I notice the number of messages in this post when I go to post in my active game and so will see if there are any posts in the gameplay thread.
I don't think our DM is returning. I find it disappointing when they just disappear without at least coming on to say something. Group applications are so competitive that I usually put between six and ten hours into making a character. I think we at least deserve a notice that the DM is bowing out.
It's been so long now that I've pretty much lost that excitement I had over playing Scraps and I'm not sure what I would do if he returned at this point. It's a real shame because you guys certainly don't deserve to be forgotten.
I'm sorry that things are working out this way as I enjoyed playing with each of you. I will of course keep an eye on these threads and will definitely pop in if a significant number of posts show up in the gameplay thread.

If I have no target, I would prefer that Scraps not fire. It will save me a gold and a lot of noise. I see no reason that she would have fired if the mite was already gone.

I check in every day but only need to write something about once a week. I've not given up yet, but it definitely has that...not going much further feeling to it.
I have finals in three weeks. Pass or fail out of school. I will be here every 1-2 days to see what's going on but won't post unless I need to.

Scraps watches each of her friends cross the bridge, her heart in her throat. The lack of trolls swarming from beneath it to gobble them all down reassures the young goblin and she crosses.
Well, she gets her ass and pushes it ahead of her, running to keep up with the beast.

Scraps will approach the bridge cautiously, looking to see if there is anything amiss with the bridge. She was much more comfortable with the rickety one and doesn't understand why someone would build a perfectly good bridge and then leave it lying around.

Considering the party to be an off and on scary place, Scraps will try to make friends with all three of the strangers. It should not slow her down much if they don't want to talk to her as Scraps is quite adept at carrying on full conversations with her ass. Listening to Scraps has no bearing on the amount she speaks.

One bullet dodged. I took my Medical Micro final today and did quite well I think. I was supposed to take it last week but they had the poor grace to schedule the test right in the middle of my nervous breakdown over Pathology and had to call in sick.

I am sorry that I've been gone for a few days. I've had a bit of a stress breakdown from school and am just starting to get my legs underneath me. I did not do well on my Pathology midterm. While the class average is usually a 70, and I was hoping for a 60 or so, I don't think I made it. I will find out tomorrow or Monday how bad the damage is. As I believe I've said, every one of these tests are make or break and so you can imagine how hard I've been hit. 125 people were dismissed last year because of this class and I'm struggling not to be one of them.
Please bot Scraps for another couple of days while I get my bearings back. I'll make it through this, it's just going to take a few days.

Scraps sits down at the bridge beside the river and begins to make Sand/Mud Castles. Once she builds her walls, she makes little figures out of tied blades of grass and puts them up on the battlements. She even folds the grass together into little horse shapes and puts grass men on them.
Once her castle is done, she moves over about ten feet and begins working on her Numerian war camp. She makes little huts and lean-to's out of sticks and twigs and then ties more little men and dogs.
She seems quite engrossed by this behavior and seems very good at it, her quick, nimble fingers twisting grass at an impressive rate.

I need at least a 60 on the Micro final which should be doable.
I'd like to get at least a 70 on the Path test. Class average is usually right around there and I am usually 3-4 points below that. I'll be okay as long as I make a 63.
I study every day, but I'm going to be studying even more until these tests, and especially starting the 11th. I will still post once a day, but they won't be long philosophical debates in goblin. 8)

I mentioned that my other character speaks only in rhyme and so I thought I'd post an example since I'm kind of proud of it. We probably argue as much in that party as this one as the party consist of:
1) a faerie paladin princess (me)
2) a future Red Cap gnome
3) a "not quite but almost evil" bleachling gnome
4) an Ulfen Skald who's career has mostly been fighting hags and fey
5) a retired dwarf soldier
6) a hermit wizard who's wife was killed by fey
Not us of course, different fey. Still, it's usually three on three so you can imagine what happens.
Yeah, it's the Reign of Winter AP. We are all required to play vikings or something from their culture and this is what we came up with. My character history is all written in the Norse style and took something like eight hours. 8(
Anyway, this is an argument my character Hilde got into with the Skald.

The bleachling speaks in rhyme as well, but only when addressing me. I think he writes better than I do. And then the hermit really only yells. - Well, the two of them mutter a lot too, as well as the dwarf. It's been a fairly involved AP and the DM expects rather a lot of us. 8)

Sorry about my post. It was the second time I'd posted it and it was late. The boards ate my post after I'd spent about an hour writing it. I kind of broke the fourth wall there, but I'd been studying a long time and was loopy. As to Scraps' broken English, sure I can tone it down. It's actually a pain to write that way. I've been trying to roleplay a 7 INT which means a lot more than not speaking clearly. One example is really hair-brained plans like this one - the kind it would take a goblin to think are brilliant. I'll speak more normally and will translate some of my more frequently used words.
Scraps looks around at everyone and blinks.
"What I be sayin is instead o attackin straight on, mebee (maybe) Wallop, Caderin an I go in first an act like we friends. We say we part o gobbin/hobgobbin tribe that got kilt(killed) by venturers (adventurers). We kin (can) tell them that you be comin from completely wrong direction and get they defense set up wrong way. Then, when you attack, we make a big mess of everything and attack from the inside.
Wallop could dress up like a hobgobbin by wearing black clothes and having a helmet that is way to big. If he rides Caderin, which looks like a warg, then they will think he's really a hobgobbin. That way I not have to go alone. Also, Caderin can talk with missee (Aerynne) and keep her in the know bout what is happenin.
Or mebee we get there an find out that there aren't many of them, an then we don't worries an just fights em."
So, sorry about being so tough to read. I hadn't meant to make anyone take 20 minutes to read anything. The trick is to read everything out loud as many words are spelled phonetically. She drops her "g" from "ing" and usually her "d" from "and", "hand", etc. She can't pronounce Aerynne or Caderyn, which is why I call her Missee and mispell his name. I was trying to be characterful, but it's not worth upsetting everyone else. It will also be a relief, as my character in the other PBB I play speaks only in rhyme and those posts frequently take me an hour or more to write. Sorry. 8)

Scraps seems very agitated and flips through her pack, throwing her belongings onto the ground. she pulls out a sign which reads I will hold out posting until.... and throws it on the ground. Beneath it was Scraps nods here head.....and that's all you see before it's in the dirt.
Next comes Scraps be saying dis one more time..... and then it's on the ground, followed by her last sign What be happenin ta me post? She gets particularly angry at this one, throws it on top of the others and stomps up and down until they are well an truly deders. Grabbin up her litter, she stomps over to Gerran.
"Now you listen here cat-man. I already tell you this once, jes like other day and you not listenin, jes like other day. You seem ta think Scraps is all mouf when me is not all mouf an me djaw bone be gettin tireder. I'z say this one moar time and then you have make plan to do sumptim simples.
Runnin over to get Wallop, she drags him back to Gerran, while telling him how frustrated she was that he didn't listen to her either. Back at Gerran, Scraps stands beside Wallop and tries to draw her height up to maybe reach 3 feet.
"kk, here be the deal. It a bit complicated, but I'm sure you smarties can get it. Mites be half fey so they not scare easy and they a bit tough to fight cause many weapon ping on em. However, they look jes like Blues, which are not so hard ta fight.
Now, I gots me stuff algether right heres. We needs get some black clothes for Wallop and maybe a helm two size too big. He can use dat big sword in one hand and swing it aroun a lot an it work once he climb up on dat big smrt woof. I'z come in an say, 'Oooo, ourn clan just get wipped out by some awful angry ventrures. Then henwoofnI go out and meet us some mites and you come attack us n day after tomorra when we be ready for ya. We can send de waargg out to take messages back and firth. You see, it work like dream."

Scraps nods her head at what each person says. At Aerynne's suggestion, she turns to get her ass. Throwing what little she owns on its back, she climbs up its side after.
Once on the road, she will trot next to Gerran, leaving her spot at the back for the first time since Olaf's.

We capture a big bad an if we lets it go free, it eats other peoples and that no good. You sayin when we catch peoples not so bad, we can mebbee help dem, ifn it be safe." She nods slowly, but still looks a little doubtful.
When Marius joins the conversation, she pays his words equal attention, listening carefully and nodding throughout. "Yu be sayin that peoples which done wrong mus be punished. You wanna do it quicklike ta make it easier on dem an us. Scraps not know much about Law cept ta know it be mighty complicationed. Ifn a man be tired an wanna take a res ona bench, Scraps seen for laws: Ifn it a noble, he relax on da bench, this okay. Ifn he be a bitinessman, this okay fer a bit, but then guard tell him move along or he be loiterin. Ifn it be a child, the guard pop him on head an say gettin home or get woopin. Den, ifn be Scraps, she get throne out o da city and told never come back. Which be da Law?"
Finally, she listens very carefully to Morgrym, despite the hostile, mocking tone. Here too, she nods and pays very close attention. She has none of the uncertainty here however. "Devil man say you got gift from Torag that let you see inna peoples soul. Tell you how clean it be an what color it tis. I dinnae know about this Torag person or dis gift but I do know some things."
Walking over to Wallop, she smiles. "You an Missee unerstand Mercy an ye looks at the world as a new place ta find new things. I think you be likes me and mebbee one day you thinks that too."
Looking to Gerran, her eyes go up and up until she finds his. "You unerstand Right an Wrong which be very impertant. Me thinks you be okay wit this ta guide yas and I thinks Is trustin you. Me hopes I kin keeps trustin you."

Finally, she walks over to Morgrym. "Da halflin and Missee unerstan Mercy. The cat-man unerstand Right n Wrong. Da devil man unerstan Tradition and da Law. I thinks I knows what you be unerstandin. You unerstand Hatred. I nots know exactly where I keeps me soul, but I's guessin it be inside me somewheres. I nots unerstand how ye see the color o a peoples soul ifn ye can't see pass the outside o em. How I knows yer can see souls? Jes you and devil man say you can but anyone kin say dey can. Even ifn ye kin see souls, how I know you saw whats you see? Mebee one day you jump up an holler, 'Lordy everone! I finally see Scraps soul an it be all blackness! Quick, killer now!' an then I be deaded, jes like those men before and this womans here."
Turning to Gerran before the storm erupts, she says, "Cat-man, I thinks you an devil man need ta write down da Law on when someone is ta die an who decides. I thinkin killin be moar important than six strangers standin in a circle deciding whatever works for da times. Mebbee ye writes who decides an why and how many haf ta decide. Maybe then Scraps can see if she think it right. Until then, Scraps papers say I come here, explore, and stop banditin. I not think it say I hafta kill everyone I suspect be a bandit. I do think it say I hafta stop anyone what go around killin lots a people though. Mebbee you figure it out so I doesn't have to come aroun an try ta stop usn."

Somewhat disappointed about the map, Scraps rolls it back up and jams it down in the bottom of her pack before throwing the whole load on the back of her ass.

The US Naval Academy is one heck of an awesome school and one of the hardest to get into. My brother had a Senator willing to sponsor him to the Air Force Academy and passed on it. I think this might be one of his biggest regrets in life.
Everything worth having in life comes with a cost. The more worthwhile something is, the higher the cost.
I am so lucky in so many respects. I have an extremely supportive wife who helps with taking notes, correlating information and dealing with the locals. I have good friends and a supportive family.
I will admit that my life is a bit of a roller coaster. Yesterday I was down, this afternoon I was teeth-grindingly frustrated and tonight I am at peace with my fate. Who knows what will happen tomorrow. 8)

Yes and no. I know that the next three are much harder and their mean scores a letter grade and a half lower. I made Bs on these exams, so hopefully I will come out where I need to.
Medical school is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. It's harder than when I randomly picked up and moved to China when I was 22. Harder than switching careers mid-stream with no training back when I was 25.
It's hard because about a quarter of the students are in constant fear - and this is the same around the world. I have a video where the Prime Minister of Switzerland speaks on how we need to change the system.
We desperately need doctors. We need them to see more patients and honestly, the more there are, the less their services cost, while the opposite is also true.
We have to take very tough courses to get a shot at the entrance exams and then must study months for them. Once in medical school, we study 16-18 hours a day, without sleep, doing everything we can to advance. It gets worse every year in school, until you get to residency where they have to sleep in the hospital and rarely go home at all.
In the middle of that however, we borrow hundreds of thousands of dollars with no collateral other than our names. Unlike normal loans, student loans must be paid back, regardless of bankruptcy or any other circumstance.
25% of those of us who started have since been dismissed. It is the same in every school in every country. And once you are dismissed, there is no way to pay off those multi-hundred thousand dollar loans.
I wish I were smart instead of creative. I wish I were good at memorizing things rather than writing stories. I'm sure half the students here have no worries in life and are studying hard but confident in their future. Me, I sit right outside that 25%. I don't like this seat, but at least I have a chance to pursue my dream. I really feel bad for people with dreams they can't pursue at all.
Pardon me for the sharing overload. I'm tired and in front of a computer. I'm afraid my mind runs on and my typing just trails along behind it.

My school doesn't let people repeat classes any longer. If you fail a course you are dismissed. This might not be a problem if I were more science-smart. I'm trying to make up for natural talent with extra work. Unfortunately, that doesn't really work here where everyone has to study 24/7.

I plan to check the gameplay forum this week and next, and will post if Scraps is going to do anything...BUT...I have midterms next week. General Pathology Tuesday and Medical Microbiology Friday. These test are both brutal - 150 questions, 3 hours each, no breaks, get Bs or you're dismissed from medical school. A quarter of those taking these exams last term were dismissed - adios, bye bye...by the way, you still owe us $100,000 for tuition so far...

Well, if we're moving, then Scraps is going to hustle within 40' of the man in the tree. If she can get there with one move she will fire. If she can't, she's going to get within 40' and seek cover, ready to fire next turn.

My internet is moving really slowly and I'm not able to pull up more than the top right corner of the map where Gerran and the wolf are shown. I'd like to go ahead and make my move so I don't slow anyone down and I'll try on the map again later.
Scraps will pause in the camp to load her rifle, allowing the others to move ahead of her.
She will then follow the group as they move out. She will enter the underbrush beside the trail, such that she has a view of the platform, when the others move to rush the camp.
