The wording of some of the feats (I'll use Snake Style as the example, because that's what my character has) doesn't specifically state that the skill bonus doesn't apply when not in the style.
"You gain a +2 bonus on Sense Motive checks, and you can deal piercing damage with your unarmed strikes. While using the Snake Style feat, when an opponent targets you with a melee or ranged attack, you can spend an immediate action to make a Sense Motive check. You can use the result as your AC or touch AC against that attack. You must be aware of the attack and not flat-footed." I wouldn't think you would get that bonus all the time, but I don't have ultimate combat on hand at the moment to research this further. Am I missing out on a permanent sense motive bonus?

That's what I thought. Guess my familiar is just going to suck at high levels. Thanks.

When I take a prestige class (in my case Harrower) that grants caster levels to my base class (Witch for me) that grants a familiar, does my familiar continue to improve, or does it stop with my witch levels? I can't find anything in any of the books that says if they do or don't.

Thank you guys for your input.

Today, our GM attacked us with a giant crab who makes grab attacks. He thinks that when it makes multiple grab attacks, it can grab one character multiple times. So our barbarian was "grabbed twice" by this thing, and had to make two checks to escape. I said that was ridiculous. Please tell me I'm not wrong in thinking there is no such thing as this "double grab" this crab was doing.
