You're all great RPers. I think Salsa is a great DM. And ... as I suspect the game will not survive the loss of three players at once, it was a pleasure to play with each of you. Hope to see you all in other games.

Scrapeknee nods to Cailyn "I'll let you guide me on the etiquette."

He actually smiles at Willie's University challenge, the man is so over the top it is hard not to like him at times "Clearly, cultures vary. To be fair, this is mostly second hand knowledge from my Uncles but yes, it varies from quah to quah...err tribe to tribe."

Wish I could remember his name but I have nothing."

"Oh, that was probably the old boy Taddeo," Willie elaborated very matter-of-factly, as if the hunters of Sandpoint were no less familiar to him than his own garters. "Tall-ish chap with a gammy leg? Yes, I had the pleasure of his company one evening. The most colorful raconteur once you get a few drinks in him. Awfully fond of show tunes too. In fact, we roared our way through 'Carrie the Cadger' at least twice that evening, ha harh! He... Well, that's rather off mark. Point is he raved about this here boar on that occasion too, a regular horror by his account. Tall as a quail in flight; sets a man ablaze by mere sight; its droppings alone render a land barren for threescore years, so on and so forth. Dramatic stuff!"

Scrapeknee tries to recall, Willie seems so sure that the Oracle figures that maybe it was Taddeo. Wait... did he met a Taddeo? Well, Willie wouldn't lie for no reason. I should pay more attention.

Quote:

He gave a hearty chuckle. "The embellishments of the seasoned woodsman, what? They'll turn a badger into a bulette! Ah, but I do so appreciate a good yarn." The smile stiffened somewhat. "That said, he, er... was rather convincing. Displayed the ol' quivering ganglions and everything, and this before finishing a single glass. I must admit I was quite taken with his tale in the moment, you see. But not to worry! I have no doubt our expedition will go swimmingly!"

Why did Willie feel a shudder crawl up his back?

At this he smiles, "I guess a bit of optimism never hurt anyone."

Then Conrad brings things back to reality

Quote:

"Hunting b-boars is not that easy," Conrad gives Willie a sobering look. "They're ag-gressive if you cross their t-territory. Especially f-females with p-piglets. They c-charge you."

"You n-need a s-spear with wings on the s-sides. So it c-can stay in if the b-boar impales itself on it," he explains, with rather eloquent gestures to punctuate this graphic image.

"I'm no exp-pert, but I think I could rec-cognise its p-prints."

"Among some tribes, such a hunt would be a rite of manhood." He ponders. Clearly tempted.

Quote:
"I... know f$!!-all about hunting. And it half sounds we'd be chasing a fairy tale. On the other hand, if there is a monster running through the woods that could hurt people, seems like someone should do something about it..."

And then Dare settles it. "Well, then I think we should go. For my part, someone might need healing even if i don't get a single blow in."

Scrapeknee wishes the folks at the Curious Goblin well, and thanked them for the help. It was not as much as he might have hoped, but it was kind of them to try and may have given some clues.

Entering the Dragon is slightly guilt inducing, but it is THE place in town. So he limps in warmly, nods, and soon has a seat and a drink.

No urge to clean here, at least.

Then there is reading of the letter, and his eyes nearly pop out of his head at the prize.

A bit of a worried frown forms with the group's parting, which is odd since they really were not a group, just a collection of people who happen to be near each other at a particular time and then were visited in their dreams by gods.

The plan was good though, so Cailyn waves down a Scrapeknee cousin and orders sandwiches to go "Two baskets, please. Ms. Ashborn and Mr. Mendelson will need one of their own."

Sarla was snooping nearby to see if any gems of musical tips fell from Willie, as well as working, so she responds quickly, "Right away! Let me know if there's anything else you want."

Unless given more instructions she moves quickly to get those for Cailyn. Humming softly as she practices her own musical talents, perhaps working on lyrics in her head.

Scrapeknee watches his cousin go, "She might be serious about this music stuff."

"You're hardly the first one to think that," he says. "Fortunately, Desna is a forgiving goddess. I don't think she'd have allowed you to keep those gifts you have shown if she was offended by your, ah, misconception."

Scrapeknee blushes but nods at that. And listens to the advice that follows after. He wonders if the gift can be taken away now or not... he doesn't pray at night like clerics do. But then decides it doesn't matter. He'll use these gifts to help people. It's the right thing to do.

Talking about Dreams

Quote:
"It seems we would do well to heed those warnings," he says. "Desna often uses dreams to guide and warn her faithful." He frowns as his eyes fix on Lita's holy symbol. "Forgive me. I know this is a personal matter, but what gods do all of you follow," he asks apologetically.

Feeling awkward, he admits, "Well, before all this I never thought of myself as particularly devout. I honored all the gods of the Cathedral because...well, it is traditional and they do protect Sandpoint but I wouldn't say I've been faithful. Erastil mostly I suppose, for family, but even there... well," He says "Pretty sure this gift could have gone to far more worthy folks. I'm honored though. I.. always thought Desna was a bit flighty though I'm learning better I guess.. but I do love the stars. Pardon, Father. I mean no disrespect. "

Male Human (Shoanti) HP: 9/9 | AC: 15/11/14 | F +1, R +1, W +3 | Per: +5, Init: +1 | Oracle (Stargazer archetype)-1

Scrapeknee says "Almost all of us had visitations of divine nature in our dreams. For me, I met Dani... and later a being known as Selalia who told both of us about a message of import to Sandpoint. Though the age of omens is lost, there are strands that can be felt, and they are converging. Dark Clouds are gathering over Sandpoint, and Selalia added that it would be up to us to help decide the town's fate. She said Dani and I weren't alone in these visitations, or so she suspected." He doesn't mention the dance, "You can check with Dani and see if she remembers the same. But I already spoke to those here and...well, Cailyn told me the message to her was something like ' 'You and your companions are needed to prevent a darkness from descending on Sandpoint and destroying all the good cooks.'" He looks over to Cailyn to make sure he got that right, but continues, "Lita had dreams too, and shared them with Dare where they were visited by a 'sunrise angel' to use Dare's description and again a warning of a coming darkness. Willie didn't remember much that he told, something about a cat? Conrad had a vision of some sort, he shared it with Joanna. So you may want to talk to Dani and her for yet more details some of us missed." He said this in something of a rush as if worried somehow if he didn't get as much of it out, something else would intrude on the message.
"So you can see why when it came to divine messages, we wanted to consult one wiser and more experienced in such than ourselves, sir."

And Scrapeknee's clearly been blessed, so between us, and a disruption of a festival of Desna, messages in our dreams makes sense, but... I couldn't tell you why us. I'm sure the Gods have stronger servants willing to fight this fight. We might simply be the ones who were here, or they have plans on pushing us into being the stronger servants we're looking for. Father Zantus is a good place to start."

"Yes, I think we should definitely talk to him. I'm not...sure what to make of my blessing but I've got a responsibility to use it wisely. I'm hoping you'll be able to make sure I don't bungle it, Lita." He coughs into his hand.

The conversation about Foxglove however is very over his head "He was very focused on you, Cailyn. I thought he just might admire you. There's a lot TO admire, but then I can miss a clue or three when it comes to people so maybe I read him wrong. Maybe you shouldn't be alone with him?"

Scrapeknee frowns when Willie seems to deny having a dream. He had been SO sure everyone would have.

At Dare's concerns, Scrapeknee sympathizes, "I'm not worthy of this trust either, Dare. And I don't know why us in particular. Maybe we're all they've got. Maybe it is because the holy day, the festival, lets them at least advise? All I know is, we appear to be asked for help so... thank you, for answering like this." He actually seems touched at the praise for Sandpoint

Walking to the Cathedral with an ever larger group

"That's personal!" She objects, but then relents as her head turns back toward Scrapeknee. "Actually, you did mention warnings, right? The sunrise angel warned about a- a... 'coming darkness.' Coming here, to Sandpoint." She looked around at all of them. "Even if it was just a dream, something was up with that goblin attack, I think. And those merchants, the two women who wanted me to put on a magic show, they mentioned an interest in ruins here. Thassigonagain or something. I was goin' to the Cathedral to see if they're feeling well enough to chat with. Well, I have personal business with them, but if there's ancient ruins here, maybe that's a good place to start looking for coming darknesses."

"I was going to see Dani myself because.. it appears she and I shared a dream." He focuses on the danger to sandpoint "In which we were warned uhm.. how was it? 'A dark cloud hangs over your home. It's up to you to help decide Sandpoint's fate. I fear that ill omens hang over your head.' and so on. I was told others were receiving messages as well. I asked if I could reach out to you guys for help. The messenger said of course I could."

Scrapeknee doesn't have time to respond at Cailyn's romantic narrative of his and Dani's meeting. Which might be good as he's not sure how to respond to that.

So she nods, "Morning, Princess." She tilts her head toward her companion. "Scrapeknee. Sleep well?"

"I had dreams, to be honest," He answers, "And in that dream I was told others might be getting messages and warnings to. If that's the cause, I thought maybe we should compare notes, He admits, "How about you two?" A side glance to Lita then back to Dare

"I'd ask you to painstakingly detail your dream, but the basics are probably the same. 'You and your companions are needed to prevent a darkness from descending on Sandpoint and destroying all the good cooks.'" she gives her head a small shake, looking a little embarrassed, "Just for example of the oncoming threat, of course"

"Cooks? Mmm... For me it was... 'A dark cloud hangs over your home. It's up to you to help decide Sandpoint's fate. I fear that ill omens hang over your head." He shakes his head, as they walk "I Hope that was a 'you' plural, because i am not qualified to decide anyone's fate let alone a whole town."

And to distract from that mistake, she says "And Dani was there?" her eyes dance with questioning tease "I ask, but only if disclosing would not be in bad taste."

His cheeks heat a bit, "Yes, I mean, she is training to be a cleric of Desna and.. well, I didn't think she was real at first. I'm afraid I was too forward ... I asked her for a dance. We did. Then , of course, I came to realze oh she's really in here, and felt like a fool. And, by the end of the dream I was asking her out. So... if she remembers that, I'll definitely know it was real." Ahem, "But that isn't the important part. You and I both had messages from higher powers. I suspect the others did too. We need to each hear what the other remembers and see if the pieces give us a bigger pattern on what we need to do."

'Godly pushes come from all around it seems' She lightly berates herself for simply wanting to slip back into the cozy daze of literature.

Cailyn looks up, eyes clear and bright again, "Yes, I did in fact." The truly lovely book is regretfully snapped closed. "And it would be impolite to pretend otherwise." She slips off her stool and pats her lips with the napkin that had once graced her lap. Just then she notices Veedie, the energetic hurricane of youth that has Cailyn burst into laughter more than once in this very room. "Veedie, I must cut my repast short. I am sorry for the trouble and the waste. Would you mind disposing of this treat and apologize to the cook for my insult?"

"It'd my honor, Lady Vanderdale," The ten year old curtsies, and takes the treat up, then whispers "Cleo is AMAZING, tell her I said so , please?"

If forgiven, the young woman beams her thanks, then joins Scrapeknee, slipping her arm in his. Or at least she starts to, but then stops, remembering both yesterday's misunderstanding and the adoration in Dani's eyes. Best not muddy any waters, she tells herself, then smiles. "Would you mind if I join you?"

"I was hoping you would" He says, and starts to offer his arm out of habit then chuckles and opens the door for her instead, then follows. The chuckle is a bit forced, but it's there.

As they head to the streets, he says "In my dream I was told others were having dreams as well, not just ordinary dreams, but messages. I think I spoke to a servant of Desna. Which sounds like hubris I know, but there you go. Dani was there... in my dream getting the same message. I want to talk to her too and see if she recalls."

It is possible that others may see them heading to the Cathedral as they walk

Scrapeknee woke up, smile still on his face, and he realizes that he ... that that was no ordinary dream. Hurriedly, he rose, and...
There was his gear, his weapons, his armor. He wore it at the festival as much in case crowd control was needed, not because goblins were expected. His smile falters a bit, no, it crumbles, and he sighs when he thinks of those who died. So many more would have if not for Sandpoint uniting, and the heroes he was lucky enough to find himself surrounded by.

It's a new day, yet trouble is still on its way, if the Dream was right. He puts on the armor and takes his weapon, at least it's been cleaned, and he heads into the main area of the Deer and on his way out.
He hears Sarla practicing her music. It's a mournful tune, sad and melancholy. But she is getting better. He sees Rubus behind the counter.

"Hey, Rubus, I need to head out," He feels like apologizing for it, "Tell your dad I..."
"Sure sure," Rubus nods, heir to the Inn, he looks at his cousin as if he doesn't know him anymore, "We got this."

Scrapeknee tilts his head, "Thanks. Is my hair a mess or something?"
HIs cousin shakes his head, "Nope. Just... OjWoj... since when do you... do that stuff?"

Oh. It sinks in He's ...scared of me? Rubus isn't scared of much he... "Since Yesterday, it seems. It's..nothing special about me, more of a ...gift. I'm still me, Cuz."

Rubus looks at him, less afraid, but still a touch distant, "No, I don't think you are, OjWoj. I'm pretty sure you're never going to be the same you again."

And Scrapeknee feels like he just got gut punched, not that Rubus meant it meanly, but it was a truth he... Whatever I do from now on, THIS is with me. I'll never be the same again. I...wow.

Then he's tackled by a ten year old girl, "You're a HERO!" Veedie, youngest of his cousins, seems to be quite sure this is an amazing things, "Your friends saved Jonu's mom! She told me about it! You're a hero! They're heroes! That means I'm hero adjacent!"
Rubus snorts, "It means you need to get to helping mother with breakfast. Go be Server Adjacent."

Veedie sticks her tongue out her older brother, then looks to Scrapeknee, "Tell Cailyn she's cool, she has a magic OWL. That's one of my favorite animals!"
"And you only have like seven favorites," OjWoj fights a smile "But she is cool. Now go help your mom while i goof off doing uhm.. hero stuff."

Cailyn wrote:

"Good morning, Scareknee, did you sleep well?" Cailyn asks, looking perfectly arranged in a crisp white blouse and dark skirts. She is holding a book, one titled 'Thasonian Edible Delights: the seven sins in seven bites', which she cracks, even as she greets her friend.

It seems like the avid reader is slipping back to her old habits even with her godly push. Surely Ganny Elda meant she would be needed when she was needed, not when she is not, which seems like the latter is the current, so... she hums a little melody as she nibbles on pastries and words.

And the ten year old girl , Veedie, freezes as if royalty were visiting, her jaw dropping open. Now, by now , Cailyn has seen Veedie and Rubus before, but today, Veedie gazes at her as if she were a brand new person, not just a customer, but a heroine!

With a magic owl!
"Good morning, Cailyn. I had ...interesting dreams actually. I mean to talk to you and the others about it," Scrapeknee says, "I was about to head to the Cathedral but... did you have any odd dreams yourself?"
