Severn also trades his crossbow for a melee weapon but instead of his greatsword, he draws a dagger. It would be very difficult to use his sword if one of the beast's tentacles were wrapped around him so he opts for the smaller weapon and prepares to strike if one of them should burst out of the ground within his range.

Well aware that he may be revealing his position to the burrowing creature, Severn elects to risk it and check on the guards to see if they can be saved from death. Stowing his crossbow and drawing his dagger, the most suitable he has for close combat, he kneels and checks the man adjacent to him for signs of life. Then moves to the south to check the next closest fallen man.

"Those children wouldn't have stood a chance against this abomination."

Move to M15 so I can reach both guards. If only one is alive, I cast cure light wounds on him. If both guards are alive, I will channel. If both are dead, that's no fun.

Feeling slightly frustrated that he guards do not heed Bubo's warning and have foolishly engaged the toothy maw emerging from the ground directly, Severn is not surprised when one of them succumbs to its attacks.

"Step back from it and beware its tentacles. Use a ranged weapon if you have one!" he bellows at the pair remaining on their feet as he moves into a position where Lythertida's blessing will affect the most men. He presents his holy symbol and mutters a short prayer. Healing energy issues forth in a 20' radius around him. For the briefest moment, there is respite from the oppressive desert heat as a cool breeze washes over his allies, stitching their wounds.

Move 20' to M14, Standard action to channel. selective channeling to exclude the creature and up to 2 of its tentacles as needed if their HP are tracked separately

Rather than jostle for position with Bubo and the guard, Severn decides to circle around the stand of jagged rocks to the southeast. As he slips past he finds that he has a straight shot at the creature amidst the guards.

I go after the creature. If there is nothing to attack within reach on my turn I will spend a turn to switch to my crossbow instead, move equivalent to sheath and move equivalent to draw

While under the effect of the truth spell, there is fortunately no chance that Severn's shame, the hot flush that blooms quickly on his cheek, will be misinterpreted.

"No," he responds emphatically and this answer is true but it is also true that he is responsible for the disappearance of other children. His ravaged leg throbs as the questioning continues.

Severn steps up to the profane altar and attempts to kick it over, hoping to desecrate it enough to cause the foul energy that attracted the small congregation of undead in the first place to dissipate. Although he is untrained in the specific details or dogma of his religion, the carefully arranged heap of bones and rocks makes his skin crawl.

Moving diagonally 15' SE will put me between Hank and 1 skeleton, 1 square N of the dense underbrush. I provoke all kinds of AoO for movement, I was just pointing out that the skellie I end up beside needs combat reflexes to take a second AoO when I cast.

I see now, dang typos. It should say skeletons not skeleton in that first OOC sentence. I also dropped an entire word from the second OOC sentence. Ugh. Posting on a smartphone FTL

Seeing as how he is not having much luck attacking the skeletons, Severn decides to concentrate on supporting the others that are. He moves to Erlic's side and, keeping an eye on the nearby skeleton that will menace him while he casts, ministers to the Dwarf's wounds with his divine power.

Having noted the fact that bludgeoning weapons are much more effective against the animated skeletons, he draws his morningstar and swings at a nearby enemy.

This is what I have recorded: 14 - 9 (ghoul attack) + 1 (first channel) + 4 (second channel) - 1 (skeleton AoO) = 9 HP. I double checked but it's still very possible that I missed a successful strike somewhere. Lemme know if I did please, my HP total will influence my actions next round.

I checked the rules now that I'm home from work. Also looked at the map for the first time. So yeah, it is a move action to draw or sheathe a weapon. Drawing a weapon does not provoke an AoO but sheathing does which means I provoked from 4 skeletons. Ugh. Hopefully I will be around to draw my morningstar next round.

Taking a deep breath, Severn reaches inward to find the part of his soul untainted by his upbringing, the potential that earned him his second opportunity to live. The foul odour of corruption hits Severn like a wall, stopping him is tracks and sending his stomach roiling as the undead claw and scratch at him ineffectually. Retching but able to hold onto his lunch somehow, the oracle slashes at the creature that had dropped the disembodied arm it was munching on.

Severn, who had been leaned up against one of the plushly papered walls of the parlour, draws himself to his full height and lurches toward the centre of the room. The militiamen file past wordlessly, each man refusing to meet his eyes as the pass by on their way out the door.

"I will lend my sword to the cause." he says to those few remaining gathered around Fitzsimmons and his retinue.

I'd like to submit this character with the intention of multiclassing into paladin starting at level 5 but I want to ensure the traits are ok before I put him in the completed character list. I'm also going to make a stat block for his profile rather than having a link to the mythweavers character sheet but I'm at work ATM. I will finalize everything this evening.

"Whurly, there's still one that I can't reach!" Severn calls to his team mate as he engages the rat within range. He saw the Dwarf trundle on up the aisle so is hoping the warrior will circle around behind.

Again, Severn manages to escape injury from the pile of rats scatching and biting at him. He swings at the rat menacing Tazennin to his right.

Stepping forward, armour and equipment clinking softly in time with his uneven gait, Severn moves into the room. "Thanks for the lights Oberst, now I can get in there. I'll find the vermin. Wait for me here." Greatsword levelled at the ready, he proceeds down the crowded aisle before him.

I'll end movement in N14. Whurly I'd be grateful if you joined me in the room when you appear. Can we flush the rats out together while the ranged guys wait to shoot stuff we lead to them?

Fixed a few errors on my character sheet. Working for Andoran via a connection to the Eagle Knights sounds just great!


As in Andoran native instead of from Cheliax? It's kind of important that he grew up a dick and had the life altering encounter with Lythertida so as long as that still fits somehow, I am in.


I have no problem posting at least once a day and I'm on Mountain Standard Time. Next Saturday sounds fine for starting. BBIAB with 2 more levels.


This looks really cool. If I don't get into the other game I've submitted this guy to, I would like to put forth this character for consideration. He's pretty much ready to go although I might switch up his traits since you are allowing enough starting gold that I don't need to take Rich Parents and Heirloom Weapon. I could stick with those if you prefer, they fit well with his story. Oh and he's only a 15pt buy so the stats would change a touch.


A couple of halfling slaves helped him infiltrate his family home and abscond with the heirloom sword (the Lythertida told him he had to get) and the 900gp I spent on gear. In return he brought them out of Egorian with him and escorted them to freedom. Not just out of the city but all the way through the Aspodell mountains to Andoran, partially because he had no better place to go anyway but also in the spirit of the promise to his new god. This lead him to a connection to the Eagle Knights.

Silver Crusade prolly fits best if that would work for you. Lion Blades and Eagle Knights kind of seem to fit but are very nation oriented.
