The Exchange

I'm sorry. I have to drop out. My wife and I had a conversation that included my gaming. I need to cut back on it some.

The Exchange

Senmont, realizing that he can't bash with a buckler, keeps his hammer and with a wide swing towards the legs of the skeleton to his right...

Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Alright, I'll be updating this soon, but a note: The map is the map. Senmont, moving to where you declared wouldn't be a 5ft step, you're up on a ledge, you're looking at something closer to an acrobatics roll. 2nd, while you'd technically be in a position for flanking with Drosk you have a pillar in the way. The better place to move would be up and to the viewers left. Same amount/type of movement, no obstacle, and while you wouldn't be flanking you wouldn't have penalties for obstacles either.

You know, I never even noticed that I was in an elevated area until you pointed that out. I thought it was all flat-ground.

The Exchange

Senmont steps left five feet and attacks skeleton six with the flank.

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

He smashes the skeleton with his hammer, then holds it out to Lianth. "Here, use this and your club at range instead of your bow. I got a shield that's itchin' to bash!"

The Exchange

Senmont swings his hammer at the skeleton to his left, then five foot steps up.
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Dmg 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Finally the fighter hits.

The Exchange

Senmont swings at the skeleton to the down and left of him.

Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 oh my god!

He then takes a 5 foot step diagonal and down to the right.

The Exchange

"Should practiced more with other weapons," Senmont mutters as he blocks a broken blade with his buckler. He parries and dodges as he backs away obliquely from the skeleton to his immediate front in favor of the one to his left.

Takes a five foot step diagonally left and down.
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The Exchange

Senmont looks at the skeletons with his eye for anatomy. No flesh to hurt, so I'll have to break the bones. He draws his light hammer from his belt.

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

He shuffles towards the skeleton to his immediate left and swings.

Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The Exchange

I've been out of town.

"No idea, but we should get the bastards that did this."

The Exchange

Hey man, I've been through that kind of s~$! too so no worries. Whenever your ready.

The Exchange

Strength 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Senmont picks up the carcass and holds it out for Lianth to examine.

The Exchange

Acrobatics
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Reflex
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

So what should we do ?

This Game has been sloooooow and no offense but in my opinion, it is not the fault of the players .
I'm game to continue but I can not really be enthusiastic about it in the actual situation

It seems to be about as slow as my other pbp's, so I haven't noticed as much. But I agree, we need to pick it up a bit, otherwise I think this will be another one heading to the graveyard.

The Exchange

"Yeah, thanks Drosk. I owe you a beer. Lets get some rest."

The Exchange

Senmont takes another swing at the wolf.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

The Exchange

Senmont swings again!

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

The Exchange

Senmont stands, picking up his falcata (I went ahead and made the switch, wasn't told no.). He doesn't have time to don his armor, nor grab his buckler, so he swings his blade at the nearest wolf with two hands.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

DM Doom wrote:
I typically don't mind slight adjustments to be made before a PC hits level 2. What are you thinking of?

I was thinking of switching him from a TWF to Buckler and Falcata, leading to Taldor Duelist. I would adjust his background so that instead of his father being from Qadira and his mother a local, his father is from Taldor, mother from Qadira, and they fled both countries in some Romeo and Juliet manner.

The Exchange

I'm here, but I was thinking about recalibrating Senmont's feats and equipment a bit. Would that be okay.?

The Exchange

Perception 1d20 ⇒ 6

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Senmont rolls around and struggles to get out of his bedroll, but after several seconds, he manages to stand.

The Exchange

Senmont just sits and eats with the others. He also sharpens his kirpans with his whetstone, which now appears to give his weapons a +1 to damage for the first hit with them. He'll take whatever watch is left over.

The Exchange

"Well, if the conjuror wants to rear his ugly head again. I am sure he will know where to find us," Senmont says as he follows along.

The Exchange

The source of the pipesmoke, or just the continuation of the journey for me.

The Exchange

Senmont walks over to Timmy and give him a slap on the back. "Good job little man. It takes a cunning soldier to hold himself in reserve in case of a flanking attack. I knew you had it in ya!"

The Exchange

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 6

The Exchange

Senmont sheathes his kirpans and draws a javelin.

The Exchange

Will save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

"Well damn, Lianth. Why didn't I notice that before?"

The Exchange

Senmont glances at Lianth as if she had gone crazy as his kirpan slides into the orcs flesh. He side steps and goes for another swing, then again with his second weapon. either at the same orc or a different one if this one goes down.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Dmg: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

zomg my damage rolls were nearly as much as my attacks lol[/ooc]

The Exchange

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Draws his short swords and moves to attack the orcs.
Attacks 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Damn, I knew I should have stuck with that falchion and high crit range.
.
If you want to roll initiative for us all to save time, that's fine by me.

The Exchange

I guess while everyone rolling Survival checks, I might as well roll an assist.
Survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Senmont follows along, whistling away alongside his friend Drosk, making idle chat.

Lianth has gotten tired of the taunting, remembering too well her own outcast childhood,

"Gentlemen. Mister Smallwood may or may not be able to cause a building to topple over when he's anxious. Let's not provoke him into demonstrating what happened to the tower, shall we?"

"Actually, that very ability might be perfect for this mission. Timmay! I'll do my best to keep harm from occurring to your person, m'kay," Senmont says to Tymothy as he hands over his piece of parchment.

The Exchange

"At least with all of our limbs intact."

The Exchange

Senmont pulls out the parchment in his own pack, and sees the rope as well.

"Looks to me they expect us to either do some climbing, or rappelling. Drosk, what'd you get? He pulls out the parchment in his pack and studies it.

The Exchange

"I nominate my good friend, Drosk Ironhame to be the bearer of the flame. There is no one with a greater sense of honor than this dwarf."

The Exchange

"As long as I can count on you when the offal hits the whirling dervish, that's all I care about. Let's get this flame, then, and start this adventure."

Goblin:
"I don't need to outdo anyone. Get in, complete the task, get out. That's what I'm about."

The Exchange

While the elf babbles in multiple languages, Senmont looks to him and mentions in yet another language.

Auran:
"Don't you worry, I won't be calling on you for anything."

It is clear that the Qadiran's first impression of this newcomer is disdain.

Goblin:
"If this is just a game to you, I suggest you leave."

Then in common.

"Take this seriously or choose another way to amuse yourself, elf."

The Exchange

Senmont steps forward, his armor giving a light rattle.

The Exchange

Yeah, no worries here. I have been there too. I hope your injury is not too severe. Good luck with the job search.

"No idea, (I figured it was common knowledge though), "But I here if anyone here can find it, you can."

"We will know each other better than we wish soon enough. I say we begin."

"I think I can get through this without getting to know you, if that is your wish. Come on Timmy! We won't let any ogres get you before tomorrow." Senmont drapes an arm around the young magician, and winks at Drosk.

The Exchange

"He he he," Senmont giggles, then says slowly "Dr-osk and Sen-mont. I think we will be gone overnight, but that's okay. We probably won't get much sleep out there with all of the wolves and kobolds running around."

The Exchange

"I hope so, I get lost as often as I don't in these woods." Senmont replies to Drosk's last statement. Then he leans closer and whispers in Drosk's ear, "Besides, I wouldn't mind following those two in the woods," as he nudges the young dwarf.

Then he stands up straight and pulls out a hammer, admiring it. "You do good work, dwarf. Not that I am hoping to run into any skeletons, but if I do, I'm sure these will do the trick." He flips one hammer in the air and catches it by the hilt before hanging back in his holder.

The Exchange

Here is the information about Kassen in the Pathfinder wiki. There isn't much, so I took Nirmathas as my ideas for flavor in Senmont's background.

The Exchange

I dark skinned young man, barely out of boyhood but built like an athlete, strolls into the square with confidence. He has close cropped black hair, not much more than stubble, and is heavily armed and geared up for travel. He is wearing a new set of armor, with a copper colored breast plate protecting his torso, javelins are sticking out of a sheath slung over his back, hammers hang from his backpack, but what really stands out are the twin Kirpans at his belt. These two short curved swords look well used, and possible older than the carrier. When he sees Drosk, he walks straight to the dwarf, clasping his hand and says, "So they got you too? This bodes well to our quest, my friend."

DM Doom:
Any chance Senmont can 'upgrade' his kirpans, when he can afford to, to masterwork quality instead of having him sell them and buy new ones. He would pay the same cost (probably more since he won't be selling anything) but it allows his swords to be family heirlooms.

As far as the confusion, I took the OP of the game thread to just mean the PCs were there waiting for the start of the hoopla before the young questers are sent off.

The Exchange

Done. Blurb above and in my character sheet.

“So, you know who that Senmont kid is? You know, the son of that foreign mapmaker who talks funny. No, not that guy, the one that's been apprenticing with Dr. Linswarlow; making drawings of dead people's insides and stuff. Well. He upset one of the elders by drawing his dead wife and then sent the drawings off to be published in some medical journal in Absolom.”

“Oh my gods I know! He was pissed. I think he may try something someday. I wouldn’t want to be in Senmont’s boots”

“No, no, he is well off, but not a snotty rich kid like some of those other scions of the well-to-do around here, and you know who I am talking about.”

“He has been practicing his swordplay as well as his art, so I think he will be able to hold his own on the quest. I heard he is going to run off and do something stupid like join a militia or worse, head to Qadira and enlist. His dad sure fills him with that Qadiran mumbo-jumbo, that’s for sure. The only person who knows for sure is that cute miller's daughter, but even that isn't for sure because her dad won't let her hang out with that boy anymore, since he pissed off the elder you know.”

Oh jeez, I should have looked closer.

As far as character classes, I am not 100% going to do summoner, just in case someone else wants to do one and doesn't because I mentioned it so go ahead and make one if you want. I am playing two other charismatic spell-casters already so to vary it up, I am probably going to do a non-spellcaster. I am re-familiarizing myself with the APG classes. I am definitely not going to pick Cavalier, and will likely not play an alchemist.
