing increasing amounts of damage.

Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +6.

Benefit: When you take a full-attack action, each consecutive hit against the same opponent deals extra damage equal to the number of previous consecutive hits you have made against that opponent this turn. This damage is multiplied on a critical hit.

I think it does count. The only thing Manyshot disallows for the additional arrow is Precision damage. Bonus damage is allowed for the additional attack. The damage from Hammer the Gap seems to fall under Bonus damage not Precision damage based on the fact that it is multiplied on a critical hit.

So I have been looking at the Dimensional Assault - Dervish feat tree and came up with a strange corner case, possibly two.

1. If the target you wish to attack with one of your Dimensional Dervish attacks is flying, is it possible to teleport to an adjacent aerial square, attack the flying target, and continue with your teleportation? Of course assuming you have enough movement to cover that much distance.

If the answer to that question is yes. Is it possible then to teleport to multiple squares adjacent to that flying target and make multiple attacks against it? Again, with enough movement to cover the distance.

I know that sounds a little Dragon Ball Z-ish (I prefer to think of Nightcrawler from the X-Men movies) but it seems like it should be possible with the nature of the spell and that feat combination. You are teleporting and attacking so quickly that you can flank with yourself so I don't see why it wouldn't work unless a designer can say "No, that's not how it's supposed to work."

2. If you are effectively flanking with yourself using the Dimensional Dervish feats, can you count as both partners with the cooperative flanking feats? If I have the Precise Strike Cooperative Feat and teleport from side to side against an opponent, I know I can flank with myself (the feat says so), but does that also mean I gain the benefits of the cooperative feat. After all, the person I am flanking with (myself) does in fact have that feat, so it seems like that would be the case.

....

I know some people will probably get on this thread and tell me that is over powered, or not in RAI, or that the rule's don't support it in some way. I am open to Rule based arguments or solid logic. But I am really looking for designer input, whether it confirms my opinion or tells me I am way off.

So many of the Ranger Archetypes replace the Camouflage ability gained at level 12. Now I have my own view of how Camouflage and HiPS work in conjunction for the Ranger and according to that view I have an idea of how HiPS would work for the Ranger without the presence of Camouflage but I am hopping to get some official input on how this would work.

I have seen a partial answer dedicated to one Ranger Archetype located in the link below.

Camouflage with the Infiltrator Archetype.

This partial explanation doesn't explain how some of the other Archetypes will affect Camouflage and how HiPS works on its own without Camouflage.

If you don't have time to answer this question as a whole than I am primarily asking about the new Fetchling Ranger Archetype and how Camouflage and HiPS work with that class as Camouflage is traded for Darksight.

.....

How I think this would work. In the Assassin and Shadowdancer versions of the ability HiPS does two things: 1. It negates the need for cover/concealment and 2. It allows Stealth even when being observed. For the Ranger these two things are separated between Camouflage and HiPS. My view was that HiPS would still work in the Favored Terrains but the Ranger would still require Cover/Concealment. However the Infiltrator explanation above made me unsure of that view.

I hope you are able to answer this for me. Thank you in advance if so.

I think there was a change made to the Vanish spell in PRD but I can't find any reference to it in the message boards or in errata.

I remember seeing Vanish as a Swift action spell in PRD. I also remember seeing references to Vanish being a Swift action on the message boards. I specifically remember a whole discussion about whether or not Vanish should be allowed to be used in Item Creation due to it being a Swift action Invisibility and overshadowing the already existing Ring of Invisibility.

I read a bit through a thread discussing the Ninja's Vanishing Trick and saw references to the Vanish spell; so I looked it up again in the PRD. To my surprise the action listed is a Standard action.

Does anyone know if/why/when this was changed? Or am I just remembering wrong and it was always listed as a Standard action in the PRD.

I'm going to try to keep this question alive for a little while at least. No one else is curious about this? If you are, hit the FAQ button. And again, any official input would be appreciated.

This has been bothering me, I will keep up with a thread and then after it has been dormant for a while it's like it disappears. In particular I am talking about a couple threads in the rules questions section. They don’t even appear if you go down the list of threads in Rules Questions and if you use the search feature one of them comes up and the other I have not been able to find anywhere, luckily I still had a post I put on the thread in my profile and linked to it from there. Upon having this trouble I started saving all the threads I was looking at in my Favorites on the web-browser. I was hoping there was some better way of keeping track of these things.

Is there a way of saving ALL the posts you do in your profile and organizing them or are you just stuck with Recent Posts? For instance organizing all posts under the headings of which thread you posted them in and further organize those threads under which forum they were in. I really would like to keep track of all the posts that I make even if they are old and in threads that have magically disappeared from the forums.

The other question I have is about subscribing to recent posts on a thread or by a person. Where do these new posts go that you can keep track of them after you subscribe or are you notified in some way of the new post? Is there a way to keep that organized? Or does it just end up as a jumbled list like the Recent Posts part of your profile? I haven’t subscribed to any new posts on any threads so I don’t know exactly what it does, that might be the answer to my first question.

Anyone with some insight on this, I would appreciate any information. Thank you.

My post is regarding the Iron Bands of Binding, a relatively powerful 1/day item in the 3.5 rules. I am new to Pathfinder but have been playing 3.5 for as long as it has been around. I don't have the Pathfinder RPG Core Rule Book and am going off the Pathfinder RPG Reference Document description of the item (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ under magic items/wondrous items/iron bands of binding). It seems that, beside its name, this item has undergone one other important change. In addition to a DC 30 strength check, and a DC 30 Escape Artist check, a DC 30 "combat maneuvers check" will also free you from the item. If I understand the new CM system right this would work off of a character's CMD which is 10 + BAB + STR mod + DEX mod + SSM. If I am right so far, however, there is no check to be made. Isn’t CMD a static # like AC, so what is a "combat maneuver check"? Would it instead add your CMB (BAB + STR mod + SSM) but it doesn’t seem like that would fit, it's not an attack.

The second part of this post may render the first irrelevant. Is the inclusion of the "combat maneuver check" legitimate in this item's description? It doesn't make sense to me that it would be. I say this for several reasons:

1) Lower on the page there is a Rope of Entanglement which does virtually the same thing but with lower DC's of only 20. This item does not include anything about a "combat maneuver check".

2) If it functioned off of CMB, why have both a STR check DC 30 and a CMB check DC 30? No one would use only a STR check when they could add their STR, BAB, and any possible size modifier to the same check.

3) If it functioned off of CMD, the item becomes almost entirely useless by mid to high levels (which would make sense for some weaker items but this is a 26,000gp item, a character wouldn’t be expected to have this before mid to high levels of play). A fighter of 15th lvl would have a CMD of 10 + BAB 15 + STR mod (which would probably be considerably high I would say at least a +5) + DEX mod (maybe not so high but even a +1 would help) + SSM = 30 at a minimum (probably more) which means they would have no effort to get free. A STR check alone would make this very difficult to escape but not impossible, however, a CMD check makes the item useless against any fighter of mid to high lvl. Even a wizard of 15 lvl would have a CMD of at least +7 but could be higher if they have a STR mod, DEX mod, or SSM. So, if this is the case your 26,000gp, one shot per day item is relatively easy to get around, if not completely useless.

Ultimately I don't think it makes sense and would like to know firstly if this is a legitimate rule and not a typo and secondly if it is legitimate, how is the "combat maneuver check" to be applied?

Thank you in advance.
