I've looked into it, and you didn't miss anything—we didn't give you the choice. We'll fix that for everyone else.

It still seems like its not working. On my subscription page it says:

Ongoing Subscription

Next issue:

Pathfinder Companion: Second Darkness (OGL) Print Edition will ship with a future Pathfinder Adventure Path volume

Pathfinder Companion: Elves of Golarion (OGL) will ship with a future Pathfinder Adventure Path volume

I decided to wait with the Companion subscription, to see if I liked what I saw.

I do like it, so I added the subscription.

Now it says:

Next issue:

Pathfinder Companion: Second Darkness (OGL) Print Edition will ship with a future Pathfinder Adventure Path volume

But I already got the Second Darkness issue, I don't want two of them, and I didn't have the choice not to take it.

Could you please make sure that I don't get two of these?

Thanks.

I'd suggest heading over to Wizards Char Ops forums (assuming such things still exist, as I haven't been able to get into their site for months).

Thanks, I will try to do that, if it comes up again within the near future. And thanks for the build proposed.

In my gaming group, I am always the evil GM. Now I have been challenged by one of my players. Besides the Core rules, I have really no clue what is in all the other books. The guy challenging me is a real Min/Max guy. So I have come here for some guides.

Challenge: Create a 4 player party, using 3,5 rules. All Wizards 3,5 books are allowed. Create the party at level 1. Level it up to level 6, 11, 16, and 20. Meet the other players party on a battlefield, to see who created the best party.

I could imagine that some rules are added to the battlefield, like a closed area, and disallowing teleporting in and out of the battlefield.

So as I have no time to read all books, what do I really need to read? Which classes, prestigeclasses, items, spells, feats, etc. are winners that I must have in my party? Which combos are winners, both combos on the single character, but also party combos?

I hope I get a lot of directions from all you super players out there.

Thanks

I don't know much about other countries in the EU, but living in Denmark, it can be pretty expensive to buy stuff at Paizo.

In Denmark, there is a rule that if a package shipped from outside of EU, cost more than DKR 80 (approx $17) including the shipping price, we have to pay VAT (no taxes are needed from Paizo).

Now, I don't mind paying the VAT, it is me who is living in Denmark. However, the Danish Postal Service have a monopoly on checking through international shippings, adding VAT. For that, they are allowed to add an amount they judge to be the cost for them. For that they charge DKR 150 (approx $32).

As an example, I order a Pathfinder module, $14, pays for shipping $6, and ends up with a $20 payment. Then it arrives to Denmark, a $5 is added for VAT, and a $32 for handling the VAT, for at total of $57.

Now my problem isn't as much the $57, as it is the feeling I am feeding a monopoly, who thanks to me feeding them, will do everything they can to stay on that monopoly, and claim that it is reasonably that they charge a $32 times 12, $384 for handling 12 packages of mine, that I have already paid $6 times 12, $72 to be handled.

At the moment, it seems that more and more packages are getting caught by the postal service, eg. they are figuring out that they are sitting on a gold mine. I would believe that in 6-12 months, they are adding VAT to all packages from Paizo to Denmark.

My guess is that you are going to loose most of your Danish customers who are buying directly from Paizo.com.

Would it be possible for you to somehow set up a European office, where say, when a package is ready to ship for the EU, you bundle it with all packages for the EU, you pay the VAT (which you of course have added to our orders), and then you resend the packages as they arrive inside the EU?

If that isn't possible, at least I have let you know what the reason is, should you start to loose Danish customers (whom there probably aint that many of anyways).

I also have a Pharasma priest in my group, and I have given him visions in his dreams of what is coming.

For instance, in his first vision, he saw a 7 pointed medallion waving in fogged air. It was dripping thick blood in a pool of orange light. Something that looked like fire, but without flames. In his vision, he heard deep laughter, and as he turned around, he saw a man with a long black ponytail, and gems in his head, laughing at him.

When the player saw the pool at the quasit, he was sure he had seen that pool before. He recognized the image of Karzoug in the room north of Malfeshnekor. They have come to see the Sihedron as something big is coming their way.

Before they entered Fort Rannick, they were unsure if they really should. It was filled with Ogres, and really, they weren't getting paid (and my group never does anything without getting paid). The priest cast Divination, with the question: "Will we have success if we attack the Fort", while the answer was "Varisia needs the success". One of the first times, they said, okay, we better do this,

With all the other dreams the priest have had, it is clear for them, that something is growing, and it is not for the good of Varisia, and Pharasma has chosen them to avoid it all. (On a thread about deities, I ask JJ about Pharasma and the runewells. When Karzoug is feeding on souls, JJ says, its like dipping on the souls, before they are sent to Pharasmas graveyard. I have changed that, as suggested by JJ, to have the souls consumed by Karzoug, and thereby not going to Pharasma. This makes Pharasma VERY much opposed to Karzoug.)

A last thing to give information is Brodert Quink. However, the players are very displeased with him at the moment, as he simply can't feed them fast enough with information. However, when they return from Hook Mountain, I plan to have Brodert give equal details on all of the 7 runelords.

Since the Chronicles line started, I have had a feeling that customers having both Pathfinder and Chronicles subscriptions are being "punnished" considering when being able to download PDFs, compared to only Pathfinder subscribers.

It seems odd, that when we choose to ship as soon as a new Pathfinder module are brought in, we are last in line.

So here is my suggestion:

As soon as you are ready to ship any item, if a customer have been a subscriber on that item line for a given time (6 or 12 months), that customer are given access to the pdf right away, even before you have credited any money. The customer have been there for said time, and isn't likely to stop right now.

Flaws: A customer might cancel a subscription, after you released the PDF, making you loose money.
Benefits: Customer satisfaction, and a reason to not stop and restart subscriptions.

I believe that the advantages clearly outweighs the disadvantages, and anyone who cancels a subscription to receive a "free" pdf, was probably a customer you were going to loose anyway, and it that case, that lost PDF might not translate to much money anyways.

Honestly, I am quite angry at the moment, that you held my PF#8, to ship with Classic Monsters, when I chose a Ship my Pathfinder as soon as possible option. My hardcopy is about a month to reach me. Whats important for me, is the possibility to look at my Pathfinder at the same time it is discussed on the forum.

I have considered subscribing to the Companion, but since its first release is in august, I haven't decided yet. The current amount of stalling due to my Chronicles subsription, makes me lean towards not going on Companion. I just don't want more reasons for delays, when I feel I that I in fact should get a higher priority due to supporting Paizo.

When I chose:

"Hold subscription items to ship with my Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription
Combine items when possible, but make sure my Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes are shipped as soon as possible. Due to varying product schedules, occasionally I may pay to ship a volume by itself. "

I meant that I want my Adventure Paths as fast as possible, not that you should hold my shipment until Chronicles arrive. Ship my Classic Monsters with the next issue, that was what I asked for, and what I understand in the "as soon as possible".

Thanks.

Hi,

On my order page, it says:

You have 2 items waiting to be shipped when Pathfinder #9—Curse of the Crimson Throne Chapter 3: "Escape from Old Korvosa" (OGL) arrives at our warehouse:

While I have chosen

Hold subscription items to ship with my Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription
Combine items when possible, but make sure my Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes are shipped as soon as possible. Due to varying product schedules, occasionally I may pay to ship a volume by itself.

Is it an error that you are holding #2, until #3 arrives?

Further, in the past two orders, I have had problems with not getting the correct shipping (getting First-Class, instead of Package Service). Please make sure that it is the correct shipping.

Thanks.

I plan on staying with Paizo, and if Paizo created their own 3,75 version, without being tied to WoTC, that would be awesome!

I would really hope for a D&D the Paizo version.

Oops, posted in wrong forum, so I have reposted in the correct forum.

Hi,

It seems that shipping has been set to First class by a mistake.

This also happened last time, is it something that is wrong with my settings?

One more thing, would it be possible to add order #894169, that I cancelled because your couldn't combine shipping?

Thanks

I just made an order, and thought I could choose to have the order bundled together with my next shipment of Pathfinder.

Could you either make sure that the product is shipped together with later products, or if that is not possible, cancel this order.

Thanks.

We've had a huge snow storm up here in Seattle today and it will probably last through tomorrow. Most of the Paizo staff didn't make it into the office today and probably won't on Tuesday. Unfortunately, we can only look at orders while we are in the office. Once the storm clears and folks make it back into the office, somebody will take a look at your order for you. Sorry for the delay.

I understand that you are busy, and things like snow storms are out of your hands. But as I can see there are being given answers to other posts, I am just giving this a bump.

I still need an answer for this?

What is the reason for the sudden rise of $12.42 for shipping and handling?

Actually it appears that the shipping for this order was mis-set to USPS First Class, as opposed to the Pathfinder Standard Shipping. I have reset the shipping back to normal, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks,
cos

When I look at my account to choose which shipping options I want, I can't choose standard anymore, so I will probably have this error every time now. Can you fix that also?

What is the reason for the sudden rise of $12.42 for shipping and handling?

Just to give my view. I would have liked to know more about RotR before I started GM it.

A 4 page preview of the following AP in the last issue of the current AP sounds like a very good idea to me.

Regarding a free version. My players are mature enough to not go read these kind of things, so I have no problem with this. If it will boost sales, it might result in even better products, which is a win for me. So go ahead.

One thing to keep in mind about Golarion is that Prophecy is "broken." The death of Aroden, the first of the ascended gods, 100 years ago, pretty much caught everyone off guard. His death wasn't prophesied, and once he died, most of the other prophecies in the world started to go bad as well. Many of Pharasma's priests have lost their faith and/or gone mad as a result, but those who stuck it out are finding that Pharasma's hold over prophecy is becoming less important while her domain over death and birth and fate are growing stronger. It's a time of change for Pharasma and her faith.

Of course, Pharasma herself knew this was coming all along. She has a plan. (She's not a cylon, though.)

I have a Pharasma priest in my group. I have given him a benefit, where he receives some rather lively dreams every night. After each session I write a new dream for this character.

Spoiler:
In the dreams the priest have seen some deaths. Every time the priest has seen the souls of the dead slowly rise to Pharasma. A part of the last dream the character received, he saw a person get burned marked with a rune, and afterwards got killed. Here the soul was sucked away from the body.

I see it as the runelords are a really bad thing for Pharasma, taking away control of the souls. Actually, the time of the runelords might have been the darkest time of Pharasma. This means that Pharasma has a great interrest in having Karzoug stopped, permanently, and for this is sending the priest. (Pharasma of course already knows what the result of the priests work will be.)

Now to the question:
Is this view from Pharasma on the runelords compareable to what you have in mind at the moment?

Vic Wertz wrote:
Plenty of people have already elected to start their subscription with the card deck...

Just to give my thoughts to Paizo.

I am really not interrested in the item cards, but even so, I started my subscription with the item card. The reason for this, is that I am not going to have the Crimson item set, the Second Darkness item set, and so forth, without owning the Runelords set.

However, if I could decide, this subscription should include only items where we would also get the pdf, this is after all the reason I chose a subsription, rather than just ordering. I could then choose to buy the Harrow deck seperately.

Lastly, as have been mentioned earlier in this thread, this subscription is more or less a card blanche for Paizo to charge our credit cards. In other words, it is more or less for those who doesn't really care if it costs $10 or $50 a month. And to send an extra $20 to Paizo each year, well I really don't care.

Just keep the quality up.

But in any case, we ARE watching the boards and our emails. If there's a call for an evil adventure path, we'll do it. I'm just not seeing that call from our readers yet.

Thanks! It is great with a company that listens, and answers, even if they decline. It is not random customer service kids who answers on these messageboards, and that alone gives you guys a lot of respect.

Keep up the great work you are doing.

James Jacobs wrote:
As for an evil adventure path, I've certainly considered it, but it's unlikely to happen; evil campaigns simply aren't popular enough to justify six months of support in Pathfinder.

I understand that you need to create products for the wider audience, but from what I read on these messageboards, I am not convinced that is correct.

To address som of the things that was raised in this thread.

First, I am a "lazy" GM, and I am not doing much extra besides what is written in the adventures. This is primarily due to the fact that I don't have much time on my hand. On the other hand, I have enough $ to buy the products I want/need. The reason I am not subscribing to the GameMastery modules is because I want a campaign, not a single adventure, to ensure a minimum of work.

A lot of people in this thread believe that being an evil group, must eventually result in the players killing off each other. But why then, is there so much evil in the world, why haven't evil killed evil? Isn't it infact more the lawfull/chaotic part that ensures your ability to work together? Making reasons, guidelines as to why evil can work together is why you guys are the professionals, and you can do this much better than anyone here.

As has been pointed out here, it is funny, that the more "creepy", "evil" you make your adventures, the more interrest there are in them. If you guys made a really creepy, evil, path, with reasons as to the group should keep togehter, and not kill everything around them, I would doubt very much that the general community would hate that. An adventure where the "heroes" would feel heroic by doing evil deeds, and when the path concluded, the heroes may feel that they have saved their evil world from destruction by the forces of good.

Or, as has been suggested here, a path where the players perhaps balance in between making the right directions. A path with two outcomes, regarding to what paths the heroes chooses. Such an adventure path would be a great way to get a feeler on how many groups would actually choose the dark side, when tempted. Of course, there should be some heavy restrictions on the character creations. The group should have equal opportunity to choose directions, and to do that paladins just wouldn't do in such a campaign. A path where choosen either side should be rewarding.

Last, regarding the idea of just converting as an example RotRL to an evil campaign. I am not suggesting this because I want evil for any price. I want a campaign designed for the evil guys to see a world where the means of the good might not be that much better than the means of evil. Now I obiously haven't read Pathfinder #6 yet, but stopping the runelords just seem a bit good aligned heroic, and making it evil for the sake, would not make me as a player save Sandpoint from goblins, or to help retake a fort occupied by ogres. It just doesn't make sense.

When you get to do the more experimenting part of your adventure paths, I would really like to see a whole path where the players get to be evil.

A path that shows the importance of the balance, and maybe that good and evil are not that different, but the means on how to accomplish the goals are.

Of course, an evil path would require a way to ensure the players to work together. Maybe a path where the main goal of the campaign is known early on, but the work to accomplish it is long and hard.

Means like assainations, torture, and the like should be a part of the campaign.

It would be super cool to see the other side of the world through the eyes of the players. Maybe some new rules to cope with player insanity?

Later adventure paths could have elements of cleaning up the stuff the players did in their evil campaign. Maybe a path where the main villain(s) are (one of) the charaters of the evil campaign.

A little sidenote: I am going with Paizo on the 4e question.

I prefer the 23rd where my calanders say "Autumn begins," since Shelelu arrives shortly afterwards which alarms the townsfolk since she normally arrives in late Autumn, which would be near late November/ early December (Neth and Kuthona, respectively), and Pathfinder #2 feels like a cool October adventure (Lamashan) after the party wraps up Pathfinder #1 in a few weeks.

I would go for the 23rd, as I would agree that the start of Autumn seems right here. Further, as the 23rd is Sunday, it makes sence to start the adventure on the Rest/religion day.

Thanks for the info. Just messed up with Spring/Autumn. Not sure why I did that. :)

I am going to start my RotR campaign in a week from now, and I have decided to have the players make a calendar for the day they are currently on.

It states that "The Swallowtail Festival begins promptly, as scheduled, on the first day of autumn", and I understand we have the year 4707 AR.

Question #1: I guess the first day of autumn is the 1'st of Pharast. Is this correct?

Question #2: What day of the week is 1'st of Pharast 4707 AR?

I know this isn't that important, but if I am having the players make a calendar, it would be nice to be in sync with what You publish in the future.
