I apologize for being absent the past 2.5 weeks, first the work convention, then inundated with family and friends Thanksgiving week, and then there was this week, let's just say it was one of those weeks. I'd like to join back in, but would understand if my protracted absence is problematic. Again, I apologize and would hope you can let me join in the fun again.

Serisa agrees as well, "I had not intended to displease her."

She looks at the rat folk and thinks, "I wonder if this is a setup to get back into good graces? Better keep an eye out for betrayal."

Serisa growls at the pain and the feeling of stinging, burning poison coursing into her veins. She rallies against the pain and strikes at the spider with her stone-like fists.

Punch, Flurry: 1d20 + 5 - 3 ⇒ (20) + 5 - 3 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 + 1 acid
Punch, Flurry: 1d20 + 5 - 3 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 3 = 9

Serisa flexes her hands and the red acid begins to drip from them. She adopts a stance waiting for it to come to her.

She'll wait for it to close and then flurry of blows it.
Fist, Flurry: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 2 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 + 1 acid

Serisa grins at the mention of more victims, she'll nod after Spikey says, "Ready."

It's been a crazy couple of days - sorry for not being on since Saturday. I'll catch up today.

Serisa looks down in outrage at the nick and let's go with a flurry of blows.

Fist, Blessed Fist, Flurry: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 - 2 = 14

I'm assuming we don't start standing right next to it, so I don't need to do a concentration check to cast a spell.

Serisa looks in disgust at the vile creature and prays, "Bring me your aid Gorum so I may destroy this undead travesty of life."

She casts Blessed Fist. The Good attribute doesn't really affect things, but it seems thematically appropriate :D

Serisa nods and her hands begin to ooze red acid, "I'm ready."

I'm back from my vacation - I'll catch up on the main thread shortly.

I'm flying to London Sunday and Monday - I'll be on different hours while I'm there and on maybe once a day for a week.

Serisa says, "Thank you, your help was greatly appreciated."

Gesturing to the bath, "Please join me, it feels wonderful after the fight to loosen up all of that tension."

Tipping her head back against the side of the pool, she closes her eyes and answers, "The community where I was born was raided when I was younger and most were slaughtered. I was one of the "lucky" ones and taken prisoner. The cult that stole me away made me fight in the arena."

She sighs, "I was beaten badly over and over again. I was never really trained to fight. Then, one day I was begging whatever gods would hear me to end the torment. I wanted to die. Instead, Gorum answered and I was filled with his power and I killed my opponent, similar to what happened today."

Chuckling a bit, "Then I became the problem fighter. I won battle after battle, slaughtering my opponents despite indications to spare them. The long torment of them constantly beating me senseless to where I could barely walk at times was over and I was paying them back."

"That wasn't very good for business. Eventually they tired enough of me they decided to sell me to these drow. Their thought was the drow would be able to break me and I'd receive punishment for my sins. The sin of being bad for business."

"How about yourself?"

Serisa eases her stony skin into the caldarium, enjoying the stark heat penetrating deeply into her muscles and temporarily forgets that it all happens again tomorrow.

I take it that we've never been through these gates before? Only other ones that lead to where the gladiators are housed.

Serisa looks around taking it all in, the sight of so much wealth is new to her and she's only heard of the sun before, but never seen it depicted.

When the guards come over, she'll smile and turn around, "No weapons. No armor. No clothes."

The picture I linked to shows that she has crystalline outcroppings in all of the locations necessary to make her rated G so that she doesn't need clothing.

When the drow high muckity muck starts to speak, she will give the proper bow appropriate to the woman's station, Just keep them happy so they don't punish you by risking your life more.

Serisa feels the rage and energy drain from her and she looks around the battlefield, slightly miffed there are no more enemies. She wanders over to where the others are and compliments everyone, "Excellent work everyone! I guess we live to fight another day."

She looks over to where the slaves are removing the bodies, "It beats the alternatives."

Posting my action now, I'm going to be busy all day tomorrow and I don't want to hold up everyone waiting on me.

Serisa laughs as she deflects the blow with her arm and looks dismissively into the monk's eyes. Feeling the drum beat and the rage infuse her, she thrusts her fists into the air and ululates a primal scream. She brings her fists down one then the other on top of the monk's head. Nothing subtle or elegant, just ugly brute force.

Serisa nods to both of the others, "Excellent suggestions. Navarra may be the one to go after second last - she's mostly defensive and not fighting her one on one would negate one of her best advantages."

As the grand poo-bah lady finishes her speech and the combat is about to start, Serisa prays, "Let my fists be blessed with your power and glory," followed by, "With your favor I will defeat my enemies." All those years of catholic school really pay off for playing cleric types.

She turns to her allies, "Gavin last obviously. We should double team them as we close to hopefully take out one or two of them and skew the odds to our favor. And go in a line so that they can't slip through or around us and attack one of our backs. Any objections? Any preferences on who you line up against?

"If they just charge us, we should hold our ground and I can break up the ground around us to slow them down and halt their momentum." she adds on further consideration.

Blessed Fist (+1/+1 enhancement and Good) and Divine Favor (+1/+1 luck). During combat, unless there's a better use for her swift action she will tend to use Elemental Strike to give her +1 acid damage. Just giving basic heads up here. +7, 1d6+6+1 acid (Good)

Serisa smiles, feeling the power of her god flow through her. "Gorum help me conquer these foes in your name and deliver their souls to their final resting place by the grace of your hands."

She drops her hands and lets the cestus fall to the ground. She smiles a bit more cruelly as her hands begin to ooze dark red liquid. When drips of the liquid fall onto the dust they sizzle and smoke. She punches her fists together in front of her and the hard crystalline outgrowths on her knuckles striking each other send a high pitched ting that carries over the din.

Have we ever seen these gladiators in combat? Are any of them chargers? Spellcasters? Or anything else we can plan around? I'd like to set up an assigned strategy more sophisticated than BFA :D I know they are the other party and I could go look at their sheets, but I'd like an indication as to how well we know their fighting abilities/techniques.

Also, do we have a time estimate for when things will occur? My buff spells last 1 minute and I'd prefer to not cast them now only to have the high muckity-muck drow lady give a protracted speech and have them all wear off.

BTW, she has the Elementral Strike feat, which is where the acid is coming from.

100% on board with what people are saying. I don't care about the violence, though I suppose I could discover that some things are past my comfort zone. In which case, I'll mention it. I'm also all right with implied consensual sex (but am not interested in RPing or reading a detailed scene).

Serisa: Am also a biologist! I study disease ecology. What do you do?

Molecular biology specializing in computational biology (gives my age right there) and immunology. I took the siren song lure of money on the internet some years ago and applied my supercomputing knowledge to building big web systems. It pays better :D

Now, I'm principal architect at a big-ish internet company.

Violence is fine - I'd prefer not to have sexual violence or sexual menace please - I get enough of that in real life. In a world where there are no differences between the strength level of men and women, it makes a lot less sense than in our world.

But pour on the regular violence :D

Suggestive themes don't bother me - like above, I'd prefer consensual.

Granted, I would like to see what happens when some dude gets a face full of STR 18 Sacred Fist for trying something :D
