Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya's eyes narrow at the sprite nearest to her, a primal hatred in her eyes. She shouts out in the tongue of the fey, the anger in her voice making the message clear even for those who don't speak Sylvan.

Sylvan:
"I'm going to rip off those pretty little wings of yours for what you've done!"

Sarya drives her sword into the snow- it won't be of much use against flying enemies anyway. She speaks out to the others as she pulls out her sling and loads it with a bullet from the pouch around her waist, "Stay focused or you'll end up frozen in ice like those we found on the road." Sarya twirls the sling around quickly, sending the hunk of stone sailing off into the trees, hoping to knock the little demon off his perch.

Sarya Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5

Zev takes off toward the tree as Sarya winds up her sling. As he reaches the tree, he leaps toward it in an attempt to claw and climb his way up the tree.

Zev Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Finding the snowy tree a bit too slippery to climb up, Zev instead takes to clawing at the tree, jumping up at the fey creature with open jaws and barking ferociously.

Sarya drops her sword, draws her sling and attacks the little gremlin at P6. Zev moves to N6 and tries to climb the tree. I'm assuming he fails with a 3. =(

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya looked up at the tree, a pained expression evident on her face and in her eyes. Why would someone do this? Something about humans killing animals for sport never felt right to her. Humans can see the danger from other humans more readily and they often deserve whatever happens to them. Animals, though, weren't so lucky. Animals don't know what a bow is or how to spot a magic user...it wasn't fair.

Using animals as some sort of crude warning or killing them just for fun? She wasn't going to stand for this...not in her forest. She draws her sword and shield and casts a glance around the trees. If they were still here, she was going to make them pay for this.

Perception (Sarya): 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 4 = 19
Perception (Zev): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Wow...that was a thing. D&D and rap music...such a natural combination.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

I'm fine for continuing and I posted what I thought about whether or not to follow the original trail in character.

Also, welcome back GM! I'm almost secretly hoping you forgot your dice bag in a hotel somewhere though. Otherwise you'll have like eight 20s saved up. That's how dice work right?

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya's eyes light up at Yagello's response. She had expected anger and instead got embarrassment, an infinitely more amusing prize if she did say so herself. As Aishe kills the mood with her talk of tactics, Sarya makes a mental note to return to the subject the next time she needs a good laugh.

"I think I'd almost rather take my chances with wildlife over the tricks and traps of the fey. But I will agree that the deep snow makes things difficult. If you want to return to the original trail, I won't protest."

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya grows a wicked smile as Yagello draws his marching order into the snow. "I'm up front, huh?" She clasps her hands together next to her face in a fake swoon. "Such a gentleman! You'll protect me, won't you?" Her little display changes her smile into laughter. She was beginning to notice a few patterns in her new ranger friend and she couldn't think of a better way to push a few of his buttons...and something told her he'd be the most fun to pick on.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

It's fine, Arkady. I was out of town for the weekend, too. Kind of a shame...I was really looking forward to having a chance at some character interaction without worrying about boring the GM to death. Oh well.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya pushes her way through the snow towards the carcass of the tatzlwyrm, stabbing her scimitar into its throat just to make sure. Convinced that it's sufficiently dead, Sarya gives a quick wave of her hand toward the field of vines that had arisen from the snow. The vines quickly retreat out of sight, leaving a pockmarked circle of disturbed snow in their wake.

"Anyone have any idea what this thing is and what it's doing here? It's definitely not any animal I'm familiar with. Animals at least have the sense not to attack when outnumbered." Sarya casts a look of disgust down at the creature's corpse, steam rising from the blood pouring from its wounds.

"Is everyone able to continue? We still have a lot of daylight to work with. And the sooner this cold is out of my forest, the better."

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sure thing GM. Have a good time and take plenty of pictures! And you can rest easy knowing your table is safe...for now.

It's up to the rest of you guys whether or not we want to keep going forward or turn back. Sarya would prefer to keep going forward even without any spells left but I'm not going to say no if Caelia's running out of healing.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya's pace slows considerably as she watches the creature snake its way through the snow. There's no way I'm going to catch that thing in this snow... With a look of renewed determination, she sheathes her sword and focuses on her empty hand as she makes several quick gestures. The creature's escape is quickly cut off as long grassy vines erupt from beneath the snow, showing an almost animal-like instinct as they flail about in search of prey to ensnare.

Making it so the tatzlwyrm is caught at the edge of the spell with the rest of it behind him. There should only be a square or two to his left and right and then like 80 feet of it behind him. Basically just trying to cut him off. But if you could fail your reflex save, that'd be lovely. And if you roll a 20, I'm flipping this table...somehow. =P

Zev continues to give chase to the creature, barking angrily as he bounds through the snow after it and Arkady.

Zev Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Trip(just because): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Zev's moving to G2

Edit: Thought it'd help if I told you it was a DC 14 reflex save so you don't have to go looking anything up.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Zev's initial lunge goes wide of the snake-like creature but the wolf doubles back as it focuses it's attention on securing Arkady. Zev leaps towards the creature's back with teeth bared, trying to topple it over as it wraps up Arkady.

Zev AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Confirmation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Gosh darnit. I got excited for a second...Thanks for nothing dice. =(

Also wondering what everyone thinks about Sarya using entangle if he's still alive. I want to stop him from running off with Arkady since he's faster than all of us but I don't want to do something that might mess everyone else up. Up to the GM if I can use it though since I don't think there's much vegetation around. Maybe manipulating the grass under the snow? Or maybe the snow itself? That'd be kinda neat.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya draws her sword and shield and lets out two quick whistles as she points towards the creature that had ambushed Arkady with her sword. "You know what to do Zev." Zev snarls and charges toward the creature without hesitation as Sarya trudges behind him in the snow.

Zev launches himself towards what appears to be the monster's throat, trying to latch on and pull it to the ground.

Zev Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Moving Sarya to G6 and Zev to G4.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

So I put on my nerd glasses and poked around the internet a bit. You only get a standard or movement action during a surprise round but I assume he used a standard action to do a normal movement speed charge...and pounce allows for a full attack during a charge. But I think this bit from the SRD might save Arkady. =P

"If you get more than one attack per round because your base attack bonus is high enough (see Base Attack Bonus in Classes), because you fight with two weapons or a double weapon, or for some special reason, you must use a full-round action to get your additional attacks."

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya puts her hands on her hips and studies Caelia and Igmar once they locate a clear trail through the forest. Her face carries an amused grin as she looks around the trail. "A dwarf and a city girl getting along in the woods. I'm impressed. I could always use some apprentice druids, you know." Sarya turns her attention back to Igmar and Caelia and gives them a wink before casting a look back toward the clearing, squinting through the snow to try and get an idea of how far this new path is from the one they were following.

"I think it'd be best if we continue heading south for now. That seems to be the direction they're headed. We can cut through the forest toward the old trail every half hour or so to make sure we're still on the right track. Hopefully we can avoid any more nasty surprises and maybe even return the favor."

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya shakes her head when the chest is opened though she can't help but laugh at the circumstances. "Well...at least it's a nice chest. That's something."

When Caelia helps patch up her bruises, Sarya nods to her. "Guess we're even. Thanks."

Sarya holds up her hand as Yagello turns to follow the trail once more. "Yagello, wait. I'm not sure that's a good idea. It's obvious they knew someone was coming and put some thought into this. And I'm beginning to think Yuln was spared for a reason." Sarya holds up her hands defensively as she says the last part, anticipating what some of the others reactions might be. "I'm not saying there's some sort of grand conspiracy against us or anything. I'm just saying it'd be wise if we stopped doing exactly what they want us to do. We need to find another way to follow them that won't lead us directly into another trap or ambush."

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

"That'd be lovely, Caelia." Sarya exhales sharply and closes her eyes, lowering herself down until she's laying in the snow and looking up at the sky. The cold snow helped soothe some of the pain and at the moment she wanted nothing more than to just lay there for another hour or two. It seemed the rest of the group had other plans for her unfortunately.

Her eyes snap open when Zev makes his way over to her, licking her cheek tentatively. Sarya pats him on the head and looks over to the wolf. "I'm fine. Don't worry." The sound of Yagello approaching her causes her to prop herself up on her elbows. Her eyes alternate between looking at his hand and at his face before she finally sighs and takes the hand offered to her. She winces as she stands upright, trying to mask the pain with a short laugh. "Fine. Let's just hope it's worth all this trouble."

Seeing Yagello approach the chest, she frowns to herself. She didn't feel like digging up the chest at the moment but she follows anyway against her instincts, being far more careful this time around by taking slow, deliberate movements as she looks for any more signs of a trap.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 4 = 17

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Wow. The merciless dice of the DM strike again.

When her foot catches the branch hidden in the snow, the realization of what is happening sinks in quickly. Of course it'd be a trap and not an ambush. They were chasing fey. Sarya lets out a curse through gritted teeth as the sound of snapping branches fills the forest.

Her eyes go wide as she follows the rope, barely reacting in time to put her shield between herself and the log to lessen the impact. Still, it connects with alarming force and sends her tumbling face down into the snow.

She lays motionless like this for several seconds before groaning and pulling herself up onto all fours. Her breathing is uneven between coughing spells as she struggles to regain her breath. She lashes out against the ground in anger and screams out a few choice words as she slowly begins to collect herself.

Eventually, Sarya leans back into a sitting position. As she brushes her now dampened hair out of her face, she looks around at everyone else with a weak expression, still breathing heavily. "Well, at least no one is dead." Despite the pain, she manages a smile. "Did I mention I really don't like fey?"

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

"Well...", Sarya pauses at the sight of the discarded chest in the clearing and puts her hands on her hips, "...this is most certainly a trap. Who wants to be the decoy?" She turns to the others, a wide grin on her face, "No one?"

Sarya shrugs as Aishe approaches the chest and follows behind her, drawing her sword and shield as both she and Zev creep forward. While Aishe scans the area with her magic, Sarya takes a more direct approach to locating danger. She crouches down, scanning the snow around the chest for any signs of recent foot traffic. Zev follows suit, pressing his nose to the snow, trying to locate any still lingering scents.

Perception(Sarya): 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 4 = 14
Perception(Zev): 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 4 = 15

Out of curiosity, is the perception penalty applied to listening and scent? I went ahead and applied it to Zev's perception anyway but it seems wonky for snow to hinder anything other than visibility.

If it doesn't look like the area has been recently visited, Sarya will approach the chest, her eyes paying more attention to the forested areas and the hilltop than what's in front of her. When she arrives, she gives the chest a curious kick to get an idea of what may be inside. She's had enough undead surprises for one day.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Not far into the forest, the group finds Sarya sitting on the ground, her knees brought up to her chest and her head resting against a nearby tree as she plays a rather unenthusiastic game of fetch with Zev. Well, unenthusiastic for Sarya anyway. Zev appears to be having the time of his life, bounding happily in the snow with equal excitement after every toss as if each throw was the first.

Both Sarya and Zev freeze in place and lift their head towards the group as the sound of snow crunching beneath their shoes reaches them. Zev quickly turns his attention back to Sarya, dropping the bite mark ridden stick onto the ground near her. Sarya grabs the stick and stands as the others draw closer, dusting herself off and collecting herself before they draw too close.

When they reach her she eyes them over with a rather disinterested look in her eyes and speaks in an equally disinterested voice. "Fey are creatures of nature. It's not like them to leave such an obvious sign of their presence. Keep your eyes and ears open...we're probably walking into a trap."

Knowledge(Nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

I'm assuming that's good enough to be able to make basic observations about fey creatures. Just doing it to add flavor. I hope it's ok. If not, we can ignore that part and I'll double check before posting this sort of thing in the future.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya stops suddenly when she hears Igmar call after her. Her head bows slightly, the girl seemingly contemplating either speaking or turning around. Instead, she continues onward without a word after her brief hesitation.

As Sarya puts some distance between the group and herself, Zev stops and gives a glance back at everyone before rejoining Sarya as she treks into the trees.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya frowns and rolls her eyes when Aishe ignores her "apology". "Fine. Be that way." She marches toward the forest in a huff, calling over her shoulder to no one in particular, "I'll be in the forest. There's no reason for me to be here."

Sarya will go into the forest to be alone, traveling south until she finds a downed tree or something similar to rest on while she waits for the others.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya looks at Yagello in disbelief as he starts rambling on about nobles and teamwork. She blinks a few times before reverting back to her normal, stoic self. "Fight? With my dear friend Aishe? I wouldn't dream of it, Yagello. Just blowing off some steam with some innocent teasing. Right, Aishe?"

She faces Aishe, her face almost looking genuinely apologetic. One might get the impression she was actually sorry if her words didn't mask so much sarcasm.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya stands and looks around at the clothes she has scattered across the snow. She feigns a hurt expression as she responds to Aishe. "I wouldn't say I was going through a dead woman's clothes." She smiles and makes her way over to Aishe and Yagello near the upright carriage. "After all, last I heard, Lady Argentea was still alive." Sarya turns her attention toward the collected bodies and motions toward them. "They are not."

Sarya paces around with her arms crossed as she continues to speak. "We waste our time here with these corpses. But I'm sure when we find her body, Lady Argentea will be happy to hear her corpse will be treated with respect."

Sarya looks at Aishe, a smug smile on her face. "The fey creatures and bandits went south into the forest. It's best we follow." Her smile grows slightly as she whispers to Aishe. "Right, peasant?." She gives the other woman a playful wink, amused by her anger.

Don't worry about it, Aishe. You're not going to hurt Sarya's feelings or anything unless you say something really nasty. Besides, Sarya's kind of a jerk so I understand. =P

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya decides to stay out of everyone's way as they attend to their tasks. She takes a seat on one of the crates and rests her chin in her hands as she watches the others; Caelia tending to Igmar, Yagello and Aishe collecting bodies, and Arkady melting the frozen man.

She eventually finds herself staring at Zev in her boredom, the wolf having taken a seat in front of Sarya. Her eyes flash, betraying the fact that an idea just popped into her head as she gives the wolf a smile.

Sarya reaches into the crate and pulls out some clothing, holding it up to herself. She looks down at Zev and gives a playful smile "What do you think?" Zev merely continues staring at Sarya with the same bored look in his eyes that she had only minutes ago. In return, she offers up a fake pout. "Shows what you know."

The young druid continues playing around with the clothing as a way to pass the time. She seems to be having a rather good time with it until she pulls out one of the nicer outfits. Sarya stares at the dress in admiration before holding it up to get a better look. She eventually holds it tightly against her body, spending nearly an entire minute studying it as she walks around with it pressed against her. She casts an inquisitive look over to Zev who still only returns a blank look back. A hint of sadness crosses her face as she tosses the dress into the snow, a heavy sigh escaping from her. She speaks to Zev in a somewhat defeated tone, "You're right. It's dumb."

Sarya sits back down on the now empty crate, looking a bit more upset than she did the first time she took a seat. She taps her foot impatient before calling out to the others. "Are we done? We've got a job to do."

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

I think you're asking the wrong question Arkady. You should be asking us what flavor we want our corpsesicle to be.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya sheathes her sword and puts her shield away as she makes her way back to the group. She stands with her arms crossed, partly due to the chill in the air and partly due to her frustration with how things have played out thus far. She remains silent as the others speak of the fight with the undead.

She frowns when Arkady makes a mention of her "trick". "Not used to using that on someone other than Zev or myself."

Her attention turns toward Aishe and Yagello as they have their conversation. "If you're still planning on burning the bodies, there's two more in the other carriage. Women. Probably servants." Her tone is disturbingly matter-of-fact.

Realizing how negative she's being, Sarya decides it might be best to at least try and be positive considering morale is so low. Sarya sighs and unfolds her arms. "You fought well, Yagello. I'm glad you're here." She wasn't used to offering up compliments and it showed. Her words came out far more awkward than she anticipated and her tone was all wrong but at least the message got across.

Sarya offers a half smile before spinning around and walking around the site, occasionally kicking some snow into the air as she walks around lost in her thoughts. Zev trails along behind her, seemingly a completely different animal than the one that was viciously attacking the undead only moments ago.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Hey Aishe. Good to have you back. A bit disappointed you didn't post while doped up though. Would have been more interesting. =P

I poked around the spreadsheet too. Only thing I saw to correct was Sarya's +7 geography skill. Seems like a lot of work went into it. Hopefully it helps make everything easier on you though.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya sighed heavily as the last undead creature fell to Yagello. So much of what was happening made little sense to her but she does her best to hide her confusion. Hoping to find some clues about how the undead came to occupy the carriage, Sarya pokes around inside, eventually finding a jewelry box that she studies with great interest before stepping back outside.

She makes her way over to Caelia and kneels down in front of her, laying her sword on the snow and handing the box to Aishe without saying a word. She closes her eyes briefly, a globe of white light appearing in her hand after she recites a few words. Sarya presses the magic against Caelia's stomach, the light diffusing across her body briefly before disappearing.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

As the other woman regains consciousness, Sarya stands and shakes the snow off her pants as she looks down at Caelia, the tone of her voice almost as cold as the air around them. "Be more careful next time. We're not in Heldren anymore."

With that, she leans over and grabs her sword and makes her way toward the other carriage to make sure there aren't any more surprises waiting to ambush them.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

I'm pretty sure Yagello finished it off but I might as well roll just in case. It doesn't count as overkill if they're undead right?

Sarya attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Zev attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Attack of Opportunity for Zev: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Zev wrestles with the zombie, trying to keep it pinned under his jaws. Unfortunately, there is little Zev can do against the undead's might as it rises up.

Sarya attack: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

Sarya moves forward, (to H6) her voice rising to a yell as she swings her scimitar down toward the chest of one of the undead.

Kinda curious what your take on Zev using flanking tactics is. I'm going with the assumption that it's something that wouldn't occur to him (except maybe with Sarya). If you feel otherwise, he'll step up to flank with Igmar, assuming the zombie is still alive.

Zev attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7
Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Zev leaps onto the zombie once again with a growl, his teeth aimed for the zombie's throat.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Animal companions can't attack undead or aberrations without a second attack trick...which I didn't do. =(

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Handle Animal to push Zev: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Seeing the undead swarm Caelia fills Sarya's mind with a sense of urgency, a feeling not lost on Zev thanks to their bond. "Come on Zev! We've got to do something!"

For Sarya, move action to handle Zev, another move to end up at G8.

Strengthened by Sarya's urging, Zev looks for an opening into the melee. He jumps atop the downed tree and runs along the length of it, jumping off with bared teeth to pounce on the zombies gathered around Caelia.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Trip (if he hits): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Zev moves to K8 and attacks the zombie there. Not sure if he gets the bard bonus or not.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Well, I'm pretty sure Zev can't attack undead unless I push him so...

Zev prances nervously in the snow before looking up at Sarya with a whimper, unsure what to do about the walking corpses.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Looks pretty good to me so far. The only thing I can think to recommend is to not go strictly by initiative. It's a lot less confusing if everyone posts in order but it's also a lot slower.

I saw something on here once about grouping the PCs based on initiative and allowing each group to post whenever they can.

Since I'm absolutely terrible at explaining things...I shamelessly stole this:

Another method I used before was a slightly altered take on the same principal. Enemies remain grouped, players remain on their own initiative. There are times where a few players would have their initiatives together.

In those circumstances, it is "the order you post in is the order those actions resolve."

i.e.
[21] Player 1
[19] Player 3
[16] Player 5
[13] Goblins
[10] Player 2
[08] Player 4
[07] Skeletons

I'd say "1/3/5 - go!" If 5 posted first that he tossed a fireball, that happens first. I'd give the first group 24 hours to post. Once 24 hours were up (or they all posted), I'd post a mid-fight update with the enemies' actions/reactions. It would then be Player 2 and 4's turn.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Zev emits a low growl, his blue eyes locked on the forest in the distance. Sarya places a hand on his back and speaks with a hushed voice, "I know, Zev. They're in there somewhere." She turns her attention back to the tracks in the snow, trying to get an idea of what she was up against.

Not 100% sure what to roll for this. I'm assuming survival to get an idea of how many different sets of tracks there are and nature to determine what they belong to? If not, you can correct me and apply whatever skill is best to the rolls.

Survival: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Knowledge(Nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya will follow Yagello's lead, drawing her scimitar and readying her shield as her eyes survey the scene. Knowing all too well what a drawn weapon implies, Zev adopts a cautious posture as he follows behind Sarya, his nose sniffing the air for any signs of danger.

Perception (Sarya): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Perception (Zev): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

If no one spots anything, Sarya will also make her way toward the carriage on the road, ignoring Yagello and the corpses in favor of finding any signs of the attackers. Sarya crouches down near the carriage, examining the snow for any clues while Zev circles nearby, his nose hovering inches above the snow.

Perception (Sarya): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Perception (Zev): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

Sarya smiles at how uncomfortable Caelia seemed to be around Zev. "Oh he's great with people. Well...there was that one time..." Sarya pauses and looks thoughtfully up to the sky. "...but most of them survived so I wouldn't worry too much. Right Zev?"

Zev had taken a seat next to Sarya and when addressed, looks up at Sarya; staring blankly at her for several seconds before tilting his head to the side in confusion. Sarya does her best to keep from laughing and shrugs. "Zev's been around for a long time. I'm not even the first druid he's worked with. He'll be fine."

She places her hands on her hips and studies Aishe's wolf companion. "Give her time. She'll settle once we've moved away from her territory."

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

I don't mind you handling whatever rolls you think are necessary. The dice don't like me anyway.

Female Human (Taldan) Druid 1

I'm pretty sure we're all heading out...if not I can just save this post until everyone is ready to move on.

Sarya seems fairly uninterested as the group speaks of their talents. Instead, her attention seems focused solely on her newly acquired wool clothing as she constantly picks at it and squirms uncomfortably.

When the group passes beyond the edges of Heldren's farmlands, Sarya scans the landscape before letting out a sharp whistle. A canine shape bolts out from behind a bush in the distance on command, sprinting straight toward Sarya, it's tail wagging with increased excitement as it closes the gap. Sarya smiles at the sight and kneels down and holds out her arms as the wolf draws close. In it's excitement, the wolf nearly tackles Sarya to the ground as it jumps on her shoulder; a few licks to her cheek eliciting a laugh from the young druid. She playfully scratches the wolf behind the ears as she tries to avoid any additional displays of affection. "Aw...Zev! I missed you too!" Suddenly realizing she's not alone, Sarya quickly stands back up and avoids eye contact with any of the others as she collects herself. "Umm...right. We should get going."

Buying winter clothes and a winter blanket for 8.5 gold. If anyone else needs or wants a regular blanket, it's yours. If not, I suppose I'll just sell it if the general store is buying.

Sarya gives Yagello's clothing an appraising glance before shrugging. "Suit yourself. You'll want to keep that blanket though. Yuln's tales of ice and snow are not exaggerated."

Sarya considers the options offered by Aishe for a few seconds. "I don't think going door to door looking for handouts would prove fruitful. And relying on Ionnia to help us is probably equally as pointless." Sarya temporarily turns her head aside and mutters to herself, "Stubborn old hag..."

Sarya clears her throat as she looks back at the others, a barely noticeable smirk on her face as she does so. "I'm just going to see what all I can dig up at the general store. Don't want to keep our damsel in distress waiting too long, after all." Her last sentence is practically dripping with sarcasm but she still manages a friendly looking smile as she turns to leave the apothecary.

Yagello's outburst breaks Sarya's attention from a bottle filled with some unknown murky liquid she had been examining. She rejoins the others as Aishe is wrapping up her interrogation, glad to hear that so many were prepared to venture into the Border Woods. Her eyes settle on Yagello as she smiles. "It's good that there's so much fire in your belly. You'll need it."

She gives an appraising look down at her own tattered clothing and her smile quickly turns into a frown. "Which reminds me...Aishe, I need something a bit warmer before heading back into the Border Woods. Any ideas?"

Sarya stands when the door swings open. She doesn't react to the councilor's frown until the councilor makes her way toward town. Sarya smirks to herself as Ionnia walks by, giving a nod of her head toward Ionnia and speaking, "Nice to see you too, Ionnia."

Sarya wears her smirk into the apothecary as the others gather around the wounded man's bed. Believing the man has little to say that she hasn't already seen for herself, Sarya pays the man little attention and instead busies herself with having a look at various things that catch her eye around the apothecary.

Sarya follows quietly along behind Aishe and Caelia, keeping her head down and trying her best to remain in the center of the group as they travel.

When the group arrives at the apothecary and gets off the road, Sarya seems to visibly relax. After Caelia suggests that Aishe make introductions for the group, Sarya will take a seat on the ground with her back against the outside of the building. She looks up at Aishe from her position on the ground, "Try not to get too caught up in gossiping, Aishe. Time is not on our side." With that, she leans her head back against the wall and closes her eyes as she waits.

I kinda assumed he would have been asked to hide somewhere outside of the town. I doubt many people would take kindly to a wolf walking inside their homes and leaving him outside on his own would cause a whole different set of problems.

Sarya crosses her arms and fidgets anxiously as the others make more proper introductions. When the conversation shifts back to business, a sly smile crosses Sarya's face. "That's a fantastic idea, Arkady. You wouldn't mind speaking to Ionnia for us would you Aishe?"

Sarya spends a few moments glaring at Aishe before giving a defeated sigh. "The tall one is Yagello. The brightly colored one is Arkady. And the dwarf is Igmar." Sarya points to each of her new companions as she introduces them. When she finishes, her eyes settle on Caelia. "They're interested in helping the bodyguard that came into town. We need to see him."

"Well...we could-", Sarya begins responding to Arkady but stops mid-sentence, nearly jumping in shock when she hears her name called out. Her shoulders slumped slightly as she sighed and turned around only to see Aishe barreling at her. Sarya's eyes widen at the sight as she reflexively takes a step back but unfortunately not far back enough to escape the half-elf that had flung herself at Sarya.

Sarya stands petrified as Aishe hugs her, not really sure how to respond. After a few uncomfortable seconds, Sarya finally pulls herself away from Aishe and speaks with a hushed tone hiding a hint of frustration. "What are you doing?! Could you be any louder?"

Sarya gladly leads those who wish to follow her outside and toward the temple of Erastil. The trip is a short one but even in that time it's obvious that Sarya is acting a bit strange. Her eyes dart around the town, as if looking for something. Whenever the group draws close to anyone from the village, she turns her face away or holds her head down in an attempt to hide.

When the group approaches outside the temple, Sarya freezes abruptly at the sight of the two women chatting on the stairs of the temple. She quickly turns around to those following her and gives a nervous smile. "Umm...on second thought...he's...uhh...probably not here. Maybe we should try somewhere else?"

When the others declare their willingness to help, Sarya lets out a sigh a relief as her posture relaxes, a weight seemingly lifted from her. "Well, that wasn't so hard..."

As the others prepare to leave, she'll stand as well, a slight smile on her face. "If you're going to speak with the guard, he's probably being cared for at the temple. I can show you where it is if you'd like."
