Hi folks,
In my gaming group we do Pathfinder or PFS most of the time, but we want to do something different on 5th Sundays. I have recently found a box of my old 1e AD&D stuff from high school and college. I have a homebrew campaign outlined that I think would be really fun to play as a one-off or 5th Sundays if the group likes it. I also have a bunch of 1e modules.
I won a C&C Players Handbook at FreeRPG day and somehwere along the line I was also given a DCC GM screen. I got a set of the crazy Zocchi dice too, on a whim. I've never played or GMd either. I have not cracked the C&C book yet.
In your opinions which of these captures the flavor of 1e AD&D better? Is one more suited to converting 1e material? What have been your experiences? I could of course just dust off the old AD&D books, but I guess I am hoping for something that can turn into a side game where other players can get their own copies to take turns GMing.
So far I have judged these books by their covers. C&C looks to be nicely edited and beautifully illustrated, in more of the "coffee table" quality style of modern RPGs. DCC appears to capture the older more pulpy and gritty feel.
Would either be better suited to a one-off or occasional type of game?
