Yeah, it’s not a pre-buff but it’s often Seren’s best choice of action. And asking for it is a free action.

Sadly, Saito doesn't have much in terms in buffs at level 1. Main buff is increase my weapon to a +1, but I can do that as a swift.

Do you have the problem of having to roll well on a bunch of d20s to get off your best attack? If so, Seren can give you a bit of luck when you ask for it.

And Seren will cast Protection from Evil on Elena.

So, Seren would have urged Koeuss to use the scroll because we can hear Janira.

Sorry, GM. I was going to use the wand to heal Elena after that fight. I was also going to check that Koeuss had used the scroll on Stiggur and do a quick audit of the objects from Janira's bag.

With the ring, she furrows her brow, "Sorry, I - I don't know what this does, only that it is enchanted."

You need to either use read magic or spellcraft to decipher the scroll (DC20+spell lvl). If you have the spell on your list, be the right type (arcane/divine version) and have the ability score required you can cast it automatically.

You have read magic memorised so you can cast that, no need for the spellcraft check.
You don't have to do this when you cast the spell. You just do it the first time you look over the scroll.

In Pathfinder, the specific always overrides the general.

The PRD is showing the general rule; the PFS guide is showing a specific rule for PFS.

Mage armor is on the psychic spell list: Koeuss can cast it.

Potions, Scrolls, and Wands All potions, scrolls, wands, and other consumables are made by clerics, druids, or wizards in Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild play. The only exceptions to this are spells that are not on the cleric, druid, or sorcerer/wizard spell lists. For example, a scroll of lesser restoration must be purchased as a 2nd-level scroll created by a cleric and can’t be purchased as a 1st-level scroll created by a paladin. If a spell is not on the cleric, druid, or sorcerer/wizard spell list, move down the following hierarchy to determine which class creates the consumable. Use the spell’s text from the book in which it appears, instead of researching classes that might have gained that spell on their list in a later publication.

4) Alchemist, Inquisitor, Magus, Mesmerist, Occultist,

If there are still multiple options for the spell’s level, use the lowest level (for example, all scrolls of plane shift are 5th-level scrolls made by clerics rather than 7th-level scrolls made by wizards).
All potions, scrolls, and wands are available only at the minimum caster level unless found at a higher caster level on a Chronicle sheet. For the sake of simplicity, there is no difference between an arcane, divine, or psychic scroll or wand; thus, a bard and cleric can both use the same scroll of cure moderate wounds.

Koeuss also has access to first-level spells, so has no need to make a caster level check.

If the user meets all the requirements noted above, and her caster level is at least equal to the spell's caster level, she can automatically activate the spell without a check.

Would someone try spellcraft on the cloak I found at the bottom of the pit?

Seren hands Saito the scrolls of gust of wind and obscuring mist, along with the wand of burning hands CL3, 4 charges. She gives Koeuss the scrolls of mage armor CL6 and identify.

Saito, you are our high-dex character, do you want any of the thrown equipment: acid vial, alchemist’s fire (x2), holy water, tanglefoot bags (x2) and a thunderstone.

She gives a potion of cure light wounds to Elena and another to Stiggur.
Then the potion of barkskin goes to Saito assuming she plans to get into melee?

Anything left, or turned down, she keeps in Janira's pack.

If anyone has UMD, dropping 6 hours of mage armour on our monk seems like a no-brainer.

Seren keeps hold of the bag but invites others to take whatever they can use.

After crossing the pit, Seren offers up the cloak, ”This is magical but I don’t recognise it. Does anyone know what this is?”

When Elena readies for her jump, Seren makes a blessing, "Desna guide your path."

GM, bit of luck is supposed to be used before the roll. I hope you will allow it now? If so, Elena gets to roll twice and choose the highest for all d20 rolls that round (jump check and any potential reflex to grab the lip, fort to resist poison etc.).
